It is baffling to me how small teams of indie developers keep dishing out excellent games. The gaming industry and the people need to keep the indie scene alive.
@toyfan1769 It's a blocky Roblox game with little detail to vegetation bro. If you can't see blocky men in this silly game I think you genuinly just need eye contacts or glasses while playing or something lol. It's insanely easy to see people in this game because it's not a visual clusterfuck like modern games are.
@feryth No, they aren't, Toyfan here is just an example of a basement dwelling Redditor trying to drum up fake controversy because people like him can't fathom how the silly block game has managed to steal most of the players away from the current BF games. Literally the only people complaining about this are retards and reddit mods, everyone else isn't falling for this discussion though because they understand full well the mainstream FPS games especially Battlefield have a vested interest in damaging Battlebit's reputation as early on as possible since they can't compete with it at all in the long term. It's best just to ignore them, the only problems the game really has is just the aesthetic that won't fit some people's absurdly high standards and the inevitable constant scale of balance of its weapons and classes, which is just a given with this type of game this early on.
7 years of development and this game starting as a milsim explains all the attention to details. It is still really impressive for such a small team. It is worth knowing that bigger teams don't scale linearly, and as they grow can actually slow down production. You end up with devs having more meetings than actually making things, having to get new features and code approved, etc. Small teams can move faster in a lot of ways... But yes, it did also take them 7 years and they could probably use 1 or 2 more people.
From what I understand about game development, one of the things that influence flow and speed the most is just how well the team knows who does what, like if it's decided they need to fix a menu UI you know who does the programming and design and just go to them but if you're in a giant bloated company it's just chaos because every little thing needs approval from higher ups and it's just a fuckton of meetings
Its interesting you commented that the gunplay was worked on first. The devs actually had to rework a lot of the gunplay and pacing of this game in its earlier iterations because it had a lot of its roots in milsim games. It used to play a lot more like Squad than Battlefield.
Please never stop making this love letter videos. I wasn’t playing during the 2000s shooter storm, but even I now feel nostalgic for those days. Much love.
My first FPS games were medal of honor allied assault and Call of Duty 1. Seeing the lack of innovation in FPS games hit a peak in the early 2000s and decline from there. This game has been thoroughly enjoyable for the couple weeks I've been playing it, its affordable, and its accessible to people because of the price point and the ease with which it can run on most PCs. The voice chat makes it fun and engaging and its a fun play.
It's fun, just kinda wish that equipment was more readily available. Yeah, I get it's early access and there's more to come. But it feels like the level requirement to reach certain things is nuts.
FPS's have definitely improved since the early 2000's. Apex Legends is 1000x smoother than games like Medal Of Honor: Rising Sun or Cod2. I play Mw2 mutliplayer on pc with friends every once in awhile and it definitely feels clunky compared to most modern shooters. The problem with modern gaming is an obsession with graphics and publisher greed.
Bricky you should check out Jonathan Fergusson, the keeper of arms and artillery at the Royal Armoury Museum. He did a reaction and analysis of Battlebit weapons, if you want to know more from an actual expert in firearms. Also, the devs reacted to him reacting to Battlebit. All is worth a watch!
battle bit is a great game but slightly bad news in terms of their budget. although they did sell a gazillion copies and did like 20 million in sales, steam doesn't pay them until september, and since so many people are playing, server costs are high, so they needed to take out a loan from an international bank because no bank in the US would loan them the amount of money they needed at a reasonable interest rate.
i was acquainted with mr. Oki for a short time during the beta tests, absolutely phenomenal crew. Hilariously enough two Norweigans [or swedish I forgot lmao] and a cracked out of his mind French guy making maps. Oki showed me a bit of blender and modelling, which led to me starting my degree in game design this September. Will never forget how hard they worked on this game .
i mean we kinda did that already with overfill systems (when your number of shots is based on the mag size and it uses total ammo all up.) i do think this is a more interesting visual way to show up
battlebit has been so refreshing for me to play, it’s kind of funny thinking about it. we don’t need insane graphics or microtransactions. just fun gameplay and good gun mechanics
Battlebit remastered is probably the best FPS on the market! And well, this isn't such a difficult title to grab anyway, at least for non-tactical shooters.
On the menu problems, I think they are trying to avoid having 70 different tabs for customization and just consolidating it all into one or two menus instead. Probably a better way to do it but the current iteration is “usable” in comparison to its competitors
the analogy of Tony Stark and "building this in a cave with a box of scraps" and Thanos "fine I'll do it myself" meme quotes is some very excellent points actually...
This game just shows how much the gaming community misses a good Battlefield game. There hasn't been a good one since BF1 and there hasn't been a great one since 4 got fixed. This just makes me miss the days of gaming from 2007 - around 2012.
I mean, V is good now, or at least fun to play. Problem is it's essentially abandoned and has cheaters maybe 1 in 3 matches. Still a good battlefield game, but it took way too long to get there
Amen.. I'm glad I spent a lot of timing gaming back then(up through about 2016 really, but I take your point) because I definitely did not realize how good we had it. I do still enjoy V with some friends on Playstation but it just looks soooo much better ultrawide, ultra graphics, over 100 fps on pc. Most refreshing part of playing BB is that it's not trying to suck my soul out through my wallet.

Funnily enough I find the very square bodies very satisfying to get headshots on, usually I’m not a good enough gamer to hit them. Another thing about the network code is that I load into a Japanese server with three different continents and we all have a good game despite being literally all over the world.
I may have legit had a little moment when you played the hit marker sounds, and the world at war headshot brings me right back into the warm embrace of nostalgia :)
This game is great, I’m terrible at it and I still have a good time when I play. Because the classes work well I can just run around playing medic and hanging out with friends.
Been playing for a bit now and it is an absolute blast. I think one of the reasons is also the voice chat, I always leave a game with a goofy smile on my face from the funny interactions I will have with random people.
Garden Warfare 1 has a similar heal and revive system and I always preferred it over the Garden Warfare 2 system, even if it's still fine (and I like GW2 more than GW by a bit), so I love that this game has it too. We used to play a TON of BF:1942, and I enjoyed the classes. I'm old enough to remember when our favorite 4 player game was Warlords on the Atari 2600! XD This looks great, and I don't mind this style of graphics at all.
never have i ever regretted being part of the server tests up until now where theyve released it....the game is definitely worth every dollar(i guess phpeso in my case) that its pricetag says and i have been thoroughly enjoying every minute of gameplay...a refreshing actually functional early access game

This is what happens when a game is made by devs who actually play games and the genre of games they are making. I love how a game that looks like this handles the insanity of charging a place with a squad and seeing/hearing a barrage of bullets around you. I love having c4 with me in game because why waste the time finding a door when I can just make them. Or just removing the wall the enemy was hiding behind forcing them to fall back to another room.
Your monologue about 2000s shooters makes me kinda chuckle, because i remember how everyone was really fucking sick of them by the middle of the decade, but no one had any idea how much worse the multiplayer FPS genre was going to get yet.
One of the funniest parts is that a lot of people from the planetside community have moved over to battle bit. One of the most hardcore and stubborn FPS communities out there is playing funny block game.
I don't blame them, I've played planetside for a long time back then and as impressive as it is, it gets stale so fast due to the lack of innovation in gameplay, not helped with a dying playerbase either
The devs have actually been INSANELY transparent on what they want to change in the future. I would do some google searching for interviews or their reddit AMA. Mainly, they are outsourcing a few things like audio design, anti-cheat, and a couple other things but they currently have no plans to expand the core team. I know you may or may nott thing differently, but I think that's the correct route for this team. The bigger a team gets, the slower it moves, and the harder it gets to make changes. Part of why it succedded, is that a small group can easily talk about, decide, and get to work.
Had not seen so much weapon customization ever since Ghost Recon Future Soldier, when I played that I thought that game was the future of _gaming_ I am at the very least glad battle bit did remember that.
I found this ammo showcase to be great. The fact that I am not seeing my ammo in raw numbers made me somehow more mindful about spending my bullets and when I reload. I sometimes wonder if a healthbar would be useful though. People act really haphazardly because they cannot see how low their HP is!
Great video and somehow with only one thing mistaken, 11:05 bandages don't heal you to half health, it just stops bleeding evidenced by the blood effect on the screen that indicates the lack of health
I can't tell you how many times as the Medic class that I survived with a drop of blood after bandaging and then proceeding to chug myself full with a med kit
I always love that this game, even if unbalanced, makes you feel like it isnt. I dont complain about balance, i complain about dying in the first place from someone half the map away. Its a fun game.
yeah honestly the only balance thing that _really_ stands out is how omnipresent the Vector is now that enough people have unlocked it. You get half the lobby running medic w/ vector lmao
My favorite encounter in this game i had, was back in the playtests. I was using a T-90, and all of a sudden someone got into my tank. I didn't even realize this at first, since i was engaging snipers who were harrasing the infantry around me, and all of a sudden i started hearing carameldansen blasted through the microphone of the person who got in. and oh boy the song didnt stop even after the tank blew up.
I can't really express how clutch battlebit really has been in modern fps. We may not have known it but we needed this game out. Can finally take a moment and just enjoy an fps for the first time in a long time.
Back in school I had a rotation of 4 games and never got bored, now I have too many and they all annoy me. Xdefiant and battlebit seemed to be a return to something familiar
A year later and the game is almost dead. The gaming landscape has definitely changed, people expect every game to product a constant stream of updates or else it's dead. A game can't be a complete product on day 1 because gamers have such short attention spans and want to be part of the in group that they'll move on to the new current thing.
BattleBit reminds me of bf2 as in way outdated gfx but superior social squad/gun gameplay on a massive scale. Mean while Dice has been trying its best to cater to players who want to solo bf with next to zero interaction with team mates.
My issue is mostly how many levels there are, when you're starting out, and you see p90 is unlocked at level ONE HUNDRED AND NINTY you realize you're there for the long haul, also the recoil is... a lot starting out. M4 and AK both kick like a mule until you get attachments, attachments everyone else you're playing with already has. So it takes forever to get the ball rolling and feel like you can keep up
4:06 This is VOIP at its best 😂❤ Some days I get lobbies of gabage COD bros, but so far, most days: I've had nothing but positive experiences with both allies & enemies. 👍
Did i see that rigth at the bad early acces exampel that there was a H1Z1 copy cat game? Man, the orginial burned down in flames. How well could a clone work.
I hope people understand that the devs now basically loan money to keep the servers running. Steam only pays developers by season so the devs can only recieves their money from the more than 2m purchases at September. And afterwards i think they will have a lot more freedom on making the game better :)
The foot step audio point at the like 19 minute mark is so true. I am not used to being able to hear it from other games so even when it is just teammates around i always check my area for enemies when i hear foot steps.
welp games dead now it was fun. Devs haven't updated the game at all in 6 months game is full of basically bots and or people who have ever picked up a keyboard and sweats
Started playing this game a little over a month ago, I love it! May favorite thing is in the very beginning when it’s all quiet and we’re moving to objectives, and then as soon as we see enemies, most of the time at like C or something, I scream in proxy chat “CONTACT” and then most of the time I just die
And camos and skins are actual military style or relevant. Not the bullshit gold and black or stupid fashion trend or whatever people wants to buy as a skin. Kills the vibe and soul of a game when every player looks like a runway model in some dumb avant garde fashion statement for kids -.-
This is the only fps that has been able to keep my attention for more than an hour. So many things to unlock to progression feels consistent without feeling like they are giving you too many things. Gunplay rivals PUBG and the lack of textures in the game means you can run it on any machine. Incredible game if you enjoy shooters in the slightest.

It's a blocky Roblox game with little detail to vegetation bro. If you can't see blocky men in this silly game I think you genuinly just need eye contacts or glasses while playing or something lol. It's insanely easy to see people in this game because it's not a visual clusterfuck like modern games are.
@feryth
No, they aren't, Toyfan here is just an example of a basement dwelling Redditor trying to drum up fake controversy because people like him can't fathom how the silly block game has managed to steal most of the players away from the current BF games.
I'll never forget dying in a 60 v 60 choke point and then respawning away from the battle and the pure blissful silence i experienced
It's a nice mixture between hardcore and fast pace.
Please never stop making this love letter videos. I wasn’t playing during the 2000s shooter storm, but even I now feel nostalgic for those days. Much love.
Actually started playing this with my dad a month ago and it’s been a blast! Reminds me of the older battlefield games
Thats wholesome bro
I need to try that…
I think Bricky is the only reviewer that can actually convince me to buy a game
Cause he knows how to actually make reviews without dick sucking or being overly negative when it's not warranted
well... I bought BattleBit because of OperatorDrewski
@@Zanthorr they have improved on the technical side, they have horribly declined in gameplay and enjoyment though
Damn :(
Hope it doesn't backfire on them.
I mean, when they get paid, I guarantee they will pay back the loan plus a good amount for servers and a nice chunk in the bank.
Steam doesn’t pay them until WHEN?!
@@minibotas94962 months after purchase is when steam will give the devs their money.
i was acquainted with mr.

I love how a massive part of the gameplay review is just Bricky going :
WHY DOES FUNNY BLOCK GAME HAVE MECHANICS?!
The ability to take half mags and fill them are amazing.
i mean we kinda did that already with overfill systems (when your number of shots is based on the mag size and it uses total ammo all up.) i do think this is a more interesting visual way to show up
battlebit has been so refreshing for me to play, it’s kind of funny thinking about it. we don’t need insane graphics or microtransactions. just fun gameplay and good gun mechanics
Battlebit Remastered is what EVERYONE remembers BF3 and 4 like. But extended.
“MY BOYS SHOWED UP” is such a funny raw line it will now live rent free forever in my mind 15:20
Good to see battlebit is getting the attention it deserves
It’s crazy how when you focus on the fundamentals, you make a banger game. Insane how major studios have truly lost their way
Some of the most consistent fun ive had in a long time
I haven’t had this much fun since MW2 2009
the analogy of Tony Stark and "building this in a cave with a box of scraps" and Thanos "fine I'll do it myself" meme quotes is some very excellent points actually...
@@EhEhEhEINSTEIN Some Franchises is go a bit longer, but I'm looking from when a I believe it started going down hill. I mean, Halo 4 came out in 2012 XD
@@CmdrBrannick Good point! Also, fuck I'm old... Far Cry 3 also came out that year and then Ubisoft just re-made several more times! But BF4 came out in 2013 and wasn't really fixed til later in 2014, then I played it until 5 came out lol. 1 didn't do it for me personally, I don't hate it like a lot of the BF3 and 4 crowd though.
@@EhEhEhEINSTEIN 1 was split. Some things were great, but the weapons were rubbish as rather than changing attachments, you just got 3 of the same gun as separate ones.

Battlefield 1 headshot hit marker. There's a reason there's so many snipers, it's so they can get that spike of dopamine easier
Did you know that bricky getting sponsored by fortnite on its first week of release is what got me to that game
Poor unfortunate soul
BFBC:2 was GOATed. So many great memories. Battlebit has also rekindled the same feeling for me.
Bricky, you put into words how I've been feeling about this game. I couldnt quite put my finger on why I enjoyed it so much.
My favorite part about hello fresh ads is seeing what content creators kitchens look like
Funnily enough I find the very square bodies very satisfying to get headshots on, usually I’m not a good enough gamer to hit them.
I think one of the reasons is also the voice chat, I always leave a game with a goofy smile on my face from the funny interactions I will have with random people.
seeing Bricky happy warms my cold lump of coal some might call a "heart"
That ammo check thing is what I love about games like Rising storm 2 and Ready or Not. It breaks the habit of instantly reloading after a kill
XD
This looks great, and I don't mind this style of graphics at all.
"There is no voice acting in the game."
My brother in Christ, YOU ARE THE VOICE ACTOR.
never have i ever regretted being part of the server tests up until now where theyve released it....the game is definitely worth every dollar(i guess phpeso in my case) that its pricetag says and i have been thoroughly enjoying every minute of gameplay...a refreshing actually functional early access game
Literally the most fun I’ve had in years, basically since high school when me and the boys would play split screen. This game is affordable and can basically be played on anything. I’ll recommend it 100 times over to anyone
Let's go this game getting more attention. This game is amazing. Played since early access and never regretted it
Someone get this man a million subscribers dude please. Homie is making quality content on the double, albeit across multiple channels. Ma Bricky is one of those RUclipsrs that I feel always had integrity- even in his League content days!!! If anyone deserves at the very least a million subs, something I know he’s been working hard and gunning for way longer than he should be, it’s Bricky. Keep up the amazing content man, rooting for you.
I would love a sci-fi style single player game by these guys.
Love the voip, wherever someone cusses at a teammate it's always in a "marines or army guys shootin the shit" type of way which is funny as all hell.
Forgot to mention this entire game HAS NO MICRO-TRANSACTIONS, which was so refreshing for me when I picked this game up
Had not seen so much weapon customization ever since Ghost Recon Future Soldier, when I played that I thought that game was the future of _gaming_
I am at the very least glad battle bit did remember that.
I found this ammo showcase to be great. The fact that I am not seeing my ammo in raw numbers made me somehow more mindful about spending my bullets and when I reload. I sometimes wonder if a healthbar would be useful though. People act really haphazardly because they cannot see how low their HP is!
Dude, you are in my head. I am addicted to the beautiful chaos that is Battlebit.
I don't think we should underestimate how helpful it is for you to be able to visualize the hit boxes exactly due to well... everyone being a box.
Using JWongs "YOU'RE GONNA LEARN" clip for explaining the voice comms was golden! :D
„What game has this???“
Insurgency Sandstorm has a lot of that.
They've gave the menu a bit of love since this has come out less wacky and you know what you have equipped
you can fix the scoreboard lag by setting to show squads instead and then you can click on a squad to show the players
My favorite encounter in this game i had, was back in the playtests. I was using a T-90, and all of a sudden someone got into my tank. I didn't even realize this at first, since i was engaging snipers who were harrasing the infantry around me, and all of a sudden i started hearing carameldansen blasted through the microphone of the person who got in.
and oh boy the song didnt stop even after the tank blew up.
bout time you made a video on this game
I can't really express how clutch battlebit really has been in modern fps. We may not have known it but we needed this game out. Can finally take a moment and just enjoy an fps for the first time in a long time.
Back in school I had a rotation of 4 games and never got bored, now I have too many and they all annoy me. Xdefiant and battlebit seemed to be a return to something familiar
4:18 "You know what, your right."
Yeah im not downloading spyware that runs even while the game is closed.
Not only does Bricky do amazing reviews, but he also reviews games I'm probably going to love. I salute you Bricky.
Bricky screaming why does block game have this in an excited tone, that's a perfect summary of this entire game.

I hope people understand that the devs now basically loan money to keep the servers running. Steam only pays developers by season so the devs can only recieves their money from the more than 2m purchases at September. And afterwards i think they will have a lot more freedom on making the game better :)
Really sad the game is dying so quickly
Battlebit Review? Based. 14:57 Katamari Damacy music? Ultra Based.

Kills the vibe and soul of a game when every player looks like a runway model in some dumb avant garde fashion statement for kids -.-
I've been watching this on repeat and now i noticed "Just a Little Guy" shirt. Love it!
I was not ready for the reference in 28:04 ! 🤣
i still rmember how much this dude was in my child hood, during the league days lol, good work brick keep it up brotha glad to see you doing so well
I like how battlebit is the shooter that brings a lot of "hardcore" shooter elements to the mainstream like I hoped Squad would do
This is the only fps that has been able to keep my attention for more than an hour. So many things to unlock to progression feels consistent without feeling like they are giving you too many things. Gunplay rivals PUBG and the lack of textures in the game means you can run it on any machine. Incredible game if you enjoy shooters in the slightest.
