NOTES ON SHABBAT/SABBATH:
Whether you are Jewish, observant ( shomer shabbbat) or not, have coworkers that are Jewish or just our of curiosity to better understand the world around you, this 5 part serie on Sabbath Celebration twill help you better understand the shabbat celebration in Judaism and what is really shabbat.
Sabbath celebration in Judaism is at it's core
Not only is keeping the Sabbath or keeping shabbat is the 4th of the 10 Commandments but it is a essential point that is repeated again and again in the Torah ( Jewish Bible)
The sabbath /shabbat celebration in 2020 in essence is not different than the way we celebrated shabbat in the 19th centuries minus the quarantine/ social distancing situation! We still enjoy the shabbat food, the same rules on sabbath and guidelines, we do the same prayers as well as great everyone with a heartfelt SHABBAT SHALOM which means peace on your shabbat. Because when you day of Sabbath is peaceful you cannot truly connect with its essence and your true inner self: your better self, your true holy potential that is expressed through the celebration for your sabbath!
Shabbat is the time of rest not in a a way that we should sleep all day on Shabbat to have more energy on the rest of the days! On the contrary, the sabbath/shabbat is there for us to renew our spiritual energy, our connection with G.d and re-align our true direction in this world, to make sure that our life has a purpose, is meaningful and that we pass to our children , our family our friends and people that we meet this joy of disconnecting from the material things and connect with the ultimate truth and source of Energy: G.od!
If you have more questions on this SHABBAT SHALOM SERIE like what is shabbat, how to celebrate it, ... please stay tune for the next instalments of this 5 part series on The Sabbath/shabbat as we will answer more questions as well as much much more!
Stay safe, healthy and blessed

frum it up why thank you! Blessings to you and your family❤️ oh my! Well hopefully we’ll all be able to go out soon! Your kids must be dying to go places and do things.
Mariah Q. Yessssa!!! They need to get out more that in the garden or under COVID-proof PPE!!!
I am not Jewish. I do follow Abrahamic and Moshe ... Next year i have planned to follow some of rhe Sabbath rules. Starting by not working on Saturdays. Thank you Sara Malka your videos are very inspiring to me
I loved the phrase “we are invited to the table of Hashem”. It made me teary. Thank you
Awww virtual hugs coming your way Jeanne!
You are right,
I know I easily forget the point you are bringing forth that we are guests at Hash.em’s table and world 🌎!
The blooper was hilarious and clever. 😂😂😂
I’m moving my life to be observant of the Sabbath (not Jewish yet)
Your videos are making Shabbat more acceptable.
happy to help!
Hi!arious out-take at the end.
I absolutely love your videos Dr. Sara! ❤️❤️❤️ You make life look easy, and many times it is, we tend to make it harder. Organization is a key component to an easier, and less stressful life! 😊❤️🙏🏻✝️✡️
I am so blessed that I found your channel 🇦🇺🙂
thank you so much for being here Marie-Lynn :)
I'm amazed that your coffee pot is designed for shabbat. Only at Jewish stores I suppose. 👍
I as wondering if all your prepared food was eaten cold (I started binge watching from most recent to oldest videos). How I see you have a heating tray. That's wonderful. Thank you got for beautiful and informative and entertaining videos.
Shabbat prep can be so overwhelming and time consuming ty for the tips on making it easier!!
Sonya's Prep it is sooo true!!! For me, as a MD, the only way I can come into Shabbat calmly and peacefully is by prepping for it all week little by little! What was you favorite tip?
You are just as organized and give amazing ideas! I love both of you and I appreciate everything you share 🤗
Thank you so much! I absolutely love this video! I am not Jewish, but I am a Sabbatarian and your tips are very helpful. Trying to do everything in one day, before the sun goes down, can be overwhelming and leave you stressed and short tempered going into Shabbat. Your tips are helpful for anyone who keeps the Sabbath.
Hello my friend thank you so much for your kind words and your lovely comment I am delighted that this video could help you I also hope that the other videos on the channel about Shabbat prep and how to ease into Shabbat with my Shabbat routines will also be helpful to you I hope to read from you soon wishing you and your family a blessed week
It seems to me that you’re a very organised woman. To work full time, look after three children & prepare for Sabbath. I take my hat off to you. 🇦🇺
Hi Christopher!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
I really try to be organized but it’s not the reality every day! Sometimes I’m pretty good at it BH and sometimes, weeeeellllll let’s just stay it so much!
It’s an ongoing learning curve!!
What does the man do? Work his 1 job? So confused....
@@chiefswife1212 hello again my friend!
The man is included in the Shabbat prep at different levels depending on what as a couple they have decided!
Some man will cook and bake and the woman will help in other ways
Some man will do the shopping for Shabbat or the cleaning
Men and women are a team and there are no set rules as per who does what!
I hope it helps!
Such a beautiful video! So informative and so inspiring
Hi, im neither Jewish or kosha, but i absolutely love your videos as you give such consise and clear recomendations and tips for both food and organisation. I am a grandmother who looks after 1 of my grandchildren full time so i like to use a lot of your tips and tricks, thank you so much for being so welcoming x
Aww w thank you so much Liz! Your comments touched my soul and made all the trials and tribulations to make my videos all worthwhile! Xoxoxo

Do Orthodox Jewish husbands not participate in the household in any way? I can't wrap my head around all that you do. I love your videos and I love learning about your faith practices. May you always be blessed!
hi Maggie! they do help!
@@frumitup Thank you for answering my question. It was a cultural question, and I was definitely not being disrespectful. There's just my husband and me now, and two cats. The kids are grown and gone. There are days I can barely brush my teeth when I'm really battling a number of issues. If it weren't for my husband our house would cease to function in a tidy, orderly fashion. I can't imagine doing all that you do by yourself. Blessings~
❤ this is my favorite video of yours super sweet and smooth ❤
LOL. That ending.
Lovely 😍
Thanks for any tips to do things more efficiently or better. I've been prepping for Shabbos and Yontif for over 60 years; but am not naturally organized, so I can always use ideas.
Thank you so much, is so relaxing for me to listen to your tips for SHABBAT!!!MAY HASHEM BLESS YOU AND ALL YOUR LOVED ONES, ALWAYS AMEN ve AMEN!!!💗✡🕎💗
thank you Judith-Josefina:)
what do you do to facilitate your preparations for shabbat?
@@frumitup unfortunately, for now I can't keep Shabat, only in my heart,i'm married with a Christian for more than 40 years,I was rose up as a christian, because my mom, even she was jewish, because of the holocaust, lost her faith and she married my father who was also a Christian, so my sister and me were rose up as Christians, but my sister moved in Israel 20 years ago,and after a while she got a CD casset with lessons about TORA, and from that moment she begun to live by our Holy TORA, and she started to teach me the basics, which Rabbys I have to listen, and now,I begun myself to learn, but I can't apply to many things because my husband won't accept them,so I learn, only when he is asleep, in the nights, and I pray to our haKADOSH BARUCH-U to forgive and help my 2 sons and me,to make the necessary changes in our lives...forgive me,for this long answer, but I wanted to respond to your question truthfully! May HaShem bless and protect you and all your loved ones, always AMEN ve AMEN!!!♥️🤗💗

Hi MA! Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment!
I agree with you: our children see us and they will mimic how we feel and our love or hatred of holidays, Shabbat,… it’s not always easy to watch our every move! Is it a challenge for you sometimes?
Thank you Again For Your Kind Words

Great tips! Thank you!
Johnny607 thank you Johnny for watching! What was your most useful tip?
I liked the last comment you made that if the children see us rushing and stressed and angry right before Shabbat they will associate bad feelings concerning this day and it may have some unfortunate consequences. Thank you! May you and your family be blessed!
Johnny607 AMEN! 🥰 Thank you so much for your very thoughtful comment. It really means a lot to us that you got something out of this video:) May you and your family be blessed with peace, love, harmony, health and a deep connection with Hash.em:) shabbat shalom!
Thank you!! Wonderful tips and reminders!
Carol Abdallah good morning Carol!
Thank you for visiting our corner on RUclips and commenting:)
What was your favourite tip?
What do you usually do during the week to prepare Shabbat?
Looking forward to “reading” you soon!
Thank you again for watching!
Stay blessed Carol!❤️
frum it up Thank you for responding. I always start preparing for Shabbat a few days prior by first completing our menu and on Thursday, I always start my stock. What I really liked about your video is that you start planning and baking Sunday. I loved that you focus on why we keep Shabbat and that we need to be focused on the spiritual, not letting stress tie us down.
Carol Abdallah hi Carol!
Of course I will answer to you! You are so special
For taking time In Your busy schedule to write a comment!
I love to hear how you prepare for Shabbat with your stock! It sounds niiuuummmm!
I am grateful that you thought some of the ideas of the video resonated with you specially not let the stress be associated with Shabbat!
For me it’s always on the back of my mind not to let our family specially the children feel the stress with Shabbat and Yom Tov because children who see their mom stressed will learn to dislike Shabbat/ Yom Tov G.d forbids!
I am looking forward to hear from you soon Carol!
Stay safe and blessed!
frum it up Hi, I completely agree with you. I’m pretty serious about my stock whether it be for soup or to use in rice. I start with either chicken thighs or a whole chicken. Before I add anything, I bring the chicken and water to a boil. I skim off the crud Then, I add a onion with the skin on, a whole head of garlic cut in half, several carrots and celery, I add chicken base and salt. My family is Lebanese, so it’s customary to add a cinnamon stick and a lemon. I don’t add those if I’m making soup with the stock. I bring everything to a boil, cover and simmer for two hours. After two hours, I let my stock sit for an hour before I strain it. It always comes out delicious
Carol Abdallah wooooowwwww Carol! This stock recipe seems sooooooooo delicious! I love the idea of cinnamon: it must make it extra special!! I will definitely try this! Thank you for your generosity to share your recipe! If you have other staple recipes that you want to share please do! Stay blessed sweet Carol!❤️
Vvv inspiring
Thank you ❤️❤️
My favourite one is the the last minute tips before Shabbat! So useful👍🏼
Thank you so much! I also love the feeling of the last walk through the house before lighting the candles for Shabbat! Are you able to get ready before Shabbat?
frum it up let's just say I am grateful for my wife!!!
Professor Michel looolll May G.d bless her!!!
Professor Michel don’t forget to tell her!!!
Blooper is hilarious btw!!!!!!
JewishEducationatHome I’m glad you liked it!! I LOVED IT TOO:) Isn’t it a great idea to have some “me time” on Shabbat? Would you try it?
I am rollllinggggg with the couch cutout at the end. Hahahahah. 🤣🤣🤣
I wish I had one too sometimes 😂🤣😂🤣😂! ❤️❤️❤️
@@frumitup that was the funniest thing I’ve seen in a while…I needed that chuckle. 🥰🤣
Great tips!
Jar of Fireflies thank you so much! Since you are and arts and craft master: I am sure you are super organized for Shabbat no?
frum it up you should check out my vlog where I did Shabbat prep! It’s a video of everything I was doing on Friday to get ready for Shabbat! It’s in my Jewish holidays playlist if you have any trouble finding it ❤️
😀😬 Jar of Fireflies I already saw them : you know i am a fan of yours! I I could not wait and prepare as many things as you do on Friday because I am working 40+hours per week, including working on Friday hence for me i need to prepare shabbat every day a little bit at a time!
frum it up yes working from home (me) makes a big difference. If for no other reason than the commute time is nil!
@@jaroffireflies LOL:) that is for dang sure! to be honest it is a good gymnastic for me and also a good life lesson for our children to see /experience that it is not because you are busy that you cannot make shabbat happen peacefully:) you are awesome as always!
SABBATH SHALOM
Hi!
Shabbat shalom Yesu Babu!
I've done that, prepare food little by little and freeze it. Such good tips! This was a beautiful video, as always. SHabbat shalom dear friend!

Dear Sara Malka, thank you for this video, its wonderful to watch how you prepare for the Shabbat queen. I love how you prepare you clothes on Friday morning. I, one year ago changed my working times, to Monday till Friday, means I am home on Friday, to prepare the food, challah, clean....so I guess I will go with some of your tips and spread it over the week. Love when Shabbos is here this week. May I ask you a question please? Could you perhaps make a video about tichels and techniques...I would really appreciate that. I love my tichels but would love to learn more. Thank you very much ❤
Here is a link to her video on tichels and techniques. 💓 ruclips.net/video/-aEdry50u3A/видео.html
How many weeks is Shabbat Dr. Sara? ❤
Every week from Friday night to Saturday night
With ALL you do, does your husband help out around the home too?
Yep!
What is the Sabbath Queen?
G.od is seen as the King of kings and the shabbat Queen is his bride that He graces us with her present every week
Learn Cajun foods, they always taste better the day after. Boudin, Jambalaya are good starts, where you can substitute meats, but leave seasoning the same. Then if you have a solar oven, it should not violate Shabbat.
Hi Noone!
Thank you for your comment! I would love to be fluent in Cajun cuisine! Do you have any good cookbook or maybe a good RUclips channel to recommend?
Looking forward to reading you again soon!
Stay safe and blessed Noone!
@@frumitup Justin Wilson Looking back series is in You Tube. Now, these are general parameters remember. Three basics of Cajun food is onion, bell pepper and celery. I suggest adding pablanos peppers or using in place of bell pepper, but the more veggies you have, the better it is for you. Then use cayenne pepper to taste. Thing about cayenne, use just what's needed to.open taste buds up so everything else taste is tasted better. If you like pepper, add more, but some do not care for hot, so use just a little until you find what's comfortable for you. Always add garlic towards the end of cooking. Jambalaya is usually made with say chicken and sausage, which beef sausage is good. But he has an eggplant Jambalaya too. He likes to add wine. Me, I never cared for wine added to foods. But like New Orleans Red Beans and Rice. Cook them long and slow until they become creamy and of course you have your seasonings. Then use beef sausage and make sure you have corn bread. If you like vegan, beyond meat and other vegan sausages are good too. I always like to crumble the cornbread and mix with my beans and add a few drops of Tabasco sauce.
Then there's Etouffe, often used with crawfish, but, mild fish marinaded in crab boil seasoning can be used. Essentially it's a seasoned gravy called a roux, which Justin Wilson can show how to make too. The little details make a difference.
Thanks for asking, I hope the recipes bring many happy meals😂!
@@Noone-rt6pw wooowwwww thank you so much Noone for your super detailed answer! I will look up Justin Wilson for sure: if you like him, and you are obviously a pro for Cajun cuisine, that’s the beat reference for sure!!!
Thank you again for being here and taking the time to help me: it means a lot to me!
Stay safe and blessed sweet Noone ❤️
Do men ever bake or cook for hours for shabbat?
Hello chief’s wife ( I looovvvveeee your handle!!)

It’s all depending on the couple!
Please let me know if you have other questions : I would LOVE to help!

Hi yesu babu!
Thank you so much for your comment of course if you need anything please let me know and it’s gonna be my pleasure to assist you have a great day and Shabbat shalom
💯🙏🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Also, all kids need to work in the house. No child shall play whilst mom is cleaning. That was the rule when I was growing up, and it is the rule now. No television if there is work to be done. Kids can do homework, or help mom- those are the two options. Only after everyone's work is done, do we play. Period. Full Stop. No exceptions.
I love these rules!!
I’m trying to get my 16-year-old to remember that rule-both kids were raised with chores and were expected to help out, but for some bizarre reason getting both of them to help once they hit 13 became an exercise in futility akin to herding cats!
Your clothes are very beautiful and feminine. Thank you.
aww thank you Alla!
