    There's definitely the "race series/type" collectors. I myself collect mainly Endurance and JGTC/Super GT model cars.

      Exactly I'm someone who is more specified in this category as well, I'm a motorsport Porsche collector. I like Porsches that actually raced in the past and especially the ones that achieved good results like winners of 24h of Le Mans.

    I think I'm close to the 1st type, but without the FOMO. I collect all makes, models and scales but only of cars I find interesting (which is a lot of different cars 😅). I don't feel the need to have everything though, if I find it in store I'll get it but I rarely order online (way too easy to go overboard) & same goes for pre-orders. I know what I like but I also appreciate what I already have in my collection.

    I have been a Tarmac works collector for almost a year now. I'm glad I got into the hobby because I like cars and it brings me joy. I choose Tarmac works for the quality (not the best but really good for the money) and the variety of make because I like European, American and Japanese cars and happily they tick all those boxes. At first I bought some older models because some of the fomo hit me but now I've calmed down and pick from their new releases.

    I'm a Ferrari only collector in 1/18 and opening parts. Not interested in sealed resin at all. It must open. I have Bburagos, Hot Wheels Elite, Kyosho, BBR, CMC and Exoto

      I avoid metal diecast (zinc) because the (Chinese) quality control is lacking with the metal. I have too many of these models that have developed what some call zinc-pest. It can ruin the paint, and even the model. This is why some manufacturers have gone to resin, and these models should last a very long time.

    Theres also the "Investment Collector" they collect whats valuable or what will acumulate value over time. Its not for persna, nostalgia, or brand loyalty.
    They still are collectors Technically i guess.

      I’m a 2 and 4 and also what you mentioned collector hahahah. People tell me all the time you should just enjoy it it’s just a hobby lol. Same people who will complain why my models is $1000 USD plus lol when it’s just a model. I rather buy something expensive and quality that will accumulate value as if I do sell it I will never lose money🤣

    I'm a soft version of the first collector. I love 1:64 and 1:18 and my taste in automobiles is VAST.
    But, I don't need to have "anything and everything."
    I'm also sort of a brand collector at heart. If MakeUp made everything I love, I'd likely buy from just them.
    If I'm buying a 1:18 jdm, if it's not MakeUp, it's IG.

    I’m more of a collector who collects based on themes and scales. For example, in 1/18 scale I’m focusing only on JDMs while in 1/24 scale I kinda collect all the Sports, Super and Hypercars.

    I consider myself a Brand + Model + Ease of access type person. For example, I love Nissan Skyline R34. if Inno64 has produced detailed scale 1/64 Nissan Skyline GTR R34 at affordable price, easy to get. non-chase everywhere. Then I'll only collect full range of R34s in Inno64 like a perfectionist.

  • @90sRacingCars
    @90sRacingCars 2 месяца назад

    I'd consider myself a budget minded 1/18 "Nostalgia" collector. Mostly cars that have had some sort of liking/impact to me growing up through the 90's (most, but not limited to): Exotics/Supercars, some obscure common and attainable production models, and race models (FIA GT Endurance, Trans Am, CART, F1, etc). Nostalgia goggles on, it seemed like such an amazing decade for cars and racing. I do try to stick to a list of models that are a priority first, this way things don't get out of hand and the shelves don't have too much filler.

    I would add a valetudinarian type, when you set a plan what you collect and after few months you change your mind, sell everything and go other direction. Later on you do the same again. And again. And, well, you know what I mean :D.

    I started as #1, then a broke #3 (see my first point), and now I'm a #2. It's a bell curve for sure when you start out, and I went bananas spending money on FOMO. It's really hard I think when you start out not to have some level of FOMO, or even just wanting to feel like a completionist, which as I found out, is nearly impossible unless you're willing to spend serious, and I mean SERIOUS, money.

    i have this tendency to collect rolling pieces but there is an exception when I bought the Ferrari gt3/gte pieces from tarmac that does not roll properly. I dont know but those pieces are rare because its a ferrari with licensing from them. Plus it's hard to get Ferrari's licensing for diecast personally i collect what i like. I have 180sx from microturbo, minigt lbwk lambo & nissan gtr, tarmac ferrari, ministation rwb, poprace rwb, hotwheels rwb. small collection where i can showcase all of them.

    • @modelcarshouston
      @modelcarshouston  2 месяца назад

      I'm genuinely why people like rolling pieces? Does it feel more real? Does it give some sense of worth?

    • @machxisgaming3409
      @machxisgaming3409 2 месяца назад +1

      It gives that sense of realness when collecting a rolling piece. Ofcux it would not compare to owning a real car but thats how it feels to me. Its like buying a car in real life but in 1/64, 1/43, 1/18 size version compared from the real 1/1. Especially when its highly detailed.

    • @yongling9825
      @yongling9825 2 месяца назад

      @@machxisgaming3409 Tarmac Works HOBBY64 models may or may not roll (even if they do, not as smoothly as the less expensive GLOBAL64 lineup) as they focus on authentic ride height. If I do get a 1/18 scale model, it has to roll and sport functioning steering & opening parts as the scale should be sufficiently large to include these features without really sacrificing other aspects.
      If it's something like Amalgam, God, the 1/8 scale models sport details and features like no other, but cost as much as an actual car. 😱

      A trick I use is to go through your collection often, especially if a portion of it is not displayed/stored away. Eventually you may find pieces you aren't passionate about/interested in anymore that you can purge out. Being current on future releases is great but enjoying what you have more important.
