    Love your series guy.
My WX202 is at least 29 yrs old!
And who knows how long previous peeps had it.
Not a spec of rust and it's always wet.
I'm down in the basement/dungeon again
to change ANOTHER deep well convertible
pump after 3-4 years. The tank is losing air pressure
faster and faster now but does not get waterlogged.
Before I scrap it for new, what are the chances that
it's leaking thru the schrader valve? I could put a
new stem in and save a lot of money.
Ya think it could be that?
    PS>
House came with a Myers pump and lasted me at
least 15 yrs. I think it was original with the house.
Looooong lived. Any recommendations on one
as good? But please not for $1500. (Eeeks!)

    • @RCworstwater
      @RCworstwater  5 лет назад

      1. When your pressure tank no longer holds pressure ( such as a hole in the diaphragm)
      2. Yes, this pressure tank is designed to handle sediment commonly pumped out of wells and lake water.

I just installed a 26 gallon WellXTrol - I curious how much water does a 26 gallon tank hold? 26 gallons would make the tank weigh about 200 + pounds. My tank when pumped up full weighs about 80 pounds (guessing) which would be about 10 gallons. The draw down is 7 gallons. Is the draw down gallons plus a few more gallons the amount tank actually holds? Thanks for the informative videos...

This a great video and I really appreciate the info as well as the comment section questions and responses. If I could ask why would a system continue to work with water pressure even if the pressure tank has failed and does not hold air? I might be answering my own question but is the well pump strong enough to keep pressure to a home even if the pressure tank is failing or failed. What is the true job of pressure tank? To relief the actual well pump from overworking and prolong it's life span?

    • @RCworstwater
      @RCworstwater  3 года назад +2

Good question! The job of the pressure tank is to give the pump a chance to rest. The bigger the tank, the longer the resting periods and longer life you'll get out of the well pump. With no tank or a failed tank the pump will turn on every time you use water and will quickly burn out.

The water worker is similar, no turbulator, or anti microbial liner, inside is not rust proofed, outer coating is cheaper and the steel is thinner. Warranty is also shorter and more difficult to claim(lots of things that void it as opposed to the wellxtrol one).

Is there a way to do any adjustments without a working gauge on the pump or pressure tank. I bought the house and the pump was as is. The pump runs so far 20 min. and it never shut off. The pressure switch states that its calibrated at 30-50. I set the pressure , bladder tank at 28 psi with a pump. I don't know if the pressure switch is at the 30-50 factory settings. Is there a way to back out the screws and start over counting the turns. Or in a pinch get the pump to get water to the house. The weight thing is mostly to make a difference if you buy the tank and want less shipping and handling cost. But like he says, once installed, weight is meaningless. You buy that thing and it will sit there for years. It's not like if you house would complain about the weight of the tank on top of the floor, so get a good one even if it costs a little more.

tanks are much SMALLER, EASIER TO HANDLE( 1 person is needed) with a small tanks, always imstall a anti cycle valve such as the brass or stainless steel BARRETT pump stop( est.30-40%) cheaper than other brands and made with top grade brass and stainless steel,I also seen some plastic ,must be careful when temperatures are below 32 I think it’s a good idea to have a small space heater inside your pump house atleast insulate the pipes it keeps the wind shield factor off the pipes, doesn’t keep from freezing, only helps reduce chance, plastic is for those on a s budget that need to keep the well motor working for as long as possible......But the other brands are $1000, to compare $600 for
Barrett pump stop cycle cop version all Theses valve do the same thing., no reason one should be almost $1000( it was pretty easy to install and setting are pretty simple). ..remember Always install a anti cycle valve. I have the Barrett Pump stop, cycle cop.( made in the USA, I think the price starts at $99 , Or go with the more expensive brands but don’t forget to install one, unless you have a very big tank and only a 3/4-1’’ pipe on discharge side small house no garden etc. Good luck. Remember YOU HAVE OPTIONS. this is not rocket science and anti cycle valves have been around for decades. Bottom line don’t let a company make it so expensive to where you have to for-go a anti cycle valve. Buy a small tank and get a anti cycle valve. Lots of rural people live on fix incomes and want a product that is made to last w/out paying 2 and 3 times over what it should retail for only because a company spends hundreds of thousands on advertisements , sounded to me I was paying for the name and all the money added to each valve for advertising,no thanks... SO you may not realize other company’s sell anti cycle valves for a REASONABLE PRICE... remember Barrett pump stop is Assembled in USA(I’m like 90% sure I know it’s not China tho), I also liked the warranty, the price w/ good warranty and made in USA was enough for me to buy a smaller tank and a cycle valve to PROLONG my pump(well pump replacement was/is not cheap, I want my pump and motor to last as long as possible, so I did NOT skip on researching pump cycling and the effects it has on well motors along with offering other benefits like uses less electricity and how effective a anti cycle valve is and when you can find one on the web at a price that makes sense and seems FAIR I to added one, most people don’t install them because the price is so HIGH( doesn’t seem reasonable or fair)thankfully I found BARRETT PUMP STOP, AND ORDERED the 1” cycle cop in brass and it was easy to install and at the price I paid I can replace it w/out having worry about cost( will I be able to afford it, when the time comes to have it replace, no worries) and with COVID-19 I could have went with the plastic that is for budgeting people with a well , WHO REALLY WANT THE WELL TO LAST-as long as possible and who can’t afford big tanks, high price anti cycle valves...... it would be my last choice the option of plastic is great although it must be insulated properly (often people don’t put insulation when building a well pump house...
ITS VERY IMPORTANT TO INSULATE THE PUMP HOUSE WALLS AND ALSO ALL Exposed pipe or pipe that is less that 6” underground. Also remember to turna hose Bibb on with a little stream of water coming out when temps are 32 or below, I normally do it when it drops below 27. Also if your well is Cycling on and off really fast, you need air in your tank OR YOUR TANK IS BROKEN(most likely) so replace tank and while your at it install new valve to PROLONG THE LIFE OF YOUR WELL.. a well or anything electrical turning on and off more than 6 times in 1 hour will decrease the life of that motor.

Why didn't you have a cut away of other tanks? You didn't give specifications of other manufacturers, you just implied they were inferior so this _Still_ sounds like a product ad to me.

Add a filter (with pressure relief) in the line before the tank. Also add quality valves (non-PVC) before and after the filter for easy filter changes.

spent the money 3 times... It lasts us about 2 years every time.... The diaphram is garbage obviously since ours keeps breaking.

If you purchased a Well-X-Trol tank it would be under warranty after two years. Did you pursue a warranty replacement?

My wellxtrol WX-255 has now failed. I am now fighting to have them honor their warranty. My manufacture date on the tank is 04/09/20 and the shipping delivery was 05/15/20. I paid $714.49 on sale + $225 shipping plus 7% sales tax and it did not last as long as a cheap $368 "waterworks" tank from Home depot. I bought wellxtrol due to the reputation and because of this video. I am at the point of posting my own video about what a piece of crap this tank is. Every week I have to disconnect this tank and move a full 81 gallon tank outside and flip it upside down to drain the water out of the Schraeder value. I am really unhappy.

I am sorry to hear you're having such an issue with your tank. Are you dealing with the supplier that sold you the tank or with WellXtrol directly? I can tell you that we have never had an issue when the occasional (maybe 1 every couple years) tank is submitted for warranty.

@@RCworstwater OK so they gave me a new tank! I was dealing with the people at the warranty link on the manufacturer's website when you click on submit warranty claim. I only had the packing/shipping slip and credit card proof of payment but the seller was able to send me a copy of the original invoice as they still had it on file. Eventually the seller took over the warranty process. I had to use a heat gun to get the original decal off of the tank and I mailed it to the company that sold me the tank. Make sure that you get an original invoice when you buy. If you buy online you will get a packing slip that is not an invoice. They sent me a huge box by Fed-ex. I am quite happy now

@@Bobcagon They sent me a brand new tank for free so no complaints with the replacement one. I take back by post as I am really happy with the tank now. I guess I just got unlucky with the first one. I did not cut the old tank apart but I discarded it after I got shipped the replacement. I suppose it was a failed liner that keeps the air pressure separate from the bottom water section. The replacement is working flawlessly.

If anyone runs into this, no need to flip it. Shut the pump off, open a faucet, add a small amount of nitrogen (watch the pressure!) and wait for it to push the water out.

150 psi means what when the safety is set at half. Nice claim but of no real practical advantage. Like the burst pressure of pex. Fun to debate but of no real value.
