    Thank you, this helped me fix the issue of having little lines of color where they shouldn't be. Never thought to include inside the last weave of the block. I had only done bars of diagonal colors, this is my first attempt at making a picture

    This will be hard for me, however I completely understand it. I had an ah hah! moment. I've been crocheting for under two years and have scoured the internet for patterns etc and your patterns and tutorials have been the easiest to read. Thank you so much! Especially because I have no patience for learning new things.

    Colorwork gives me a huge headache and this was massively helpful more than any other tutorial!! The only thing I still can’t get is when a color isn’t used for one full (c2c) row, how do I manage that? It’s a color that will make up the major of the background in the pattern and it would be a huge pain to have to cut and weave in ends every time this happens 🥲

    • @mooglyblog
      @mooglyblog  3 месяца назад

      Thats where you use bobbins - let it hang out until you need it again. Sometimes the background color has lots of bobbins!

  • @veesea8889

    Thank you Tamara, all very helpful. I've just started making my fourth graphgan (I'm more of an Amigurumiest, but C2C gives me more of that crochet-for-days action 😁) and though my...um..."method" works "ok" (I'm a tight crocheter), I wanted the colour changes to be even more less visible, whilst having fewer ends to weave in...we all hate those ends, and the graphgans I've been making (all by Two Magic Pixels) have A LOT of ends!!
    Whichever method a person uses, there's going to be some, erm, finessing of the next yarn colour. I'll give your methods some more practise. I'm liking them so far 😎👍🏻 Especially carrying a previous colour over a few blocks from the left side (purple colour at the end of your vid), looks great on my practise piece. The other method I like is bringing the next colour yarn up to the height you need for the slip stitch...that one I need to watch a few more times and practise. Happy crocheting and great video!! 🥰

    Hi, this is great. You showed how to pick up a colour that is one block "ahead" and two blocks "ahead", but how far ahead does it stop making sense to do it this way? Or can you do it any number of blocks ahead as long as your tension is fine?

    • @mooglyblog
      @mooglyblog  2 года назад

      It's a matter of personal comfort, but I'd probably only do up to 3, just because it starts getting really difficult to keep the tension right. Thank you! ♥

    • @mooglyblog
      @mooglyblog  2 года назад

      I'm not sure exactly what sort of changes you're thinking of, but I do recommend blocking your squares, either with just water or steam. That can help them look a lot better! Beyond that, you can add or remove rounds, or even add some surface crochet!

    Why do we try to avoid weaving in? Is it just because it’s extra work or does it make a messier product?
    Could you show how you weave in the ends for neatness? There aren’t long strips of consecutive stitches like in Granny squares or row-crocheting to make it easy.

    • @mooglyblog
      @mooglyblog  2 года назад +2

      A little bit of both? Weaving in ends adds bulk, and it is most people's least favorite part of colorwork. When you don't have a lot of space to weave in the ends, I recommend using the method where you send the yarn through the stitches in one direction, and then turn 180 degrees and go back the other way, being sure to split through the first section with your yarn needle. As long as the yarn cooperates, that's the most secure weave in, within a small space.

    How do you know which is the right side and wrong side?

    • @mooglyblog
      @mooglyblog  2 года назад

      Hopefully it is indicated in the pattern as you begin, but if you're just working from a graph, then usually you start with square one in the bottom left corner, and consider that the Right Side - so odd numbered rows on the right side, even numbered rows on the wrong side. :)

    • @bba.by.marilyn
      @bba.by.marilyn 2 года назад

      @@mooglyblog so when you change colours it doesn't matter if you leave the old colour at the back or bring it to he front? Thanks.

    • @mooglyblog
      @mooglyblog  2 года назад

      Try to leave any hanging tails or bobbins on the wrong side as you go, but you can always pull an end to the back before weaving it in if needed. :)

    • @mooglyblog
      @mooglyblog  2 года назад

      @@bba.by.marilyn It depends - if it's attached to a bobbin, you'll want to leave it in back to pick it up on the return. If you've cut the end, then you can just weave it in on the wrong side when you're done. :)

  • @ofina7
    @ofina7 2 года назад

    Sorry, and what about picking up again a colour that you dropped a few blocks ago?

    • @mooglyblog
      @mooglyblog  2 года назад +1

      If you want to use the same bobbin, you'll need to crochet over that color in the stitches in between, tapestry style. If it's more than a couple blocks, you'll probably want to start a new bobbin.
