This review right here is why I got hooked on your videos. Your in depth critique of the entertainment is amazing (it's all great, I love your opinion on the entertainment though :-) ). Since you have been there, done that as an entertainer - you can see what is well done and what still needs work. I so appreciate this perspective because a lot of other cruise vloggers aren't talking about this at all. It will be interesting to see how Virgin changes things up and works out the kinks. Jay, it was so nice to meet you on the ship. I tend to agree with most of what you said. A lot of down time for sure. It also seems different areas of the ship should have different music, Techno, Rock, soul, progressive, pop, etc... as to have something for everyone! We felt the low base techno throughout the pool deck all day got to us a little, lol.
Appreciate your opinion but I just came off the Scarlet Lady a few days ago and a LOT has changed. Embarkation was easy, bags were in my cabin, customer service was great; and activities were a plenty. Shows were great but I do give it to you about the Food; could improve. They did have a diner with Hotdogs, wings and French fries and great pizza for those who like that kind of food. Clubs and DJs were great and overall I had a blast for my 60th! The App was user friendly and yes things were booked but I was able to experience everything I wanted to, just go a little earlier and they do they true best to accommodate you. So young or older it’s worth a sail. 🙏🏼💃🏽
Given that it wasn't really a maiden voyage (Scarlet Lady did several cruises for paying passengers out of the UK before moving to Miami) it is a bit concerning that some things like muster drill and the app haven't been sorted out yet.

Just got off the ship. I loved it. I agree on the bar tab/drink package issue, but much of what you didn't care for was personal opinion - I'm not criticizing that, mind you. For example, we also had the seafood tower and loved it, chilled seafood is very common and is what a raw bar generally is. For those wondering who this ship is for? In my opinion, two groups: - People who have grown weary of the cookie cutter formulas of all the other cruise lines, and I fall into that category - I've been on enough that they just don't excite me anymore. - People who have never cruised and have no desire to do so because of the cookie cutter formula. Yes there are absolutely some tweaks that need to be made, but one thing I noticed is that they are listening and making improvements based on feedback

I think it's ridiculous that the entire island only stocked 22 bottles of a brand of Champagne. That seems like they're asking for people to leave disappointed. Even if it is a "higher price" label, MANY cruisers love to splurge and I don't see 22 bottles lasting an entire ship full of people until midnight in any stretch of the imagination!

This was by far one of the funniest yet informative reviews I’ve ever seen!!! I literally laughed out loud at the “the music was garbage” 💀💀💀 I’m set to sail with them in June. I booked this cruise in January 2020. I WISH I would have seen all the reviews prior to booking. But we’ll see!
I agree with your statement that it's a new cruise line and they have some things to work out. I'm guessing over the next year we will see some changes. I also think their whole reason for being is that they do not want to be a "typical" cruise line and don't/won't/shouldn't have some of those typical things. They will either sink or swim based on that. I can't wait for my cruise next month and appreciate your videos on this new cruise line!
Really good review. Not every experience on a ship is positive and its nice to hear an honest critique of this ship. After watching several reviews on YT i would still love to travel on it but i appreciate hearing about potential downsides beforehand as it helps to temper expectations. Update: I hated this cruise so much. I was never so bored in my life. There was absolutely nothing to do during the daytime. Nothing. The entertainment was so strange. Ok. It was whack. The only redeeming factor on this cruise were the restaurants. The dinner menus were extraordinary. The food was to die for. Not enough to make me want to cruise with VV ever again. BTW I have a $600 credit for a future cruise. I don't care.
We sailed on Scarlet Lady before you from the UK, and I agree with you on certain things (like the entertainment), but didn’t find any issues with the food, app, or sailor services. We loved it and can’t wait to board her again in a few weeks! Thankyou for your video. Great to have other opinions.

I think you did a great job Justin. I am not a fan of the style of Virgin. Healthy food, workouts, etc. I am fit and healthy, but on a cruise, I am there to eat, finish out the soft serve ice cream machines, drink, and be rowdy a little with friends. But I am not a college aged person either, so Carnival is not for me either. I appreciate all the edits and production time for this video. But, hey, I think you should have beat the Captain at Badketball. Pull out some of those Harlem Globetrottrrs tricks. Lol
You don't have to have a healthy cruise at all! It's all on there, all the calories, sugar, fat, alcohol, thats all I ate and drank for 4 days!! It's just not presented front and centre and the headline options. The coffee bar will give you free bags of cookies and pastries everytime you walk past it if you want to
We better not be on the same cruise, I ate so much soft serve on one Carnival cruise I actually got a freezer burned spot on my tongue! Yup, a cruise is time for gastronomic debauchery for me.
I'm intrigued by Virgin but apprehensive because it seems mostly fitness related. When I'm in vacation the last thing I want to think about is fitness. Lol
The fitness is there for the novelty, it is not required. You will not be judged at all if you do not participate, I have no desire to exercise at all when I am at sea but it will not stop me from enjoying this ship. Hey, watch other people work out while you sip champagne and call it a day, that's what I will be doing!

Going to give Virgin a shot in February..Saw Ben and Davids video on the Scarlet Lady, so I have to go check it out..Hopefully by then they will have the 'newness' kinks ironed out..Thanks for the informative videos J!
What you also need to take into account is that Ben and David travelled on Virgin in an up market cabin and didn't pay a penny for it.it kinda skews perspectives when you are on a freebie.
I came back to this video after my cruise, and I have to say I agree that the DJ was a huge disappointment after all the hype about having a great venue for the dancing. Personally, I *loved* the food and most of the entertainment. The focus on fitness and wellness was really refreshing, and, for me a much needed reboot.
We got $300 drink tab credit included in our cruise, which was fantastic :) but we would never drink $600 worth of drinks and $300 is the minimum amount that you can add to your drink credit. So im guessing that we will have to pay for drinks out of whatever we put on our onboard credit after we have gone through the $300

Weirdly enough I wasn't enthusiastic about Virgin cruises till now as I'm normally a Princess Cruiser, but after several points that you hate and that I like, also knowing they have changed things because of reviews like this since, I def will be looking at cruising with them next. I have not been on this new Spirit cruise line but I have been on Celebrity, Princess, Royal Caribbean, Carnival and Norwegian …. a total of 27 cruises and enjoyed all but one. Ignore the negativity, we went on it in August and it’s our new favourite cruise line. It’s a classy ship on par with Silverseas. We had a fabulous cruise! The service and food is 2nd to non!
@@karilankford7523 EXACTLY, there are plenty of people who do not want that, nor be around it for their holiday. Many people want to take a holiday just to get away from all of that. There is a market for this type of cruise and the crafty TA will figure out how to sell it. So many people I know simply would never consider a cruise because there are no "adult only" cruise ships currently on the market. There are tons of dual income no kids people with the money wanting to go on a cruise but the options now are either a cruise for people who are in retirement or people traveling with kids, there is not really an in-between.
@@davidcoker7989 Every RC cruise ship and even Carnival have adult only areas so I am not sure what you mean when you say there is no adult only areas on other cruise ships. We have no children and don’t want to be around a lot of other peoples and have never had any problems feeling like we had our own space for adults while cruising.

We love RC, the large ships are the ones I prefer, even though I am in my 60’s I love to zip line and rock climb and even tried flow rider (main word :: tried) but also like just to sit around the pool in the adult only part which is usually beautiful. Have a great cruise whenever you go again!!

Best cruise line out there, and it is really funny to see self proclaimed "cruisers" trashing it on youtube. The whole point of the line is to provide a great cruise for non-cruise fans. Go on VV. You wont regret it.
I agree; I am going in a few months and can't wait. This is a high-end cruise line, not a cruise line like any other. Those that are negatively commenting are not meant for a cruise line like this and are better off going to the more casual and less expensive cruise companies.

I was contemplating going on this ship as a solo cruiser....but after watching a few videos of some of the content creators on the first voyage, that definitely confirmed my decision NOT to sail this cruise line/ship. I am a major extrovert....but I just didn't think that the vibe I gathered (Vegas meets Spring Break.....on crack) was not for me.

We love the shows and all the variety of things to do in RC. I want to eat all the so called bad stuff when I am on vacation so don’t try to deprive me of my fried food, it could get ugly.
I love RC as well. But I also love their sister line Celebrity. Virgin is trying so hard to be hip and cool. Everyone looked so bored sitting around with nothing to do during the day.
@@evecarrington562 we haven’t tried Celebrity I will take a look at them. RC always has so much to do on the ship or if you prefer you can also do nothing. The odd acts and even the decor on Virgin just was not at all appealing. I wonder if there is a big enough market of cruisers that will continue to cruise with them after one cruise, that is what keeps the line afloat, repeat cruisers. I just can’t see even going on one of their cruises let alone returning.
@@danasandoval624 Celebrity is RC's premium line. I love RC cruise line and I won't sail with anyone else. Royal and Celebrity both are about a quality experience with great ships and a fantastic staff. I've never had a bad Royal or Celebrity cruise. If you really want a laid back experience with few to no kids and no crowds, try Celebrity.
I booked for my mom, who is turning 63. I don't think this is for her either now... :( I wish they had a larger pool and a larger focal point at least.

I've only recently heard about Virgin Voyages and was excited to hear about a 18+ cruise ship, since I don't have children and prefer not to be around children on vacation. However, I'm very much a laid back cruise type of person - sit at the pool and sip a drink, have a nice dinner, relax, maybe see a show, and then get a lot of sleep at night. I'm definitely not looking for a party atmosphere, which is what I *think* Virgin might be going for. Either way, your opinions were wonderful and really helped me learn a lot more about this ship and cruise line!
These ships need to hire you for big $$$ to teach them few things. I’d have an issue with the same things. After watching several videos on this ship, I really don’t have any desire to waste my money to find out how I’d like it. Doing our first cruise since COVID-19 in a month on Bliss. You’re nuts bro! Our cruise was outstanding in every way. We had an amazing suite, our rockstar agent was always available and got us everything we asked for. Highly recommend Virgin Voyage. The food, ship, entertainment and service was top notch.

Yeah DJ would make me run if the music wasn't done correctly, the entertainment looks boring as I like to see full production shows since I lived worked in Las Vegas Nv 7 yrs I know what shows are like, also working on 2 major cruiselines we know ...virgin has alot to learn yet and I'm sure they will figure out what works/what doesn't. Excellent unbiased review, subscribed. My wife and I will be going on back-to-back cruises on Scarlet Lady in late June. After 30+ cruises, this will be our first on Virgin. Sounds like it's going to be a unique adventure.
Thanks for the review and please do another video talking about the room and the seating options around the cruise ship. I saw another review and the seating and decor makes me think that Virgin only wants very fit people to cruise with them based on the lightweight seating.
I have booked on both Resilient and Valiant late 2022 and 2023. One is a transatlantic which I love. Enjoyed your comments they were very insightful and on point. The food and fitness aspects offered are very attractive to me plus I can't wait to see the new ship designs.

12:38 I know what he means about the importance of music. I was at a club a few years ago and the place was packed and so was the dance floor. The music was excellent but then suddenly the DJ plays Marilyn Manson followed by a dozen heavy metal songs. I am not kidding, about 2/3rds of the people left the club in 20 minutes. That was a lot of paying customers walking out the door because the DJ was a metal head and all before 11pm.

You started off by saying they're a brand new cruise line, they're still working out the kinks, cut them some slack and then trash them for things they're still working on. But i get that it's your opinion. One thing, there IS a pizza restaurant on board, called 'The Pizza Place' and is open till 2 or 3 am. The Social Club Diner does hot dogs, burgers, and the most amazing 'instagram worthy' mega shakes, floats staked high with cookies, cakes, frosting, and candy, pie, etc. Thats one of the things i really liked about the ship, was there are lots of small little venues around the ship, rather than in 1 main dining hall etc. I really don't think it's perceived as a party ship, but maybe its been marketed different. You didn't have the Sex Therapst Show? It was very funny!!! Maybe the changed some things after the UK trips. I guess Americans are too prudish for that. I have only been on 2 other cruises abut was on one of the 4 day trips in the UK and will be going back on Virgin next year.
You would think that they would have had people cruise on other lines to take note on the simple but important aspects of cruising. Hopefully, there was an after cruise survey.
I truly believe one of these major lines need to definitely scoop you up and make you the highest ranked general manager on a ship, Idk what the proper term is, maybe officer, under the captain of coarse but man! All your ideas are on point 👌🏽
What you had was Fruit de Mer. A plateau de fruits de mer (French for 'plate of the fruits of the sea') is a seafood dish of raw and cooked shellfish served cold on a platter, usually on a bed of ice. You didn't know you were eatin' so fancy, did you?
It would have been nice to be offered warm steamed crab legs.shrimps ; the demographic has changed since its' sailing from Miami ; more cruisers from this region don'r prefer your plateau de fruits de mer; so yes, he's entitled to his opinion ; agree with him for $70 better serve it my way!

Hi Jay! I doubt that I will be booking with Virgin anytime soon. There is something about the somewhat ambiguous vibe that just doesn't call to me. That's why variety is good. We all get to choose a good fit. Thanks for another thorough and honest review. 😊

got off the ship last friday and had a very good time but all of your complaints are completely logical and i agree with all of them.
I think you did a great job Justin. I am not a fan of the style of Virgin. Healthy food, workouts, etc. I am fit and healthy, but on a cruise, I am there to eat, finish out the soft serve ice cream machines, drink, and be rowdy a little with friends. But I am not a college aged person either, so Carnival is not for me either. I appreciate all the edits and production time for this video. But, hey, I think you should have beat the Captain at Badketball. Pull out some of those Harlem Globetrottrrs tricks. Lol

You don't have to have a healthy cruise at all! It's all on there, all the calories, sugar, fat, alcohol, thats all I ate and drank for 4 days!! It's just not presented front and centre and the headline options. The coffee bar will give you free bags of cookies and pastries everytime you walk past it if you want to
We better not be on the same cruise, I ate so much soft serve on one Carnival cruise I actually got a freezer burned spot on my tongue! Yup, a cruise is time for gastronomic debauchery for me.
Nothing wrong with working out…went on a 3 week trip to Southern Africa still found a gym to workout in a few times a week…don’t lose your gains bruh
I'm intrigued by Virgin but apprehensive because it seems mostly fitness related. When I'm in vacation the last thing I want to think about is fitness. Lol
The fitness is there for the novelty, it is not required. You will not be judged at all if you do not participate, I have no desire to exercise at all when I am at sea but it will not stop me from enjoying this ship. Hey, watch other people work out while you sip champagne and call it a day, that's what I will be doing!
But there is so much space given over to the fitness area. Who wants to hang out in a health club when they are not using it?
@@jeffreyanderson1851 I do see them quietly scaling this back in the future to free up some of that space for something else. From what I have heard already this area is hardly used for how many it holds.

Going to give Virgin a shot in February..Saw Ben and Davids video on the Scarlet Lady, so I have to go check it out..Hopefully by then they will have the 'newness' kinks ironed out..Thanks for the informative videos J!
What you also need to take into account is that Ben and David travelled on Virgin in an up market cabin and didn't pay a penny for it.it kinda skews perspectives when you are on a freebie.

I came back to this video after my cruise, and I have to say I agree that the DJ was a huge disappointment after all the hype about having a great venue for the dancing. Personally, I *loved* the food and most of the entertainment. The focus on fitness and wellness was really refreshing, and, for me a much needed reboot.
I just came back from my second cruise on the Scarlet Lady, March 2022, and the dance parties were vastly improved.
We got $300 drink tab credit included in our cruise, which was fantastic :) but we would never drink $600 worth of drinks and $300 is the minimum amount that you can add to your drink credit. So im guessing that we will have to pay for drinks out of whatever we put on our onboard credit after we have gone through the $300

Weirdly enough I wasn't enthusiastic about Virgin cruises till now as I'm normally a Princess Cruiser, but after several points that you hate and that I like, also knowing they have changed things because of reviews like this since, I def will be looking at cruising with them next. Thanks for the heads up.

I have not been on this new Spirit cruise line but I have been on Celebrity, Princess, Royal Caribbean, Carnival and Norwegian …. a total of 27 cruises and enjoyed all but one. I think this information shared was very honest and worthwhile. I heard comments today regarding things I’d like to know. Valuable. Thankyou

Ignore the negativity, we went on it in August and it’s our new favourite cruise line.
It’s a classy ship on par with Silverseas. We had a fabulous cruise!

He is nick picking. Lots of cruise ships are going to have problems. Youre not staying at a 5 star luxury hotel.

@@karilankford7523 EXACTLY, there are plenty of people who do not want that, nor be around it for their holiday. Many people want to take a holiday just to get away from all of that. There is a market for this type of cruise and the crafty TA will figure out how to sell it. So many people I know simply would never consider a cruise because there are no "adult only" cruise ships currently on the market. There are tons of dual income no kids people with the money wanting to go on a cruise but the options now are either a cruise for people who are in retirement or people traveling with kids, there is not really an in-between.
@@davidcoker7989 Every RC cruise ship and even Carnival have adult only areas so I am not sure what you mean when you say there is no adult only areas on other cruise ships. We have no children and don’t want to be around a lot of other peoples and have never had any problems feeling like we had our own space for adults while cruising.
@@danasandoval624 Thank you for pointing out how that read, I edited the comment as I am aware of the adult only areas on RC and Carnival as well as all the other lines however a full ship over the age of 18 is something that will be a selling point as well. My comment did not convey that properly.
@@davidcoker7989 no problem, I would love adult cruises only but from all the videos I have seen Virgin just isn’t for us. We love RC, the large ships are the ones I prefer, even though I am in my 60’s I love to zip line and rock climb and even tried flow rider (main word :: tried) but also like just to sit around the pool in the adult only part which is usually beautiful. Have a great cruise whenever you go again!!

Best cruise line out there, and it is really funny to see self proclaimed "cruisers" trashing it on youtube. The whole point of the line is to provide a great cruise for non-cruise fans. Go on VV. I agree; I am going in a few months and can't wait. This is a high-end cruise line, not a cruise line like any other. Those that are negatively commenting are not meant for a cruise line like this and are better off going to the more casual and less expensive cruise companies.

I was contemplating going on this ship as a solo cruiser....but after watching a few videos of some of the content creators on the first voyage, that definitely confirmed my decision NOT to sail this cruise line/ship. I am a major extrovert....but I just didn't think that the vibe I gathered (Vegas meets Spring Break.....on crack) was not for me.
Thanks for the info. I have watched several other videos about Virgin cruises and had already decided this is definitely not the cruise for us. We love the shows and all the variety of things to do in RC. I want to eat all the so called bad stuff when I am on vacation so don’t try to deprive me of my fried food, it could get ugly.
I love RC as well. But I also love their sister line Celebrity. Virgin is trying so hard to be hip and cool. Everyone looked so bored sitting around with nothing to do during the day.
@@evecarrington562 we haven’t tried Celebrity I will take a look at them. RC always has so much to do on the ship or if you prefer you can also do nothing. The odd acts and even the decor on Virgin just was not at all appealing. I wonder if there is a big enough market of cruisers that will continue to cruise with them after one cruise, that is what keeps the line afloat, repeat cruisers. I just can’t see even going on one of their cruises let alone returning.
@@danasandoval624 Celebrity is RC's premium line. I love RC cruise line and I won't sail with anyone else. Royal and Celebrity both are about a quality experience with great ships and a fantastic staff. I've never had a bad Royal or Celebrity cruise. If you really want a laid back experience with few to no kids and no crowds, try Celebrity.
Sailed in January. Best cruise ever and I travel and cruise a lot.

I've only recently heard about Virgin Voyages and was excited to hear about a 18+ cruise ship, since I don't have children and prefer not to be around children on vacation. However, I'm very much a laid back cruise type of person - sit at the pool and sip a drink, have a nice dinner, relax, maybe see a show, and then get a lot of sleep at night. I'm definitely not looking for a party atmosphere, which is what I *think* Virgin might be going for. Either way, your opinions were wonderful and really helped me learn a lot more about this ship and cruise line!

These ships need to hire you for big $$$ to teach them few things. I’d have an issue with the same things. After watching several videos on this ship, I really don’t have any desire to waste my money to find out how I’d like it. Doing our first cruise since COVID-19 in a month on Bliss. I hope NCL/LA port will be organized and we’re not frustrated by the time we get on the ship. Cheers to you! 🥂

You’re nuts bro! Our cruise was outstanding in every way. We had an amazing suite, our rockstar agent was always available and got us everything we asked for. Highly recommend Virgin Voyage. The food, ship, entertainment and service was top notch.
This video came out almost a full year before you commented. It makes sense that the issues he spoke about in the review are not a problem anymore.

Yeah DJ would make me run if the music wasn't done correctly, the entertainment looks boring as I like to see full production shows since I lived worked in Las Vegas Nv 7 yrs I know what shows are like, also working on 2 major cruiselines we know ...virgin has alot to learn yet and I'm sure they will figure out what works/what doesn't. Again Amazing job as always. Love your presentations.

Excellent unbiased review, subscribed. My wife and I will be going on back-to-back cruises on Scarlet Lady in late June. After 30+ cruises, this will be our first on Virgin. Sounds like it's going to be a unique adventure.
Thanks for the review and please do another video talking about the room and the seating options around the cruise ship. I saw another review and the seating and decor makes me think that Virgin only wants very fit people to cruise with them based on the lightweight seating.

I have booked on both Resilient and Valiant late 2022 and 2023. One is a transatlantic which I love. Enjoyed your comments they were very insightful and on point. The food and fitness aspects offered are very attractive to me plus I can't wait to see the new ship designs.

I'm with you when it comes to crab and lobster. It needs to be hot or at least warm...But never cold. And yes, the DJ has got to be on point.

12:38 I know what he means about the importance of music. I was at a club a few years ago and the place was packed and so was the dance floor. The music was excellent but then suddenly the DJ plays Marilyn Manson followed by a dozen heavy metal songs. I am not kidding, about 2/3rds of the people left the club in 20 minutes. That was a lot of paying customers walking out the door because the DJ was a metal head and all before 11pm.
I'm not going to bash the cruise...😃

You started off by saying they're a brand new cruise line, they're still working out the kinks, cut them some slack and then trash them for things they're still working on. But i get that it's your opinion. One thing, there IS a pizza restaurant on board, called 'The Pizza Place' and is open till 2 or 3 am. The Social Club Diner does hot dogs, burgers, and the most amazing 'instagram worthy' mega shakes, floats staked high with cookies, cakes, frosting, and candy, pie, etc. Thats one of the things i really liked about the ship, was there are lots of small little venues around the ship, rather than in 1 main dining hall etc.
I really don't think it's perceived as a party ship, but maybe its been marketed different. You didn't have the Sex Therapst Show? It was very funny!!! Maybe the changed some things after the UK trips. I guess Americans are too prudish for that. I have only been on 2 other cruises abut was on one of the 4 day trips in the UK and will be going back on Virgin next year.
