- How to Crochet Corner to Corner Square in Half Double Crochet with Marly Bird. You can use the C2C technique to crochet a variety of different things. In this tutorial, you'll learn how to work in hdc stitch to create a square which you might use to make anything from a dishcloth to a blanket.
In this free crochet video tutorial you will learn the concept of crochet corner to corner and how to accomplish it. Marly uses half double crochets for her "squares" but you could change it up and use double crochets without any problem. However, most of the designs you see out there are dc so it's fun to practice the corner-to-corner technique in a new stitch.
Make sure you watch to the very end to get a sneak peek at a couple wonderful C2C blankets designed by Marly Bird.
Follow along with the FREE PATTERN for a simple square blanket which is available here: www.yarnspirations.com/red-he...
Yarn Used: Worsted Weight
Hook Size Used: J/6mm
In the blanket design, I used Red Heart Super Saver yarn: www.yarnspirations.com/red-he...

This was the 3rd tutorial I watched on this C2C technique, the other 2 left me confused but this tutorial has me moving right along! I am making my 1st blanket.
That’s fantastic
I love how you teach. You are really great at teaching and you make it so easy to understand. Please keep making videos. Thanks!!
I learned in one day. I have done 2 projects in corner to corner it is awsome
This has got to be one of the best instructionals for C2C I have ever seen. And drawing the diagram out on paper and following through with the arrows pointing out the directiion of crochet stitches etc....wow. Definitely going to look up more of your videos.
Your instructions are very clear, thank you for sharing 😊
Great visual! Thanks Marly!👍
Excellent tutorial, thankyou.
you made it so simple to understand, I couldn't get it before I found you. Thx so much. its cool and I enjoy it and have only done three rows! lol
Marly Bird, you are one great teacher, so clear and the best I've seen. My only problem, and it's just a personal thing as my sense of direction is impaired, is not being able to see the whole paper pattern on your video. Other than my own problem, thank you for being so clear in your directions.
Iove the pattern. You do a great job of teaching.
WOW ..... this C2C stitch is done sooo different by sooo many.... I have been watching nearly all the C2C videos that are on RUclips, and most join with a slip stitch... Then when they are doing a decrease it's a 50/50 of simply turning the piece and doing the slip sts. but some are chaining one as a turning chain. ... Then a lot of demos. are chaining 2 for the half double crochet stitch.... Then I have seen some that are chaining 5 & 2 with reg. double crochet stitch. I'm a well seasoned VERY experienced with Crochet, 50 + yrs. I have not done a C2C project, I'm fond of Tunisian simple stitch... So I am preparing to make a blanket in the C2C and was doing my research, on the method.... Only to learn that there are Many! methods..... This has got to be one of the most versatile Crochet stitch methods I have ever encountered. BTW, I'm very fond of your videos, and RED HEART made a big mistake selling out to "Yarnspriations"
Excellent! I can read patterns but I love visuals. Your explanation is just great. Now I can start on my baby afghan. Thank you Marly. :)
that's a very cool crocheting trick...
it looked way difficult too...
thx a bunch 😁😀😄
Best video on C2C i've seen, Thank You. "Addictive" is right :)

Awsome teaching
Interesting. I’ve been crocheting this stitch for 40 years and never thought to use hdc instead of dc.
Perfect
Que lindo
The original pattern is 1 ch3 and then 3 dc but this video is great too.
I would like to know where u get the pattern? I can’t find it n excellent job . Thanks Rita
Can you make this using left hand tutorial please
You are a great teacher...Thank you
en castellano por favor todo
Hi Marly! I am doing a baby blanket and the border I’ve chosen has to be in increments of 4 plus one for each corner. How do I know how many “squares” to make to ensure I get this result? Do I need to single crochet around the edge first and force the correct number or are the stitches such that I can do a 1 for 1 single round? I hope this question makes sense to you. Also, how big do I make a baby blanket?????
C2C Muster
Love doing this
How can I get the writing pattern
Hi how do you make a grid to follow do I know how much yarn I need
How can this be done in a way that decreases the size of the holes made? I'm not a fan of holes 😬. Maybe chain two instead of three?
Yes, exactly! :-)
try a smaller hook
Evie rich ugh
Slip stitch
do the 5 and 2 chains stitch for smaller holes.
I am making a C2c blanket. I want it to be at least 55" wide and length. How many blocks are needed before I start the decrease
That would all depend on the gauge of your hook and yarn. I think if you are able to just "wing it", then begin to crochet and when it looks about even start to decrease.
The pattern I am wanting to work shows the diagonals running in the opposite direction of what you are showing. As in for row 2 instead of working up and to the right I would be working down and to the left. How would I do that?
Reverse the corner that you start on..... instead of start on the right....... Just start on the left
can u use different types of yarn?
+SlowphiaGamer of course
Great video. Wish you'd described how to make a rectangle though.... There's other videos out there that say but not quite as clear in general, as your videos are.
Crochet Corner to Corner Snowflake Blanket ruclips.net/video/z5piMs-Ku_s/видео.html
This explains how to do a rectangle
The pattern for download is a snowflake C2C not the the one Marley is creating
So is it 3 hdc including the ch3 space?
1 chain 3 and then three half double crochets.
Just a quick question I am making a CC afghan but using double crochet instead of HDC my problem is stopping the afghan I will follow you when you get to that point Thank you for all that you do
+Linda Giacomozzi that's great! You can totally use double crochet instead of HDC. The technique/process is the same :)
Hello Marly! Did you make your sweater?? Could you share with us the name and how to make it?? Thanks! Love learning from your videos😊
+Maureen Mom sad to say, no. I purchased it at TJ Maxx.
Why are the holes so big ?
Question, could you do this by using SC? I e always done it with DC but I have a really big graphgan to do and was thinking if I do SC it would decrease the size
I think you could but I don't think that I would.
I am new to this pattern. Your C2C corner to corner stiches has too many holes in it; albeit, you use half double crochet stiches. Instead, would double crochets possibly work better. I don't get it??
Hi Marly! My question is, can you explain why you use the SC st vs the SL ST before your HDC? just a tad curious :) Thank you for such great videos
Honestly, I liked the way it looked. :-)

How long does it take to make it
depending on the size of your project and how fast you crochet it could be as little as a couple hours to months.
Marly Bird
I
That would depend on How much time you have to give to your crochet project, everyone is different.
?
ME GUSTAN SUS TRABAJOS ,PERO SI POR LO MENOS ESTUVIERA SUBTITULADO EN ESPAÑOL SERIA MAS AGRADABLE PARA LAS PERSONAS QUE NO SABEMOS IDIOMAS,SEGUIRE DE TODAS FORMAS VIENDOLOS GRACIAS
She news
Lmao
Angle of the camera along with the speed you are going, doesn't help us learn. Sorry, but I like to see what is being done not just the graph. :(
Did you watch the whole video? Not everybody learns the same way. Hope you find a video that works for you. Thanks. :-)
