I decided to take a look into the gunner stations provided on all of the Battlefield 2042 vehicles to try and learn what works and what doesn't. I've had a lot of fun with these, and I wanted to share my experience and any tips I developed along the way!
Mainly I found that more people should be using these! Dice made most vehicles have 4 seats and you can support your armour really successfully by participating in these seats.
In this video I provide a breakdown of the damage numbers for a lot of the passenger seat options, details on where you should use your weapons and also provide some tips in order to get the most out of being a secondary or tertiary gunner! Come for the tips and stay for the sick clips :P

I love being a passenger in a tank, saves you the bother of driving, there is nothing worse than jumping in a tank and the driver sits at the back of the map even when you are losing, it's so frustrating , great video - thank you
I have no patience for vehicle campers, they are completely wasting the vehicle. Not only are they sitting back getting barely any kills but since they won't die the entire game, they rob anyone else from the opportunity to do something beneficial with that vehicle too. As long as you have a good driver. So many don't know what they're doing.
@@magnum_commander You just have to hard carry them :P It's possible, in a lot of these games I ended up with more kills than the drivers. Just focus on protecting your tank from C5. 70% of players only use C5 so if you can deal with those threats, you can keep your run going for a long time.
@@marzipandan767 Yeah I've lost count of how many bad drivers I've saved from themselves. I still had loads of fun doing it though. Most of them probably don't appreciate a good passenger. 😕
@@marzipandan767 Depends on what the driver is doing, IMO. Vehicle campers tend to be insufferable, but it is nice when you have something like a maul TOR sitting back and hammering enemy vehicles while equipped with HMGs to deal with TGMs and infantry in the distance. A good M1 or T28 with STAFF shells can also be nice to have sitting in the wings as long as they're close enough to make use of target designations.
Using EMP grenade on infantry, actually makes them unable to detonate C4 for the duration of the distruption. Super useful.

Yeah, some people were pointing this out in the comments. It's a neat interaction that would be great if Dice let us know about this. Apparently, if you hit a Lis who is using her TGM with EMP grenades, it will knock her out of the guidance system.
So, it does have some uses on infantry

Drive in reverse in the MAV when the 60mm is equipped to give your gunner better visibility
It's also good for the driver to gtfo when need be
That is a really good tip! Usually, the view with the 60mm on the MAV is pretty limited since it sits at the back of the vehicle. The only downside is you'll likely be taking shots from behind and consequently taking extra damage, but the MAV can take it. Thanks for the tip!
Being a fighting vehicle passenger is my absolute favorite role. Nothing worse that hopping in a seat to find the foul volley load out.....except maybe the outback driver. Nothing better than bringin' that 60mm pain though! You're right, so satisfying when you find your range feelers!

I really enjoy using the 60mm flak pod, especially for the RAM given the other choices it has in that slot. I'd pick the flak over the canister and volley pod on the RAM as the driver and 2nd seat can handle infantry already.
Depending on if you're using the howitzer or the missiles on the RAM, the flak might be the only weapon station that can take care of choppers reliably as the 3rd seat AA has poor range and it just ends up always getting flared. The RAM is great at doing hit and runs on other vehicles as you're able to dump your missiles and speed off but the choppers are some of the few vehicles that can chase you. Because of that, I've found that the attack choppers tend to play quite aggressive against the RAM and frequently chase it. The flak very quickly takes care of them as they like to fly right behind you when they're chasing you which makes them an easy target for the flak pod. By the time they realize the amount of damage they've taken it's too late for them as you can kill them quite fast if all your shots land.
That being said, without a squad it is very difficult to a) get people to hop in your RAM and b) learn to actually switch seats. So what ends up happening a lot without a squad is that I get killed by a chopper because I was getting chased by it and my 2nd seat gunner refused to change seats to the flak which left me trying to drive and evade the chopper in vain. A lot of times I end up trying to seat swap, pop thermal flare, and use the ADS to try to kill the choppers all while my gunner remains in the 2nd seat doing nothing.
That's fair! Given the limited pod choices in the ram, the 60mm flak pod is much more appealing. I think I have the canister equipped since to me the ram is a hit and run kind of tool, so it works for that kind of playstyle. But I could definitely see trading it out for the flak.
I've seen some really good players with the Rockets completely shutting down choppers. I can't say that I am very good with it, but it seems to work for them. Oh yeah it absolutely chunks them if you can get it to hit!
I noticed while playing that the RAM especially having teammates would make the vehicle amazing, while having an empty RAM is significantly weaker.
An thing to add about stealing the drivers seat of a tank:
It can cause the person who originally had the tank to become salty. For example, they won't heal you if they have the option to, they'll abandon you quickly, they'll throw smoke in front of you to block your view., or at times they'll place C5 on the vehicle so when an enemy tries to take you down you're already covered in explosives.
Any previous team work that you had with the driver is gone. If they get another tank, you can bet your ass they won't give up that driver seat unless they hide behind the map where no one is around so they can do some repairs but with cautious eyes looking for enemies and teammates.
It's just sad to see happen. Like, it's very disrespectful. It doesn't happen to me too often, but when it does it's infuriating.
Great video Marzipan Dan, I think you hit the nail on the head. Do not steal friendly vehicles and be an asset to your driver. SPOT SPOT SPOT SPOT. I love the 60MM Pod as that thing is massive fun dropping on infantry and vehicles alike.
There is nothing worse than a friendly stealing, since there is nothing you can do to prevent it. It baffles me how few people use the spot function, it is so easy to do and is just free assists if you don't get the kill.
The 60mm pod might be the best thing that they added to the game. I hope that they don't catch on to how good it is and nerf it.

Just a minor thing to note, but regarding the incendiary 40mm launcher and by extension, other incendiaries, they deal damage through walls, which can help deal with people behind cover

@marzipandan767 Pretty sure it's a bug since it was a thing since BF4 but it still exists now so maybe it's intentional that they go through things. Not sure

@@FrostiFurWhyler They'll probably call it a bug and patch it out, like they did with the poison arrows in BF4. The only good thing about those arrows was that they could damage through walls to deal with campers, otherwise you were better off with any other arrow.

Great video as always, especially those final sections on Passenger & Driver tips. A lot of players could do with getting a coffee & sitting down to take note. It's another major piece of utility that players can bring, being able to pop out and support -- especially when you just need to tip the balance of a vehicle vs vehicle fight with say... an EMP Grenade? :D
Just me, when I'm the passenger I primarily concern myself with watching for C5 plays & AT Mines as the drivers as usually preoccupied with the primary targets. Being able to rotate & look the way my driver isn't (I think) is a massive help and boosts the survivability of the vehicle, and as you say you should always throw yourself on the pyre if necessary to save yours. It's just another example of cracking team play that isn't rewarded on the scoreboard but absolutely swings matches one way or the other. Vehicles are the MVPs of BF, especially when crewed up. It's why I enjoy 'specialising' in taking them down so much.
As a funny, I have recently discovered that Dozer is one hell of a passenger wingman. Getting close then popping out with your shield / EMP / C5 is insanely effective! Thanks as ever for the cracking vid, looking forward to the next one!

Thanks for your support and help as always Timeless! I definitely think that is the best part of the video, but I felt like I should also break down the weapons for those who weren't familiar. I love it when I have players do that for me. When you pop out and get a tank kill it also feels awesome, so I thoroughly recommend it! I've told you man, I'm a completely addicted smoker and from some of your recent videos you are coming around to the smoke grenade too :P
I think when people say 'X vehicle is overpowered' they really are just coming up against fully crewed vehicles that naturally can dominate uncoordinated teams. As an individual it is very difficult to be really dominant in vehicle.

It really is very important since 3/4 classes are almost always loaded up with C5 ready to blow you up.

The EMP grenade can be useful against infantry - it prevents them from triggering C4 (which is honestly one of the most common ways vehicles die). I've used it to decent effect when playing with a buddy before
Oh man I didn't know that. I know that it can detonate C5 but I didn't know it stopped players using it. That's kind of a neat interaction that actually makes sense. Thanks for the tip!

The 20mm canister shot on the LATV absolutely shreds helos
Most of the time I agree but it is inconsistent. From what I gather from people putting in the research on reddit, it seems like you get more damage by not hitting your shots centrally and instead targeting around the vehicle.

great video as always, and matching my gameplay style as well! note on the kinetic grenades since it's my favorite pod: they are surprisingly not as bouncy as it feels at first, if you throw them a little lower than you think you need, they usually drag along the ground and land where you need them, allowing for precise kills. and also flushing the point with them is quite effective, just make sure to not throw all four of them at the same angle and disperse them a bit

When it comes to minigun and canister shot cannons there's one often overlooked benefit - it's a really, and I mean really good counter to Lis missiles. Minigun probably more so, and if your gunner is good, you are saved from a lot of extra heat and potentially from wasting your APS onto it.
Absolutely! I still feel like a lot of none Lis players don't know that the Lissiles can be shot down. I would absolutely agree that the minigun is the king for that.

Only halway through and this is, as always, so incredibly informative. Thankyou for your hardwork. Keep up the good work. I'm going to give being a passenger a go more often, while also keeping an eye for good opportunitiesvto jump out and hit the enemy with a landmine or two.

This is so true. I can't understand why most matches I'm in, I see tanks or other vehicles with just the driver, and am able to jump in as a gunner. I actually enjoy being the next pair of eyes, always swiveling my view to make sure no enemies are getting close for the c5 kill or look for launchers.
It's sad that it is so common. Being a gunner is a really good time. You can have some great games just cruising around with your team.

Great video. It seems to me on PS5 we don't usually have many solo drivers (unless camper) which is good. Couldn't agree more with spotting, it's crazy how effective 3D spotting is in the game, and so many players simply don't spam the ping button. And yes, mortar pod is the GOAT hands down, and the incendiary on the CAV is my go to. I always stay on the vehicle when I see those 2 equipped!
That must be nice. I would say 70 percent of the time when I am driving, I'm going solo...
I know right! I spam the hell out of it, and I swear it's the only reason I end up so high on the leaderboard consistently.
As I mentioned, I really didn't like the Incendiary GL before this. Getting a bunch of hit markers and no kills was very frustrating, but then I had a few good runs, and something about them just started working for me. Now I'm pretty happy when I see them equipped.

Love your videos man. They're very insightful, creative, yet also practical. I've picked up on a lot of this "etiquette" already before watching your videos (and also make sure to thank good drivers and passengers) and it would be awesome if more BF2042 players did the same.
A game like this probably has many people who sit down and put their brain on autopilot (does the game have SBMM?), but it's the fair few players that play well and abide by these unspoken rules that make the game enjoyable for everyone else.

As far as I am aware, there is no skill-based matchmaking, I don't think there ever has been in battlefield.

I love the kinetic grenades! For me I aim them at players feet to reduce the bounce and get an easy kill or you can use them to hit targets at longer ranges that the 40mm grenades can’t reach
I could see their potential, their damage is really high for a grenade, but I just couldn't get them to work. It could be just bad luck on my part and the fact that I play Conquest more than Breakthrough so the infantry are much less bunched up. If you have any tips to help me get better with them, I would really appreciate it!

As someone who enjoys driving the vehicles, A good passenger is rare these days. It’s easy to tell when you have someone who knows why they are doin in your gunner seats. I mainly use MAV and CAV so I’m not shooting anything myself I’m completely reliant on my gunners to protect us from what I can’t get away from. I appreciate all of you here who use the gunner seats even if you aren’t amazing at it. Ily all for the effort and trust alone lol
I don't enjoy MAV because as you said you are completely dependent on your passengers, and I find it too frustrating. Good MAV drivers, and more so, MAV teams, can completely tilt the scales in their team favour. The CAV I enjoy because if it's close-range grenade deployables and APS, which let me interact a little more with the game.
I completely respect people who have the patience to drive these, so from the rest of the BF community thank you :)
Excellent video and very in depth I'm usually the driver or pilot but I do try to have a good set up for passengers and if I'm near a friendly vehicle I will sometimes try to help. I also could not agree more with don't steal friendly vehicles since I never do but often get people try to steal mine and sometimes they succeed. The really annoying part is every time this has happened they're useless with the vehicle and die very fast and never listen to me spamming get out. The only steal that is acceptable is a steal off enemies which is always fun 😁

It's frustrating when a friendly does it, since there is literally nothing you can do. You are right though; most thieves are kind of bad with vehicles and will die immediately. I'm always about hijacking enemy vehicles!

I honestly love the incendiary grenades on vehicles. I got my best vehicle kill streak ever with those things just spamming them into the building we were attacking
I think they can be particularly strong on breakthrough, but I mostly play conquest and, as such, don't get as much out of them. I hate that they don't replenish as you use them. Having to waste rounds to get ready for the next engagement is such a weird design choice on DICEs part.

I lovvvveee being a passenger in really anything and using the 50mm cannon on the MAV or the AT+AA missiles on the EBLC have to be my favorite
Recently I ran with a guy, I was the 2nd seat, kept jumping out to repair, it was so nice to get that thank you because of all the rockets coming his way, we ran the entire time from start to finish of that game, my best score ever, he was a great driver and I did all that I could.. it’s so frustrating to get in to vehicles where the driver parks in middle of action and does nothing and you die fast or when you repair them they race away leaving you behind… great vid! Would love to see a video break down of each vehicle and what should be mounted as best in slot. Show it in the load out screen, not in action.
Additional tips as someone who mainly only guns for others:
1. If you get out of the vehicle, try to mantle onto it as quickly as possible for some moving repairs. This also helps prevent being left behind, since people tend to do that for whatever reason. Be ready to get back in the vehicle as soon as you get shot.
2. Keep the minigun spinning.
3. Don't get greedy and let your weapon overheat. It's always better to spend 1 second to cool down than it is to wait 3-4 seconds for the overheat.
4. Do NOT use the T28 Canopy Cutter skin. It has 2 little trees and a bush which block gunner view.
5. Flak damage is inconsistent because you were directly hitting aircraft. The primary damage from the flak cannon is the fragments. Regardless, you're correct, and it's an underwhelming option. Random fun fact: in WW2 Hitler said that 9/10 allied bombers will be brought down before they reach their target. The actual result was 1/10.
6. Keep an eye out for AT mines when getting into enemy territory.
7. Unless you have Flak, don't spam shots at far away helis. The only thing you're doing is a miniscule amount of damage, alerting the heli to where you are, and you're looking up instead of around you.
8. While not technically a gunner, we need to talk about the CAV Passenger seat. It is STRONG. If anyone cares, I can go into more depth, but do not overlook this seat.
9. Specialist selection and loadout. For Engineer, Boris Sentry Gun can help win vehicle battles, and it can also get you random kills after driving away from the scene. I prefer Crawford for the additional rocket though. I typically use the RPT or Avancys with an RPG + AT or EMP. Rao is also a great choice for the spotting and hacking. I use the NTW-50 for fun & anti-materiel rounds with Tracer Dart + EMP.

Particularly, I want to comment on:
3. I strongly agree! Getting disciplined with this is a critical part of being a gunner!
5. I tested both direct hit and indirect flak bursts, and I was getting the same. It could be that they made it more consistent with the tweaking which they did to the 20mm flak. I've been using the Flak pod on my Wildcat lately, to some success, to counter nightbirds that get close and circle with their AGMs.
7. The new 20mm have a tiny range of 100m, so what you say holds extra strong now. I completely agree. The power of the 20mm flak is tearing through the aircraft in a couple of seconds. If you don't kill them in that short window they you'll likely lose, and that window only appears if you can sneak up on them, as you mention if you are giving away your position, that won't ever happen.
8. When you say strong passenger seat in the MAV, which seat are you talking about?
9. I think Crawford is absolutely better than Boris now. Having an additional rocket is so critical, especially since they nerfed the underbarrel AP launchers (intentionally or not...)

Yeah if you have a driver on comms, you can run Lis with C5 and do drive-bys on vehicles or bait them into chasing. LMG for 200 rounds of pain, and Super Shotty secondary for jump-out 1-taps

It would be good for both parties. Enemies will understand what is hitting them and you get the satisfaction of putting the fear of the mortar into them :P

Amazing vid as always. I gotta say tho I love when a vehicle I’m on has the EMP nade. It’s so useful in clearing large bundles of enemy equipment. Like if I’m in a stealth chopper I’ll always shoot emp shots at tight doorways like the bunker in reclaimed and those metal base things with doors they have on a bunch of maps now like orbital, flashpoint etc. plus they have a pretty large Aoe and can break aps and blasco stuff even thru walls lol.

I think the direct invites from within EA app are possibly bugged. I cancelled the earlier friend request and sent you a fresh one from within the game's internal EA app overlay now.

Definitely a buff to the regular sensor array, since your whole purpose on the array is to spot, having your module make that easier is just straight up better. I still think that hitting Q to spot is better that the click from the sensor array. But the thermal vision should honestly be standard.

I would recommend a youtuber called Silk, who is an amazing pilot and has a couple of guides on how to fly choppers. If you're in the early stages of flying, and just need help staying in the air, I recommend just going into a single player game, spawning a chopper and just flying around to get a feel for staying in the sky, then once you have that down, try shooting. This is really hard to get the hang of and not just fly into the ground.

Playing Lis and being a passenger In whatever vehicle or aircraft I can get my hands on gives my brain the good chemicals.
Having random Lissiles come down from a gunship is something that I never see coming. A very solid strategy!

Like who doesnt love having a gunner in the AH that jumps out because it's a close fight. But he does that while the enemy heli is burning already and you are 5 miles outside of the map.

Same here, it's partially why I make videos like this. I want players to have the 'full' BF experience since to me this game is completely unique in this regard. Whenever I hear people shun vehicles because they are too easy, it's usually people who haven't ever fully tried them and don't know how you have to completely change your style of play. I want players to be better because the game can be really fun if you utilize all of the tools in this sandbox!

@@marzipandan767 Yep. The players who cry the loudest about vehicles never used one. But playing vehicles is one of the best ways to learn how to counter them. If people would sit in a Heli for once they might notice that going full stinger mode the entire match wont do much against a semi decent pilot.
On the other hand, if you never used a vehicle before and get sniped out of the air across the map by a railgun tank i understand why you wouldnt wanna do that again. Aircrafts in this game are extremely noob-unfriendly. Maybe thats the reason why there are only around 5-10 decent pilots on PS5 in central europe.
YES! to spotting/pinging. I miss how useful spotting is in BF1, but it's still at least somewhat useful in 2042 (if anyone is paying attention). Plus, free XP!
I think 99% of the time that I'm at the top of the scoreboard, it is because I rake in the free spot assists. It's pretty OP xD
Minor note: the emp nade from the railtank can stop infantry from using c5 on you.

Many BF players might see the "good run man" (mentioned at 28:17) message as sarcasm.
Consider using something else like "nice try, good driving" or "nice try, nice flying" to avoid the confusion.
Playing a liz as passenger in a condor or hind, and i enjoy repairing, dropping a TGM on unsuspecting armor, or some camper who didnt realize condors actually DO come with missiles sometimes.
You absolute mad lad! The gunship is already powerful enough without you making it a Lissile launching fortress!

I was driving a CAV the other day playing Control, and my gunner kept using the 25mm on infantry and never used the machine gun.

That drives me insane! The 25mm APDS should almost always be saved for vehicles since without it, your CAV is as good as gone.

This should be required viewing for every BF player. And please, UPGRADE YOUR VEHICLES!!!!!! If it's too much of a grind in MP, jump into some Co-Op matches and blast away at bots.

I agree, I love the 30mm gun on the attack chopper despite its weakness compared to how it was initially. I wish I could have gathered some, but I just didn't get the opportunity.
Funny thing that happened to me, a hacker hopped on my MAV on the beginning of the game. And that guy happily shreded the entire enemy team at the gunner seat leaving a 100+ kill, while I was on top assist. Definitely a WTF moment. 😂
I feel like I've only ever been in one game with a hacker in BF2042, generally the game is pretty light on cheaters from my experience. I always call out people for cheating whether they are on my team or not.
EMP on the stealth chopper can stop stinger lock on and Liz guidance, which makes it worth shooting engineers with them

Also rocket pod is best pod imo for drivers wondering what to equip. Also I suggest going with any weapon that can help with vehicle damage. I personally find the extra damage in a “1v1” a lot more valuable. I’m interested to know how others feel about this so please let me know.
I like volleypod more than mortarpod even though its also very good, its better at dealing with close range infantry than any other pod.

To each their own, I guess. You definitely find the volley pod a lot more than the mortar pod.
To me, those grenades drop so hard that if your driver isn't playing very close range, I find that it is hard to get good use out of them.
The 60mm mortar pod is almost like the JB2/V1 rockets in BF5. The fireball is a bit bigger than the damage perhaps but it looks good xD

I'd say the volley pod is like the 60mm Mortar's little brother with the arc it has. The main advantage of the volley is unlike the kinetic is it can deal impact damage to infantry, which makes it more reliable to use. if you were to move your mouse or stick while the grenades fire, you can cover a large area to hit moving targets. With how many kills it takes to get the Mortar pod, it's the next best thing any player can use.
I would say that is a fair assessment of the volley pod. I guess it's frustrating that so many people have it equipped when the mortar is just a better pod. I agree that dragging your mouse while shooting does help, but the drop on the grenades is very harsh. The kinetic grenade pod is unfortunately quite situational.
@@marzipandan767the mortar pod requires a lot of kills and assists to unlock, while the volley pod is unlocked earlier so it make sense it’s very common to see for low level vehicles to run them if mortar pods are an option
@@LD-sx9pr I agree, but I feel like even when people unlock it, they neglect to swap it because they themselves don't see it.
It's even more common now since they reduced the number of POD choices the wildcat has.

I can clean up with barrage missiles. I'm always happy when I spawn on a vehicle equipped with them.
They are really good, but just misleading to people who don't know their weapon choices well. They are actually quite rare all things considered.
The vehicle guns are amazing but finding a random that can drive well is about as rare as finding a diamond
You would think so, right? But turns out most players focus on using C5 to deal with vehicles, so if as a gunner you focus on protecting your vehicle from these players you can end up having a really great run even if the driver isn't the best. Yes, you will still get those games where your MAV drives into a bunch of Assault and Engineer players and then you get coated with C5, but generally I found success in a lot more games than I expected! The key is to focus on protecting.

The 40mm grenade launcher can be used against attack choppers if they get too close when you’re in a transport chopper they do like 25 damage
They can definitely work pretty well against choppers. If you know you can make the shot, then it's worth it. But if you're just hoping one will land and you waste your 8 shots, you're gonna be sad when your driver takes you up to a group of infantry and you have only one grenade to hit them with xD

feel like it makes sense for the TOR tank to camp towards the back tbh, otherwiae agreed. seems like most players are afraid to rush in cuz the passengers dont kill the C5ers
I agree, it does, but that is what makes a it poorly designed vehicle. Vehicles shouldn't be encouraged to camp.
Yeah most players are afraid of C5 but you can try to play in a smarter way in order to prevent C5 attacks from being successful, move up with infantry and avoid moving into tight spaces where infantry can jump out at you.
i play with a 0.1 tank player and myself have 140 mastery levels in the cav+multiple vehicles t1 and just want to say that irish is by far the most useful specialist for vehicles. Being able to just hope out and place a aps to counter any missle is HUGE for the driver to hide behind and catch a break or repair. What me and dou normally do is I'll hop out periodically and place a aps that allows him to play closer and closer to the objective, basically walking him in and having retreat points incase we need to recover. In fact while I'm playing solo as a cav driver anytime i see a aps i try to play around it. Those things are just op in 2042 with the amount of expo spam.
I agree Irish sentinels are really good and kind of underutilized. I do think the nerf hurt them pretty badly, and the recent nerf so that they no longer intercept cannon rounds also hurts them. But they are still super valuable against infantry attacks. Thanks for adding this! It's important than people get this information!

Oh my god, it would have been massive. People would have loved it and sunk so much more time and money into it. Typical EA always chasing short-sighted cash grabs by chasing industry trends instead of putting time and care into their pre-established franchises. Such a shame.

@@BigHeadAvenger True, they could have just abandoned it and it is good they didn't, but I do find it hard to believe that a full team is working on the updates, like EA says. It definitely feels like it is being maintained by a small cleanup crew, hence the low amount of content being released.

I love the MBTs for ground and the attack choppers for the sky. With the MBT I liked to keep enemy armour in check and work on capturing points with the team. With the attack choppers it's the same, I like supporting ground troops and dealing with armour using the 127mm rockets :P What about yourself?
@@marzipandan767 I really like anti-infantry stuff, and so far my favorite has been the EBLC-RAM, it just seems to work for me. I wanna use the BOLTE and the CAV some more too though. By the way, what would you say the best anti-infantry weapon is? Kinda broad question, but was just curious. I'm also terrible at helicopters, so I tend to love the ground vehicles a lot.
@@pedromegacool I have not had a lot of success with the RAM, I just need to get used to the hit and run style of gameplay, but as is, I suck at it. The CAV is great, I love the cluster bomb weapon you get as the driver, and if you have a good passenger or two you can do some absolute work! The mortar pod is probably the best anti-infantry weapon honestly. It just deletes people. The 40mm grenade launcher is also a really good choice, if you can manage your grenades, you can clear entire squads with it.
I really like the Nightbird too, I can be pretty lethal with the miniguns on it.

I've always had issues using the gunner seats in 2042. Controller settings may be off, but it seems like I tend to outline the target rather than hit them. Especially in the stealh chopper. That gun is just a mean joke.
I can't say since I'm exclusively a PC player, but I can say that the stealth chopper gun is by far the hardest to use and I cannot see how you could possible get kills with in while using a controller. There is too much movement on the stealth, and you need a direct hit with the bullets to even damage enemies. Stick to using it against light vehicles and choppers. It's surprisingly good against transport choppers.
The 60mm flak used to be the most overpowered weapon in the game. You could sit in spawn a fire across the the map and get 3 hit kills on humans and helicopters
It was definitely overpowered. It's still good if you are being harrassed by choppers because they need to get close, but at any sort of range, it's practically useless...
