I'm surprised there aren't more views, likes and comments. This is one of the best videos I've seen on Grease Pencil in 2.8+. It really does a terrific job of providing an overview of the interface and how to work with it in a realistic fashion. Excellent job. Thanks a ton for the video!
This was extremely informative and exactly what I needed to setup Grease Pencil for drawing, inking, layers etc. The drawing part, yeah well working on that. Thanks.
I really want to thank you for this tutorial and the earlier one. I have found GP to be the biggest creative excitement I've had in a long, long time, but it can be frustrating that there's so little good workflow information out there. You cram a hella lot of great information into this tutorial, and I genuinely appreciate it.
Aw cheers dude! I really try and demystify stuff from a workflow perspective because of this precise reason: there is technical info, but no real "here's some best practices" stuff. I try to balance it between what works for me and what *may* work for someone else, and the methods are constantly evolving. So I really appreciate this comment.
Someone asked me Bout doing turnarounds in blender. I will be sending them here. Very clean and clear . Love it
i greatly appreciate you and your GP video tutorial since I am a newbie in animation and had just installed Blender and you are really a great help. Thank you very much!!!
Great Job! simple and right at the point! Thanks!
Great tutorial man!!
Superb, multiply grease pencil content bro 👍😎
Great content.
thank you for valuable tutorial
Thats great thanks
Thank you Sir
thanks alot!
Out of curiosity Paul..... @ 14:05 did you create additional “collection folders + additional BlueLine layers” to do the front-side-back view of the character ?? (I can see before the 14 min mark you only had 2 collection folders and then suddenly “””” you’ve got a few more) ....
I’m a newbie with the program :-) just trying to understand what you did...
Thanks.
Thank you for this! I wondered why you choose to modify the default layout rather than using the 2D animation option from the outset.
This is a character turnaround sheet. It does not require animation tools? It is also simpler to familiarize beginners with the interface this way, rather than overwhelm people with information about all the various layouts available - especially if they're not going to be animating, or working predominantly in 3D. I try to focus on techniques and methods which stick to basics. I did check out the "make new 2D animation preset, however - it is pretty cool!
@@PCaggegi Thanks Paul I understand now
❤❤😊 thank you so much
When I set up the wold properties as you have done then I made blue line and when I draw my blue Line Its really dark blue
Love it :) Im currently transitioning into Blender with 2D animations :) PS: Its just me or did you forget the to paint the hair? :P Anyway :) Good handy tutorial for beginners :)
Nah that's just his design. He's a Ranga. Or like, really blonde 🤣
Thank you. But how do you make the turnaround? Do you put an image on each frame? In Adobe Animate you make a symbol.
i think u might have to redraw it because 2d isn’t 3d but for all ik u might be wanting the hot key to rotate if that’s the case then press r in edit mode with the selected parts
Thank you, we want a 2D character control method, please 😊
You're welcome. Rigging and animating are not my area of expertise, sorry. :)
Well I wish you success 👏 Thank you again
Thanks for the tutorial :) For some reason my mirror modifier isn't working though even though I set the layer to blue line. It's still only drawing where I draw and not on the other side. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks :)
Hmmm. Check your pivot point. Also check your mirror modifier - is it viewable in draw mode?
@@PCaggegi For some reason I had to switch the modifier settings to y when I thought it would be x but it's working now. Thank you:)
I am coming over from Flash. The workspace seems to be pretty transitory. Everytime I draw something and go from draw to edit, I lose the time line. I open a new timeline, but the layers do not show. Little help? Thanks
So the question is why don't you just draw in 2D animation mode ? Is there some problem if I draw directly in 2d animation mode?
The colour of the "pencil" is grey for me in the material preview mode even when I have assigned the blue material to it. How can I fix it? I'm using blender 2.91
Gonna hazard a guess here... are you using Vertex paint? If so, check that the tool is set to "stroke and fill". This is above the panel with the swatches
Which tablet do you use?
I have a Wacom Intuos. Medium I think? Wish I could afford a Cintiq!
Has anybody used grease pencil to draw up a sprite sheet for use in something like unity?
