Everything I’ve read/seen about this kid suggests he’s a hard worker and realises he can’t compete on just his size alone. If he continues to train hard, learn more, and improve his game, he’s got a good future either in the NBA or internationally.
That works because Manute Bol was a natural 7'7 with a wingspan over 8 feet. Quick and great on defense. But never passed the ball and couldn't shoot. He did develop a 3 point shot later. Bol Bol (7'2) is a good shot but can't block shots!
@@MadCow999That's wemby. He's an exception and no player has moved that fast at 7'5 ever. So no, they aren't tearing it up. Wemby was also NOT simply a 3 star recruit at 18, he was quite literally light-years ahead of this "7'9" kid(his actual height is 7'7 btw). Mentioning one player does not prove a point.
Tacko Fall, who had a very good built, was also the heaviest player in the NBA at 305lbs. He didn't pan out, but he's probably got a bundle in the bank. This kid should play 4 years of college, hit the NBA and retire a millionaire at 30.
It is impressive that he moves like that for his height. Physically, he really just has to maintain his durability and coordination. No need to go far beyond in athleticism, that will increase his risks for being hurt especially since he’s 7 foot 9. Instead, develop some post skills and defensive iq like yao ming or tim duncan
Being tall isn’t the only thing that makes you good at basketball the reason we never see people that are almost 8 feet tall is because of the amount of stress it puts on their legs so it’s more about the physical aspect against high schools he might dominate but against the pros he will most likely struggle do to being so tall
If he wants to get really good, he’ll go to Purdue and play for Matt Painter. Painter has shown himself to be the best big man coach in college basketball.
Is he good? As much as people poke fun of Shawn Bradley, he doesn't have 1/10 the athleticism and mobility. Unless he goes crazy with big man skills he's not going to persevere in the NBA.
