Psuffix climbers don’t necessarily have strong hands. Alex honnold tested his grip strength and his strongest was 98 pounds. He wouldn’t even be able to close a CoC #1 at that level of grip strength. If you think you have a strong grip, buy a set of CoC grippers and prepare to be humbled. If you can close a 2 on video I’ll personally PayPal you 20 bucks. I closed the 2, but I’m not a climber. Just have a good grip.

Allan Zhou yup, comp climbers and boulderers have incredible grip; more than in pretty much any other sport, climbers get insane crimp, pinch and slab strength. It’s funny that guy mentioned honnald because they did the same test on Megos and he was unreasonably strong.

Mark Valeriote I've been rock climbing since I was 8, eventually you get to the point where you can hold yourself up on a slanted wall with the tips of your fingers and only one hand... it always feels like defying gravity and it's not painful while you're doing it, but after you get down it hurts a ton.

If this isn't a sport, I don't know what would possibly qualify as one! It requires great strength, stamina, precision, spatial awareness and just pure practiced skill to be able to climb like this.

Sorry for the late response but... thank you. In daily talk I still call it a sport myself just because I understand that most people view sports as "physical activity". I think a good parallel is "parkour". Most people don't call it a sport but understand it as needing insane amounts of dedication and talent.
@@Empika its really about weight.. muscle is denser than fat. so the more you have the more weight your lifting.. if they were moving things, that would require strength. but they are only moving themselves, tone yes, but balanced. edited to point out they are scrawny versus someone who has the strength to move or lift something
I just tried bouldering for the first time. It was super fun and felt like great exercise but it was also really hard and made my whole body ache. I couldn’t shake hands with someone due to how hurt my hands were xD
