Imo bushiroad approach to the 3 deck set was pretty good(Revenger, Jewel Knight, and Musketeer). Old units gets new errata support and I was hoping they keep doing that for all other clans soon. However, it doesn't seem it's going that way because it's been almost a year and they haven't announced anything yet. Probably because of the sales of those products. I understand they're trying to run a business and trying to make money.
I just wish they made more sub clan crests and errata strides. I think that is a great idea to keep interest. Supporting decks that are behind and renewing them is what i care more about. Not the next toolbox to splash into the same consolidated bdif gran blue and megacolony decks.
If it makes players go and mess around with older cards, it makes them more engaged with playing around with stuff.

@@astralsusanoo9906 I would generally agree, but I also think consistently making errata’s to old cards is just a cop out in a way. If you made archetypal main deck support for some of these clans (more accessible than G1 crest generators), I think that might be a fresher approach with a similar outcome.

Great video man!! Been pretty sick of people being toxic with their constant complaints and cynicism. A video like this talking about cool design space is a much more enjoyable watch.
I find it weird that people are calling Premium stale. People over in MTG used to LOVE the fact that Modern was a format that you could buy into and your deck would be viable for years to come, with small changes. That’s what Premium is now. Standard MTG sets have cards that are relevant in Modern every so often, so the format changes slowly. Premium is currently the same. I personally am glad there’s a format that isn’t changing literally every month because it means I have more time to explore and enjoy decks and strategies, whereas if I want a super dynamic, changing format, I can play Standard.
With that in mind, here is my Premium wishlist card-design wise:
1) A stride for each nation that only works if you have the persona ride icon and that gives you a pay-off for doing the thing that nation does best. We want to be careful with balancing them, but we want it to be good enough to incentivize people to experiment with Standard bosses in Premium. Basically, I agree with what you said.
2) A cray elemental G-unit that, like Harmonics Messiah, has an ability that gives you the energy generator. Plenty of decks don’t care about energy, so it wouldn’t be an ultra-staple like Harmonics Messiah is. What it would do it make it easier for Standard cards to be Premium-relevant.
So yeah, my wants design-wise would make it so we don’t NEED dedicated product as often for Premium to be supported.
As for product though, I would like a Premium collection that supports all 24 clans every 1-2 years. I think it would be brilliant product design to also release a few decksets together with those premium collections that are good out of the box, but can be upgraded with new support from the set. Once again, drawing inspiration from MTG, their Commander precons that come out with each set are good out of the box and great when upgraded with support from the set they’re released with.

I appreciate the thoughtful comment, and like where your head is at with the cray elemental G zone unit! That could definitely be a way to enable us to utilize energy in premium if that’s the route they want to go down.
I do agree that an eternal format like modern brings long term value and enjoyment. I’ve enjoyed experimenting and diving into decks throughout the last two years, and would definitely agree that the release pace gives us time to do that.
Yes, a lot of people have the opinion that the format is stale and give off a negative vibe , but I honestly love tier 2 Jank and the flexibility the format gives us. I’ll keep supporting in whatever way I can, thanks again for checking out the video :)

Agree, we can keep legacy premium but introduce ride deck premium and eventually phase out legacy premium like v
Only if you can only have d series cards in ride deck and no stride bearer that have crests and even then it might Still be lol
Yeah, something like putting a G1, G2, and G3 just to make sure you are not going to grade stuck.
My main want for premium is for Buishi to pull the trigger and put ride decks in the format. I would like it to be an errata for all D series and G series starters to have the ability to let you use it. Also in order to avoid too crazy interactions and new rule that states you must fully ride in the ride deck before you can ride anything else and the ride deck can only contain D and G era cards. This way you are trading in power for consistency.

Just got a chance to watch this! Great video and love the idea if we get new cards that help synergize with the current Standard cards. Would make it easier for current Standard players to try out premium more. Basically become almost like Standard+ decks, like we've seen before.
Very nice you used Furiargus as example. When I revealed the card, I also was thinking really hard what current Stoicheia decks could benefit from it. Generating gifts is important and helps most decks. I remember thinking of Zorga, Magnolia, Flagburg decks using a stride like this. And you're right, Flagburg is the best one to take advantage of it due to the similar AqF style.

I think they should have incorporated energy into the game as a whole and not lock it behind. Ride deck. Should’ve just made it a game mechanic rather than ride deck mechanic. I feel like that would’ve been a great bridge btw premium and strand allowing a better card pool from all the new cards that have come out that all cost energy and such. Plus gives an additional way to pay a cost in premium which we still need.
I think an easy fix is to give all D series Grade 3 units the ability to generate a marker in premium. I think this would create a huge incentive to try new builds and wouldn't make all D cards nearly irrelevant in premium. Possibly builds that involve things such Marker generation + persona ride for heavier turns. I think it's time we do at least attempt to breakaway from this History Stride builds as they are very good, they are what made the game stale at the moment.
I would rather they do something to incorporate the ride deck. There are enough cards that interact directly with having a ride deck and the whole new resource is hard locked to the ride deck crest. They could do some interesting things and do some choice restrictions to balance it if they had the courage to just add it.

It’s still slower / a trade off to things like the history strides. So please, elaborate or your point is mute. Or come up with something better :) because I can admit that this game has plenty of room to grow.

I mean... the issue is that Bushiroad looks only for Japan. And for me, the answer i got was G-format. Playing "time wizard" formats made vanguard pretty great, tho.
what i think will happen is they will bring every premium boss unit into D sto they have 1 format once again
The premium decks from this year were such a disappointment for me. They're such good entry products, 11/10 design (ideally we get another entry product that's cheaper, don't love the price gating of the format, but that's neither here nor there). They had such a good entry point into the format and didn't back it up with a premium collection, it would've have been awesome to say, here's a great deck to get into the format, and if you want to upgrade it try this stride or g guard coming out in a few months
honestly prem is about to die.. if you understand business.. Bushiroad is trying to snuff it out... I love your videos but look at the landscape in the business sense
I can see where you’re coming from with this, but I also think it’s in a very interesting state as well. We’ve received 3 unique premium products over the last year or so. I think they’re still testing the waters with what sticks and doesn’t, while still trying to balance this game of catch up to standard JP.
The west is still into premium, and I think with the expanded standard market they now have - there is definitely opportunity for the format to grow

Not a huge fan of the current crest system, but there might be a tweak or altered iteration we receive that might make a positive impact overall. At the very least, I think with a little out of the box design - it could be cool to shake things up a bit
@AlexCFV Maybe, I play standard and premium and on both I've found crests too be a negative game mechanic
I might catch some flak for this but I am not a fan of stride decks in Standard, so I definitely agree with you there at least haha

Personally what needs to be done is Errata out all the V era gift marker icons and replace them with persona ride icon, have legion required to have the same base power as listed on the card between the two units, ban the Grade 1 cards that specifically give a crest when riding on the grade 0, as well as ban the cards/hard errata cards that ride up a turn early
so make it standard but everyone has strides....
@@rongill1234 No, Premium cannot have a ride deck cause of the grade 1 crest cards specifically
@shirayukinobunaga9424 oh its more than the crests that I believe premium can't have ride lines like dailiner etc. I was saying tho it could maybe be looked at if you were forced to run all d cards in ride line including starter and you couldn't put crests in rideline. Oh you have to use the ride line too
@@rongill1234 Just put a restriction that you can only ride cards with no clan, there you have it, ride deck in premium and D decks usable.

It’s just not financially worth it to Bushi from what it looks like since it’s really only the west that plays premium. On top of a stale format for the past two years
What exactly is stale? There have been many things that have came out that has made decks way better than they were 2 years ago. Case in point musketeers, jewel knights, shiranui and I can keep going 2 of thosevdecks I named top tier now and the other is right behind
@@rongill1234 the topping decks are all doing unfair things in comparison to everything else and it makes it unfun when another deck does what you do much better on top of most locals not really doing VG in general they mostly will gravitate doing standard since it’s more consistent to fire. Imo Premium is just Commander at home with House rules not using GB, Megacolony(Gredora), Katrina and Shiranui.
JP only doesn’t play Premium cuz there’s no tourneys for it. If JP regularly held tourneys for Premium like the West does then it would be popular there too.

@@rongill1234Lol I can see why you shouldn’t comment now. You literally in denial and don’t even know the current landscape of the game. The game has been in limbo realistically since the shiranui deck set dropped, and only direct counters to the deck have been relevant. 9 months of stale gameplay, as well as having our banlist skipped over. 2 years is too long for any card game to not see any significant changes, and no a reprint set with 3 crests is not enough.
