I feel like in a strange way we would be able to build and run hotels with this pack being that we can adjust the lease time, and then spaces like pools, gyms, lounges, bars, etc. could be “shared” spaces
Leash time is how often tenants pay, not how long they can stay. Edit: SimGuru Nova tweeted it wrong. Leash time is how often the tenants can leave without paying extra but they can stay indefinitely unless you evict them.
Earlier today on X, someone was saying that this would be good for making hotels. I think that Airbnb or Bread and Breakfasts would work better (since most hotels have things like restaurants, room service, automatic maid service, etc.) But it certainly gives us more options than we've had before. Even as an apartment, shared spaces could have pools, gyms, laundry, etc.
There is actually a vid that Simsie posted about a year ago of Simsie getting rich by blackmail with a feature with StrangerVille. I’ll reply to u with a link if u wanna watch bestie!@@NannaP27
I bet with the rules on the apartments, there’s probably some cross pack comparability that would add more options. For example, “no pets” is probably only an option if you have Cats and Dogs or cottage living, maybe Horse Ranch. But I bet there will be others with other packs, like maybe banning university students or occult types!
Somebody asked one of the sim gurus if there was cross pack compatibility with the rules and they replied with a smiley emoji so I’m guessing we’ll have rules for “no (insert supernatural here)” and “no pets” at the very least.
I truly believe that we could be getting a hotels pack very soon. The rental units UI/mechanic feels like it’s paving the way for hotels. You can practically build a ‘hotel’ by defining each ‘hotel room’ as a different unit, the hotel bar/‘restaurant’/spa/gym as shared spaces, and doing short-term rental agreements. I mean, the restaurant wouldn’t function as a restaurant, as this wouldn’t be a community lot and you wouldn’t be able to hire staff. It would have to be more like a kitchen with a buffet table or something… A whole lot of pretending required haha but it could work
@@annoar9776you can, but again, you need to do A LOT of pretending for it to work… 😂 Hotels could’ve been included in this pack (you should also be able to buy a vacation home), but they’d rather release another expansion with barely any new gameplay cuz $$$$$
whoever did the voice over for this trailer, i love them! they’re so expressive and sound like they’re smiling and having so much fun while recording :))
Simsie: “This just feels morally wrong” Also simsie: *has Stanley steal from family and sell stolen goods at a store* *becomes landlord and has tenants sleep in thunderstorm* *steals from bbqs* *kills stanley*
Thank you! On a serious note, constantly hearing this complaint is exasperating. Having simmers chuckle at drowning and starving their sims, getting kids taken away is good fun, but evicting is too far.... I could take it more seriously if the complaint was consistent across the board.
Seriously... The double standard is really annoying. I've seen people BBQ babies, but god forbid landlords exist. 🤣 I for one am so thankful for the added realism and gameplay/stories that I'm gonna get from this pack.
100% was going to comment the same! It’s fine to have a Pufferfish Nigiri party. But god forbid people have items repossessed or someone provides housing to someone who cannot purchase their own 🤪.
I am SO excited to renovate Willow Creek with this pack. The shotgun duplexes, brownstones, and French Quarter style apartments I’ve always wanted in that world will finally be doable
It's funny how at first I wasn't interested in this pack at all and now I'm extremely invested into it. I'm super excited for the new gameplay mechanics, like, just the thought of being able to play with more than 8 sims in one lot is something that I never expected to see coming to the sims 4
I mean you could always play with more than 8 sims in a lot. They just weren't part of your household. That's exactly what will be happening here.. this is literally just City Living but you can build it yourself. Everyone knew this was eventually coming because it's been constantly suggested and demanded since City Living released.
i understand not wanting play as a landlord - but it’s so funny to me that this is where simmers draw the line morally. it’s fine to feed poison sushi to sims but being a landlord is too much lol
@@ElfsArt24 I think it's less morality and more levels of absurdity - like landlords and being evicted etc are very common things to have happen while people dying after jumping into a piranha pond twelve times or posioning people is just absurd (and no one would think she might actually support that). Almost like landlords are too real/too close to home - she's drawn the line of animal cruelty too, like with the rags to riches horse challenges. It could also be from personal experience, cause she has mentioned in a stream a while ago that the house she was renting before she moved had black mould in her bedroom wall, so the whole landlords letting bugs/mould run rampant might be a bit of a sore spot? That would be my guess anyway
@@_thea_rose i totally understand it and probably won’t play as a landlord. but it still makes me laugh when there are many other things that would be considered too evil for non-simmers but are completely fine within the community
@@ruby8698 Oh yeah for sure. I guess there is just kind of a set of things that are objectively evil but are accepted in the sims community to the point where they aren't seen as evil anymore lol
This is because it's the current "cool" thing to do nowadays. Landlords have been getting A LOT of problems lately.. there was even a social event for landlords where people actually broke in and beat them up just because they're landlords.. People keep acting like all landlords are horrible people. There's a MASSIVE issue lately with the internet hearing like a handful of stories and taking that as suddenly it's like 99% of people are like this..
They already confirmed you don't have to be a Property Owner. It's literally in the news article they posted. It says, "Experience the neighborhood as a Property Owner or tenant". For some reason, EVERY CC I've watched has skimmed over this part and then constantly questioned if they can just be a tenant. 😂
I know right!? I'm atleast glad that kayla read all the way through the blog post bc there were people who kept complaining about not getting stuff when it clearly said/showed that we would get it LMAO
The continued landlord hate is so odd to me especially after seeing the gameplay trailer. They encourage you to be a community builder, they show the landlords cleaning up the building and addressing tenant complaints, and you can set sim’s rent to zero. You can play as a scummy landlord if you really want or you can use the feature to build a hotel, homeless shelter, or even a hippy dippy commune. There are so many storytelling possibilities!
Thats what i think many people are missing, you dont have to be a bad landlord, you dont have to be a landlord at all! You can finally have an in-law suit without having them taking up place in your houshold, you can have all of your esxtended family on the same lot as you (i actually try to have only 1-2 children per genoration specificly because i like having all the extended family in the house i am playing, i pre-plan the family tree so that everyone can fit in the 8 household limit) i know that in most cultures its very common to move out of your parants house as soon as you are able to, but in arab culture its very common for all the family to live in one big house, that is splited to some units, i always dremt for my own family to live this way so thats why i like making my sims live that way. The landlord aspect of the pack can be so much more than just being a landlord for profit
I mean while that part towards the end almost made me cry because thats exactly the type of thing Ill be doing with this pack; Nah Landlord is an Immoral Occupation by default because its simply resource hoarding.
i think its a bit more of a "landlords shouldn't exist to begin with" kind of approach. housing should not be kept from people and for a game like sims which a lot of people treat as an escape from reality, to add in rent which is such a real source of stress for so many can be a bit upsetting. i do agree about the gameplay possibilities, super excited for this pack.
Also it’s very hilarious the fact that simsie felt guilty about repo and evicting but literally an hour before this trailer she streamed a 100 baby challenge where she unalived all the dads and had a giant basement grave collections 😭😭
I always find it cool and interesting that the packs are inspired by a specific culture or country. I’m Bengali and I’m seeing a lot of Vietnamese and Bengali (general southeast Asian and south Asian) influence in this pack tbh, I just think that’s such a cool mashup.
SimsGuru Nova already answered the question on about being a tenant. Someone had previously asked that and she said you can be a tenant, landlord, or both so you could live out any story you wanted.
There's a common theme in video games where it's fun to do blatantly wrong things in a fictional environment as long as they're far removed from your real life. I play Rimworld and will gladly allow a cannibal to join my settlement, but will refuse any misogynist or ableist. It's about escapism; I've never had a personal problem with a cannibal or a casual thief, but certainly have with misogynists and power-tripping landlords
Landlordism hits too close to home. Like, as a tenant I'm really not happy aobut paying for someone else's mortgage. It feels like I'm supporting a pyramid scheme. Like yeah if something goes wrong in the apartment it's the landlord's duty to fix it at their expense, _but that's what I'm paying them for_, had I owned the apartment I'd basically be paying myself.
Killing sims, breaking up marriages, starving children to get them taken away by social workers, finding creative ways to make their sims miserable.. oh no but being a landlord is a bridge too far lmao
@@vanguardiris3232 There’s a lot of things you can do in the sims that aren’t too far removed from your real life. For example, plenty of people refuse to feed their children irl and as a result the child either dies or get taken away by social workers, and yet some people still do it without issue for whatever reason without considering the moral implications of their actions. Drawing the line at being a landlord, when you could easily just make your landlord a benevolent landlord, is ridiculous no matter how you slice it.
south east asia is known to believe ghosts a lot, so it's normal for us to consider if the property is haunted or not before picking a place to live 😂 and i think the no ghost unit rule is actually a nice touch to this SEA inspired pack!
Killing people doesn't hit as close to home as being a landlord because (hopefully) you don't deal with dead people on a daily basis, yet leases, rents etc are a very real and stressful concern of a lot of people. TL;DR killing a sim is fine because it's a lot less realistic than dealing with rent, which for a lot of people, is a daily struggle
@@purplecosmonautMy biggest question is why are you all only stressed about this now? You’ve been had to pay rent in the Sims, and you had to pay it ON TIME or else your utilities would be shut off one by one and then your shit would be repossessed. That’s a constant threat in the Sims without any packs installed, as far as I’m aware. Not to mention that Landlords already existed in City Living and they were pretty chill. They would show up minutes after you contact them about an issue in your apartment and attempt to fix it assuming you didn’t block the issue with furniture. The only difference here is that you get to be in control and can CHOOSE to be as benevolent or as cruel of a landlord as you want to be, just as you can CHOOSE to be a benevolent Sim God that doesn’t torture or kill your Sims for your own amusement. I swear, this community makes big deals out of nothing and I find the double standards both what okay and what’s not okay to put in the Sims annoying. Like yeah, you don’t deal with death on a daily basis, but a lot of people deal with starvation. I don’t see y’all getting up in arms about starving your sims lol
To me all the landlord things and the mould and stuff aren’t any different than your child getting taken by CPS or burning to death, and I say that as someone who’s had a slum landlord and got sick from mould.
@@danitho IKR. I'm so excited for all the gameplay options. TS4 is already such a SAFE game as it is. The Sims has always been about all the things that can go wrong. I mean TS2 is literally one of the most unforgiving games out there. And most simmers are totally fine with murder, cheating, divorce, starving sims, neglecting children, drowning them, poison etc. but oh no. eviction. um??? i don't? huh? it's pixels?
simmers are always complaining about how they want the game to be more challenging and realistic and as soon as we get exactly that they're offended. 💀
@@LiterallyJustAnActualPotato same, it's what I said too. Constant virtue signaling and pearl clutching. It's not that deep. She just wants to please her audience and it comes off as being fake. This is why TS4 is so watered down because privileged babies can't handle ANYTHING negative in their game. It's annoying.
I'm guessing that the rules displayed come with the pack/base game, and then other rules are where pack integration comes in. So if you have cats and dogs, you can add no pets, if you have City Living you might be able to list a basketball court as an amenity etc.
The funny part about this is that I don't know of a single simmer that isn't in the habit of evicting sims. I mean, what happens when you want to play in a house or on a lot that is already occupied? You evict them. Easily, without second thought, without any notice. Just "yeah I want that, go live on the street with your family" and that's that. We have had that in the game since the beginning. The only difference is that we did it as the "god" of our sims universe that just makes things happen. Now we will be able to do it as the sim, which I guess (hope) will have some negative consequences.
Slaves for profit? Fine Killing for money? Fine Selling poisoned food to kill sims? Fine drowning/burning/starving unwanted sims? Fine Stealing other possessions? Fine Kids taken away? Fine BBQing babies? Fine Criminal career? Fine Pet breeding? Fine Land Lord: HOW DARE YOU THIS IS NOT RIGHT THIS SHOULD NOT BE A THING
@@zippers987 Even before clubs, people would lock sims in their basement and make them paint, craft etc for money. Like it's just so bizzare that people are ok with enslaving sims for profit but draw the line at Land Lords smh
@DulceReposa oh okay I think what's happening for people being like eww landlords is that most people, statistically, who play the sims have no experience with slavery, theft, Child protective services etc etc... this is where the "it's just a game" mentality comes in. on the other hand most people have rented or have had experience with a bad landlord. but also Gen Z is like pseudo leftist yknow
@@DulceReposa It's simple. It's because landlords are more commonly the villain/antagonist in people's real lives. It's similar to why Umbridge is more hated than Voldemort. Vastly more people have delt with total assholes than dark wizards.
I like the fact that everything is Southeast Asian but still very versatile to use with the other Basegame stuff. Interested to see what other gameplay there is and if there are more unit rules with other packs.
They have the no ghosts option because they’re going to have a no vampires/mermaids/werewolves/spellcasters option depending on if you own the packs, but they don’t show any cross pack features in trailers !! 🎉
I have childhood memories of my dad, a landlord, rushing out of the house in the middle of the night during a snowstorm or hailstorm to go make sure that his tenants were okay when they called him. I’ve rented a couple times myself. There are quite a few times when buying a house or a condo just doesn’t make sense or work for your current lifestyle. My parents rented the house we lived in when I first started school because they wanted to be sure about the neighborhood and school district. Then they kept renting the same house for over a decade because they liked the house and our landlord.
@@Acide950 The trailer showed that you can set the rent to zero so if that's true that would make it possible to be a "good" *sims* landlord, you'd basically be more of a land steward
@@Acide950 how is that legal robbery lmao. robbery is taking away something that is yours. that property is theirs, not yoursd, what they do with it is their right - living there, renting it or having it sit empty. you are paying for using someone's property
The kitchen floor tiles you can see at 17:47 of your video (in the background of the guy repossessing stuff) are soooooo pretty. And very different from anything we have currently.
I do love how simsie is uncomfortable and guilty about being a landlord sim, but is incredibly chill with stealing from and attempting to kill sims lol Landlords must be too close to home
@@Life_Universe_Everything The only difference is mental gymnastics. I dont mean that in a rude way. I saw a video once that centered around logical fallacies we have about money. One was that when we get unexpected income, for example a $25 Birthday gift, most people are likely to use that money to buy themselves a treat instead of saving it. Theres a logical fallacy to justify the indulgence. This is what it feels like to me. Killing sims isnt just silly fun. Killing is something that happens in real life. Just like evictions and repossessions. There's no difference in severity. It's a logical fallacy.
Part of the fun of the Sims has always been doing morally questionable things that don’t hurt anyone and are presented in a rather lighthearted way. If people don’t like an aspect of gameplay, they can either not engage with that aspect, or not even by the pack.
Can you imagine if people refused to buy the pack and even try to cancle it because they dont like the fact that now landlord exsist in the sims😂 i dont think its likely, kayla is so far the only person i have seen that took any issue with the landlord machnics from a moral perspective, we all know she is going to abuss the heck out of her tennets as stanly and she is going to have fun doing it, she already did a makeshift landlord rags to riches using the roomates mechanics
And even then saying not being paid by your tenant then demanding money is "morally questionable" is hilariously stupid honestly.. what part is morally questionable? The landlord wanting their money or the tenant not paying? They even show in the trailer that you could just give them a second chance and like help them fix things up and get back on their feet if you want. It's like ALL Kayla sees is the dark side of it all and honestly it's getting annoying that every single time it talks about the landlords she has to mention it being "morally questionable".. the landlord is likely paying utilities, definitely paying taxes, possibly even paying for the property itself still, and you're going to be like "HOW DARE THEY WANT MONEY!!"?
The more I see, the more excited I get for this! There’s already some stuff that I’m a little unsure about, but we’ll have to see once early access starts for the creators to post content about
It is nice that the pack is coming before Christmas because a lot of people get it for Christmas and they will be able to get the bonus items. I think most people will probably be able to get the bonus items this time.
I'm only gonna use this to have my extended family live near my Sims so all rent will be free and they will have nice places. I can't bring myself to be any other kind of landlord 😂
Doesn't want to be repossessing objects from tenants. Or demanding overdue rent. Or evicting tenants. All too harsh. Puts a piranha pool in every house she built for her legacy challenge. Then kept letting Sims "accidentally" get killed in them. Lost a triplet. Bought back the triplet. Had it removed by children's services? Had fires in those houses almost every day.... Don't want to demand previously agreed upon rent... 😆 🤣
There's a difference between things that are comically tragic and actually tragic. People don't get eaten by piranhas or have anvils fall on their heads everyday, so when it happens in the sims its kinda funny. Getting evicted, not being able to pay rent, and having things repossessed due to debt are very real life tragedies that happen to people all the time. Add in that we're living in a time with runaway rent inflation and unprecedented wealth inequality and yeah I get that it rubs some people the wrong way. I like the pack, but it feels bad bro. Especially as someone who has genuinely traumatic childhood memories of getting evicted because my mom couldn't make rent. Reality isn't a cute gameplay feature... It's being 10 years old and seeing your favorite dollhouse you dreamed of giving to your own kids one day lying outside in the rain with all your other stuff in garbage bags. Too close to home for some people.
@@Nihilist_Porcupine So we're comparing experiences now? What about people that had a fire tragedy? or drowning tragedy? electrocution? Starving to death? This is like saying I don't like when simmers starve their sims to death because we have actual starving people in the world. or purposefully drowning sims when people actually die from drowning. My friends dad was lost at sea and they eventually found his body that had drowned but she doesn't use that as an excuse to not drown sims. Life sucks. Getting evicted sucks. I know, I was close to that. But comparing a real life game mechanic to actual life shouldn't hinder your game experience. You have the control of being a better land lord (or a horrible one if you're one of those people). There are SO many things that can trigger a person in this game alone but apparently "land lord" is the one that trumps everything. I agree the inflation and cost of living is getting horrendous but there are genuine land lords out there trying to help as well. People literally make SLAVES on this game for profit but no, landlord crosses the line smh
@@DulceReposa Right? I literally just read earlier that someone has a basement full of sims and they’re worried about their sims escaping when they leave the property since they aren’t a part of the household. There’s people being held hostage all over the world right now, as sex slaves, or for other purposes. Being a landlord being a bridge too far is honestly hilariously hypocritical.
@@Nihilist_PorcupineSo be the landlord you wish you had as a child. I'm sorry you went through that, but there's a lot of experiences in the Sims that people go through irl, like my single mom Sim (waaaay back in Sims 1) who choked to death on food and left her kid an orphan (and kids couldn't grow up in Sims 1). It was an accident of the kind that happens every day.
I dunno man. There are reasons why people want to play it and reasons why people don't want to play it. "Cartoon violence" like killing people in a piranha pool or killing and then resurrecting someone does hit as close to home as being evicted from a place because you don't earn enough. Then again, some people want to play those experiences-everyone has their reasons, and it's easy to understand them from a gameplay and society standpoint
i’m actually really excited by the mortar and pestle clutter But also, I hope this pack leads to the possibility of multi-use and mixed-use lots to come to the game
Everyone is so conflicted about being a landlord like we all haven’t killed sims in the most horrid way we can think of😅😅 like, I can’t wait to be an evil landlord personally
Same ! I don't understand the hate of landlords ? Maybe they had bad experiences, but my landlord Is pretty kind. I think it's not fair to hate on all landlords 🤔
“having more than six is going to be a lot on your computer, but I wanna have more than six” -Lilsimsie, fried her PC by spawning in 3000 chickens on a single lot
😂Says she can’t handle being a landlord who repossess but also had a let’s play as Stanley selling poison in the new stands to see how many sims it would kill. 🤣
I think the last expansion pack I bought was university. This is definitely something I’d be interested in though! I was interested in growing together too, but after watching gameplay from simmers and seeing how glitchy the overnight stays were (no unpacking sleeping bags, or guests sleeping at all) and changed my mind. Since that was one of the main features I was excited about
I'm just looking forward to having actual functional/buildable apartments lol. I loved building apartments in Sims 2 and I loved building hotels in Sims 3 so this pack is right up my alley.
I do not understand simmers being okay with murder and cheating and stealing in the game but drawing the line at being a landlord. It is very strange to me.
It is weird that they'd put a radiator inside a home that's meant to be in a tropical/Southeast Asian region. 😅 Would've made more sense to put a standing fan or those portable ACs. Either way, as a Malaysian I'm so excited for this! It felt so nice to see the name "Sungai Point", which just means "River Point" 🥰
shes not saying the pack shouldnt exist she's just saying she'd feel bad??? like i feel bad when my sims dog dies!!! its obviously not like im mourning a real dog, but i still miss the little guy! same concept
@@LulaMae21 because those two things are pretty ridiculous and fictional even if they COULD happen irl... shitty landlords are real and most people gotta deal with them
I imagine the thermostat and sprinkler system will continue to be one per lot items as it appeared in the first trailer that the boiler and electric box are one per lot items too, just put all 4 in a shared basement
I like the idea of building a community, be a great landlord, friendly, helpful, throw some events, the video show him helping someone that cant pay the rent and giving him a second chance, and in the end they have a party with the floating lanterns, i was hoping for you to talk about it. Being a Landlord doesn't need to be bad, it can be used to help people too.
8:40 I think they put the ghost rule bc ghosts sometimes possess items and break them, I can see that interfering with the rent gameplay bc of the maintenance rating.
Didnt she have stanley have a bunch of "roommates" as paint slaves that one time? Why is being an evil landlord that bad? Like yea evil landlords irl are the worst but again . . this is the sims lol
i happen to watched it last night after it was uploaded 13minutes ago AND I already think that i wish kayla would do a reaction video about this fast! I got excited. I am not even playing sims4 but if this expansion pack is good I MIGHT RECONSIDER BUYING AND PLAYING SIMS4. Finally the sims team giving love to the community.
So it looks like each unit might be able to get individual lot traits. The unit menu around 6:56 has the lot trait hexagon below the name. Might mean that you can have a bad side of the rental that has lower rent but is worse quality.
I remember in the Sims 2, I would always delete the repo truck when the repo man would come and as soon as I did that the repo man would dissapear lol.
Early purchase items: Why does the SIMS not give teaser items for the next SIMS pack? Make them be random things, but leave people guessing. And when the next pack comes out, have them be in both games, or replace the items in the first pack to be 3 items for ALL those that get the first pack. What do you think about that idea?
this but instead of adding them to both games or replacing the items, they are added to the game as an item with a single swatch, and then once the teaser game is released and you buy it then you get all the swatches for it.
15:58 I feel like now that we have seen the mechanisms, we NEED to have a multi-family home shell challenge in preparation for the pack! it would be fun inspiration!
I'd like to know how it's possible to furnish an apartment for an unknown family which could have any mix of the life stages, how do you know what beds / toddler beds / cribs are needed
this was the first time in a while that i felt confident the sims wouldnt mess up this feature and it looks like the ui for making units is SUPER intuitive and im just so happy bc i just want to be able to have multiple households on one lot so i love that you can even set the rent to zero for “family” as they put it bc this just solves so many issues i often have in my game where i wish someone would be nearby but i didnt have to play them like i cannot WAIT to build with this pack and play as a tenant frfr
I’m most excited to live my best house hunters international life and make those apartments with “local charm” that the prospective tenant always complains isn’t close enough to expat amenities 😅
I don't really understand what is wrong with being a landlord? Renting is often a really great option for many people for various reasons? I rented houses since I was 17, and then had my own home built at 30. Prior to that I had no desire to own a home as I was moving around for work, getting my career sorted, etc. Plus, 17 year old me did not just have a 20% deposit laying around to buy a house. 🤣 I would love to own rental properties in the future. It provides a necessary service. Maybe Renting/landlords is considered bad in America?
I'm not from the US but afaik instead of landlords owning two places (one for them and one for rent) it's mostly corporations buying large amounts of houses inflating the price, so there are thousands of homeless people and thousands of empty apartments because of corporate greed But as I said this is just what I've heard, don't take me too seriously
As someone who lives in Ireland we have the highest rents in Europe and most of our rental homes are owned by foreign vulture funds. Private Irish landlords are only interested in earning profit from families just trying to survive and we have thousands of homeless children as a result because their parents can't afford rent anywhere. When rent becomes about profit we have failed as a society. Having a home to live in is a human right and should be seen as a social service and not a business.
I never pre-order before a pack drops but I bought MWS on launch day and I don't regret it. Was it bad? Yes. Have I always loved what MWS brings to gameplay, worts and all? Yes. I feel exactly the same about multi-family units in the sims. I have wanted this for the game FOREVER.
sooo excited for this pack! its gonna be so fun for gameplay. also, i hope everyone can take a breath ln the fear of enjoying FICTIONAL landlording 😂its jsut a gameplay mechanic to have fun with just like keeling 20 sims in a house fire. i do think that everyones scared to not say the landlord aspects are fun, cause its such a huge deal irl right now. but we should really use some comparison magic here like, we also keel our sims for fun. we are evil in game for fun, we steal for fun, we are playing a fictional game 🥹 its just a hot topic(irl for good reason) but its not any worse than whats already in the game. also its a bit funny how so many people are constantly complaining about how sims 4 is too kid friendly or pg, how it lacks depth, yet we get scared of mold deaths and stealing? 😂 its ok, sims is a game of play pretend. we are not ruining anyones lives and playing a digital landlord that likes to get everyone moldy wont cause a wave of irl people converting to landlordism and seeding mold everywhere hahah
I can’t wait for this. I love making apartments, townhomes and duplexes (even a few neighborhoods) and they finally can work like they’re meant to be! 😉 I love the new build items and that squatty potty is great given I live half the time in a part of the world that’s got these so I’m totally used to seeing them, though tbh I’ve yet to use one…
Sim guru nova has said on Twitter you can play the pack and never have to be a landlord! They’ve also hinted that there WILL be cross pack compatibility with the rules, so for example it appears we will be able to make a ‘no pets’ rule ect.
Can't really talk about something in the Sims feeling morally wrong when you kill Sims and steal from them all the time 👀 Also, not all landlords are scummy. My husband's family owns an apartment building as well as a few houses that they rent out and they are on property at the apartments daily cleaning, doing maintence, and making sure everything is good (they rent to a charity that gives homes to drug addicts usually and they absolutely trash the place, for example tenants and their squater friends will do meth in the halls, poop on the floor, break windows and try to light the carpet on fire), and they're always on call and have gone out in the middle of the night to unclog a drain or fix something. They don't charge ridiculous amounts and are willing to work with tenants to make sure everything is okay, he goes out weekly and takes out the trash for an elderly tenant that is disabled. Being a landlord doesn't have to be bad.
On the topic of landlording - At the end of the day - I don’t believe in murder either, but I’m still going to remove a pool ladder as needed once in a while lol
I think their logic with focusing on being a landlord vs. renting an apartment and having a landlord is that if you want to just live in an apartment, City Living has been out for like 7 years now
even if leases need to be more than a day or two extended stay style hotels still should be possible. i’m also curious if something would work where the apartments are just the bed/bath with kitchen and other spaces being shared for a max profit/small space style home.
I feel like in a strange way we would be able to build and run hotels with this pack being that we can adjust the lease time, and then spaces like pools, gyms, lounges, bars, etc. could be “shared” spaces
uhhhh such a great idea!
I had the exact same thought just an hour or so ago
Leash time is how often tenants pay, not how long they can stay.
Edit: SimGuru Nova tweeted it wrong. Leash time is how often the tenants can leave without paying extra but they can stay indefinitely unless you evict them.
yes pls!

Yes, they also tend to make a mess (e.g. leave puddles). Some death types even give the ghost sims the ability to kill other sims (indirectly).
I really hope there is, but I’m not getting my hopes terribly high yet

I really hope that the tiny living rules apply too
Somebody asked one of the sim gurus if there was cross pack compatibility with the rules and they replied with a smiley emoji so I’m guessing we’ll have rules for “no (insert supernatural here)” and “no pets” at the very least.

It would have to be more like a kitchen with a buffet table or something… A whole lot of pretending required haha but it could work
but you can do hotels with this pack to some degree :) I don't think hotels will be a thing tbh
@@annoar9776you can, but again, you need to do A LOT of pretending for it to work… 😂
Hotels could’ve been included in this pack (you should also be able to buy a vacation home), but they’d rather release another expansion with barely any new gameplay cuz $$$$$
Honestly, I'm picking up that vibe as well, this 100% feels like the pathway to getting proper hotels
I can definitely see EA charging yet another 40$ for a feature that should have been in this pack or other precious packs.
If they have those cafeteria things from university and highschool years or something along those lines, a restaurant/buffet is more than feasible.
whoever did the voice over for this trailer, i love them! they’re so expressive and sound like they’re smiling and having so much fun while recording :))

Seriously... The double standard is really annoying. I've seen people BBQ babies, but god forbid landlords exist. 🤣 I for one am so thankful for the added realism and gameplay/stories that I'm gonna get from this pack.

Everyone knew this was eventually coming because it's been constantly suggested and demanded since City Living released.
it's so sweet how all the people in the premiere chat are saying 'hi kayla!!!' and 'is kayla here yet???" 😭😭
i understand not wanting play as a landlord - but it’s so funny to me that this is where simmers draw the line morally. it’s fine to feed poison sushi to sims but being a landlord is too much lol
Yeah I don't understand her morality

They definitely took a very positive, community focused approach! 😊
@@katmannssonAnd what should people who can't or don't want to purchase a home do?
i think its a bit more of a "landlords shouldn't exist to begin with" kind of approach. housing should not be kept from people and for a game like sims which a lot of people treat as an escape from reality, to add in rent which is such a real source of stress for so many can be a bit upsetting. i do agree about the gameplay possibilities, super excited for this pack.
Also it’s very hilarious the fact that simsie felt guilty about repo and evicting but literally an hour before this trailer she streamed a 100 baby challenge where she unalived all the dads and had a giant basement grave collections 😭😭
The ghost rule is probably because they often break appliances and landlords appear to be responsible for appliance maintenance

It's funny to me that people are so conflicted with the landlord thing but not killing Sims 😅
If sims are no longer alive, they don't have to deal with crappy landlords lol
I'm actually so hyped for this! You could make like a mini communal kitchen area for everyone!
south east asia is known to believe ghosts a lot, so it's normal for us to consider if the property is haunted or not before picking a place to live 😂 and i think the no ghost unit rule is actually a nice touch to this SEA inspired pack!
Lilsimsie has a whole let’s play where she collects graves and kills sims in death ponds… but eviction crosses a line. 😂🤣
I literally lol’d at my job 😂
Killing people doesn't hit as close to home as being a landlord because (hopefully) you don't deal with dead people on a daily basis, yet leases, rents etc are a very real and stressful concern of a lot of people. TL;DR killing a sim is fine because it's a lot less realistic than dealing with rent, which for a lot of people, is a daily struggle
@SmileAway21 Good for you 👍
@@purplecosmonautMy biggest question is why are you all only stressed about this now?
Evil vs Scummy
What's scummy about making a living renting apartments?
I'm guessing that the rules displayed come with the pack/base game, and then other rules are where pack integration comes in. So if you have cats and dogs, you can add no pets, if you have City Living you might be able to list a basketball court as an amenity etc.
lilsimsie: ew id hate to evict sims, also simsie: yeah i have 200 graves and i killed a lot of them
Her 100 baby challenge basement is in a class of its own….

You don’t HAVE to be a “bad” landlord. You can be a good one, lol. 😂😂
Even the best landlord demands money for letting you use their unused property to live in. Basically legal robbery

@@fruity4820Especially since landlords have been in the Sims as long as there have been apartments.

My fiancé’s grandparents and his uncle live in a duplex that they bought, so I’m probably gonna be doing a LOT of that
Side note, when your building with radiators you should put them beneath windows :) its not necessary or anything its just the realistic thing

@@DulceReposa Right? It was an accident of the kind that happens every day.
I dunno man. There are reasons why people want to play it and reasons why people don't want to play it. "Cartoon violence" like killing people in a piranha pool or killing and then resurrecting someone does hit as close to home as being evicted from a place because you don't earn enough. i feel like we're so close to an update where we can have a shopping lot on one floor and a house above it.
6:51 I’m going to use this to make at the apartments smaller in City living lol
I like the idea of building a community, be a great landlord, friendly, helpful, throw some events, the video show him helping someone that cant pay the rent and giving him a second chance, and in the end they have a party with the floating lanterns, i was hoping for you to talk about it. Being a Landlord doesn't need to be bad, it can be used to help people too.
8:40 I think they put the ghost rule bc ghosts sometimes possess items and break them, I can see that interfering with the rent gameplay bc of the maintenance rating.
i really enjoy that there is a max rent you can set. the sims 4 really said rent control.
The flower candle is so cute ... If this ever goes on sale I might have to buy it, maybe even before I buy weather ...
I kind of love that The Sims 4 Facebook post said “Did someone say merch?” And the first comment said “No we said we want the game to function” lol
This is a game changer. Sims 4 is about to change for the better. Multi-home lots will open so much space in my game ❤
Imagine using one of those big lots and making a small town with a cafe as a shared space so everyone can go
my dream would be fullfilled
I'm literally building something like this right now based on this trailer today!
I'm excited to make a jail and/or asylum. Make a Batman character that goes there to talk to Calendar Man and Joker lol.
I'm planning on a generational spaceship! :D
Youre making me even more impatient for the release!! that's such a good idea
So it looks like each unit might be able to get individual lot traits. The unit menu around 6:56 has the lot trait hexagon below the name. Might mean that you can have a bad side of the rental that has lower rent but is worse quality.
this pack just keeps getting better and better
It’s so funny she’s so hung up on the eviction considering how many people who have been murdered in past series 😂😂
I've been aching to do this with family lots, a ranch hand on my horse ranch, and my tiny home village so I am excited !!!!!🎉🎉
There needs to be like a "No horses" limitation or some sims family is going to move in 5 sims and 3 horses to a studio apartment 😅
I'd like to know how it's possible to furnish an apartment for an unknown family which could have any mix of the life stages, how do you know what beds / toddler beds / cribs are needed
I love how lilsimsie work with EA and makes a living playing the sims but still never sugarcoats anything about the game!!!!!
I would love to do legacy challenges with this pack, so I can just keep all the generations on one lot.
this was the first time in a while that i felt confident the sims wouldnt mess up this feature and it looks like the ui for making units is SUPER intuitive and im just so happy bc i just want to be able to have multiple households on one lot so i love that you can even set the rent to zero for “family” as they put it bc this just solves so many issues i often have in my game where i wish someone would be nearby but i didnt have to play them like i cannot WAIT to build with this pack and play as a tenant frfr
As a land lord in real life, trust me we do not want to have to evict people, it is not fun for us. There’s good landlords out there!
It’s just a another one of those trendy “all X are bad” sorta mindsets this generation has. I wouldn’t think too hard about it.
I'm not from the US but afaik instead of landlords owning two places (one for them and one for rent) it's mostly corporations buying large amounts of houses inflating the price, so there are thousands of homeless people and thousands of empty apartments because of corporate greed
But as I said this is just what I've heard, don't take me too seriously
Exactly. It’s a life simulation game at the end of the day.
Lilsimsie: Makes a painting sweatshop
Lilsimsie: I'm conflicted about this whole landlord thing
I do understand the guilty feeling about being a landlord but we do have to remember it’s just a video game
But being a landlord is gonna be a great… we needed more careers for evil sims!!!
Sim guru nova has said on Twitter you can play the pack and never have to be a landlord! They’ve also hinted that there WILL be cross pack compatibility with the rules, so for example it appears we will be able to make a ‘no pets’ rule ect.
Can't really talk about something in the Sims feeling morally wrong when you kill Sims and steal from them all the time 👀
Also, not all landlords are scummy.
