Hey, I’m a new subscriber. I found your channel searching for test tones relating to DB level. I like what you’re doing, I like the talks about gear, and setups. As a person who’s teaching myself, it really helps to hear guys with experience just talk about it. Keep sharing, and thank you.
Join me with the 12 12's 🤣 in the jeep. I got that 4th order with the 12 sundown U 12's and I peak at 29hz and it does a 163 on the glass at 28-29hz. It's not 20hz and below but it'll still rip your hat off lol.
Up to you man. Only way to find out is to try it out. I have built a 6th order box for 15 inch massive audio hippo xlr and that thing got stupid windy. Was basically a blower. I am yet to try out 4th order but my plan is to get 2 deaf bonce 3012r in a 120~ litre enclosure and tune it with a peak of 30hz and play up to 70-80hz. It does seem like there is more tuning opportunities with a 4th order plus smaller build and potentially louder. But definitely won't play low or low low. I think 30hz is where 4ths shine. I like your videos. I'm a recent viewer in Australia! Very nice build you have there.
You really don't want moisture in the system though as I've been told it can turn into an acidic environment... cheaper to just pull a vacuum to remove moisture vs roll the dice and it crap out on ya 2-3yrs down the road. I generally change all the orings when I work on them.. o rings are cheap.. I'd rather only have to do the job once. I diy all my own..but I've got experience (jack of all trades). Now, this new crap.. the 1234ysomething something.. more expensive, and more fittings to buy to adapt.. blahhhh.. Oh, and fyi... it's refrigerant... lol 😆 It's like saying I drive a "ford" when I drive chevy.. freon is a brand name. Refrigerant covers all.. 😉
My recommendation is to keep the 6th and switch the subs to the DB drive subs. From what I've gathered, you prefer the lows below 20hz a lot. I wouldnt sacrifice that but I would say larger subs and row the amps stacked in the back to add 2 more amps. 6 DS18 hooligan KO 8ks on 6 DB drive subs would be stupid nasty, the amp rack would be a hell of a tight fit but I can see how to make it work if you'd like my idea on that let me know
@@JerryAintloud indeed so, keep the enclosure, you just built it and it's dialed in. Now is the time to improve motor force and power capabilities. 6 amps running @ 1ohm each on an 8k hooligan, amps wouldn't need fans anymore, better efficiency and more motor force on subwoofers with a better TS parameters for the particular application you're wanting. The Gynesis G2s are badass subs don't get me wrong but the TS parameters on that DB would get you knocking the doors off the vehicle next to you with 6 of them damn DB drives in there!
You read my mind. I was just kicking around the idea of doing a 4th order or 6th order a while ago. Never tried my hand at either but the 6th definitely calls out to me more but the 4th order seems like a "safer" build as far as getting the tuning properly without much tweaking. My extended cab Canyon will have to be a 4th order or, more likely, just a ported box because of the size but I have a 2000 Explorer that just sort of sits outside. I crank it and take it out from time to time and seems like a great victim for a build
Just in case anyone is wondering my name is Dion Bowman... AKA Black Boxx Customz. Loudest sundown audio 6th order out there and possibly one of the most efficient fourth order walls out there that's not burp boxes. We did 175 on 8 zv6 15's on 40k. Until someone beats my personal 618 4th order or that 8:15 excursion... These two sundown representations of a fourth order and a sixth order are two of the best out there lb for lb.
@@dblovah5156 I don't particularly care for flat walls because of how limited bandwidth tends to be. I much prefer a bandpass enclosure with a loading wall. I do flat walls as well though.
I'm not sure of bandwidth, but 4th packs more of a punch due to sealed enclosures. My bandwidth is from the 20's to into 40's-50's.. perfect for my music. The 6th I made was windier, but not as much oomph in the punch dept, like the 4th. The 4th is still nasty though. I didn't build to a design, just my own.. (I'd rebuild if needed.. but don't need to I feel)
Coming from a 6th order with 4 bdc4 12"s (built two separate ported boxes, then kinda threw em together to blow through my cab- from the low 20's to the 40's.. it was windy with 6k. Same amps, different ohm load to get me 4k for 4 15"s (Rockville K6V2's ) in a 4th order (yet again something I threw together.. I'm old school) . This hits from the 20's (not as violent as the 12"s 6th vs 4th), but high 20s into the high 30's pounds hard.. the 6th orders get a whoosh per say without building pressure like the 4th orders.. they don't get a whoosh...they get a beat down. My passenger door handle (while it's there..won't be soon), looks like it's gonna open itself. Nasty enough on 4k (amps are 2 Rockville dbcomp4's strapped at 4ohms- amps are rated 2krms at 2ohms -3k at 1ohm)
I have 4th order and its windy But I only have limited room is only reason. I've never had a 6th order. But I know they windy if done right. I got a demo from you a few yrs ago. And it was windy! But Drew will definitely know what to do 👍😎💯💨💨💨
Sundown tooled platform drivers are the absolute best 4th order subs out there. My 6-18's 4th does 162's on 8700 watts clamped. 57's @ 22hz. I wonder how much louder it's going to get when I get more power to fight this 6x rise lol. If you use Genesis G2 subs in a fourth it's going to start falling off hard around 25 Hertz. That's just the nature of the fourth order beast. I know for a fact you aren't going to swap subs or you might want to rethink a fourth. This coming from a builder and designer who's absolutely pro 4th order
Pulling a vacuum on your A/C system is to get all of the moisture out of the system. So it's definitely worth having it done. You should leave it in vacuum for at least 20 minutes to make sure all moisture is out of the system. Please do so. 👍I love watching your videos. Keep up the good work.
