i love that its american highschool themed because i am german and let me just say... my highschool experience is pretty much like in the sims right now. you go there, you get grades, you come again. nothing interesting happens. so i am very, very excited for this
Italian here, same thing! This trailer made me wish “I were in high school”, then I realised I am already in high school and I hate it. Plus here in Italy you stay in h school until you are 19 so it’s even more draining and boring

Hey, I don't mind them breaking down the content among the age groups. If they want to someday give us a Game Pack someday that focuses on elder sims with a retirement community, jigsaw puzzles, bingo, wheelchairs and the ability to send seniors away on a world cruise, I won't complain.
this is actually hilarious and i could see them doing this. I can already see a promotional screenshot of an old sim spinning wildly in a wheelchair with a staff person freaking out and a couple people getting mad about a puzzle in the background. The fake plant, the TV that's always playing in the living space...
I love building retirement homes for my sims worlds so I would love a pack like that!!

I certainly don't want to revisit *my* High School years, but I'll definitely enjoy my Sim's High School years.
Covid saved me from possibly failing a class senior year so I think that's the best I could've asked for.
I really really hope those little "style icon" "socially awkward romantic" etc. labels will mean that we can give Sims more personality

My fears are that the pack might be too much micro managing, and that you can't escape it once you have it. Like yeah, so fun to play, but if I'm playing a whole family I don't have an infinite amount of time for just my teens.
probably gonna be similar to get to work where you don’t have to go to school with the sim and there will be pop ups for you to make decisions during the day
i’m hoping that if you have multiple teenagers they’ll be in school together so you can play with all of them together at school and not miss out too much

One upside of this being American High School ™️ is that I don’t think anyone in the US who plays the sims had this kind of positive, tv show HS experience, so it’ll be new for everyone 😂

Re: It being the US style high school: As a European, I don't mind at all! Like you said, it kind of feels like playing in a movie, which totally fits with the Sims vibe. The University pack was also super American-centric, so it makes sense to me!
I would actually disagree with the university pack being american-centric! When I think of American college I think of greek life, sororities and fraternities etc, and discover university had none of that. I think they were going for a more British-centric experience given the architecture and name Brichester. I'm don't mind at all about this pack being american-centric though.
@@graceparton8407 I can see this. I personally thought it could’ve been really cool for sims to join a Greek org, or even attend sporting & on campus events like the soccer games in the stadium instead of just disappearing when they got there. Lots of rabbit holes.
Just today (yey) I graduated from international high school program from Europe and I do agree. Yes we have our own local traditions but there aren’t as many as in the us
American schools have a lot more going on then UK schools e.g. cheer leading, american footaball, graduation etc but i think it makes the game more interesting and adds more to do. otherwise if it was just UK school you would just be going to school... i would rather have all the extras americans have!
I think them making this a stereotype-movie kind of high school is a great move. Of course, I would love if they had also added a boarding school option too, but to be honest this is the first time I have been excited for an expansion pack since Discover University, I’m not complaining
You could probably pretend to have a boarding school. Move your teens into a household that has some other teens and a like den mother or other adult instead of their parents.
@@ShadoeLandman I do that all the time but it’s not the same because I need to control all the sims and cheat their needs etc etc… Hopefully I can modify the look of the new school from this expansion pack and make it a boarding school 🏫
@@feniasklika125 You shouldn't really need to do that. They may not always be in great moods, but they're unlikely to be so bad at caring for themselves that they die or anything. Put up smoke detectors and that alarm thing that goes with it and it should be fine. Not much different than having sims in a dorm.

I couldn’t agree with you more! I just turned 37 on June 25th and growing up from Kindergarten through 12th Grade. My life was a living Hell! I had no friends and I was constantly Bullied, harassed, made fun of, belittled, spit on, verbally, and physically abused, I received Death threats you name it. All through out my school years. Not even the quote on quote loser kids wanted to be friends with me! I'm all grown up now and I still don't fit in at all anywhere! I can't make or keep friends to save my life! I’m a massive colossal huge proud Super Nerd and I still can't even make friends with other Nerds! So my Sims definitely deserve better as well! I cried a bit when I saw this, I’m flipping out and I’m hyperventilating! I’m beyond happy and thrilled for this pack! I can’t wait to pre-order it tomorrow!

My biggest concern about what could go wrong is with sibling sims. Like what if you have twins or just teens close in age that are both at high-school at the same time? It would be weird if you could only follow one of them, like in get to work where if two sims from the same household have the same active career, you only ever see one at work. But on the other hand it would be annoying to HAVE to control all of them if you don't want to. But personally I'd prefer to have access to all of them at school than just one because that would just be SO strange.
i'm wondering if it'll be like when two of your sims visit a lot, where you DO get control over one of them, but not the ones that arent on the lot
Yeah even if you couldn't control them both at school it would be nice to be able to have them interact.
Hm the fact custom highschool lots will be a thing, that might not be a problem. If you can join a lot that is in your world I'm sure you can just click on your sim who's at school and focus on their education and maybe other teens that also go to school can be there while you are like a social event but without restrictions. For instance if school is in session you can just control your teen sims to walk around the halls and interact with other students and teachers. I'm hoping they can start a refresh for get to work, though, to add a live active job for teachers, coaches, and principles. That'd be awesome. Also if they could add a kindergarten that'd be absolutely awesome. I already have a mod that allows for live-in daycare and she gets payed for watching kids.

@@blossomedsims9413 that would make sense, but what i think its going to be like is like the acting career, where there's tasks in the corner of the screen you have to do, and i'm not sure how that could work when it comes to two sims attending school at the same time.

I'm really glad they're adding body hair before a pack that has puberty in it rather than before werewolves. Body hair is natural, not animalistic
i hope it includes female framed sims because i didn't see any have any body hair. they didn't in the sims 3 which is why im nervous. not just men have body hair! ( sorry if my comment sounds weird, i wasn't sure how to word it )
@@marinettewhite5672 No, your comment makes total sense!! I completely agree, I hope feminine framed Sims get body hair too, but I didn't see it in the trailer. I think feminine body hair is viewed as taboo and "gross" when it's something everyone grows. Feminine presenting people are just expected to shave, which is why I can see them leaving it out. I really hope they include it

I'm interested to see how it will interact with the university pack. At least in american tv shows, high schoolers sometimes do their school work stuff with having a certain college in mind they wanna go to and stress out if they are afraid they won't pass some tests or courses and won't be able to get into the college they want

Haha yeah that is a thing in the US. As for the Sims, I mean, you need more art related skills for Britechester and more science related skills for Foxbury (not sure I got the names right) so maybe chess/computers club for Foxbury and more sketching on the sketch pad/singing for Britechester

I’m not sure how attending classes could be good gameplay as you’re just watching a sim watching another sim and writing down notes. Unless you can try to talk to your classmates, do science practicals, cheat your test etc, then there would be some merit to that idea. I feel like most people will just have to fast forward if the teens have more than one active class in a day
we will 100% be able to go into the school. You could tell by how they said decorate ur own lockers. They wouldn't say that if u could go in and see it and stuff.

I have over 3000 yours in the sims 4 and that’s just me living my dream life vicariously through my sims. I always just create myself and live the life I wish I lived in real life. This pack will be great for me to do that and have a good high school experience unlike in real life.
I graduated high school recently and despised it, but I’m excited to have my sims thrive and fail in this pack lmao

I'm curious about the teachers because in the University Expansion they added the Career of "Teacher" so I wonder if a teen goes to high school and a Adult in the same household works the teacher career, will the adult be there? How hilarious would it be if a teen gets an embarrassed moodlet because their parents work as a teacher 😂😂 Overall super exited for this pack!

My first reaction was "I am going to have the high school I never got to have." I never had prom, I was the nerdy loner. The only thing I wish this pack offered is drama club. That was the one place where I found other weirdos like me. This world looks so amazing, and I do not understand the people complaining "we should have had this sooner." The trailer alone shows so many venues, so many actions, build and CAS. Maybe they didn't have the technology to do all this until now. I look at the animation on the animals in Cottage Living and am blown away. Yeah, Weddings still has glitches they need to patch, but given all the gameplay that pack offers... High School is going to be outstanding if *knocks wood* it works. I have preordered my copy and cannot wait for 7/28!
There is a drama club in get famous, but it is a little lackluster

Looks so good! Puts University to shame. People in the future who don’t know what order the packs came out won’t understand why high school has classes and sports, but college only has rabbit holes. I’m ok with a small world if we get a lot of gameplay- we have a lot of worlds now anyways.

Yeah it definitely does. Personally I had way more fun in Uni than in high school and wanted my sims to really get that experience of being a young adult too. But hopefully they add some crossover features from the high school pack to the Uni pack

I'm from Germany and I am actually not mad at all, that this pack is focusing on a very american HIgh School experience. As romanticised versions of an American High School experience were coming a lot in media in my teenage days (all these movies, high school musical etc.) it feels familiar to me and I am actually excited to experience (sort of) this kind of High School Life through my Sims! Also the Trailer literally made me cry. I am very excited!

There’s nothing wrong with a stereotypical American highschool experience. The sims is an American game. (As far as I am aware). Though I do think it would be cool to include other cultural aspects in like alternative schools. Or festivals… boy I would love a festival game pack. Seasonal, American, European, Asian etc. would be so cool.
especially since it’s an expansion pack! I would be disappointed if they didn’t include other perspectives especially after how much they’re including other perspectives today (like with a lot of the CAS items including different religious and cultural items, and a lot of cultural foods)
They kind of already do. There’s a rio themed pack and a pack containing a lot of Indian outfits. Not sure what the packs are called though. More would be fun, but they do already have a few
The Italian Liceo experience™️ is people getting depressed (or stoned lol) due to the huge amount of homework, getting stressed out, absolutely no prom, you stay in the same class for 6/8 hours with only 10 minutes long break to get up and eat something (ONLY before covid, now you get to stay 6 hour sitting and becoming mentally ill). At least we can ask to go go the toilet and get up. Each class has its classroom, the teachers move, not the students. Everyone gets to study the same 11 subjects. I could go on but who cares
So in conclusion I am glad they opted for the American Stereotype type of school. Please, next year I’ll be 19 and I will still be in high school, why does it last so much here? Someone get me out of this

I will say, I am intrigued. I was homeschooled, so personally, I find this quite interesting. And I think it's safe to say, pretty much ALL of us are exited about the whole "sneaking out the window" thing.
As a former band kid, I’m a little disappointed that there doesn’t seem to be any music-related extracurriculars. I’ve always wanted more instruments in game, and I would’ve loved to have some type of band class or after school activity. But otherwise, this looks super cool! I’m excited!

I kind of wish they would've added a couple more after school activities, like drama or something, just because not everyone is sporty, but honestly there's so much in the pack already that it doesn't surprise me that it's more limited in that area. I understand what they're trying to do with the pre-order bonus items, but after so many flops, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a large amount of simmers who would rather wait to see reviews. While still not great, it would make more sense if the items were locked not behind a "pre-order deadline" but a "paid full price to purchase" condition. At least then there's still the possibility of getting them after watching reviews etc.

for me personally, as a teen who plays the sims, this pack is right up my alley. I love the idea of actively going to school, skipping out on class and taking the precautions to not get caught(which is very realistic), cheer, football, clubs, detention, crushes, and more. As well as the social media aspect, clothes, amusement park, and thrifting/boba(two things I heavily indulge in). The only things that I’m a little bugged out by are how the sneaking out will work because many windows clearly don’t open, how they’ll coincide with packs like parenthood, snow escape, etc., will the pack be buggy like the wedding pack(???), and the lack of clubs. Idk if the clubs mentioned where just a small amount but things like drama clubs and, just the basic clubs created in general by student body, will they be included? Will the sims be able to develop their own school club and incorporate people??(I mean I guess you could do that with get together but still)

True my parents were overly strict. Also it was a very different world in the 60s than today. I am so ready for a second teenhood as well as a second childhood.

This honestly looks like it could be the best expansion pack yet. The amount of depth it brings to the life of your Sims is brilliant. There were times when I'd skip ahead to young adult, just to avoid the dullness of school. The constant homework, and bland rabbit hole interactions were just a chore. I'm looking forward to this! And right on the tail of the Werewolf Pack!? I'm totes making my own version of Teen Wolf. ;)
and to me this is what the sims is for; live your dreams and fantasies in game. i see people in the comments say that they had a bad highschool experience and that they're just happy that they'll get to create a positive experience for their sims, no matter how cliché, and that's a good thing. the sims, for a lot, is an escape and it seems like this pack will be a great tool to allow that. i hope we're not disappointed. from the trailer i'm sold.

I kind of hope they add teen parties again. Where the the parents go out of town or win an all expense paid trip for the the weekend. And the teens throw a rager and have to clean up before the parents come home. But, I guess we shall see. :) I'm excited for the pack though.

Ok, I'm going to buy this just to let my sim have the openly gay high school experience that I never got to have. I was in the closet for my own safety. So my sim is going to make out with her girlfriend in front of the lockers, take their girlfriend to prom, and have a prideflag in their bedroom. And there is no homophobia.
You didn’t lose much if you ask me lmao I had an openly gay high school experience and it sucked. I didn’t suffer physical violence, though, but exclusion. And the closest I had to an actual romance was a guy that flirted with me while we were alone but totally ignored my existence among his friends.

I’m hoping the whole “discovering your sim’s identity” thing could mean LGBTQIA+ identities. Like- you can actually select who your sims are attracted to, or how they identify themselves. It could also mean having actual trans characters instead of headcanons and a flag, you know? It could include the awkward stages of transition and the several emotions that come with discovering yourself.
Or…maybe I’m just getting my hopes up / wishful thinking 😅
And it has to be in the base game update because.. Are they really gonna put identities behind a 40 dollar paywall?

As a French person, I must say I was kinda hopping that would have be more opened and global picture of high school, not just the American one 😅 it is fun, sure, 'cause it looks like what we can watch on tv. But here I feel a bit unattached to this them. It does not look like any European high school experience (except for the part with children being on social media all the time, hoping to get popular and loved, and not for the most confortable reasons...)

Re: what you were saying Kayla, I usually roll my eyes at how American TS4 is as an European, but with high school, I don't mind. European high schools are boring, we have none of the drama and organizations and structures you see in American high school movies LOL. My personal experience was just going there every day for 5-8 hours and leaving and that's it. We didn't have cheerleaders or sports teams or cliques or even lockers, so that'd be pretty boring to play as.

i AM really excited for this pack, I really think it should be in the sims. however, I really strongly feel that this should be part of the basegame, that most packs, should be base game. in a life simulator, core parts of life should not be dlcs. this goes for any school pack, parenthood, get to work, get together, most stuff packs, pets, etc. The only parts that should be dlcs should be supernatural stuff. witches, vampires, werewolves, strangerville, mermaids, you name, it should be a dlc. bc really, a lot of the fun parts in the sims 4 are locked behind extra paid content and the base game is kinda just,,, there,,,,,

I have previously used the Clubs feature to create "Class of..." groupings for my teens, to help me figure out who's in what social group with who. I wonder how that will go once I've added the high school environment over the top of it.
This trailer looks really exciting HOWEVER I keep getting flashbacks from the wedding pack. I hope that this is a “finished” pack because this looks like it could be a really amazing, especially the gameplay.

I have literally waited my entire life for this!! Started playing Sims when I was like 5 in the early 2000 and a high school pack like this is what I always wanted so badly! I also didn’t have the best school experience so I feel like it’s going to be therapy and soo much fun at the same time!! So excited 😂
a stuff pack for elders would be a lot of fun, i feel like when sims get to that point you neglect them a bit bc its harder to play with them now. plus i think sims shuffleboard would be very cute

Agreed! I could easily see them doing more child and elder themed Kits/game packs. I don’t see either as an expansion pack, but I personally don’t mind that. This High School expac really add stuff to a life stage that has to be heavily modded to be fully enjoyed IMO.

Like, all of us Latin Americans DREAM of attending a school like in America, we don’t have things like lockers, cheerleaders, school clubs, not even detention; this is the coolest thing ever 😂

Bullies, being ostracized, unable to get a seat on the school bus. Someone sticking female sanitary products to the outside of your locker, dumped in trash cans, being mocked for your hair texture or cheap clothing. Half the guys won't go to prom so you can't get an escort and can't get a chance to even be randomly picked to be prom queen. Lots of fun.

I like that it is based around iconic American highschool, since most movies show us exactly this. My Highschool experience was so different, I didn't get to go to prom with my friends, I had surgery the last year of highschool, I couldn't finish that year and had to come back a year later but my friends were already in college.
This seems soo good because I just graduated high school and I had a lot of problems with friendships throughout but I'm happy it's over but now I can make my Sims have the high school life I wish I had and deserved

as a queer person, i wasn’t able to go to high school prom as my true self; now in college, a “second chance prom” was held so queer students could have a do-over of prom to be comfortable in their true identity. hopefully this pack serves the same for those of us who couldn’t enjoy our high school proms. (to all the queer high school kids: life gets so much better, i promise!!)

If may i ask, How old are you?. I'm 43 and gay. And I took my boyfriend to prom. It was weird but nothing dramatic happened. And that was in a medium to small town in Michigan. In the late 90s.
I went to a catholic private high-school, so I while I did go to prom with a senior boy my sophomore year, I was not able to attend my senior prom with my gf at the time. They would not have let us dance together or show any form of pda had I attended. It made me so jealous of public schools that allowed it 😫

I'm interested to see how smoothly events like prom and graduation go as they aren't rabbit holes, I hope that it won't be like the award show in Get Famous since in my experience it ends up going on for longer than it's supposed to and sims just stand and do nothing. I wonder how prom will play out, in the Sims 3 it was a rabbit hole but it would tell you if your sim got in a fight or kissed someone and that's something I personally enjoy and I just hope prom in the Sims 4 won't just be them standing awkwardly.

The base game update might include some LGBTQ+ actions. Such as coming out. That would explain what they mean by more choice and opportunity to discover your sims lives. They might also include some things to help teens like asking parents for help or advice. Or maybe even going to therapy. This is just a theory but I think it would make a lot of sense.

I wonder how the high school gameplay is going to be implemented into the overall gameplay. Do you actively play your teen sim's school day every single day? If so, what about the household members at home? What if you have multiple teen Sims? What if you also actively play a career of your adult Sim, like a doctor or restaurant owner? Also, how long does your school day go? If it is anything like University, it's gonna feel very cramped and stressful if you want to succeed but also tell a story and have fun. What if your Sim is a teen werewolf and rampages at school? So many questions
Love the idea of Promposals in the sims. Promposals aren’t a thing where I live, and it must be so fun to actually make that happen in the sims.

I love this! Not only am I a high school drop out and live in Australia, but I’ve always tried to have smith like this in the sims. I love the kinda coming of age high school teen movies, and this is everything, it’s gonna be so good when you have like aliens and werewolf’s and vampires all in the same school. Even mermaids altho idk how that will go haha. I’m so excited. Also extremely broke so imma have to start working and saving so I can get this asap

The only thing I missed in highschool was graduation, I left a few months before to finish my diploma early. I got to enjoy the thrill of sneaking out at night, going to parties, and skipping school so it wasn't all bad.

I know Simsie was nervous about the 7 lots. BUT, it looks like they have made more usable areas, like with Werewolves. I'm guessing the football field and the boardwalk are areas we can't edit much, but I think it'll be fewer loading screens. Also, I'm almost positive the ferris wheels, the tunnel of love, etc are rabbit holes. This pack looks really cool!! I just want us all to keep perspective.
Plus I imagine the content will be useable in other worlds too (like you can put a high school in Sulani if you want), it's not really the type of pack where the world is super important - and I say that as someone who immensely appreciates new big worlds. This particular pack I'm pretty okay with not having a big world since presumably I can do all the stuff in existing worlds anyway. I was way more upset about the small worlds that came with Vampires and Realm of Magic, those heavily themed packs would've really benefitted from fully fledged worlds that went with their aesthetics, especially Vampires imo

In my high school we have senior skip day. All seniors can miss school that day and stay home. Some will organize an event and go to the beach. There is one teacher there if you had her class she would arrange a test on that day so you wouldn't be able to skil at all. Then near the end of the year the principle would gather the staff and students in the gym and tell us our attendence by each grade. My senior year we had the worst attendence and we were cheering so loudly and happily even though half the seniors weren't even there.
The woohoo spot is the ferriswheel. You can see the love hearts comming of off it in the trailer. Also there might be two schools, the main one is green yellow white, and there's a snap shot of another school in red black and white. JUST LIKE BRING IT ON.
Maybe I'm reading too much into it and getting over excited, but what if the base game update was about sexual orientation and gender identity? Like we had loads of LGBTQ+ representation lately, teenage years are a big moment of discovering your sexuality, so maybe there will be an option to select your Sim's preferences 🥰 There's already mods for that, so it wouldn't be too much work for EA to implement this I guess

Yeah... It doesn't quite compare. At the time, I found it quite elaborate, although I really missed the "party" aspect of university. I feel like they've nailed the studying and the work load as well as actually being able to fail uni, but the most exciting and story-worthy university experience to me is themed parties, discovering how to handle alcohol, awful initiations etc. Just... making mistakes and having fun doing it lol

For me Get To Work is very high on that list. Dine Out of course is a mess. Island Living is really not worth the money. Ecolifestyle's eco footprint still goes green without making any changes and NAP's are a disaster. And Realm of Magic is very unbalanced I think.

I have been playing the Sims since Feb 2000, i can honestly say i have NEVER teared up over a pack like this one. Not full on cry but tears in my eyes emotional Abt this.
I know part of it was because I'm May my last of 4 kids Graduated High school, and I was so happy and proud of my kids doing something i didn't.
I was a Teen mom, 2 amazing daughters by 18, so I did not experience high school like this.
I wasn't popular, or participated in sports, i was essentially a misfit. This pack will allow me to relive those yrs i missed in High school.
i love the stereotypically american thing- it's like getting to recreate movies in the sims XD the sims is inherently US based bc it's made by a US company, and I think that if they go full send into this sort of thing it will be super fun and purposeful rather than just generically american bc they didnt put thought behind it, u know? this seems super deliberate and im excited!

I have a hunch that the “new feature that will add more choice and opportunity for discovery” as it relates to “identities” is probably some functionality around transitioning or coming out as transgender! The teaser shared on Twitter (the Rise & Shine one) had a trans flag icon on the wall next to the mirror, and I think it definitely fits with these hints!!!

That's what I think!! As a non-binary person I'm very excited to see if it has to do with trans people and/or more gender identities. It would be so cool if we could customize a Sims gender identity!! And watch them transition to be how they want.
Or just a coming out interaction in general. They could make a lock on sexual identity as well so your gay sims won’t autonomiclly flirt with a women ect

I really hope EA will take their time with this and do a lot of test plays because with the amount of content and new interactions in this I can see it having a lot of similar issues as the Wedding pack if it ‘s not patched properly before release.
I'm from Brazil and totally fine with my sims having the american dream high school! Only thing I wish we had (from my brazilian high school experience) is the "trote do terceirão", an activity seniors do in their last year of school that includes going to school in their pajamas or dressed as some famous character, even bringing in their books and notebooks in anything other than a bag or backpack. that would be cool!
In the UK we have something a bit like that on the last day of school. You can wear anything you like on the last day of school so lots of people come in fancy dress. Friend groups can plan to have matching costumes or be different characters from a film.
Love how every time there’s a sims trailer drop people in the live comments are always like “Hey Lilsimsie!” knowing that Kayla is recording and waiting like all of us 😭
The sims is already so American media vibes so I don’t mind it being American. It would be really hard for them to make it suit every country in one pack.
Yeah me too. The Sims is made in America, they are totally allowed to make it american-centric.
and the sims already has some really cool non American aspects as well. I feel like you can't go too far without it becoming too religious or too far on the spectrum to feel like you can make it your own. They can do more wth their base game as far as culture (like add some things for Africa PLZ) but I feel like it really hits surface level for a lot of the things they do. and that's okay.
