I am a professional fisherman, I have fished all my life! Thank you my friend for the wonderful reminder of my hard work. Now I'm disabled, but I often want to go back to the sea!
As a foreigner living here full time, I truly appreciate foreign vloggers like yourself and Kyle. You guys are authentic and show the true beauty of Philippines. ❤

A vast deep ocean. A huge school of tuna. The amazingly raw, intense and hard life of this crew of skilled Filipino fishermen. And one curious British vlogger who took a boat ride to an adventure of a lifetime. Anselm/Kumander D, your video CAPTURED several vignettes of the life at sea that these fishermen and their families will TREASURE forever. It's a GIFT you've given them - documenting their livelihood. For your viewers like me, it was a feast and a treat. Next time I see a tuna at the Public Market, I'll remember the hardwork of the CREW that brought it there. A new APPRECIATION indeed.
KD, one of your absolute best blogs yet. Dozens of “foreign” vloggers in the Philippines now, but only a tiny fraction, maybe no others, could have done this episode. I’m not even sure I can use the word “foreign” anymore when referring to you and the Philippines. This is where you really excel…showing hard working, everyday, Filipinos with a compassion, care, and camaraderie no one else can beat. More like this please.
What a great vlog! I bet not a lot of Filipinos see how hard these fishermen work. They deserve to be recognized. Thanks for trusting your camera to the diver to take underwater footage. He did an amazing video. Your content for this vlog is awesome. I truly respect these hardworking Filipinos that I won't ever make "hangyo" with the price of fish knowing how much effort is involved in catching them. Looking forward to more adventures.
I knew it!. Kumander D can make a very good documentary. And what I like about this is his ability to make a personal connection that makes the crew warm up to him and talk more on the personal level. Many people can make documentaries but only few can personally connect

A master of travel vloggers, I have followed your journey ever since the very eary vlogs. Thank you Anselm for the inspiration to create Drew's Travels, documenting province life in Southern Leyte.
Out of all the videos I've watched, this one impressed me the most. I admire your effort and talent in telling stories about these legendary fishermen. This is not a normal video content, it's even better than the Discovery Channel, the effort here is truly amazing.
Being from General Santos I’ve always know Tuna and Fishing to be the main industry of the city early in my childhood I vaguely remember being aboard a Fishing vessel and seeing how they caught fish using nets. This is the first video that gives me a prospective of what it’s like to Fish tuna in deep water far away from the coast line and occasionally facing the elements is a different league from those who fish closer to shore!
I can attest to the fact that the people of the Philippines are very, very special. I have done international trade with them for the past 40 years. They are hard working proud people that have earned my utmost respect.
I have eaten tuna from a can all my life. Sometimes I forget the incredible hardworking men who make it possible for me to enjoy a fish that I love half way around the world. Funny to think that I will be calling GenSan my home in a few years. Thanks for the great vlog!
Amazing coverage of real, tough work out there to provide fish on our tables! These men are examples of pure grit, effort, and camaraderie. They work flawlessly in a system that regardless how manual some parts are, is fluid enough to ensure success. And the dolphin popping up behind you in one shot was awesome! Thanks for bringing this to us. Can't wait for the next one!

Thank you for lifting his spirits and putting a big smile on his face 😊
This is timely. In England and Ireland, there is a growing call from fishing boat operators to loosen immigration requirements to allow Filipino Fishermen, not just seafarers, to work over there. Apparently, even before the Brexit, and further compounded by the pandemic, the regular source for migrant fishermen, Portugal and Greece, have dwindled.
@@Ben-rw7wg To be fair, there are fishing boat companies that ARE paying their migrant fishermen from the Philippines and other nationalities with extensive commercial fishing experience well. The British government's issue is with the language barrier. And this video somewhat sheds some light on their concern.
