    In this video, I review and compare the Wurkkos TD01C with the TD01. Wurrkos has added a buck driver, which greatly improves output after step down.

    Wurkkos TD01C - Better than the TD01?
    General thoughts after a week of usage/size comparison/practicality/interesting things:
    • So the TD01C the superior to the TD01, and I'll share with you why in this video. It wasn't long ago that I reviewed the Wurkkos TD01 and one of the issues brought up by a few people was the lack of regulation. However, Wurkkos has a great reputation for taking on feedback from the flashlight community and has come up with its answer in the TD01C. Wurkkos provided me a sample of the TD01C for the purposes of this review.
    • Comparison with the TD01 - no cosmetic differences, besides the addition of a buck driver.
    • You get everything you need in the box - a 21700 battery, charging cable, and lanyard.
    Overall Construction, LED, lens, bezel and reflector
    • Feels very solid and good quality machining, especially for this price point. I'm used to that slippery/shiny finish that you see with most Wurkkos lights, but here, they've opted for a matt black, chalky finish. It feels a lot grippier and I feel confident holding the light without a lanyard. Some versions of the previous TD01 had a glossier finish. The machining on the battery tube is deep and adds significant grip too. The balancing point is just below the button - this makes the light balanced when holding in tactical or normal orientation.
    • The tailswitch sticks out slightly, unable to tailstand. Large, single button made of rubber. The side switch is made of aluminum and also functions as a battery indicator.
    • Bezel is 58mm in diameter. Mine is glued down. It's good to see Wurkkos include a protective glass lens in front of the TIR lens. I have some other higher-priced flashlights that leave this out. SFT40 - perfect for a host of this size, however, I could see someone swapping in an Osram W2 for extra range. Would be cool to see an SBT90.2 or HP70.3HI version of this light.
    UI - modes
    • Two Uis. Press and hold the side switch for 3 seconds to switch between tactical and lighting modes.
    • Shortcut to moonlight - press and hold the side switch while activating the tail switch. This is a proper ML mode - an additional mode that the original TD01 did not have.
    • Triple click for strobe, double click for beacon, SOS.
    Performance - total output, beam profile, longevity, practicality
    • CCT, CRI, Ceiling bounce test
    • Intense hotspot with generous spill at the higher modes. There's not much still on the lower modes with any TIR lens flashlight.
    Considerations
    • Not pocketable - but that's what you get if you want extra throw.
    • There is a slight delay in activating momentary mode - this is definitely a mechanical and not an e-switch, but it appears that the activation point of the switch is further down. It's not very noticeable - maybe a 1-200ms delay. Can be tricky to activate strobe.
    Verdict
    • The tactical features along with the 1KM throw is something you don't see in many budget flashlights. I was a fan of the first one but the addition of a buck driver extends the brightness of this light significantly after stepdown which is a crucial feature in a long-range flashlight for maximum visibility.

    Love your reviews. I said it before but it's great to see the different flashlights perform in the same area from the same spot from video to video. Also you push the runtimes with visuals and not just graphs. The effort you put in is evident and appreciated. You're at the top of the list. Hope your channel grows so you can have oodles to review lol and mostly hope you enjoy it and it's worth it. ✌️

      Thanks heaps mate. I put a lot of work into these videos and I'm always trying to improve them so if you have any suggestions I'm always keen to hear. There's lots of competition on RUclips with these videos but less with flashlights, though I want to branch out to other tech as well. I appreciate your support.

      @@DarrenYeoYT well since you asked. Your videos end rather abruptly. A final thoughts piece would be great. Even though you may cover everything throughout the review, I think it would help you to structure it more that way. Perhaps you could add structure without increasing your work load...maybe hold back a nugget(s) of information for final thoughts. Just my two cents...you do great work as is...those endings are just a little abrupt..even if it's not final thoughts, maybe a fade and logo or something. Again the effort and execution are appreciated. ✌️

    Thank you for this review. Just ordered TD01C.
    TD01 is my favourite looking light and I would love to see Wurkkos offering it in silver color. Now when Convoy L21A is no more available in silver.
    Shorter and not so smushy tailswitch would also be nice.
    Waiting for the first CULPM1 in TD01C.

    How does it compare to sofirn sf26?

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  5 месяцев назад +2

      I don't have the SF26 but it looks like the new driver in this TD01 performs better (steps down to higher point) and sustained output on high. The SF26 has some cool features like the dual tail switch and unscrewable bezel to access the charging port. They both throw around the same distance. For now, I'd get the TD01 due to better performance unless Sofirn upgrade their driver.

  • @Andrew_Thrift

    Im praying they upgrade the driver in the TS30S Pro

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  4 месяца назад +1

      Every $$ counts with companies that operate in that price range. They did it with the TD01C though for a slightly increased price. For higher output lights, probably costs a lot more.
