If anyone is interested, she’s performing Japanese Shotokan karate kata ”Kanku Dai” 観空大 along with ’bunkai’ (practical applications) from several traditional kata, like ”Heian Sandan” 平安三段. 👍 So cool they feature ACTUAL karate and not some made-up stuff! 🥋

I’m Polish and a huge fighting game enthusiast since very young. After so many years of playing characters from all over the world, now to see the first Polish fighting game character brings me close to tears. Especially that she’s so frigging cool!! Naprzód, Lidia, skop im tyłki!!

I really like how her fightinhg style is more "stiff" than most other fighters, it really makes her look like she does every move by the book perfectly, with little improvisation.
Shokudai karate is all about staying stable and returning to reliable poses quickly. They really nailed the feeling of this style of karate

Love how the trailer shows us what Lidia is capable of, and just the fact even as serious as she is as the Prime Minister of Poland that she also can be pretty dedicated to her craft of Karate, as shown with her going "Osu!" while on that conversation at the end there.

Lidia is unique enough to not be compared to those other karate characters. there's a lot more differences between them than SF's Ryu and VF's Akira. plus Makoto and Hitomi are kids compared to Lidia.

1. She practices realistic shotokan karate (which is something I also used to practice and I can confirm it's quite faithfully adapted)
2. She is the first Central European character (I'm Hungarian so I appreciate that)
3. She reflects not just the moves of shotokan karate, but also its ideology of honor, respect, determination and initiation.
4. She is adorable AF but not in an annoying way (*AHEM Lucky Chloe, new Julia AHEM*)

Well Hitomi in the canon of the DOA series is a practitioner of Shotokan Karate. With her official fighting style being Shotokan Karate with some Mugen-Tenshin Ninjitsu she learned from Hayate during the events of 2, and the time-gap between 2 and 3, and the time-gap between 3 and 4.

I think there's some cultural inside stuff going on here. "Osu" in Japan is a very masculine expression that women would not normally use. So Lidia saying "Oss" tells a lot about her character to a Japanese person - that she's a strong, brawny girl who dares to stand up to the guys (besides being culturally illiterate too).

She actually looks like someone who dedicated her life to Martial Arts (Karate). We would appreciate it if you would bring back Jins Kata Win Pose. It would illustrate a certain connection between Jin and Lydia. Or a special intro for Jin and Lydia. And as we can see you want to include her into the plot and maybe Lidia is some sort of teacher or karate class mate of Jin from Australia. The stage would also fit into australia since most cities are located at the coast and maybe Lydia used to study in Australia since many students from abroad do move there to study.
Lidia and Jin do two different forms of karate, though. Lidia's is shotokan and Jin's is kyoukishin.

She uses Shotokan Karate. So seeing her face off against Jin was cool as it was a mistress of Shotokan Karate vs. a master of Kyoushkin Karate that was really awesome to see the two different styles of Karate face off against each other.
@@derrickhaggard I believe she uses more than shotokan karate. She has a few motions that are also reminiscent of Baji, goju-ryu, and Kyokushinkai. Personally, I get the impression the devs researched multiple karate systems and incorporated different attributes of them into her move set.
Dragunov, Miguel, and Bryan teaming up against Lidia is the funniest thing I've seen 🤣
Now that I played as her, I can confirm that she looked badass, she moves like a badass, and I feel like a badass doing her combos... even though I'm not that good at it, lol
But she's an all rounded badass, and I love it.

There's nothing more terrifying for a main character than a character reveal, where your ass just gets beat just to introduce a character
That was exactly my case when I saw this trailer. Miguel was my main and, after watching her punching him and the others making it looks that easy, the first thing I thought was "SHE BEAT UP MY MAIN, NOW SHE NEES TO BE MY NEW MAIN"
It was like the "who beats the king will become the new king" stuff

This actually might be the trailer with the best showing of a character's fighting skills (I'm talking martial arts, not gameplay). The entire sequence of her fending off Bryan, Miguel and Dragunov was absolutely sick. For the record, I also love what they did with Fakhumram's moveset earlier.
