Hi Caroline. Using the turned join on a diagonal: a. does it matter if you start with uneven or even number of warps to center the design? b. If you are using two passes for a steeper diagonal, do you join/overlap both passes or just one of them? It seems like on a diagonal one pass would be an even number of warps and the next would be an uneven number if you were only making a diagonal line in one direction. Thank you. Patty

If you want a centered design you need an uneven number of warps. If you do a steeper diagonal you join both passes. You are right about the even/odd warps. On one row you are going around an even warp and the next time an odd one, etc., etc. Sounds like you have it down.

@@carolinespurgeon6016 Thank you Caroline. I really don't have it down. I am making an outlined upside down triangle and my joins are off so I'm going to start over. Thank you so much for your videos! You do such a great job.

Hello, So after laying in the first row, you are simply increasing each of the two white yarns by one warp and decreasing the brown yarn by one warp, correct? This is done with each pass, is that right? Thank you for your help.

That's correct. Yes, make sure you do it each pass so the diagonal decreases/increases by one warp each row.

I accidentally bent a few of my pegs what should I do??

Gently straighten them. I use a screwdriver and press them back into place. Be gentle and just get them back in line.

Hello, I'm just starting to learn Diagonal lines. So, what shed do you mark your turn warps? During your stick shed or the pull shed? Which shed to do turn on marked warps.

    • @carolinespurgeon6016

It doesn't matter as long as you're consistent. Sometimes my stick shed is the one I use right to left and sometimes left to right. If I do a side to side design that is an odd number - like the seed - it may change. I know some people are particular and always do the pull shed from left to right but not me! In other words, do what works for you but be consistent.

I thoroughly enjoy your videos, thank you so much for sharing! What is the warp you are using with the bulky yarn, and where do you get it? Thank you!

On that project I was using Davidson's Navajo Warp. It is not easy to find anymore as they have discontinued their warp production. Sometimes you can find it on Ebay or Etsy. You can also use a wool rug warp. I find good warp at Tierra Wools. I like their 2-ply for fine weavings and the 3 or 4 ply for heavier tapestries.

Thank you for this video, I find it very informative! I've been searching for this beautiful sorrel colored yarn - do you know where I could find that?

I'm pretty sure that is Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Bulky that I am using. They usually have the same colors in all their lines/sizes so you might check their yarns. They also sell online now so if your local yarn shop doesn't carry it you can check Brown Sheep.com.

Did you master the vertical lines first? Diagonal lines take concentration and practice. Make sure you try the other techniques first as the diagonal lines are the hardest. Have patience - you'll get there!
