Very true, because these games are full of cheats, and the Devs do nothing about it. Rumor is that Devs actually make the cheats. Who else can guarantee that you won't be caught by the anti-cheat? If not a Dev, there would be lag time between the anti-cheat being updated and the cheat being updated, creating a window where you could be caught.

I'm not prepared to say DICE is redeemed at all. I can recognize the effort that has been ongoing to make the game better, but I will not forget about the differences in the core ideas that this team brought to 2042 in comparison to the rest of the franchise. The fact that it launched without a scoreboard is so....pathetic still. 5 months is what it took them for *just* that. A basic function like an FOV option. IMO. I think 2042 now is fun. I play it daily. LVL 187 atm. Over 1k hours. Part of the reason of course, there's nothing else close to it. I got used to the specialists and after playing a few rounds BF 4, I felt I missed them. Change is always hard. But there is no denying that it launched completely 1-2 years too early. And that still bites. Also 6 maps is...ridiculous. 2042 design doc's hinted at a much better, darker game. With new level of destruction etc. We didn't get any of that. I mean most maps still have sunshine and all. It feels more like arenas than war. BF 1 really felt so visceral and brutal. I miss that. The next BF will make or break the series.

Unplayable on Xbox Series X and I know for a fact that I'm not the only one having this issue.
It's not a ventilation issue, it's not a cache storage issue, its not a defective console, it's a BF2042 issue.
Not a single one of the other games in my library has this problem EXCEPT another one that is "coincidentally" also made by Dice/EA: Star Wars Battlefront II. Happens much less on that, so I bear with it. I can usually get through 5-6 matches of Heroes vs Villains, or go through a whole week of playing without the game crashing. So I'm not too bothered.
But the fact that BF2042 cannot go more than 1 full match of conquest before causing my Xbox to straight up just crash and shut down, is pathetic. Everyday that I have played the game, it has happened, without exception. I am a huge fan of the franchise, and I can acknowledge the many improvements that they made to the game, many of which you mentioned Levelcap, such as the hybrid adaptation of the class system, however the game is quite frankly, unplayable for me after 2 years, and at some point I grow tired of giving them any credit at all for it. From a gameplay perspective the game has significantly improved, that much is true. What still prevents me from recommending the game to anyone is the amount of technical bugs that have plagued the game since launch. We have not had a season without some sort of bug that severely affects gameplay (black screen post end of game on S6 being the latest example). If the game was in a better more solid technical foundation I would likely recommend it to all.
Also I hope the next BF game finally (FINALLY) jumps to the future and re-engages with the idea that was presented in BF2142. This time in fact with Zampella on board and with the learnings from Titanfall series, I can see a magnificent Battlefield /Titanfall hybrid be released into the public to be the end-all of futuristic military FPS.

This WAS supposed to be that definitive future battlefield, I don't see them trying that setting again for a while unfortunately because they completely tarnished the idea of a "modern futuristic Battlefield game". And even if every single bug was fixed, I couldn't recommend the game to anyone unless they're into the most generic Fps Games because this game now literally has a third of the content bf4, bf1, and even bf5 had at launch (not counting their expansive dlc) And gameplay/destruction features absent that have dated back to bf1942. And don't say portal makes up for it because its reused assets thrown into the shit 2042 engine, slop.

I've been playing since launch. The game is definitely vastly improved from launch and I consider it now to be a good game. That said, I definitely feel the lack of actual new content vs the older game. We are still missing platoons and community management tools (group persistent server management) which are quite important in my opinion to be able to keep portal servers alive and properly policed for cheaters.

I'm not going to celebrate improvement upon utter dog shit. I think my entire platoon, including me did what we never imagined we'd do... Turned 2042 off and prayed Call of Duty would be good. Was always a Battlefield fanboy but when Battlefield became CoD, CoD does it better.

@LevelCap I wanted to know your thoughts on the side-to-side stepping while firing garbage that goes on in the game. You can do it with minimal impact to your accuracy which I think is ridiculous. I don't remember it being a huge movement that happened in the past BF games but it encouraged at least crouching before shooting to improve accuracy. My thoughts for the next Battlefield are to make that more impactful on accuracy and also to bring back peeking. Your thoughts?

One is sure I have is the gameplay like running around or dealing with recoil feels too unnatural and stiff, spam look left and right on 2042 and BFV and see how much the gun sways around your screen, it just felt like battlefield when you looked like you had trouble carrying your heavy weapon with all the action going on around you which was very immersive and was very convincing, no soldier would have their gun exactly in the same position everytime no matter what. But so much of this game on a technical level is beyond impressive

    (Long Winded Rant)
I have been an avid BF player since Battlefield 2: Modern Combat and have played every game since that. BF3 being my personal favorite and is when/how I discovered your RUclips channel when you were using Symthic to make weapon reviews.
It is my personal opinion Dice has never had a successful launch, EVER, there has always been bugs and balancing issues though by the first year most are usually fixed. That being said that was half the fun watching the game grow and be fixed, remembering how things use to be by year 3 of the title.
    Having returned to 2042 recently these are my current opinions on the state of the game and would like to think most BF Veterans would agree;
They tried to compete with Call Of Duty and failed miserably alienating most of their player base in the process, I can not fault them for this because money is money and suggestions were forced onto the teams due to greed from stock holders & corporate suites that probably had never played.
    - Skill based gameplay has been stripped from the game with most weapons having minimal recoil and an abundance of launchers that lock onto vehicles, ETC.
    - Team based gameplay has been stripped with the removal of classes. In example I can be Medic with ammo boxes and the ability to destroy vehicles needing no one on my team.
    - TTK to me feels so fast so in the high player count servers with the abundance of people camping trying to PTO becomes just a horde movement game style
    - Rush seems to have been forgotten about it is the only game mode in portal that you can not use the rules editor on and IMO was the most competitive game mode (I would love to be able to edit the arming time, defuse time and overall amount of time till detonation, yet Its impossible...RIP Squad Rush)
    - Bots/Unlocks it seems 50% of the current community would rather feel like badass' killing bots getting unlocks then actually playing and possibly losing thus dividing the player base into to many servers. (I fail to understand the love of servers with boosted bullet velocity aswell if you want to play COD go play COD)
    These are my biggest complaints, I could go on, but its nothing that hasn't been said before so I'll list a few things I do enjoy;
    - Portal is honestly pretty impressive even with some of its short comings
    - Large selection of weapons, gadgets and equipment is really nice and adds alot of verity in addition to the "personalities" of the charactors I just wish it was more class based and more restricted
    - Ability to edit your weapon on the fly mid game is...neat... but is a love hate situation with me and I feel would be better suited with a cooldown or crate you call in
    - The Call In system is also nice, but often forgotten about or over used IMO and I feel could have been implemented better.
Most of what I listed will be unable to be fixed in 2042 due to the code and how the game operates, I just hope the next title is a true return to form for dice, so long as you stay true to your fans (remembering that the most vocal players are usually the worst and just here for a short time not a good time) and love what you do you will succeed even if it doesn't create a Hype train at launch it will continue to be played for years to come. If you took the time to read all of this and agree thank you, it means I didnt waste my time writing it. See you on the BattleField friends!

I stuck with it relatively regularly for the past two years and like you mentioned there’s been so many improvements some have launch. As a person who got the game on release and even played a considerable amount of the game (even through the multiple bugs) I can say that the game is finally how it should've been on release 🤣
Don't get me wrong... the amount of work they put into the game is undeniable. And i've always kept in the back of my mind that most of the veteran devs left the studio during the making of 2042. That's a large set back for DICE as they had to onboard a bunch of new faces to get them up to speed with the Frostbite Engine. I can hop on the game and have a good time playing it but not for long periods of time. But that's probably due to the fact that i'm likely the only person in my friend group to still play the game. Most of my friends were turned off from the start.
First impressions are everything to most people. You can still find someone talking crap about No Man's Sky but they know nothing about the game's updates LMAO!

Needed more maps and more interesting game modes. This game could have really benefited from a "Titan" mode similar to 2142 or added game modes like BF1 with the armored train or blimp. Also, being able to choose what maps you get to play instead of being forced to deal with RNG or having to play a limited time playlist.
I'm mostly fine with the specialists and weapons as they are now but there just isn't enough variety map and game mode wise unless we look to Portal and those servers for me have been mostly XP farms or mostly empty.

Great Video. You say it how it is. I am a day one player. Its been a rollercoaster. I genuinely love 2042…. For what it is. I honestly think it’s a better game then people say it is. Even in map design. I have tons of fun. I love the action and the chaos. However first impressions are so important and they need to come out strong next time. Even though i like 2042 I’ve been disappointed each time i was hyped for something. The events, the hourglass rework, hoping for more than one map per season. I don’t hate the specialiste within a class system but a campaign would have gone a long way. At least some cinematics. We get amazing trailers and it falls flat. I think There is ton of fun to be had. It feels like battlefield to me but I know it can be so much more. Its the best franchise. They need to show the world next time. Ot is not COD, Apex or fortnite. Its battlefield. I hope they stay true to that. They can make a shit load of money but staying BF. And selling BF ish skins and what not. It will be a win win. It would so nice to finish this off with a heavy drop of content. Maps. Just maps. 2 final seasons of 3 maps each to close it off and move on. I would be ok with that. BTW I really enjoy 128 players much more than 64. On 2042 maps. But a well crafted 64 player map with atmosphere and destruction is what the fans want. They should go back to basics and play it safe next time. And a proper launch.

I happened to be one of the people who preordered the game and have stuck with it all the way through, and maybe you could say i was just trying to get my moneys worth but this game no doubt had a very disappointing launch. Now what they have managed pull through has for sure impressed me. Yes the one thing that always bugged me was just the variety of content at launch but i was very intrigued by the narrative of the game. It was a different and almost realistic take on wars in the not too distant future. Fighting for resources instead of political agendas. I was a huge fan of BF3 & 4 and was just tired of the WW2 game genre and wanted battlefield to continue doing a modern setting in a game. I was open to the idea of specialist and I think today they are way more balanced and useful than they were at launch. I do wish there were more maps that was a let down but they way have reacted the last year has been very good and I'm enjoying the game a lot today with the variety of skins, equipment, weapons, and vehicles. I hope the next battlefield just really brings everyone together and get back to why we play these games

Now, here we are 2 years later with BF 2042. Well, we all know that launch was a travesty -- and the fact that they made it feel less like a BF game then every before just added salt to the wound. Happy to say though, after 'patient gaming' the last two years...picked it up for $11 and my my....it's actually a great experience! They added joystick capabilities, so I'm back to dusting off my helo skills in Conquest 64/128, and ignoring the 'operators', it's a genuinely SOLID BF experience with those map updates and other.

I really loved Battlefield 1. Enjoyed it at launch, then they added a bunch of maps, weapons, and the frontlines game mode. Progression all seemed pretty reasonable with the exception of a couple of unlocks that are incredibly tough. It was both polished and feature-complete. Visibility was reasonable and I enjoyed the vehicle/infantry balance too.
Battlefield 5 had that stupid attrition mechanic which isn't fun and I could never see anyone, and 2042 had the whole specialists and terrible maps at launch. It seems to me that the size of the development team keeps ballooning and that probably makes it very difficult for them to iterate on map design or game balance. Hopefully that curse doesn't strike again and they can repeat the success of BF 3, 4, and 1 which are all excellent.

Just watching the clips from BF4 in your video with epic building collapsing and explosions, it shows how far they stepped away from their identity. They relied to much on the tornados as the epic experience but it seemed more like a gemic that got old really fast. I just want a BF in modern times with modern maps. As opposed to have the city in the back ground, make them the maps with destruction. Stick to their way and not follow the battle royale structure.

The mix of vehicles to infantry is totally off, basically forcing almost everyone into infantry because they weren't fast enough to get into a vehicle. Whatever the next battlefield is, I hope it captures the classic magic of the working as a large team and getting into a large group of your buddies to play on the same team. Basically limiting the game to 4 of your friends to play on the same team or same game is heart crushing.

Jumped on BF4 again after many years. Aged like fine wine. Battlefield's fall from grace is so frustrating in particular because they HAVE the blueprints to make a masterpiece, but DICE is for some reason keen on trend chasing after everyone else...

I don't know... I jumped on six months ago and it seemed like it was just a bunch of people in wingsuits tossing C4 on noobs.

picked it up after i left it over a year ago frustrated. i had more fun on reading reddit comments about how horrible it is. i felt ripped off. now i really enjoy it. it has become a fun game. i would like to have more maps. they could just use more different spots of the existing maps for deathmatch. i dont understand why they wont do that. that would cost nothing. i fear that they dont put out more content, because it isnt profitable. i think they owe their customers. i spent a hundred euros on it.

Still TICKED that i spent 100 bucks at launch for a game I really, truly, believed in. I wont go back… I just can’t…

100k concurrent from all regions is extremely low though. BF4 had 85k just in NA like 4 years after release

I keep mentioning it, Super Animal Royale has an Archive for their previous season passes.
If bf2042 allows people to pick and choose previous season passes that they missed out, that would be cool.

For me the issue is that the people which invested 100+€ for the first seasons wasted their money for the seasonpass without any chance to refund all their money or at least the diffence between the normal and the 100+€ version. Normally with that castastropic release version everybody should had an opportuinity to get their money back and than maybe buy the game later after many fixes. But EA redueced the team and they they back than know that the game will never get this many sells again with a second sell

I bought the game used for $22 at the start of season one. I've played the game at least five hours a week ever since. Its not my favorite BF game but it turned into a pretty good one.

You know, one thing that you can count on DICE, at least if there's any consolation, is that they listen to feedback. This isn't like a redemption, but you won't get that in COD.
