@@JSHIPLIFE The cruise ship was 4 hours late It was 32ﾟ in New York City I waited in line 4 hours there were people who had been there all day. Since the boat was late they were speeding and the rocking was unbelievable everyone on the cruise told me not to judge cruising based on this cruise in particular but it was bad the food was bad we got to Bermuda lakes we left early they canceled all the excursions and didn't tell us. However the boat was rocking so bad I couldn't wait to get off so I was one of the 1st people off and I ended up going with a tour company just that just happened to show up anyway because the ship had already told them the excursions were canceled it would have been a waste had I not gone to crystal caves I would have really been angry. The staff was amazing but the food was bad and all the rocking back-and-forth going and coming it was virtually impossible for me to enjoy anything on the ship 1 day I took a 25 hour nap. Also the best food that I had was from room service it was a turkey wedge And a Greek salad that was the best thing I I eat. I also think they need to get chefs from other places the whole staff was Filipino Asian and you could tell based on the food there was really no depyh it was all kind of bland and blah

I took a look at it after my other comment, and the Mardi Gras doesnt have those, either. I think neither has a library, either like most, including the Vista, do. Let me know if the website is accurate or not in those respects.
I am happy to see that you actually like some of the features of the older ships. I started cruising in 1993 on the Ecstasy with John Heild as the cruise director. I miss the Fantasy class ships!
David, that is a fascinating coincidence! Our first cruise (ever) was on that same ship . . . in February, 1996. Have you found that the older ships give better service generally? Certainly, in my research, they give much better pricing and bargains.
@@brentshuffler1234 We have sailed on 4 other Fantasy class ships and 3 of the 4 Spirit class ships. Some of those cruises Have been since cruising has reopened. I agree that the service seems be better on the smaller ships. To us 115,000 ton or less ships are the best!
The owner is actually French. By the time I fly over Mexico and take a quick vacation I’ve saved Hundreds and at times thousands of dollars. My girl is French and my current dentist is my girlfriends mom former dentist when they had an office in Paris
There are more than 300 dentists in the little town of Algodones, MX - right across the border from Yuma, if that is a more convenient location for someone.

Well done! You have done so many cruises on new ships in just the past year, it is amazing. Two issues: [1] QUALITY: I realised that you observed a number of issues with inaugural sailings and with first-year sailings of new ships. Would you recommend waiting until maybe the 2nd year or beyond to experience these newer ships? That should give the cruiselines enough time to respond to critiques and to fix all the things that need to be fixed with food-quality, service, amenities, entertainment, et cetera . . . . [2] VALUE: Also, it seems that prices, on average, are much higher on the new ships. The amount that you quoted for a 7-night cruise in an Inside Cabin on that Carnival ship would easily get you closer to a 14-night cruise on another ship (e.g., MSC, RCL, Holland America, or older Carnival ships).
Going on this cruise in march for my anniversary and it will be my first cruise. I’m so scared to be on the ocean for a week. Excited for endless drinks and shaqs chicken
I’ve been on 6 carnival cruises out of Sydney and have never seen a sail away party anything close to those you’ve seen. We get a do playing music on the top deck if we are lucky. I get that most people are taking in the amazing views for the first 45 minutes of sailing out of Sydney, but it would be nice to experience a real sail out. We cruise out of Brisbane on carnival luminosa next month, one of the ugliest sail outs in the world, hopefully the party is much better.
I went on the Mardi Gras in October. I personally didn't want to eat in the MDR. I Enjoyed the Big Chicken. Street eats at lunch. I liked not having to go to the MDR. There was plenty of places to eat. The piano bar was a blast.

New Subscriber here! My parents are booked on this cruise for next month, we were invited but I was worried the 6/8 yr old wouldent be ready for a cruise and me either. I want to start with a Disney Cruise for the kids, I’m thinking that’s the best way to start them out. Before kids I was a huge cruiser, so I’m hoping with kids we can get back into it soon! Here are my tips: [1] In practice, all the major cruise-lines have very good programmes for young people of all ages. Typically, it is so well organised that there are at least three distinctive areas and programmes: infants; young children; and teenagers. This allows for better experiences for each age-group, while also allowing parents to have some time each day by themselves. . . . [2] Price-wise, you will tend to find that Disney cruiseline is very expensive; Carnival and Royal Caribbean, for example, have lots of options for children of all ages, and you can find much more affordable price-points for family-vacations. Start with shorter itineraries (7 nights or fewer) and go in off-peak times of the year to have a less crowded experience.

Liz, you are right about that: planning, budgeting, and research are very important and rewarding. Know all the major cruiselines that are available, the ships that they offer, and the range of experiences that they offer. Hint: if you choose smaller/older ships, you will likely get to your budget faster, as the newer ones are overpriced and overhyped for the most part. An Inside Cabin . . . especially in off-peak dates of the year . . . will guarantee you a (very) low price per night. With all of those savings, you will be able to cruise longer and more often.
My first cruise was on the Carnival Triumph (only its second cruise) in its inaugural year from Manhattan in '99. Most of the cruises I've taken have been on the older Carnival ships and for me, the new huge ships are a bit too much. As I don't go on a cruise to be sailing on an amusement park. We all sail for different reasons and for me it is relaxation not hyperactivity at all hours. Not knocking those folks who want 24/7 excitement.

They had announced a battery of new shows that were supposed to premiere on the Carnival Celebration including a Brazilian Carnival themed show called Rio, were the new shows being played on this Cruise or are they premiering in 2023?

Your feedback was fantastic. I went on one cruise which RCL Oasis of the Seas. I liked it, but Carnival appears to be a party boat. Not including Carnival, can you make any other recommendations? We like some luxury and good entertainment for our adult children in their twenties. We want to treat them to another fantastic vacay. They said MSC Seascape looks beautiful and boring so that is a no go.
Brother Jay, I too was looking for you on my 7 day Carnival Mardi Gra Cruise that just ended! What a big & beautiful ship but the food was just not the greatest but otherwise it was cool! I really enjoyed the Turks of Cacos where we rode ATVs! Highlight was seeing 8 time Mr Olympia on the cruise!
I was on the on there 12-4-11-2022 I agree with you about your review. I didn’t like the food on the buffet there was no varieties of food to choose from and what they had was not good at all dining room food was not good but I like the ship
The dining was really slow for our party as well. The second day, we just decided to not return. I had a long list of things we were not happy about and actually emailed them. That's the first time I've ever done that. Our Mardi Gras sailing was awesome Celebration, was lacking.
I love your videos! Was the price paying for double occupancy? I would love to try Carnival but for $600 I can get a Balcony on an 11+ day MSC (maybe not the Seascape but the older ships). I would absolutely love to try this and don’t mind interior cabins at all (agree sometimes being in a balcony is too hot or cold from whatever temperature it is outside). However if that price was for you and Lauren or you and another guest then that’s totally a great deal. Costa Maya and Cozumel have been two of my favorite places to visit so far. The sellers are very pushy at the ports but they still have some nice things if you hunt around and outside the port things are a lot more affordable and less pushy. Both places are really beautiful and relaxing. Glad to hear your experience was better. They honestly should be giving you a free suite on each cruise for all the publicity you bring the ships!
Lexa Power, that is a very good point: most of the cruise-ships charge the same (or almost as much) for a solo traveller as for double occupancy. MSC is a great exception to that and you are right about how low the prices can be on that cruise-line. My question to you is this: have you actually travelled on MSC? It appears to have done a very good job with the MSC Seascape, for instance, but I have heard some negative comments about food-quality and service-quality for that cruise-line; just wondering what your experience has been and/or that of others that you know?
I love the seafood shack. I had put in a suggestion to John carnival's ambassador that they need to also do fried lobster tails. He said he was going to talk to someone over meals but never got back with us.
I just got off a 8 day cruise on the Celebration and guess what. There was an engine fire it caused a funny smell on the lower levels for couple hours but I barely noticed I was too busy buying a drink..lol
Went on my last cruise on Oasis of the Seas in early December, and can't wait for my next one. Been watching your videos to hold me over haha. Thanks for the footage man!
Hey J. I got to meet you on the Carnival Celebration! I love your work, and you are a very humble young man. I agree with the show analysis for the Grand Central area. We got there an hour early to get a good seat for the show. The show in the theater, I do not remember much past the first song. I went to sleep.

Reference the seafood shack I always order the fish and chips but something said they the lobster roll. The lobster itself was cooked great however they must have saved my shrimp for you as I didn't get much. Lesson learned and I will stick with the fish/chips. Will be on celebration this summer and symphony of the seas for Xmas. Last but not least the Icon of the seas summer of 2024. Keep up the good work kind sir.
just got back yesterday, it was my second cruise (first was the glory)....2 major complaints - venues are too small for the number of guests (lots of standing room only everywhere) and not enough dining hours (sporadic open/close times). Otherwise, it was great - good food and entertainment plus great staff all around. My room was nice (cove balcony), the gym was well equipped, and everything was clean. And although the lido deck seemed a bit small, it was easy to find places to lounge....and plenty of bars to grab a drink wherever i was.
Happy New Year to you Jay. You are so hard to keep up with. Looks like you did have some good experiences on the Celebration. I appreciate that you gave us a mini tour of what to expect. We are booked for 02/05 mainly because of a dedicated agent who handles our Carnival cruises. Sometimes I think we’ve overbooked ourselves, 4 cruises in 1.3 months and we don’t have quite the energy that you have but we still like to watch the comical shenanigans that “Carnies” are known for. Who knows, maybe we’ll see you somewhere this year. 🛳️🛳️

I went on some epic cruises with Carnival from 89-98. I liked the smaller ships in the early days. So fun.

Brother Jay, I too was looking for you on my 7 day Carnival Mardi Gra Cruise that just ended! What a big & beautiful ship but the food was just not the greatest but otherwise it was cool! I really enjoyed the Turks of Cacos where we rode ATVs! Highlight was seeing 8 time Mr Olympia on the cruise!
I was on the on there 12-4-11-2022 I agree with you about your review. I didn’t like the food on the buffet there was no varieties of food to choose from and what they had was not good at all dining room food was not good but I like the ship

The dining was really slow for our party as well. The second day, we just decided to not return. I had a long list of things we were not happy about and actually emailed them. That's the first time I've ever done that. Our Mardi Gras sailing was awesome Celebration, was lacking.
I love your videos! Was the price paying for double occupancy? I would love to try Carnival but for $600 I can get a Balcony on an 11+ day MSC (maybe not the Seascape but the older ships). I would absolutely love to try this and don’t mind interior cabins at all (agree sometimes being in a balcony is too hot or cold from whatever temperature it is outside). However if that price was for you and Lauren or you and another guest then that’s totally a great deal.
Costa Maya and Cozumel have been two of my favorite places to visit so far. The sellers are very pushy at the ports but they still have some nice things if you hunt around and outside the port things are a lot more affordable and less pushy. Both places are really beautiful and relaxing.
Glad to hear your experience was better. They honestly should be giving you a free suite on each cruise for all the publicity you bring the ships!
Lexa Power, that is a very good point: most of the cruise-ships charge the same (or almost as much) for a solo traveller as for double occupancy. MSC is a great exception to that and you are right about how low the prices can be on that cruise-line. My question to you is this: have you actually travelled on MSC? It appears to have done a very good job with the MSC Seascape, for instance, but I have heard some negative comments about food-quality and service-quality for that cruise-line; just wondering what your experience has been and/or that of others that you know?

I love the seafood shack. I had put in a suggestion to John carnival's ambassador that they need to also do fried lobster tails. He said he was going to talk to someone over meals but never got back with us.
I just got off a 8 day cruise on the Celebration and guess what. There was an engine fire it caused a funny smell on the lower levels for couple hours but I barely noticed I was too busy buying a drink..lol
I missed cruising during COVID-19. There were so much more room to move around the ship, without bumping into the other guests.
Went on my last cruise on Oasis of the Seas in early December, and can't wait for my next one. Been watching your videos to hold me over haha. Thanks for the footage man!

Hey J. I got to meet you on the Carnival Celebration! I love your work, and you are a very humble young man. I agree with the show analysis for the Grand Central area. We got there an hour early to get a good seat for the show. The show in the theater, I do not remember much past the first song. I went to sleep.
Ill be going on my first cruise soon, and went with carnival for DR/turks.. Great price and room...im not big on being on the water too long.. so I will see if this will be annual.. thanks for info!!

Reference the seafood shack I always order the fish and chips but something said they the lobster roll. The lobster itself was cooked great however they must have saved my shrimp for you as I didn't get much. Lesson learned and I will stick with the fish/chips. Will be on celebration this summer and symphony of the seas for Xmas. Last but not least the Icon of the seas summer of 2024. Keep up the good work kind sir.

just got back yesterday, it was my second cruise (first was the glory)....2 major complaints - venues are too small for the number of guests (lots of standing room only everywhere) and not enough dining hours (sporadic open/close times). Otherwise, it was great - good food and entertainment plus great staff all around. My room was nice (cove balcony), the gym was well equipped, and everything was clean. And although the lido deck seemed a bit small, it was easy to find places to lounge....and plenty of bars to grab a drink wherever i was.
Horizon compared to the carnival celebration for a first time cruise 🚢 which would you pick⚓️
We will be on the Mardi Gras 1st week in March, so looking forward to it. Will you be on that sailing?
Happy New Year to you Jay. You are so hard to keep up with. Looks like you did have some good experiences on the Celebration. I appreciate that you gave us a mini tour of what to expect. We are booked for 02/05 mainly because of a dedicated agent who handles our Carnival cruises. Sometimes I think we’ve overbooked ourselves, 4 cruises in 1.3 months and we don’t have quite the energy that you have but we still like to watch the comical shenanigans that “Carnies” are known for. Who knows, maybe we’ll see you somewhere this year. 🛳️🛳️
