I seriously love that last part where the dude is like "why don't you try?" to Ashima, not expecting she can do it then he's like holy shit this little girl is strong
I used to do bouldering and did for a while before a moved town and discovered that my new town did not have a bouldering centre, only a rock climbing centre. I loved climbing ans decided to try it anyway. Surprise surprise, I found out I am not the biggest lover of heights! Even tho I have the technique and strength to climb most of the walls, I haven't finished one yet because I usually get scared of the height when near the top. So I took it as a personal challenge, not to let this fear control me and continue to climb anyway. Each day one stone higher. Yesterday I climbed to the top of one wall for the first time! Amazing!
I totally understand, when I first started climbing, just the feeling of the ceiling getting closer as I climbed higher freaked me out! Now I don't care and I love it! Totally got over my fear! The one thing I can't overcome is the fear of lead falling....
Trust me dude, I freaked out at 6ft up the first time. Now climbing 15m walls. It is just a case of getting used to it and gaining confidence in your equipment. I assure you, my fear was BAD! I used to get vertigo climbing down from the loft on a ladder. Stick at it :)
"When I first went to the climbing gym I was terrible but I loved it." Same here! I'm climbing for about 8 months now and I'm getting better and better. It is like an addiction!
Becoming quite obsessed with climbing videos. Watching people climb get's me so amped up, I think this sport is for me. Such an awesome mixture of mind and body. Great video.
Oh my gosh I had regionals there RIGHT WHERE VASYA VOROTNIKOV CLIMBED OMG OMG OMG I CLIMBED RIGHT WHERE HE CLIMBED!!!! I'm like freaking out right now...
I am having such a serious nostalgia trip here! I watched this video when i got home from climbing for the first time, I was so psyched about climbing back then. And since then i have been climbing for 15h a week.
I climb at Western Carolina University and every time someone ask me what I do I could never find a video that properly expressed it. Well, The Insiders has given me that and given me inspiration to perfect my skills. Rock climbing is definitely an underestimated sport. I am glad to say I am a climber.
Excellent film with all the climbers showing amazing strength and technique. I smashed my ankle on a wall 11 days ago and needed two plates to sort the break so watching these amazing climbers is as close as I am getting to climbing for about the next four months :p
i felt like crying when i saw this video!! climbing is so beautiful!! i can totally understand that 'feeling' they speak of..when u feel one with the rock and forget everything else... i need to climb right now!!!
I've recently become obsessed with rock climbing. I'm definitely not the best, and don't plan to become the best, but it is such an individualistic sport and it's unlike any other sport. It's physically and mentally challenging and always makes you want to progress. Even though I am just beginning, I already feel welcome to this family of people that do this; everyone is so happy and motivating and never negative to each other, it seems like a family and I'm happy to be a part of it now hahaha.
+GICking Are you serious? Look at the skill they have! Check out Ashima's recent videos and interviews. They didn't choose her because shes pretty, they chose her because she's badass.
I'd like to climb but I know I wouldn't be able to lift myself off the ground. I've spent most of my life in front of a computer so I'm weak, skinny and without stamina.
Go to a gym and just climb the easiest routes they have, when those routes become too easy go up a grade. Do that consistently 2 or 3 times a week and you will be shocked at the progress you will make. When I first started climbing I was pathetically weak as well, but 6 months later im pushing 5.11d routes and making steady progress. Its an amazing hobby that has changed my life for the better and helped me to meet new people. Try it!
The first 3 times I want to a climbing center I didn't even finish a route, but it's amazing how quickly you make progress when you stick at it, just don't give up! :D
It's funny how it looks so easy when you see these people climb, you're like: Oh I can do that too if I practice a bit! But then you're climbing, and you realize you can hardly do a 5A. So I have so much respect for these guys, and hope to ever come close to their level.
Watching Ashima climb so intuitively at such a young age is very inspiring. It just reinforces why climbing needs to be an olympic sport: everyone has a natural ability to climb, just like running, walking, jumping, etc. Some folks are clearly better at it, though (looking at you, Paul) :) What a great video!!
I have been thinking about climbing for about 1 year now, and now I'm absolutely sure: I'm starting! :D I want the feeling they describe here, the feeling of that you are just weightless, and can just "flow" up the wall. Aw man, can't wait :P
Excellent quality video and I love the the fact that Bigup stepped outside of the bounds from most climbing videos. All of these climbers are amazing but Ashima is exceptional for her age. I look forward to many more climbing videos of her from Bigup in the future.
Man I watched it like 10 years ago for the first time and still watching from time to time
I seriously love that last part where the dude is like "why don't you try?" to Ashima, not expecting she can do it then he's like holy shit this little girl is strong
First watched this video in 2011 when I was 13, the next day I went climbing, and have never stopped
This must be the tenth time I watched this, seriously
I know right
+Luciella Ann it's my favourite climbing video
Only the tenth?
Children have a higher ratio of muscle per kg body weight
Kids can do some serious shit

Same thing! :)
You WILL gain confidence in your equipment. Double check you and your partner every time, climb on.
Jamille Vicente That's rock climbing. Gotta break down the fear.
"When I first went to the climbing gym I was terrible but I loved it."
Same here! I'm climbing for about 8 months now and I'm getting better and better. It is like an addiction!
Are you still climbing
This film is shot so so nicely. I love the exaggerated camera movement as the climber ascends the wall. Very effective.
Sometimes I watch this just to get a good cry about my life in before I go to bed.
Great video! Thanks guys for sharing Climbing passion all around the world!
Becoming quite obsessed with climbing videos. Watching people climb get's me so amped up, I think this sport is for me. Such an awesome mixture of mind and body. Great video.
Dude does anyone else's palms get sweaty from watching people climb?
Chalk?

Jake Ruth Can confirm. Palms sweating. Need rocks to climb.
Me. Sweating like crazy.
That upside down toe hold was fucking insane~!
It's called a bat hang if you wanna look up more videos on youtube :)

Not Totally Unfunny
That whole climb was totally amazing, and the toe hold was the pinnacle!
I just started indoor climbing, It is such an amazing sport!
Thanx for uploading this inspiring video guys! :)
This video brought me to the climbing gym. I'm climbing for 10 years now!
The climb that started at 8:30 looks really fun!
climbing inside is fun, but nothin beats the great outdoors!
Indoor climbing is just masturbation.

I am having such a serious nostalgia trip here!

I climb, but my gym seems like a playground compared to that, 😢😃

My hands sweat when I watch this
Try watching "Free solo" and let's talk about sweaty hands then :D
Awesome segment, superbly filmed.
they are really soo sooo strong.
WOW! what an inspirational video. Thank you for taking the time and effort to make this happen. Amazing.
I can't believe all these famous climbers where in my home gym
Excellent film with all the climbers showing amazing strength and technique. I smashed my ankle on a wall 11 days ago and needed two plates to sort the break so watching these amazing climbers is as close as I am getting to climbing for about the next four months :p
i just admire these climbers
i felt like crying when i saw this video!! climbing is so beautiful!!
i can totally understand that 'feeling' they speak of..when u feel one with the rock and forget everything else...
i need to climb right now!!!
Feels good to know that Paul said he was horrible makes me have some hope.
When he says he was horrible he probably means he could climb 5.10 on his very first day ...
Andrea Zavanella
just let him dream on
I could do 5.10 within my first week. It's not that hard. After a few months I'm now doing 5.11 c
***** sorry. I didn't mean to be. No need to be rude, mate.
It's all good. I was bragging a bit. Haha

You need to fucking love this :-)
Great vid about indoor climbing!! very well filmed and edited! I did just start out in climbing, but I love it already!
My palms are sweating. Wow
Knees weak arms are heavy
that cut at the end Straight NASTY took it like a champ!
3:49 8 years old and doing a flag, I feel useless
harbolkn that is absolutely ridiculous, her weight to strength ratio must be atrociously great haha
Flagging is one of the first techniques you learn though
Reanna hall wrong type of flagging. Flagging is a core exercise where you hold your entire body straight from your hands.
This is awesome. After watching this I was able to finish my climbing project in the team I'm in.
that young asian girl is very good
Ashima
The New York Times has called her a Bouldering Phenom
Lets hope she keeps climbing at that level.
I'm seriously thinking of starting with indoor climbing, this is one heck of a inspirational video!
Did you ever start, if so how are you doing now
Is it a criteria that female climbers have to be good looking? Most girls in these types of videos are quite pretty
+GICking Are you serious? Look at the skill they have! Check out Ashima's recent videos and interviews. They didn't choose her because shes pretty, they chose her because she's badass.
+GICking Considering they are near the top of the game for a very physically intense sport, the looks sort of go hand-in-hand.
+Popcornio Fair enough point
+GICking i think everyone would look pretty/beautiful when they are especially fit and strong.
Ashima is a bikini model
@FirkinFilms muchas gracias from mexico the sky is the limit thank you, your video is amazing
I'd like to climb but I know I wouldn't be able to lift myself off the ground. I've spent most of my life in front of a computer so I'm weak, skinny and without stamina.
Thats why you should start training small with weights and your own body weight, and progressively start climbing higher and harder😊

Everyone's gotta start somewhere. Just give it a try and have fun with it. I couldn't lift myself off the ground when I first started either. Enjoy!
The first 3 times I want to a climbing center I didn't even finish a route, but it's amazing how quickly you make progress when you stick at it, just don't give up! :D
It's all about the technique. Firstly you have to enjoy it, then it comes automatically.
I began this week and I'm sooooo in love!!!
Shit my pants :)

Climbers of this sport must have extremely strong fingers?
climbers of the sport of climbing do have strong tendons and forearms
Sure, you have to have strong fingers, but I feel like it’s more of a whole body thing, y’know?

I've only been to a rock gym once and this video has pretty much set me on going back very soon.
This is the most beautiful gym I've ever seen

I'm watching this during the lockdown in UK. I can't wait for my local indoor center to reopen 😣😣

28 dislikes? How can you actually dislike this short film?! This gets me so psyched for climbing again every time I see this! :3

This climbing gym is awesome. I'm so jealous.
@ Arrygoo - It's Central Rock in Worcester, MA. Josh (who is on screen at the 1 min. mark) is the lead route-setter. It's a great gym.
