VET ABUSE BIRD AND CLIP BIRDS WINGS WITHOUT PERMISSION!
Today Nicole came to free fly with us. Her little cute dusky conure Oakey is free flight trained and got abuse by the vet! The vet cruelty clip all his primes wings off now Oakley can't fly no more.
Flying is natural for birds as running for kids or galloping for horses. do you want to take the natural instinct from a bird away who wants to fly? Or cut horses tendons so they can’t run?
Clippers should admit they clip because it’s easier for them not for the bird.
Like Nicole stated the vet told her that Oakley was Flighty I the back so they clip him because it was easier for them to trim his nails and hold him down.
A bird needs to fly to feel safe and it can protect itself.
Clippers are robbing natural instincts from birds and handicapped them for their own advancement.
Can you tell from this video HOW HAPPY FLIGHTED BIRDS ARE?

Questions. I’m in Southern California, where are you guys at that you are flying these birds.? The next question is how are you so comfortable with your birds having flag capability? If I open my door and my bird flew away, that would be the end of it. Do you just neverlet them freely roam and that’s not something that could happen? I’ve had birds fly away and they don’t come back. Does this training help them to return to you? Is that why you do it?
Hi James!
Great question.
1. We are in Los Angeles area.
2. I fly with a GPS
3. I don’t let them roam around. Some free flyers do. But it’s bigger risk taking.
4. I wrote a bestseller book if you want to learn more about free flying and how to train your parrot. www.angelicparrots.com/product/book-how-to-train-your-parrot-for-free-fly/

I clip mu birds wings but where there is no blood
Some people clip their bird’s wing because it’s easier to tame them, safer for them, and for training them. Clipping their wings is like getting a hair cut. It grows back and it’s not painful. However, I don’t agree with clipping their wings regularly after their tamed and trained cause it serves no purpose. Also I think that what the vet did was wrong because he should’ve asked for permission to clip the bird’s wing.
I clip Lunar's wings just for safety, but I let him him fly to his cage. I'm going to let them grow now to see what happens.
I am considering clipping my 2 birds, they're very untame and aggressive. I have one rescue fully flighted bird who I would never ever clip as she knows how to control her flight and not hurt herself nor the others around her
My mom clipped my lovebirds wings and when i was at school she climbed out of the cage and went on the heater and burned her feet!! The vet said a toe might fall of.. Very upsetting.. After i told her not to for safety reasons (dog)

But isn’t cutting your birds nails really bad?..
Woah_ Hey_ not really they can get too long at a point and could have trouble landing or walking
Woah_ Hey_ no it’s ok to do it. if you owned a bird you would know the struggle of it.
shadøw Draws UwU Yeah like water, food, big cage and a cuttle bone and some toys 😌
Sometimes clipping birds wings are for their own safety, it is your own decision as an owner to clip their wings or not. I own a poultry farm where we had to clip some wings of our ducks because one of our mallards died in the woods from an animal because I accidentally scared it when it wasn’t expecting me to come around the corner. I now clip their wings so they won’t fly away. I have many hiding places for them if they get spiked by a hawk or another animal. I clip my parakeets wings because they will continuously fly to the windows and one time they hurt their wing because of it. I do it to protect my birds from themselves and from anything else. The parallels have so many toys to play on to climb around the house safely. It is not animal abuse, it does not hurt them, they can grow it back. It is all up to the owner. If it does not hurt the bird, or damages then psychologically, it is not animal abuse!!
I used to clip my hens wings, but no longer need to. I agree sometimes it is necessary.
Ok if you clip your ducks wings because they live outside
BUT PARAKEET??
You always have a opportunity to make a bird safe room. You can't be so ignorant and clip their wings just because you are not able to divide them from the window?! You obviously have to think of something. That's animal abuse. Flying is important for a bird, or why do you think they're born with wings?
@@yolk5001 lots of people clip their parakeets wings, mine are also clipped. A lot of times parakeets wings come clipped in pet stores, it is very normal for a parakeet to have its wings clipped. My parakeets wings are clipped but when they grow out I'm going to let them fly around. (I got them from a pet store) And its necessary sometimes to clip their wings, but its the owners decision if they want to clip th3 wings or not.
@@cosplayercore8978 Yeah it's totally the owners decision to clip their wings. Because birds are just objects and you bought them with your money. Totally doesn't matter how the bird feels. No, no they actually don't care when you clip their wings because you can see the bird emotions

I know I’m late, I also know I’m no professional at birds but..I agree, clipping someone’s bird or pet without permission is very wrong. However, if we are talking about “clipping wings” on general, I don’t see anything wrong with that. Vets or yourself can clip them(and the vet that did that, is one in MANY vets.) Clipping wings can be great so if you wanna take your birdy out they can’t fly HELLA fast and high and just yeet away. However, you shouldn’t clip them dangerously and to short for them to fly at all.
At the end of the day, it’s up to the owner~
My friends dog was injured at a veterinarian hospital. After a operation they put her small dog on a heating pad, it was too hot and cooked part of his flesh while he slept. They had to operate on him again, to repair the damage. She did not sue them, but agreed that they would put out a statement and warning letter about the heating pads being used on small animals. Through the veterinary association to all the vets in Canadian. The dog recovered nicely, but with some scar tissue. 🐶
28:42 I love how the little bird is just chilling with the big dudes
I had 2 budgies named Sunset and Tweety. Sunset was yellow with a bit of green and Tweety was blue and white. I was both training them for freeflying and I had the same thing with Sunset what happend to Oakley. And shortly after his wings got clipped, he died from sickness. Tweety was so sad after that. I noticed she was very lonely so I brought her to a breeder who is a good friend of my family and owns a lot of budgies closeby. She's been living there for 5 months now and has a new partner now. So hopefully next spring we'll have some baby budgies but I'm never going back to that vet again.
Inge van Oudheusden so sorry what happen to you. Vets stress birds. Also if it’s just a nail, beak or wing trim. Birds are smart. They know what’s going on.
Awwww i went to the vet and they clip one of my birds wing but not the other so now one is flying and the other is prob jelouse

I am fine with clipping the wings, I personally clip my parakeet’s wings but only to the point that she can still get some lift. And when her feathers grow back I let her fly until she gets too aggressive with flying and starts hitting or almost hitting things. I do this because birds injuring or dying because they fly into things is way to common. Lucky has already had a few close calls. If anyone is going to tell me “oh, you shouldn’t do that, it’s bad” or something with no substance. 1. it does not cause the bird pain, 2. I only clip lucky’s wings for safety, 3. I only clip a few of the flight feathers but she can still glide and when her feathers grow back I let her fly for a few months. I love Carolin’s videos and I am subscribed.
Lucky and Apollo me too, because I would be sad if blueberry and guacamole (my birds) crashed into something and got hurt or died
I i'm a friends with someone and there family member saved a bird but the bird had problems with its wings so they had to be clipped if there weren't clipped the bird would have broken wings...
Carolin (or anyone with knowledge of flighted birds)..... How come the birds sometimes fly so close to the ground and not very high in the air?🤔
I came here from Marlene’s channel and am trying to learn as much as I can about birds.
I provide large animal rescue on my farm, and while I have a perfect building to help disaster affected birds for foster placement, I first need to know as much as I can about birds in general.
P.S. I am going to hire a aviary specialist (and bird knowledgeable volunteers) to help with set up and realize this will take years to research and learn.
Thank you. 💚🌺💚
Sometimes with my experience is that they like to scan the ground and look for things or they wanna be near the one they are bonded to.
Chip's memories ~ Thank you so much for this information. That makes a lot of sense since you explained it that way. Thanks again!

Because its wing had been trimed
crazy craft girl ~ I didn’t think that Carolin clipped any of her bird’s wings and that’s why they fly.
My Eric dive bombs when he gets excited, it is just building up their skills! If a bird is terrible at flying their wings should be clipped in order for them to learn. I usually love Caroline's videos but this one annoyed me tbh, it's not abuse if it is necessary and the owners preference 💛
There is nothing wrong with clipping your birds wings but I do agree that it wasn't right for the vet to do it without asking.
I have known people who have lost birds because the uncliped bird flew into something or got seriously injured. Your free to raise your bird however you wish but I will keep clipping my Cockatoo because she almost died flying into a wall.
Livebearer Fancier were in this together. I’m going to clip my birds wings too. Maybe not frequent but when I feel it’s needed then yes.

If you can keep your bird safe indoors go right ahead. The advice I follow is from a woman who owns a parrot rescue in my area and she told me 2 things.
1. It's silly to think that your'e infringing on your birds freedom by clipping their wings because they haven't been captive bread vary long so just by keeping the bird in a cage or in captivity their freedom has already been infringed upon so just keep them happy and healthy.
2. Most accidental deaths of pet birds are caused by the bird being able to fly so if you don't think you can keep the areas of the house they have access to 100% safe then you should clip them and make sure they a supervised when outside of their cage.
you're enabled to sue, especially if they added any extra cost
I'm surprised you're not already accusing someone of trying to steal your bird seconds into the video.

Same as taking out cats claws and thats permanent. It leaves the cat defenseless and it causes them to bite instead which is worse and cruel.
Carolin von Petzholdt if I choose not to free fly outside would I be a bad owner?
sometimes it it necessary but still its not abusive. that sweet conure that you've been trying so had to save. (thank you for that) that little baby would be safe with a new owner if that stupid breeder would had just clipped 2 flight feathers. until the bird was ready.
I say otherwise. Clipping birds wings aren’t hurting them at all. Clipping them to the point where they can’t fly at all is bad. But clipping there wings so they can’t fly super high and such is good. Your not hurting them mentally. The birds wings grow back.
Thank god someone clarified that they grow back
@@boredofmindgames4662 Clipping wings is like cutting hair. It isn't painful (just scary sometimes because usually someone who the bird doesn't know is holding them) and is temporary. Not sure why this particular youtuber is saying it's animal cruelty.

she just clipped the wings its not abuse they will grow back
The flaw in your argument is that one, clipping does not hurt your bird, and two, it grows back.
Ic you clip to much birds start to bleed out and there feathers have vains i be careful while clipping a birds feathers
DragonStar but tearing off nails is painful. Clipping feathers is not. Just as clipping nails is not painful. “Grow back” and “not painful” must occur at the same time.
She probably just got offended
Well actually feathers don’t grow back they have to lose the feathers and grow in completely new ones. It might not be “painful” but birds are very smart and delicate animal and clipping there wing-the thing that give them the most mobile and enjoyment of moving around- is actually horrible and really stressful on the bird.

the most beautiful thing for me is seeing my parrot fly after me in the house. I'd die if he wouldn't be able to fly to me
I have a flock of wild lorikeets living in a tree behind my house, and I regularly see wild eclectus, sulfur crested cockatoos, galahs, black cockatoos, red wing parrots, and flocks of cockatiels in my neighbourhood! The joys of living in Australia! I love seeing all our amazing parrots! 😀😀😀😀

There are friendly rainbow lorikeets in Melbourne. They are always flying together when it rains.

A bird's wings should be clipped at least sometimes. Clipping a bird's wings can help prevent it from flying into large windows or into ceiling fans. But if a vet clipped a bird's wings without your permission, you have the rights to sue them.
OMGAWD! How terrible to trim wings without asking. First off it is not complimentary, clinics charge 10.00 to 15.00. Second, this wing cut is HORRIFYING & AWFUL! It is way to short and choppy. I have a free-flighted bird and trimmed winged birds, this situation is SO unacceptable. Keep us updated!
Loveyourparrot Education yes. I totally agree.
Dip
I don’t personally own a bird but I honestly don’t understand why people feel the need to CLIP their birds wings. Birds fly. It’s what they do, it’s their source of getting around and for exercise. The only thing I agree with when clipping a birds wings is when someone first brings their bird home and if the bird is a little freaked out, trimming a few flight feathers to make it easier for the person to be able to bond with their bird. That being said I’ve heard things where people have clipped their birds wings and their feathers don’t grow back, whether this is true or not I don’t know.
Sometimes just a small trim is helpful so they don’t hurt themselves.
The birds are all so beautiful. Angel is the coolest!!💚

I understand if someone decides to clip a bird's wings, but doing it without permission is definitely an abuse
If you're a vet, never do this without an specification
And if you bring your bird to the vet, tell them specifically not to do it, just to be sure, because then this kind of stuff can happen
However, if you get a bird you should be conscious that even with its wings getting clipped it can fly, so the best option is to train them so that accidents do not happen
I got my baby from a breeder and her wings got clipped. 1 week later she flys like her wings aren’t even clipped! I’m so happy! She flies EVERYWHERE :)
I hate anyone who hurts an animal or animals
The ONLY time you should clip a birds wings is when they could get themselves in trouble, like a turkey on a farm. I can't believe that vet!
I love that you train your birds to free fly, but not everyone agrees. I almost lost a parrot because some dumba** opened a sliding door. He flew out and after posting posters offering a reward I got him back. After that I clipped his wings. I don’t feel comfortable letting them free fly. It is not animal abuse.

The people who clipped the cute birds wings should pay the owner. ITS UNFAIR!
Some birds have to have wings clipped for there safety or problems with the wings
But seriously though every time when I sad I watch your videos and it makes me feel better
Clipping bird wings is not abuse. It’s only if you do not want it to fly all around. But I do agree with you, they should have not clipped the wings without permission. You can press charges if you want, but you know, like everyone else does, they will always grow back. Keep up the good content!!!💖💖
My conure is clipped and she has no issue with it. She can get scared when her wins aren’t clipped and she has flew into a parking lot once. We often take her on trips to make up for her wings being clipped. She loves it a lot and will have fun screaming at people while we are walking and looking out the window while we drive somewhere. She’s also my emotional support animal so she isn’t restricted on where she can go like other birds would be. We are thinking on taking her with us on vacations sometime.
Does this make up for having clipped wings?
Just as long as you make sure the bird exercises it's wings by moving your hand up and down so the bird flaps its wings, make it into a game 😊
Like people different birds have different ops and fears sky ( my Amazon) likes to be in her cage cuz if she’s not on my shoulder then she’ll put herself away but some parrots like my little sisters Macaw hates being in his cage and the 2 can’t meet cuz sky is aggressive and it’s not fiar on boom
She’s out f her cage all the time and she loves to sit on my shoulder while I draw, sometimes she will run around on my bed or on a table for fun. She’s pretty happy and not scared of much. She’s not even afraid of horses and other big things. She only afraid of balloons and big flying birds which makes it easier to take her places with us.
Emotional support animals are just regular but the only special treatment they get is they can live in rented properties and can go on the cabin of planes. Service animals are the ones that can go everywhere.
I see all theses people getting mad in the comments. First, it was wrong of the vet to clip without permission. That should not have happened. Second. These ARE free flight birds, so they would need to be unclipped for training. Some owners clip wings for medical reasons, or if they live in places were it would be unsafe for the birds to fly. If done right, clipping is painless. But, if not done right the birds can be hurt. Thank you.
Lol she scared the bird
The bird had a crash landing
Love this u tuber
Clipping bird wings without permission is like a stab to the heart to the owner
when angel, yara, and hope came at you at full speed 😂
Although the vet should have respected your decision, it's misinformation to say that wing clipping is animal cruelty.
In some cases, wing clipping is necessary for the safety of the bird. In fact, for the average bird owner, I'd recommend it so that they do not lose their bird or their bird has an accident. Very few people train their bird for free flight and even still I'd recommend training the bird to use something like the aviator harness and flight line. Even if a bird does not mean to fly away, strong winds or something spooking your bird can result in the loss of your feathered friend.
But in ALL cases, wing clipping does not hurt the bird anymore than cutting your hair hurts you. It's also just as temporary, and new flight feathers grow back in molt.
Ooooo your birds really pretty her beak even looks sort of like plastic :3
And I have a green cheek conure as a bird pet she/he’s an adorable bird :3
I also have a green cheek conure! She's so goofy haha
Clipping is only needed when absolutely necessary. If is really was necessary to clip, that vet should have asked for permission to do so.
I like your videos but, clipping a bird's wing isn't animal cruelty, it's a lot safer for your bird, let's take example my bird pepper shes a sun conure, I love her to death she's my best friend, when I got her they had her wings clipped but when she grew those feathers back, she was flying into walls and getting herself into trouble and hurting herself so I've had to have her wings reclipped, it doesn't hurt the bird it's a lot safer and keeps them more safe. I agree the vet should have asked, but don't label your title as animal cruelty for clipping wings because it's a lot more safer for a lot of birds like my baby girl who could have got herself really injured and I can't let that happen to her, she was their for me and my worst times. I want her to be safe and not get herself hurt.
you can train them not to run into things but there is a downside to clipping them, they need exercise and need to be fit so keeping their wings is also good. but it all depends on the owner!
That happened to me too! We took our parrot to get her nails clipped. I never asked for her wings clipped but they did anyway!
Clipping wings is just like a hair cut. The feathers grow out by the time your bird gets to know you. Clipping does not cause pain. My birds are all flighted since I have had them for a good time. (26 years for the oldest) they are easily picked up and handled now. But, a professional should let you decide what they need. My vet doesn't even mention clipping wings, only nail trims so they do not get hung on anything and cause fear.
Actually people clip birds wing feathers so they are better at fly and don’t get injured while there’re flying
I had to clip my birds wing feathers because he used to be a free flight bird but kept getting attacked by robins (they're very territorial) the reason I clipped them was because every time I open the cage he would fly out so It took a while but he's not a free flight any more and his feathers grew back (not the same size so that really worried me but the vet said he's okay)
My friend's cockatoo Murphy was winged and struggled flying and crashed into stuff often. We decided to have her wings clipped so she would not get injured crashing into stuff, the bird is still the happiest bird we ever new and is a lot safer. I do agree the vet should not have done it without permission. BTW wings getting clipped is not painful for the bird, so please do your research.
It's not cruel.... It's only cruel when they do it for no reason... there are many reasons to clip a birds wings and I'm not gonna list them because I'm legit too lazy I just wanna prove a point 😂😂😂😂
Galaxy Puppy you aren’t proving anything with this comment.

I don't need to....
Clipping wings can be used for training... and there is a lower percentage of them escaping.... the only down side is that they won't be able to fly as much.... they will hover and like a jump thingy
@@Strawhatparrots I know so many bird owners that have died because they have fly into things but they would of still be alive if there wings were clipped (I don't clip the wings so bad that makes them cant fly anymore, I clip the wings a bit so they can fly around a bit.)
I only have my birds wings clipped because where I live has crows, hawks, & a lot of things that could swoop down & snatch my cockatiel (Beaker) if I let him free fly. Also, we do let his wings grow long for a while but we have to be very careful to have our fans off whenever he's out of his cage. clipping bird wings is NOT animal cruelty. My birds wings are clipped because I'm scared their gonna fly into something.

Your birds are not blind they won't fly into anything. And flying for a bird is like running for a child
window Cleaner I do not like clipping Birds wings I feel like they're right is to fly but they're still a good reason why some people clip wings if somebody brings home a new bird and they take it out of the cage and wings are not clipped the bird could panic and fly into windows and walls I know this because of personal experience birds get startled very easily
I’ve got cockatiels that fly into walls when they get spooked, so I can understand why you are scared that they are going to fly into something. I’m thinking of getting their wings clipped again.
I took my 2 birds to the vet to get there NAILS cliped not there wings, I said to the vet person "Hey I only want both of there nails cliped" The vet person came out with blood on her because she cut there wings and she cut them to short.

They couldn't rescue it 😭
Shalini Sengupta WELL THEY COULD HAVE CALLED POLICE 👮♂️ 🚓 IF THAT WAS MY BIRD I WOULD HAVE TAKEN THEM TO COURT
She could have called the fire department, they would have taken it down as its a fire hazard bcos the bird can chew on the wires
But atleast she tried.. She was the only one who cared about it.. Others didn't even care.. I really respect her.
@@shalinisengupta1031 of course I completely agree!! She tried the hardest but she should know she could have called the fire department
Clipping a birds wings are only animal abuse if it’s not necessary!
Like my birds they are baby’s we have a cat and a dog around so it’s dangerous so we clipped there wings for there safety but they can still fly 5-15m around my house.
hi plz reply i love u and your birds soo much😊🐦🐦
That vet should be fired, you can’t do something like that without permission AND all birds should have the freedom to fly,it’s like a docter breaking a kids leg
You’re too dramatic. First “oh no someone stole my bird!!!!!!!!11!1!1!1” Now this?
Really, woman.
You can clip your birds wings, just not to an extent that it draws blood or disables flight.
I have two budgerigars, blueberry and guacamole. Blueberry once flew into a window, which hurt her and she was dizzy for a while. I was scared of it happening again, so I got both of their wings trimmed so they can at least glide, but limits distance and height.
I don’t train them to free flight.
The issue is this a free flighted bird and the owner said DONT.
a vet clipped my birds wings to the point that he had not a single flight feather. he was missing all his wing feathers and he would fall to the bottom of the cage he now refuses to free fly ( he's a hahns macaw
That’s horrible! I’m so sorry. Vets do that and they clip to the point that they don’t have any balance. Just horrible
Interesting about vets clipping wings without permission... Id put that in each video introduction to make new parrot owners aware of this practise.
I love how she says its gorgeous and none is here 😂😂😂
Clipping wings is ok as long as you do not clip to much
I know she’s acting like every single bird is sad and depressed if their wings are clipped
@@combatwombat9216 without permission, yeah.
She's bonkers, but great. Funny the way she said "I bit my tougue". And watching the bird walk not fly infuriates me. And these people are just lovely...
It looks like it got photoshopped
It is
GaChA CoOkIe the thumbnail is but the wings were REALLY clipped I could tell because the birds wing were a little different
The bird that had clipped feathers looked into camera as to say, yes what was big idea clipping my feathers???
I support u totally but they were trying to be nice
My aunt works at a parrot store and she will clip the wings of a parrot with permission and she knows how to clip it just right where it will grow back unlike the unprofessional vet

I say sue the vet that person had no permission to clip their wings that is considered animal abuse!

when i was 8 my mom told the vet not to clip my dove's wings (My dove her name was snowflake) but did the vet hear my mom noooo the vet cliped snowflakes wings anyway! i was PISSED beacuse i was FREE FLY TRAINING snowflake at the time...
That is a crazy story. Firstly i would not have paid for that consultation.
I bet they were pissed to say the least.
Conures are quite gentle and placid from my experience. My daughter has one, and she is absolutely soo loving. The vet had no right to clip its wings without permission. Complimentary or not.
OMG that is so messed up it like taking away there life and freedom 😢😢😢😢😢😢
Ikr I hope that who clipped his or she's wings got fired
I love how she says that its a gorgeous day and no one is here😂😂😂
Unless you have a young bird( especially the ones known to be clumsy) than don’t clip your birds wings. It will cause loss of flying muscles overtime, and your bird will also most likely develop separation anxiety and become very dependent! Don’t clip your birds feathers once they come back!
Her: it's like seeking a needle in a haystack
My mind that's learning about figurative language: SIMILE
That’s terrible I clip my birds wings myself they don’t suffer because they started to bump into things and get hurt but I totally understand especially when you free fly
My Tiels wings were clipped when I bought her, but her wings were half way grown back. I let her enjoy flying around the house.
What are the vet thinking!!! Parrots are cute animals why in the world would this vet harm the cute parrots😣😔🐦
