      I wanna try my first box for my dd9518 sc.. but I don't wanna waist wood😬

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 Год назад +2

      @@matthewguynn4920 You need to map out the design and how your gonna cut each panel. If it's a rectangular box, try to cut 4 panels the same length and then the two end panels can be custom sized to match. I'd also recommend an Aero port so that you can adjust the tuning frequency. Glue it up solid and add cross bracing. The main thing is draw it all out beforehand, make sure the finished box can fit in the vehicle, calculate the gross and net air space. Once the design is right, map out your cuts to use the least amount of wood.

    • @matthewguynn4920
      @matthewguynn4920 Год назад +1

      @@JasonWW2000 yeah I'm actually a carpenter, so the cuts don't worry me too bad.. it's calculating box volume and port area. I had Mbe build my last box for 2 tens. Turned out pretty loud. It's 4 cu. I basically could follow that layout but at or about 6 cu.

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 Год назад +1

      @@matthewguynn4920 If you want a net 6 cu ft, start with that. Driver displacement on that one is pretty high, add 0.5 cu ft. For port area it depends on the type of port. For slot port 14 to 16 sq inch per cu ft. So for 6 cu ft net, port area of around 84 to 96 sq in. With an aero port you can go smaller like 8 to 10 sq in per cube. So thats 48 to 60 sq in. An 8" port is 50 sq in, so that would be an good choice. You can use a box calculator to roughly find the length for whatever frequency you want. If you go slot port your box will be a lot larger. Aero port keeps the box smaller. An 8" x 20" long aero port displaces around 0.6 cu ft. So now your gross internal volume is 7.1. You'll have some bracing. I'd say make the box with 7.5 cu ft gross. After all those displacements you'll be around 6 cu ft net. Or shoot for gross volume of 7 cu ft and the net should be 5.5-5.7 or so. That's right around the recommended size.
      With slot port the gross box volume will be closer to 8.5 - 9 cu ft. It gets big.

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 Год назад

      @@matthewguynn4920 Figure out the orientation of the box, where the driver will face and where the port will face. Make sure they have enough depth. The magnets needs a couple inches to breath. An 8" port needs 6 to 8" around the inner flare. So you might need to add a 90° to get it to fit. It depends on the tune you want which makes the length vary.

    Thank you for all the help with your videos! I’ve always been a bass head, but I just recently started going bigger and bigger. Currently building a blow through in my 1991 C1500. I’m going with 4 15’s in the bed. Also building my door panels, it’ll be my first full custom build I’m doing by myself, I have a friend helping me plan tho he has a suburban with 6 sundown 18’s in a 6th order, his will beat you down on full tilt lol He’s the reason I wanna go bigger, I just recently met him about a year ago and one demo I was hooked lol Anyways just wanted too show some love, hope you have a great Easter boss!

    I had a flat wall back in the 90’s. Had four Impulse 15’s with two Sedona Sound APA500’s, in the bed of a Mazda truck. Did good for back then, best it ever did was 151. Stock alternator and one stock battery. Basically because that’s all I knew how to do it. The late 90’s things stated getting far beyond what I knew. Would love to build another one soon, just need the lotto to hit so I can. 😂😂😂

    I went to my first audio show last year and demo'd 6 trucks in a row. All of them were 4 to 6 15s or 18s, all of them were doing mid 150s and dug into the mid 20s and up. ONE truck was a 4th order, and when I heard that thing, I decided that THAT'S the experience I wanted. The 4th compared to all the other 6ths had more pressure in the cab and I felt it in my body more than my ears like the other trucks. Dunno if it was just those setups, but it makes me wonder. I have a single cab 09 Ranger, so my only option is a blow through of some kind, and I don't want to get a capper and blow through the rear window, either.
    Biggest sub I can fit under the tonneau cover is gonna be a 12, dimensionally speaking, as I only have about 16.5" to work with vertically and plan on 1" thick walls. I also don't want to use more than 1/3 to 1/2 of my bed cuz I still gotta haul shit. So, dimensionally I have 16" tall by 40" wide by 24" to 36" depth to work with, and the physical output HAS to be a port that stubs THROUGH the wall, not just a hole, because I won't be able to seal the box face adequately against the bulkhead.
    I want to hit mid 140s at least and dig down to the high 20hz range, and don't want to spend more than $1000 total on subs, whether it's one sub or four. What do you recommend for box type and subs?

    • @GTILOUD
      @GTILOUD 8 месяцев назад

      The pressure or feeling in the body you're talking about comes from the sealed side of the fourth you could do the same with a lot of cone area and a sealed build

    EBP
    This measurement is calculated by dividing Fs by Qes. The EBP figure is used in many enclosure design formulas to determine if a speaker is more suitable for a closed or vented design. An EBP close to 100 usually indicates a speaker that is best suited for a vented enclosure. On the contrary, an EBP closer to 50 usually indicates a speaker best suited for a closed box design. This is merely a starting point. Many well-designed systems have violated this rule of thumb! Qts should also be considered.

      The bigger the ratio the better in my experience, you get stronger lows and better overall sound. I’ve seen 4th orders tuned to 50hz with very long ported chambers and they played down to 16hz because the length acted as a long port

    Just because you want to reduce calories doesn't mean you need to give up coffee or soda. If anything, the coffee/caffeine will give you energy to move your body more and you'll burn more calories. You can make your own coffee and use artificial sweetener like sucralose. That's great. Or you can take a caffeine pill. They are cheap and usually 200mg which is about the same as a cup of coffee. You can also drink sugar free soda. The Zero Sugar sodas are great. They taste way better than the old diet sodas of s few years ago.
