- DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT - Regulator (Live in Plovdiv 2017). Taken from the album "Ocean Machine - Live At The Ancient Roman Theatre Plovdiv", out July 6th, 2018. Order now: DevinTownsendP...
For folks wondering the bassist is the original bassist from the Ocean Machine album, who had an accident and can't walk, sadly the drummer passed away.
Your nickname is adequate. Thank you for this much needed clarification. Have a glorious day.
Wise Man, Wise Words thank you 😊
I was wondering about that, cheers for the info.
Not exactly an accident. Squid has a severe form of Multiple Sclerosis which is a terrible condition and he was a brave man to come out all the way to Bulgaria and do this show. He deserves the upmost respect.
My sister also suffers from MS and she has times where she can barely walk at all and everything. Makes me sad and angry that she has it.
His control over his voice just gets better as he ages. It's rare to see. Love this man and his music
I hope I get to see him live before I die.
Well you won't be seeing DTP...
I also do hope that, I had the fortune to attend 2 dtp shows and both were a lifetime experience
I can die calm,i was in Plovdiv ;) There was fans from all the countries following Devin everywere!
Dev says March 2019 new music and tour!
yeah, plovidv was devin town for a few days! It was such a wonderfull atmosphere. Drinking beer with people from australia, south america, canada and countries all around europe only there for this show, was great.
Genius. Criminally underrated performer and composer. He continually blows me away, even when performing his older material I've heard countless times. Finally got to see him live last year and he did not disappoint. Hevy Devy Forever!
I wouldnt say underrated just cause hes almost unanimously praised
Id say "underappreciated" or "underground"
*anytime someone says "criminally underrated"
You know they're most certainly OVERREACTING
Calm down, cupcake.
@@ladariusjohnson709 Not really - when you look at the mass market garbage that sells millions of records, meanwhile an artist of his magnitude is relatively unknown. I'm not OVERREACTING. He deserves more recognition.
Such an assault to the senses. I adore this man so much.
Amanda Laggan, got to see at Red Rocks here in Colorado. An absolute BLAST!
What I love about Devin is that he could play someone's cellar and would put the same amount of energy that he puts in large festivals.
I was at his concert in Zagreb and expected just him going through the song list like a great live musician he is but really without any added pzazz. Boy was I wrong, he came straight out of the gate pumped up like he was playing the greatest arena ever, made you wonder how he manages to make live performances even better than his studio albums, and when he wasn't entertaining the crowd musically, he did it by effectively doing standup.
To top it all up, shook hands with the crowd and engaged in chit-chat.
If a genre were to have it's ambassador, then Devin would be that of metal.
What a performer and what a guy.
That's Dev for ya. Even at this show he was going around the lower ring shaking hands after each set. First time I saw him in Toronto, I got to shake his hand and exchange a few words. I think there's a reason people travelled from all over the world, including myself, to see this show. Dev's one of those guys who once you're in, you're all the way fucking in, and he is too.
You’ve liked perfectly summed up the reason I’ve seen him live more than any other band I’ve seen. The man simply delivers beyond expectations, to the point where I feel satisfied with however much I’m spending to travel to see him live knowing full well it’ll be worth every cent.
Yeah I was there and actually shook his hand. I told him: "You fucking rock man!" and he was like: "No, you fucking rock man!" xD
What a great guy he is. He does it all for the audience. A great guy and great performer. A real perfectionist.
I was there too, best day of my life, cried like a bitch during acoustic Deadhead haha. Shook his hand later and said: "Thank you." and replied with: "No, thank you!" Absolute legend and most complete artist of our time!
@Fellow Traveler - I have yet to see Devin live and hope to do so one day. It's on my list! I know of another "group" that is so much like how you described Devin. They tour around the States and have done some shows in Europe now too. They are Camille and Kennerly, "The Harp Twins". They play harp metal, covers and originals. I was amazed how how in touch they are with their fans. Very grateful to play shows for their fans. Meet and greet before and after their shows, do stand up during their set and get the audience involved. I hope they go far in life as they are such beautiful, talented women that make everyone feel like an old friend. If you have never heard of them, please check them out. Outstanding talent.
That guitar note at 3:59 was just so heavenly! :O
Ryan wrote on his personal page about how much energy he put into this performance, to the point he feared he couldn't finish the second set. Look at that energy--he's just bursting and slamming those drums! Great performance and brilliant mixing.
Blair Williams mixing is REALLY off unless you're a drummer which you sound like you could be
WeWantYouToStay are you happy that you decided to come over to a positive comment and insult the creator? Is that what DTP is about? Have you paid attention to any of Devin or Ryan's messages in the past decade?
If you think the mix is off, write Devin and talk to him. Don't come and harass me. Devin spent months working on this mix. I think it's great. If you don't like it, enumerate your issues with Dev and see if he agrees.
Totaly agree on that, I was there in plovdiv and the mix ist rly great! Cant wait for the full set. This video made me gooseflesh once again. One of the moments in life I`ll never forget
WeWantYouToStay because you are the one who decides when a mix is off or not?
I like it...
Ryan's a Fucken beast one of the best drummers around!
Listen to this after Night while driving in the rain, you will feel the colours of the wind I swear.
What a beautiful venue for a beautiful band!!!
Absolutely agreed, and the audience was wonderful as well and sang surprisingly good.
we flew our family over to see him perform beautifully at the beautiful venue in lovely Plovdiv Bulgaria - the oldest city in Europe and one of the oldest cities in the world. The evening was un forgettable
exactly
Yes playing at a roman antique theater
Listening to Devin sing, scream, shred, shrill or doing anything really, whatever music he's a part of...eases the worst pain, snaps me out of any bad funk or mood. Incredible vocalist-insanely talented musician. 😍
The fact that they're playing Ocean Machine (the greatest metal album of all time, possibly the greatest piece of music ever written) in its entirety almost guarantees a 5-star rating from me. So far, the picture, visuals, audio are spectacular. So hyped up for this! Anytime Dev releases something it's like a second Christmas or birthday.
My thoughts exactly. First DT album I ever listened to and still my favorite.
Devin siempre y será un genio . su música mostrará un nivel muy superior . Nivel Dios
First time seeing this video. This was my jam in the SYL days. Mind blowing how the musical depth is made. Can really blow speakers listening to SYL and DT. Also had no idea the bassist had MS. Life is too nuts. Heading back into my bunker another 10 years. Hope SYL gets back together. Good luck humans!
Wouldn't you rather see this at Superbowl half time than fucking Maroon 5? Millions of minds blown.
Props to Squid (the bass player sitting down). M.S is a bitch but that guy came to perform and friggin' crushed it!
Also, anyone else sing this at full volume when Dev says "SING IT!" ?
Yay! I am in the video not once but twice lol!
4:18 I am looking so serious lol 😂
The Adventures of Kate To The Rescue how much did all that cost a person?
terria 88 If you are asking me if I paid someone money to pan the camera over my way, I did not.
The Adventures of Kate To The Rescue lol no I'm referring to the trip in general. Seems very exotic.
The Adventures of Kate To The Rescue so sick! Glad you guys had an amazing time and made it home safe. Thanks for the response.
But u look seriously beautiful...😊😊😘😘
Holy shit that groove had me fired up!~!!!
One of the most talented humans out there..
This man is so talented it makes me want to slap babies. If I can't see this man play live before I, or he, dies; I'll cry. Don't stop being hevy, Devy. 🤘🏻
I feel you, man. I'll more than cry. Just resign myself to a dark, wet cave.
@@AmandaLaggan I may join you in said cave if we don't succeed.
@@xMRxZEROx There's plenty of room!

There goes that old feeling, I'm free again!
It was truly a glorious fuckin' show.
Devin, we love you.
Ocean Machine was a magical album. Thank you Devin for giving it it's own live show.
I've always said Devin is not of this world but sent here to show us what Heaven is. 💙🤘🔥
Amazing musician 👍🏻🤘🏻👌🏻
Hit like before even hearing a note
David O'Donnell nice profile pic :p
One of my favorite songs, from my favorite album of all time. I've been privileged to see Devy several times, and to have sponsored his first-ever US solo performance. This show rules on SO many levels.
That's glorious! Take my money
GENIALNE !!!
The infravalorated metal genius,,,I saw three times in live shows...I hope that I see the fourth next...
you´re awesome devin! the best performance of this song!! great vocals you´re god! greetings from argentina! i need see you live!
Bringing back memories of the gig, can see myself in the crowd 🤘
Shadow Mantra Steve I see myself too! @4:18
Such an epic show!
i'm envy to you guys, Devin had never visited my country.
It's funny how this album came to be known as 'Ocean Machine', when the album is actually named Biomech. Ocean Machine is the name of the band, be it short lived.
Well I guess when he rereleased it under his own name he decided to name it Ocean Machine so that's probably why it's interpreted that way! :D
Yeah, I have the original pressing of the CD and it's very clearly got Biomech listed as the album title.
That's why I've always presumed the title of the repressing under Devy's own name was Ocean Machine: Biomech, and people were just shortening it haha
Sound and video is very nice on this.. killer!
🎵I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it. I'm about to lose control and I think I like it🎵
This is so epic... 🖤
Okay...the production is stunning!
And the interpretation of Regulator in this live-performance...interesenting!
Video gave me goosebumps almost as big as when I saw it in the flesh :D
EPIC... all these guys are rare quality musicians... and obviously good peoples.
omfg... flat-out incredible. (.. swoooooning) 😮😮😮
This is magical.
OMG!!!!!!!! love this man ,this project, what a SOUND!!!
No words... Music genius
I keep coming back to this. What an epic performance!!! Gotta go place my order for the DVD.
How can I like this even MORE!!!!!
Maravilloso...
Heard this gem on WSOU the other day. So happy they played it. Ab Fab!
это что-то нереальное!
drum sound is insane
Total fucking awsome
I loving this band!
pure talent
Cannot wait for my copy of this to arrive
Logan Newbanks same!!!
When does it release?
Early July is the US release
This sounds HUGE! 👊🏻🐺
AMAZING.
Heeeaaaaaavvvvvyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fkin epic..i love this song
great video editing!
Great!
I was lucky enough to see DTP 4 times,I really hope if not as DTP that they play together on tour again to some capacity, there's too much aurally perfect "lightning in a bottle" there for it to remain unused.
bloodsling Devin has said new music and tour in March of 2018.
As for the rest of the band the drummer and the bass player (Beav and Ryan) have gone on to join the former bass player and guitarist from Strapping Young Lad (Byron and Jed) to form a new heavy metal band.
They brought on singer Jon Howard and are calling their project Imonolith.
So the music will go on just in different ways and under new names! ❤
Yep I've heard snippets of the Imonolith music, not my cup of tea,too much dry lung, good on the guys for doing something else though no doubt it'll do well.
The infamous Squid Vicious is onstage with Dr.Skinny again! It's awesome to see.
Awesome Performance!
But MSJ's Keyboard is much too loud in the beginning.
I noticed on a lot of live recordings in the past few years it's kinda been like that.
Yep, this song is all about guitar (RIFFS) and vocals and they're the quietest things in the mix :) so fucking frustrating
Ronny Dittrich
Yup, I suspect we are hearing a 5.1 mix here instead of the stereo track therefore certain things are poking out and others subdued, only way to tell is to listen to the cd versions which can only be stereo.
If there’s an issue with those then this release is in deep shit
VaiRoth paid £60 for it as well
Jimbus Rift yep and considering how perfectly produced the original album is
UUUUUnicooooooo fantasticooooooo
Magnífico!
OH YES
this is fucking amazingly awesome.
I've found a way through the Ocean Machines
When it is time, we will know what it means...
Holy shit this is amazing.
Clean Screemer
Nerdy metalheads of the world unite!
Whoa
That is Ryan Van Poederooyen on drums
gh0strider2006 duh
The Adventures of Kate To The Rescue Hey he is a very underrated drummer
He's too underrated! His drumming is possibly the best I've ever seen and his out look on life is incredible!
Just my experience: I used Remo heads and while they were great for about two weeks, that's it.. their life was gone. Evans heads tonality are consistently consistent and their longevity is so much better. Control is so much better with Evans.
That was fucking sick !
Dev could make a half cheek sneak sound metal as fuck
I'm FREE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!
Has anyone here heard of 'The Machinist'; it's all instrumental music but it sounds similar to this. I am curious if Devin or this band had anything to do with 'The Machinist' instrumental music, I think it's some kind of project or collaboration, without singing. One of the songs is 'Zero By Division'.
i just discovered this band and they have a lot of records, anyone have a recomendation on which one to start?
ReggaeMuffin Addicted, Ocean Machine, Terria and Accelerated Evolution would be nice for starting.
💞💕💘
Motherfucker God. Just fuckin' Amazing.
2:37 Om om om om!
Clicked on this expecting to hear some trippy, swirly, dreamscape ambient guitar type music played on his ocean machine delay pedal. 😆
This made me cry it was so damn bitchen.
I don't know why I noticed the Bullet Club shirt at 1:14
I'm looking for myself and my mates in the crowd, but my eyes keep finding the Bullet Club shirt instead.
🤘😎👍Y-E-S!
Keyboards far too loud
Which is odd because the opposite is far more common a problem! But I agree, within this context they needed to be more subdued.
VaiRoth
Louder than that kick drum?
The synth is really loud in this.
Now how the heck is he doing guitar vocals and drums at the same time??
REGULATOR...
...mount up.
Brian Bitner YG 1 right?
First thing I thought haha
vote #1 ryan for GOD!!!
Anyone else get mad blue balls from that lack of epic scream at 3:10?
I understand that this was during the second set of the night but of all the songs that had an orchestra, I wish this was one of them. It would have sounded so awesome instead of having that keyboard.
This is awesome, yet I think the Album version is better, but live is still great
Are you regulated?
This is good, but doesn't hold a candle to the 2006 live performance on Synchestra bonus DVD
I like both the Safe Zone version and this one, I feel like it's really comparing apples to oranges.
39 people are irregulators
anyone now where beave is, and why his replacement is sitting down?
Trent *know and Ryan Miller he was sitting to the left of the stage with his smoking hot gf and Dave Young's wife watching the Ocean Machine part of the show.
Devin brought in the original bass player that played bass on the Ocean Machine album 👍
And the original bass player known as Squid was in a wheelchair.
Thank you! That's really cool of devy
Vocals need more volume in the mix,i hope they can hear that..Apart from that,i wait patiently for this release so i'll buy it with great pleasure. Devin is god.
3:16 Matt Tuck?
They look so old. I like rock icons who die young.
Wtf
