If I would’ve wrote a Stereo focused episode, I thought about the concepts of the two fight and it gets so intense that both heads declare they don’t want to be sharing the same body anymore. So Etno builds a machine to split the two apart into to superheterodyne bodies, the two heads at first glad that they don’t have to share the same body anymore, but as time goes on they start miss each other and want to share the same body again. I’m kinda sad they got rid of Stereo since they could’ve given him more interesting personality, yet the quit on him instead
I actually had a great idea they should have went for Stereo. They should have played yin and yang with them where one is a conscience to the group while the other encourages bad ideas.
Well. I want to make them be fascinated with earth literature. Studying planet Earth's language, biography, religion, nature, mathematics, geography and their phisics.
When I was younger, I only know this show because I was into Oggy and the Cockroaches and some of the staff worked on both shows too. I'm wondering why it didn't have a more cult following because the humour does remind me of a look of those 90's Nick cartoons. Also, you should look into Pet Alien. I swear, it's like this show mixed with Fairly Odd Parents where it's an alien group who live with a boy. But more cliched.
Fun Fact: According with Oliver Jean-Marie (Writer and Director) says in a interview. The art style coming from Jean Ives-Raimbaud (Creator) was actually inspired by Ren And Stimpy. Before that Raimbaud had a style more like from comics and after watch John K works. He decided to make a style more Cartoonist. - Season two was made without Raimbaud since he passed away in 1998 during the production of his next show "Oggy and The Cockroachers". - Even if the rest of the world put Candy as a female. In the french version is actually a Man. - It was going to be a CGI Movie based to the show in 2010. but it was cancelled for Budget issues. - The videogame "Stupid Invaders" (PC & Sega Dreamcast) is more vurgal than the actual show (More swearing, Sex jokes, Kinda gore, etc.)
When I saw this show on tv many years ago, I was almost convinced this had to be Bob Camp's work. (He was the co-director of many many R&S episodes, who had his own unique style that I felt this was more similar to than John's), but as we all can guess by now, I was very wrong and he had nothing to do with it. But now I can at least see why, if this tale of inspiration you speak of is true.
@@the-NightStarActually Camp did indeed work on some of the episodes of the 1st Season. Also he's the Co-Creator of Ren and Stimpy so he was pretty much the man in charge of the show after John K got ousted after Season 2.
6:30 Actually France IS in the West: specifically, it's part of Western Europe alongside the UK & Ireland, the Benelux(Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg), the Nordic countries, Germany, Swizterland, Austria, Italy, Malta, Spain, Portugal & Sam Marino to name a few. This is why Space Goofs is categorized as "Western Animation" on TVTropes(makes more sense than Australian & New Zealander cartoons being categorized as such even though they're just east of Southeast Asia). That said, I can see why you would say that since that is how most people in general tend to see France. I remember Dave & Joe of Game Sack making a video on Western developed games & they were questioning on including Superman 64 in it because its developer, Titus, is from France & people usually associate France & Italy with the East despite being part of Western Europe. I love this video, I just had to point this out.
It should be worth noting that many of the episodes in the first season were written by some of the Ren and Stimpy crew shortly after that series ended, such as Bob Camp and Jim Gomez.
I loved this show as a kid! It was titled "Home to Rent" back then in the Philippines, and I'm just glad I managed to find it again after all these years. I remember it being the show that inspired me to start drawing, and my very first fanart all the way back in kindergarten was of this very show!
It was also called Home To Rent in the UK, which is the one country I first knew of it having that title. Guess you got the UK distributor instead of Xilam themselves distributing it?
@@ExtremeWreck Actually, I think Space Goofs is the newer title, since even the behind-the-scenes documentary had production stuff titled "Home to Rent."

I also heard rumours of them getting a CGI movie once created by the same people who made Doogal (yes be very afraid) but somehow got scrapped entirely and who know what that movie could've been?
The biggest difference between the "seasons" is that season 2 is clearly made for the European market and the European market alone. The obvious example being Manga Mania, where, to defeat the house guest of the day, Manga Panda, the Goofs transform into Franco-Belgian comics characters. Smurfs, TinTin, Asterix, and most obscure to the US of all, Lucky Luke. With the additional gag that Manga Panda's fanbase is all teenage girls, but the Euro-comics disguised Goofs are hounded by middle aged men. Additionally, because Stereo wasn't in every episode, Jeff Glenn Bennet was replaced (I forget by whom), so Bud is the only recast character in the bunch. So basically, the first season was made with the US market in mind, and aired on Fox Kids. But being a Fox Kid's show that wasn't a Saban produced Tokusatsu series, it didn't have much sway (it had a Taco Bell promotion) and there were no takers for the second, Euro-centric series. Plus, I'd wager the series was more gag oriented second season because it was easier to translate to other European countries than something with tight dialogue.
Bud ended up being played by Lou Grainger, a pseudonym for Jim Gomez, revising his role as English translation. Gorgious and Stereo was played by Danny Mann
This show is SO weird. I half-remember it when it was first on TV; I can't make up my mind on whether I used to watch it or if I'm remembering a different show and just imprinting these characters onto that. It sounds like it MIGHT be, but at the same time, my brain isnt getting that "AHA!" moment that I usually get from being reminded of obscure shows from my youth. Excellent vid!
Stuff like that happens all the time in French animation really. The other Xilam show Oggy's got like 3 or 4 different incarnations over a really long time period, but is marketed as one continuous series despite the obvious animation/comedic changes. Corneil & Bernie got a "second season" one *decade* after the first. The main reason behind this is that French kids Channels rerun stuff a lot, like to an absurd degree. Space Goofs premiered in 1997, reruns ended in… 2016. Almost *20 years after* its premiere. Inspector Gadget was rerun for 25 years. Kids grow up, and the new kids just watch the old shows mixed with new shows.
In the Latín american dub, Candy was changed from a gay man to a woman, so when I played the game and most of the time the rest of the characters use she/her when talking about her, only to drop the bomb that she is actually trans, it blew my mind.
I remember the episode in S2 where the aliens discover the internet and they become obese & play video games all day One of the highlights of the series LMAO
I had nagging memories of this show from when I was a little kid, mostly on bumpers for Fox Kids, but I didn't remember what it was at all, particularly Gorgeous, I always remember a scene of him getting out of the tub and drying his butt with a towel with that butt-floss maneuver. I saw the thumbnail for this show and I recognized it almost instantly, mainly cause of Gorgeous, it was pretty cool to see what this show was that is probably one of my oldest memories, thanks a lot.
I remember watching this on Fox Kids when I was little. I thought it would end up a lost and forgotten show, like so many others. I'm glad to see it's remembered.
Curiously, my first exposure to Space Goofs was the point-n-click adventure game. There were actually quite a few point-n-clicks in the 90s based on animated TV series. Space Goofs, Ace Ventura, Beavis & Butt-Head, Scooby Doo Mystery (Genesis), Duckman, Pink Panther, etc.
I remember I was obsessed with this show back when it debut. I would record this show every Saturday and then watch that episode every day until the new one aired. Only got around 30 or so episodes, fox didnt air all of them sadly. Was extremely hyped when the PC game was announced, and after that I took that as the final episode because there was nothing from this show after. Didnt know there was a season 2 until a couple years ago. I watched some, but not all of them yet. To be honest I prefer season 1 more.
As an American, when I first saw this show on tv randomly one day, I was almost convinced that this show HAD to be created or at least directed or drawn by Bob Camp (of The Ren and Stimpy Show fame), due to the character and background art design of this show looking almost identical to Bob Camp's work. However, apparently I never caught the credits, as upon re-discovering this show later, I found that his name is nowhere in this series and he had absolutely nothing to do with it. Which is weird to me, because usually animator designs and art styles are like a fingerprint, and I could have sworn this didn't just look like Bob Camp's style but that it had to be him. I was wrong all this time, as it would seem.
I cant believe you reviewed two of about my favorite shows, Moral Orel and Space Goofs. Well, I used to be neutral to Space Goofs because my ex-friend Alex ruined that show for me because she was way too obsessed with Etno and got into alot of drama.
3:14 - Yeah. I also didn't know that Stereo even existed in the show and in the game but when i watched his voice acting done by Jeff Bennett with Jefphray Gercia impresion i imidletly loved that character and i might agree a little bit that he wasn't needed and that makes sense why he was killed-off in the second season but i like him nonetheless.
The fact that this is one of the few French cartoons to have Notable Voice actors like the aforementioned Jeff Bennet, Rob Paulson, and Maurice Lamarche
I recently discovered Space Goofs about 3 years ago and I'm kinda upset I didn't watch it when it was in the United States. I love this show a lot. I love Season 2 the most it's just better in terms of animation and overall design than season 1 and even some of the stories I find more fun than season 1. However, I still love season 1 for different reasons. I'm glad though that Space Goofs is finally getting some recognition it deserves cause it's a really fun and good show
I loved Jeff as his voice too, but I honestly only liked the petrie voice (if that’s how it’s spelt) I kinda hated the other voice and idk why, I feel like I would have liked it better if Jeff voiced one head and Danny voiced the other like he did in season 2
The only episode I remember from this show is when Edno (?) was in a country vs rock or heavy metal singing battle or something. It was funny to kid me.
maaan i love this show, i'm happy seeing people talk about it more thanks to the meme 👀 never watched it as a kid but discovered it a few years ago and fell in love, the wacky vibes and weird found-family camaraderie of the main characters are super fun to watch! bud and candy are my favorites, oddly both of them are the most relatable to me 😂 i can't help but feel bad for stereo, such a cool design that they had no idea what to do with :(
i wouldn’t say gorgious was *entirely* exempt, per se. i guess it depends on which episodes of season 1 you’re looking at, exactly, but in s1 he actually cared about his cohorts deep down sometimes, but in s2 it feels more like the writers just looked at smudged words on their hands and went “mean….. food…. yeah, good enough, sounds right.”
Nice to see someone talk about old Xilam shows! Hope we see more videos about them (specially one about Ratz, I used to watch that show all the time when I was little
Now that you mention this show, I realize that I totally forgot about it. I was born in the mid-90s, so I'm old enough to remember Fox Kids. I am very nostalgic for a lot of great kids shows like Power Rangers, Digimon, and even Medabots. But I did have vague memories of this show. I just couldn't remember what it was called. Thanks for discussing it, bruh.
I've heard of Space Goofs somewhere, but in its french name, and seen fanarts of it without knowing it was an actual show. Also, I thought it would be a low-budget Adult Swim-esque Ren and Stimpy judging by its animation.
Oh, I remember this cartoon and watched this cartoon on Gulli, but I don't like russian dubbish, because Stereo's russian voice is awful and I don't wanna watch in russian dub. In english his voice is nice. I recently reviewed season 1 and I will say that Stereo received very little attention in the cartoon. Even in the episode about his birthday, he was given attention for 2 minutes, and then only to the comedian whom his friends invited. In the episode about hell, one of the animators could see 4 figures with the main characters, but there was no Stereo itself. The problem is not in the character itself, but in the creators, who, instead of developing it or paying more attention, just took it and cut it out, threw it away like an unnecessary thing. I'm sorry that they did this to him, but he's my #1 favorite....And greetings to all Space Goofs fans from Bashkortostan
this show was part of a saturday morning block in germany. For years I could remember the intro, and the characters and their personality (and that stereo basicly had none) but sadly not what the show was called. So glad I'm at least able to rewatch it on englisch after all these years ^^;
Ya know, another show that did this kind of style-swap is _George of the Jungle (2007)._ When it came back from its 9-year hiatus (?!), it was a *completely* different show altogether. Inversely, _Blazing Dragons,_ despite having a radical redesign, continued to be witty and charming despite getting rid of a couple of characters. It even acknowledges… _some_ of the changes. It's pretty great.
Stereo's heads would actually argue a little bit in Season 1 episodes too, i don't remember which specific episodes as there's a lot in season 1 but it did happen. I kinda wish this was how he was characterized, as while i do personally like him and find him charming, he would've been way better if they combined the fact that he was a nerd and have his two heads compete for attention and argue about who's smarter.
::Looks at thumbnail. Remembers the single-season 1991 Space Cats cartoon:: ::Thinks about the single season 1996 Homeboys in Outer Space TV series & Space Cases:: Not gonna lie here... Etno looks like a cross between a plastic training toilet & a pitcher plant. Back then I would have thought this had unique designs, but post 90s, I can definitely see strong Spümcø & Eek the Cat influence.
Can I also mention that stupid fish meme from the game is MFing Charlie Adler AKA Starscream from Transformers and 1 billion other voices. Edit: Actually, this entire show was exploding with talent despite being mostly forgotten. For example, I listen to the theme song by Iggy Pop at least weekly.
Speaking of Ren and Stimpy, did Spümcø make this? I’ve never heard of this show until now. EDIT: Never mind, it turns out it was made by two different animation studios. Gaumont Multimedia (season 1) Xilam Animation (season 2)
Various contributors from Ren and Stimpy did work on this series. Jim Gomez and I want to say Bob Camp at least. I forget who else and how many of them were involved.
@@CJBStudios Same basic writing style to the Games Animation episodes, too. But I think these are leagues better. I think the American writing staff had more sway in the first season. I want to say they're still present in the European season 2, but I have to rewatch them first. Really is a shame that both Space Goofs and Oggy never really caught on over here.
@@mightyfilm I have heard of Oggy but never watched it. The only show I did watch from Xilam was Zig and Sharko, which I think also took inspiration from Ren & Stimpy.

@@jaggerguth4391 Don't forget Charlie Adler.
Etno looks more like a Klasky-Csupo character during season 1, especially in the episodes animated earlier in production.
I'm glad though that Space Goofs is finally getting some recognition it deserves cause it's a really fun and good show
Especially the use of smears during its second season.
I think Oggy and the Cockroaches helped the studio improved its animation quailty.
La La La La We Like Monster Men
(NOW THE LITTLE KIDS SING!)
This show is super underatted
Remember Oggy and the cockroaches? Contained weird stuff like the inflation/pregnancy episode. It's pretty unique in my eyes.
Space goofs: I remember watching it as a kid
Grounded with occasional absurdism vs. absurd situations being the norm is also how I'd describe the change from S1 to the rest of Community.
Sad, My favorite was Stereo, loved Jeff Bennett voicing him.
I loved Jeff as his voice too, but I honestly only liked the petrie voice (if that’s how it’s spelt) I kinda hated the other voice and idk why, I feel like I would have liked it better if Jeff voiced one head and Danny voiced the other like he did in season 2
Angry Birds Toons helped me discover this underrated gem. 😁
same!! but in my case it was ratz (another xilam cartoon)
So glad people are remembering space goofs
I love how you mention that it's all on RUclips Officially but the editor still uses Nicktoons TV Rips
The only episode I remember from this show is when Edno (?) was in a country vs rock or heavy metal singing battle or something. It was funny to kid me.
@Darthi Surprised anyone even remembers that much. Thanks.
Thanks; thought I'd hallucinated watching this series as a kid.
Yes a new video! I love space goofs and yes this is the show that turned into a video game with that fish that sings meme
maaan i love this show, i'm happy seeing people talk about it more thanks to the meme 👀 never watched it as a kid but discovered it a few years ago and fell in love, the wacky vibes and weird found-family camaraderie of the main characters are super fun to watch! bud and candy are my favorites, oddly both of them are the most relatable to me 😂
i can't help but feel bad for stereo, such a cool design that they had no idea what to do with :(
i wouldn’t say gorgious was *entirely* exempt, per se. i guess it depends on which episodes of season 1 you’re looking at, exactly, but in s1 he actually cared about his cohorts deep down sometimes, but in s2 it feels more like the writers just looked at smudged words on their hands and went “mean….. food…. yeah, good enough, sounds right.”
Nice to see someone talk about old Xilam shows!
Hope we see more videos about them (specially one about Ratz, I used to watch that show all the time when I was little
It weird to see Xilam to have Rob Paulson and Jeff Bennet voicing characters.
@@jaggerguth4391 Sounds weird but fun. Gonna have to check it out, since I watched them with the latin american dub since I'm from Mexico
They had the big one, Tom Kenny, voicing in one cartoon. Which was a blue alien.
Wow that’s a show that was in the back recesses of my brain! Forgot everything about that until I saw the thumbnail!
Thanks for discussing it, bruh.
i have been trying to remember the name of this show for almost a decade.. thanks for bringing it up
I've heard of Space Goofs somewhere, but in its french name, and seen fanarts of it without knowing it was an actual show. Also, I thought it would be a low-budget Adult Swim-esque Ren and Stimpy judging by its animation.
Funny enough, some of those Ren and Stimpy people, Jim Gomez, Bob Camp and Bob Jaques, were behind this show.
Fun fact: Bob camp was working in that french series as a writer (I think) and also a doing some dialog editing
Yep, he wrote most of the episodes in season 1
*memory unlocked*
I Remeber Seeing This on Fox Kids Back in Day in the Late 90's
2:54 Gorgious is Gorgeous AF
Okay... 😐
@@lauluis1mii124 Ok..? LOL
*THERE WAS A RUSSIAN DUB?*
@@colesellers8384 Yes , and it has 2 options : poor - quality voice acting and full dubbing
It's pretty sad that the official English RUclips channel has been dead since December 2018.
this show was part of a saturday morning block in germany. For years I could remember the intro, and the characters and their personality (and that stereo basicly had none) but sadly not what the show was called. So glad I'm at least able to rewatch it on englisch after all these years ^^;
There's also the Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat.
The same thing happen in that show as well
And also only have two seasons.
Space Goofs, I can watch all episodes in RUclips.
I remember watching this show, but not its name or any of its characters. I immediately recognized it when I saw the thumbnail.
Sup, I really like Space Goofs
I did not expect a space goofs video
Stereo's heads would actually argue a little bit in Season 1 episodes too, i don't remember which specific episodes as there's a lot in season 1 but it did happen.
I kinda wish this was how he was characterized, as while i do personally like him and find him charming, he would've been way better if they combined the fact that he was a nerd and have his two heads compete for attention and argue about who's smarter.
Etno is my favorite, especially in season 2 on top of getting a really great re design and others in the show 🥰🥰🥰
This show is awesome
One of all-time favorite cartoons!
::Looks at thumbnail. Remembers the single-season 1991 Space Cats cartoon::
::Thinks about the single season 1996 Homeboys in Outer Space TV series & Space Cases::
Not gonna lie here... Etno looks like a cross between a plastic training toilet & a pitcher plant.
Back then I would have thought this had unique designs, but post 90s, I can definitely see strong Spümcø & Eek the Cat influence.
I honestly didn't remember it until this video and this from a guy who fondly remembers mutant league.
i tried to forget this show existed.
I remember watching it on Jetix.
I heard about Space Goofs when Anton Dalek used the transformation song for Gorgeous Freeman.
In the UK, Series 1 was called Home To Rent and Series 2 was called Space Goofs.
I used to watch this on the Angry Birds app.
smh put some respect of toons tvs name!!
your gonna review oggy and the cockroaches and your gonna like it
Speaking of Ren and Stimpy, did Spümcø make this? I’ve never heard of this show until now.
EDIT: Never mind, it turns out it was made by two different animation studios.
Gaumont Multimedia (season 1)
Xilam Animation (season 2)
Various contributors from Ren and Stimpy did work on this series. Jim Gomez and I want to say Bob Camp at least. I forget who else and how many of them were involved.
@@mightyfilm Ah, I see. I guess that explains why the art style looks a little similar.
@@CJBStudios I am curious what's your opinions on zig and sharko
Are you ever going to review the game?
I love that show.
So do I!
And also why they removed the two red headed ailen in season 2
:,)
The Strangest thing is that this is one very few Canadian shows that have a full on American cast. We are talking about Rob Paulson, and Maurice Lamarche.
This is actually a French-American series, lol. The wikis mistaken it as an Canadian series.
@@kootunesscrewy My bad but its still one of the few international French cartoon to have American Cast. Rob, Maurice, and Jeff are here compare to other French-Candia with Matt Hill, Sam Vincent, and Katherine Barr
i would of had stereo heads arguing and threating to beat each other asses. Or maybe they argue whos prettier or what to eat or do. maybe each head likes the opposite thing
Lmao them threatening each other
“I’m gonna beat your ass!”
“ *WE HAVE THE SAME ASS* “
I would love to see you review Endangered Species (Nerd Corps)
I wish people know this show more
My fav characther is bud
I like Gorgeous he's the one who made me laugh the most
I remember Space Goofs, but I don't remember much about it. I have much more fond memories of Walter Melon.
I forgot this show
I think I locked it away in my this is too much like my inner self
I seen the Spanish dub for this show on locomotion (latin America.....rip to the USA Version from the back in the Day)
And the theme slaps it's done by Iggy pop
I loved that show, but i don't know mabey I'm wrong , it seems that only season 2 made it to Latinoamérica i dont recall any of the season 1 shots of the video
Hope you talk about Oggy and the cockroches someday (since they're from the same creators and company)
I think reviewing a dialogue-free cartoon is very impossible to do.
@@kootunesscrewy He talked about the roadrunner and coyote cartoons and Tom and Jerry before so....what exactly do you mean by that?
I’d love to see someone else talk about this show. Me and my friend are talking about making a retrospective and review of Oggy and the Cockroaches.
