      Yes, the GT3RS has multiple settings that are all the Rock Hard Same and it still gets spanked. Oh, that radio us useless as is the one in the Viper. I don't know what you are talking about when you reference the dimming in the GT3RS. The GT3RS is Porsche premier track car sans the $million 981.

      The problem is the Never offered a Small engine/entry level model...and Most importantly they never had an automatic available.
      All Ferriris/lambos/pagani's/McLarens?Nissan GT-R are ALL automatics
      Porsche is really to only one that offers a manual and Most 911's are PDK(automatics).
      Even Corvette, 75% sold are automatics.

    • @johndessire399
      @johndessire399 7 лет назад +3

      JerseyMikeP It's also more expensive then a corvette with out many benifit.

    • @JerseyMikeP
      @JerseyMikeP 7 лет назад +47

      Well the Price was Because it is Hand-built and uses ALOT more exotic materials. The Cheapest Viper has more carbon fiber/aluminum the Z06/Z07 or even a GT2RS. The Vette Sadly uses alot of Cheap/flimsy FRPP "Plastic" in it's build and the C7 Z06 has MANY Problems.....for about $10kless than a SRT Viper.
      Also Most supercars/exotics a big part is about standing out....making people notice.....a Z06 doesn't stand out...but any Viper does.

    • @johndessire399
      @johndessire399 7 лет назад +2

      JerseyMikeP That true that the viper was more handbuilt, but the corvette a better daily, cheaper to maintain, easier to drive, with similar lap times between the car excluding the act variant. At onue point a gts started at 120k.

    • @JerseyMikeP
      @JerseyMikeP 7 лет назад +10

      John Dessire..."But the corvette a better daily, cheaper to maintain, easier to drive, with similar lap times between the car excluding the act variant. At one point a gts started at 120k."
      The Z06/Z07 ISN'T a better daily driver than a GTS Viper....I've never seen a NON-Z07 package Z06 tested but considering it's out of control with the DOT slicks (Michelin cups) I doubt the Regular Z06 is better handling.
      TRUE...It's would be Cheaper to fix....but then again the Z06 had nothing but problems...vs. None that I've heard of for the 2016 Vipers. So it's a point of Cheaper repairs...vs. No repairs needed.
      "Similar lap times"....Well Again...Motor trend (NO one) has ever tested the Regular Z06 which comes with Michelin SUPERSPORT TIRES. The fact that the Z07 barely beats the T/A 1.0 which is on Corsa tires...says the Viepr is MUCH faster. SRT in fact mounted Zr-1 tires on the T/A and it was 2.5 sec. faster...so No the Z06 is MUCH slower on the same type of tire. And on a drag strip the T/A is actually faster with the corsa vs. teh manual Z06 with the CUP tires....especially in trap speed in which the T/A is 4mph faster.
      The C6 Zr-1 was a MUCH better super-vette than the C7 Z06.
      Again the price has to take into account the materials.... I vette and aluminum roof/doors/sill and Carbon fiber hood for a base Z06 would cost over $15k+. The Aero kit on the ACR if you priced out the pieces is over $25k.
      SRT base $90k...but when you consider a 370hp base 911 starts @ that price it's a steal.

    • @PeterBellefleur
      @PeterBellefleur 8 лет назад +224

      EPA has nothing to do with it. Its the DOT and the side curtain airbag requirements coming in, and the fact they don't sell a ton of these to justify the expense of the re-design.

    • @YesSir34
      @YesSir34 8 лет назад +60

      Cancelled the production of the Viper because of the srs system...you need a certain amount of space for the airbags and the viper doesn't have any...essentially they would have to make the roof taller and wider for the srs system.

    • @psyku
      @psyku 8 лет назад +24

      He is entertaining but in a different way. Plus these 5 to 6 minute videos don't do him justice.
      Plus producers/writers of the new top gear messed up they gave the original style to the new hosts and went with it.
      Instead of really rebuilding a new routine.
      Curious about the next season what will change and what not.
      And now we have 2 car shows instead of one. As good as the old Team is, Jeremy did mess up, so blaming everybody else for Jeremy's mistake is stupid.
      And they did offer Jeremy's job back and he didn't accept. because of other issues with the BBC.
      So all and all its not a total loss. We get to see the old trio in a new format/show.
      And we have a new Top gear Show.
      Its more of a Win Win really.

Give Chris some more on screen time and allow a chemistry to build between the other presenters now that Evans is gone and I think everyone won't be able to help but come around.

It's displacement comes from lowering its center of gravity. It's all about usable power and keeping itself planted. If you don't add any frills it's pretty easy to keep the costs down. There is some truth to that, but I also think that American manufacturers are purposefully trying to fill a market segment for these types of cars that is in a price point that the average person can't afford, but is much more attainable for people that are not super rich compared to most of the European brands. I personally know several people that can afford a car in the $90-$150k range but not many that can buy cars in the $250k+ range. A quality dual clutch would put this car too close to that bracket.

      Also for a long time you were looked down on in america if you had an automatic in a performance car. Even way back in the 60's/70's it was looked down upon...even though automatics were quicker and more consistent in drag racing.

    • @MrIDKay
      @MrIDKay 8 лет назад +5

      The transmissions is a Tremec TR-6060 which has been put into cars since 2005.
      Even Today many car enthusiasts prefer something with a manual, but will still praise the achievements of a fast-shifting automatic, that's well connected to the rest of the car. There is a reason Chris Harris emphasized the manual, also if you didn't catch him say "I have this stick thing here, so it's a proper sports car".
      I agree with everything you said, I'm just saying even today its somewhat looked down upon.
      After a certain point of speed, people will sacrifice how fast they can go for a more joyful drive.
      I understand the business side, automatics sell more. Hence the majority that could afford Ferraris and Lamborghinis can have their fun without learning to drive stick. (Not saying all) I mean if your sales are going to 90%+ to automatics, why put R&D into developing the manual with it.
      However, there always seems to be purpose built cars for driver engagement.
      Porsche and Corvette going 7 speed manuals. Chevrolet SS Sedan coming in manual. The new 911R and GT4, Focus ST/RS, Civic Si, Dodge Viper(duh), Ford GT350, Camaro z28, only coming in a stick shift.
      Kind of just responded to everyone above. Sorry if it's ranty, cant sleep.

      @MattacksRC 8 лет назад +4

      its also cheaper to reuse known technology.. in sports cars this isnt ideal as they're always pushing to advance technology but, its hard to deny the nostalgia that comes with a "proper" manual transmission.

      The F1 is a legend. For its time it was untouchable, and it was untouchable for arguably another 15 years. That sort of longevity of performance is unheard of. It's still a super solid contender now over 20 years later. The fact that those levels of performance are still only now trickling down to cars worth $150,000 speaks volumes for how far ahead of its time it was. It might be eclipsed by the likes of the P1, 918 and LaFerrari, but in 30 years time I doubt anyone will remember them like the F1 will be. I mean I'm sure they're all phenomenal cars in their own right, as is the Viper, but with how diluted the super/hypercar pool is these days, it would take something really special to equal the F1.
