I am very VERY familiar with this location. I sort of work here on occasions, deliveries and what have you. The whole immediate area is slated for "closing" and is being sealed up/disused gradually. These particular buildings aren't all that old, dating from 1930-1940 for the most part. The old church at the location fell in, unfortunately. The one building, the original main hospital, is huge, isn't it? The forerunner to this hospital was a farm-type operation on the other end of the county. When they finally stopped using that facility, the State funded a community college on its campus (still going strong) so there's hope that when this campus is shuttered, the bldgs will live on. Great job!!!!
This place is in the top five on my bucket list of places to explore. I've tried twice with no luck. I've seen pics from the inside and it makes me want it that much more. Nice job!
I just checked that out. It’s a huge place and he didn’t seem to cover much of it. I have several videos filmed there. I believe I was the first to film it years ago. It looks pretty destroyed now. What a shame!
+Brian Sterowski I agree with Brian, it's lovely to watch your video's as you don't talk about the obvious things we can see or inane dribble, beautiful, keep up the good work :)
+Lainey Fabriccio Thank you Lainey! When I first started filming these places I was torn between being silent or talking through the explore. I still have people that comment saying that they don't like it that I don't talk, but for the most part people seem to be happy with what I put out. Glad you enjoyed it! :-)
Is that Central State near Petersburg VA? Parts of it are still open I think. I've been to the closed one in Weston WV twice. It's closed, only open for tours.
Clint Walker it is, they’re actually building a new facility within the next couple of years. The property is over 500 acres, and there are far more abandoned buildings than ones that are still active.
THis is a video of Eastview, an older building, unused, at Central State Hospital in Petersburg, VA. This campus is still in use, though this building, obviously, is not. It has not been demolished yet due to costs, and the fact that DBHDS is vastly underfunded by the Commonwealth. The agency can barely keep up the buildings with clients receiving services in them. Trespassing is one thing, but trying to get into a building (which, thankfully, this explorer didn't do) can expose persons to asbestos, mold, lead-based paint, loose masonry, to say nothing of the ghosts. Ghosts with mental problems, at that.
This one was super creepy! I have to ask, before you start recording, do you shout "anyone here?" or something like that? Or are we watching you find out if anyone's there?
Matt's Big Dream you're watching me find out lol!!! I usually hit record as soon as I get out of my vehicle just in case something interesting happens.
take down and rock smash all the red brick may reuse??? and concrete no one need reminder of there place like WW2 camps and Military base and bunker ,,with metals/re-bar and stuff......................plant rate trees and have wild animal farms instead..areas Ark!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love your relaxed style of filming, makes it enjoyable to watch
ian weinberg Thanks Ian! :)

That's one of the more overgrown asylums i've seen. They've got that one sealed tight. Very cool!
Ohh, this is the one that my buddy James The FAM went to recently...that overgrown outdoor corridor looks so cool 😎❤️‼️

+Brian Sterowski I am glad place's like these are closed down, their treatment of the patients was barbaric

What's the name of this particular asylum and great vid btw!
While in there did you get any vibes of the patients that hadn't moved on?
Where is this? It would make a great background for a film project.
I remember seeing this place and really wanted to explore. But my wife at that time was a buzz kill.
Always Loved exploring thses beauitful buidings
Is this St.Aben's Sanitorium in Radford?
The state wont let anyone in there. It is said to be very haunted from the things that happened there!
I see that the courtyard doors were left open, not easy to scale that tall gate to get in but people do.
where is this at? looks like theres a modern day factory next too it.

Thank you for the information. I disliked the video because it wasn't in his description.
Tell us about the history and who was sent here.
cant believe no ones ever thought of doing those buildings up and using them for emergency housing and for when people need to be relocated...
Rebecca Moody no chance of it because of the location. Thanks for watching!
