My dryer wouldn't start, and I was able to order and replace the parts with your help. Your video was straight to the point and with ease. I saved a lot of money. Thanks for the video!
Excellent video, Congratulations! No nonsense gimmicks, no music, well paused, explained troubleshoots with its multimeter settings, and great camera operation. It is a ten stars video. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Best explanation I've ever found on here explaining exactly how to do what needs done to correct the problem! Found my problem 8n minutes! Thanks for taking the time to explain it right and keeping safety a top concern!!!
This was the most professional and well thought out repair presentation I have used. I even got a multi-meter just like his so I could follow easily. Found and fixed the problem easily. Thanks!!
I checked my thermal fuse and the reader stayed on OL. No beep. I guess that's what I'm headed to pick up from the store tomorrow, if someone has one in stock. BEST VIDEO for diagnosis and repair of a dryer!! I'm impressed! Thank you!
Thank you for this video! It’s so clear and covers everything. My dryer just died today. I need to go buy a multimeter to troubleshoot the problem, but I feel much more confident about trying to fix it myself now.
Thanks so much for your videos! Our dryer quit working and I followed your instructions. Tested the timer and no continuity on the leads. (Thanks for showing how to test also!!) Order the part from Amazon and for @ 135.00 for the part, it is working again.
UPDATE: Thank you Angel. Once the parts arrived, it took more time to take the back panel off and screw back on than it did to change the fuse and the cycling thermostat. You're Awesome !!! Now that's done I see there's some work to be done when we remodel that room ... make access panel for the huge openings cut into the wall behind the washer/dryer. Remove the 20+ ft poly vent hose that goes up, over, down, over, then up again out through the wall through a plastic anchor that is not even attached to the wall. Will cut a hole through the closet wall to run an aluminum flex hose through to the outside vent with new anchors properly mounted at closet wall and exterior wall. These 'holes" behind the w/d are open to the crawl space under the house ... gee no wonder our old country house has a mouse problem with indoor kitty, outdoor kitty, steel wool around pipe holes coming into kitchen & bathrooms, pipe insulation flush to floors and exterior insulator foam around the openings where the pipes come in from outside. I should come out of retirement, instead I told hubby he owes me a slice of cheesecake. Thanks, Meg
Great Video. The best I’ve seen! I’ve tested everything like you showed, except the motor. Everything is good. Now I’m off to Lowe’s to get alligator clips so I can test the motor - although, it has to be the motor since everything else passed the tests. Thanks for the video!
By far one of the best exclamations on how to repair something I have ever seen/heard!! You sir just got a New Subscriber!! Can’t say how much I appreciate your thoroughness with your descriptions!! Happy New Year!!
Angel, you have the utmost excellent instructions, very thorough and yes, no dogs or children. I will come back to this video to go through it if need be.. thanks from Girl Welder.
Best video of this kind I've seen -- and I've seen quite a few. One thing regarding the motor testing: on my Admiral AED4675, once the power was connected as you showed, I still had to push the "Start" button to start the motor, which ran fine.
Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge with us!! We have a Crosley dryer and as far as I can tell, it’s the same as the Whirlpool, but I checked the thermal fuse and it was good. The start switch was good. I had power from the wall. The door safety switch is good, too, but the little plastic tab that the door strikes is broken. I’ll get a new one and install it. Thank you so much again!!
Thank you Thank you. What a blessing to have your videos to refer to. Thank you for the clear narratives in your videos, walking through step by step and coupling that with video showing hands on how it is done. Everything checked out until I got to the fuse. It was the first thing to test bad. Got to the part where you said it's recommended to replace the operating thermostat as well if the fuse is bad. I paused to find a video to test that part & your video for it came up first on the list. (You Are The Go To Man.) It tested out fine, but I will change it anyway as recommended. I finished going through all steps in this video to be sure everything else tests out fine, would hate to order fuse & thermostat and find out it needs another little part that puts us down more days waiting for another order to arrive or squeezing in another trip to the city. We're a good hour one way from the city to get parts, if they even have in stock. All but one of our appliance and other handyman service guys have left our little rural town for business elsewhere over the years. Your other video for testing the operating thermostat mentioned where to get the parts. Thank you for that as well. Bringing someone out from the city is a high ticket, transporting it to the city requires taking 2 afternoons off and have to leave it a week. Mr. theapplianceman you Rock!!! - Meg
Hola, Angel, this is the best YT on how to safely diagnose and replace many different parts. Nothing else like it. Really appreciate it and SUBSCRIBED. Man, if you are in SF Bay Area, I’d just call you to do the repairs.
A very well done video. Thank you. I found that the fuse was bad on mine (the exact same model in the video) replaced with a new fuse and thermostat but unfortunately it still won't start. Door and start switch and timer seem to be fine. Could be the motor is bad and blew the fuse? I guess I will make a cord to test the motor next.
Well, I was double checking my work and found the problem. When I first checked the door switch, the exposed end of the probes on my tester were not long enough to connect with the terminals so I disconnected the switch to test it, and then closed the top w/o reconnecting it! Rookie mistake. It goes to show thougb, It pays to double check the easy stuff before moving on. Thanks again!

QUESTION; I tested everything you suggested in the video.everything was good. When I tested the motor, it did not run or hum. The timer clicked, but the motor made no noise. Does that mean the motor is definitely bad, or could there possibly be a broken wire going to the motor? Thanks! GREAT VIDEO!
I have been looking at a lot of videos hoping to pin pint why my dryer won't start. I must have seen at least 25 and I have to say this is the best video I've seen. I have never repaired an appliance so this is a huge hel for me. In tough times like now when money is so tight this really helps. My dryer is very old but has work for many years without any issues. Really my hope is to know if it is fixable, I at least want to try. If it is not fixable then fine at least I will discover it is time to buy new.

Got a question Angel. I’m working on a roper dryer that my 21 year old son and daughter-in-law have at their house. It doesn’t have the white and tan connection on the timer. I’m good with the blue-black wires. Are there other connections to check on the timer? When I tried to test the motor, nothing happened. It did start when I pushed the start switch and then it kept going? Any ideas or insight into the problem? You have a big tip coming already. Great video!!! Bob McClure
WARNING- The motor test he shows uses the blue wire from the thermo fuse. This may not apply to gas models. He is using an electric. Check the paper diagram inside of the back control panel. Look at where the blue motor wire goes.
I change the thermal fuse and I change the thermal thermostat as well because my dryer it won’t start before ; but. I hear like my dryer now is doing more noise then before what you think it’s? Thank you for reading my questtion
Great you got the start fixed, C Barber is correct. the drum is not spinning in a true circle. When the load is wet, the drum moves away from the rollers and thumps back on roller which magnifies the sound like the dryer is lifting up and slamming back down. You should also check the both front and back felt, it might be very worn or missing parts of it.
Thank you for posting this helpful video. Please I need your help. I have a Whirlpool washer direct drive. It fills, wash, and drains, but it doesn’t spin unless I open and close the lid. I checked the lid switch, the motor coupler, and the clutch, and they are good. Could you please tell what’s wrong with it. Thank you again.
Listen to me when the washer goes to the drain mode the neutral mechanism inside of the transmission is engage after the water has drained the timer supposed to stop the motor for a few seconds and when the timer turn the motor again the neutral drain disengage and the washer spins. That is why when you open the door and close it the washer spins You have a timer that is not working properly You still could use the washer like that, but you need to open the lid to make it spin angel theapplianceman

I need to replace my washer. I don’t need a super duper high efficiency model. Just a good long lasting ,reliable washer for a reasonable price. Any suggestions? Thanks
Hey Ken what you have now for a washer? Why you need to replace it? What they make now is junk and expensive to repair because most are all electronics. I don't know how old you are, but I remember the older cars you never had to take them for a tune up. So I remove the thermal fuse for my dryer because won’t start before the thermal fuse I ordered at Amazon but now I hear my dryer is doing a big noise what you think is is ?
I would add some kind of legal phrase in this video saying don't try this at home , call a professional. Some people are very electrical sensitive where a simple shock can stop Thier heart. I'm not knocking this video at all, it's good to have some working knowledge before anybody tries this. Just remember everyone that 110 will throw you but 240 will hold you.

Awesome video I really liked you explained it 😀
Awesome! Thank you.
Excellent lessons. Thank you.
Great video! Vero thorough!
It was the door switch. Little nub broke off so the door wasn't catching it. I wouldn't have started there, if not for this video. Thanks

I'm getting about 1650ohms between the blue and pink wires, is that far enough out to replace the switch?
Thanks

Sounds like it could be the rollers or glides depending on what model you have or your idler pulley

So I remove the thermal fuse for my dryer because won’t start before the thermal fuse I ordered at Amazon but now I hear my dryer is doing a big noise what you think is is ?
My timer is making a noise like a refrigerator timer is this normal.
So that push to start no good it's in kilo ohms 1.6 ohms to low
Oh. Push to start. God, I’m stupid.

Hey the dryer is dead
I refuse to pay 😤 someone to come look at the dryer 😒 85.00 bucks 😤 everytime they come look at the dryer is insanity to me
