I can't make this up lol, I'm a Canadian uni student and I had a paper due yesterday, and this one ebook I wanted wasn't available in my country, so I tried a bunch of nord servers and ended up using Norway and that unlocked my book 🤣🤣🤣
Ngl I ended up submitting it incomplete but still, papa nord was there for me :')
Hey, love the vid! Would apprecizte if there was a link to the other video on Sondre channel (if it is up yet)?
Thanks
Sondre should be a regular on the channel, I would love to see you two climb together more. just have a regular sesh with a low-climb-IQ superhuman, get him outside when he's ready, literally show him the ropes.
Do we have to report this to the police? I'm pretty sure he was held hostage when he had to promote this is in the beginning of the video. I think ... they drugged him ! I hope he is save now....
Using NordVPN you trust NordVPN as company with all your security. I would not
Had such a great time connecting with you man 😊 Let’s do it again soon 💪🔥
Magnus let's pin him so we all find his channel more easily :)
dude you are huge
Subscribe to Sondre everybody, do it now
bro no way you are human gotdamn
DUUUUDE YOU’RE AMAZING
This is exactly how I imagined what Norway's strongest man looks like.
Samee
I thought he did a face swap with his gf or something but then I thought they both had men's pecks~
@@rage8kage XD
Missing the ferocious Viking beard tho
Why are you lying so obviously
Two Norwegians communicating in English is too funny to watch as a Norwegian 😂
It also can be for non-Norwegians 😉
And yet, here you are---in ENGLISH! 🤣😂😅
Id love to speak ur language but why do i need to when mine is the the most efficient clearly.
@@shmit3237 If you have to ask why learning another language than your own might be worth the effort … well …
@@shmit3237LMAO English is definitely not the most efficient language. It's just the one currently that'll make you the most money because English speaking advertisements pay more.
First time watching this channel and Magnus's grip and upperbody strength is CRAZY he makes it look so effortless.
it's INSANE. 14:39 he just hand stands like he's going to pick up a newspaper in the driveway.
I think there's a lot of people watching that don't fully comprehend the ridiculous finger and upper body strength that he has. And there's plenty of top tier climbers even stronger than him.
I met Sondre a couple of years ago while both of us worked in a gymnastics centre in Trondheim and this guy is so much more than one arm muscle ups and insane strength. He is incredibly smart and dedicated! He had just started his PhD in electrical engineering at NTNU and actually learned Mandarin after studying abroad for a short periode. Big brain, big heart and big biceps. So cool to see you on this channel!
That's interesting never would have thought that about him. Now I want to see day in a life or a video more about him.
When he started talking about eliminating as many variables as possible I had a feeling he had some kind of formal education but wasn't expecting PhD level! Crazy how he manages to do both sports and education at such a high level!
Electrical engineering school is brutal. Undergrad destroyed my mental health, can't even begin to imagine grad school lol
@some guy good point. Brutal, but good point. It may be too late for who you're telling that to tho.
PhD my ass
Shows how technique is just as important as strength when it comes to climbing
Along with that, finger strength, and just strength in general, for climbing is also oddly specific, and doesn't seem to transfer very well from other sports.
It’s more like 80% technique to be hinest
@@Coookr It definitely depends on holds and angle. You could get up something nutty hard with no technique and insane finger strength (through the kinetic chain). No amount of technique will compensate for that, but equally you're not getting up a hard slab without insane technique.
climbing is very specific strength. If he climbed a few times in short succession, his strength would shoot up just due to neural adaptation. Imagine squatting for the first time. You couldn't squat very much even if your legs were very strong because of the new movement.
Technique is the foundation. Strength's what you build on top of it. The better the one, the better the other. Not just climbing, just about every physical endeavor.
This guy looks like a Fantasy RPG avatar.
I love this video because a lot of people focus too much on thinking they need to get stronger to get better at climbing, but this showcases that if you're not at a very advanced level of climbing, technique is FAR more important. Sondre is already a great climber, but you can clearly see his limiting factors are certainly not strength-related.
If you're in your first few years of climbing, focus on actually learning to climb. You'll get stronger naturally, but more importantly you'll learn the technique, intuition, and muscle memory that it takes to climb hard routes. If your focus is to get better at climbing, then strength training should be more of a supplemental afterthought.
Briefly expressive,thanks
I was surprised to see Eddie Hall did better than this guy tho
Hehe, I'm at the beginning of climbing and strength and body mass definitely seem to play a huge role.
Can only do a 2-3 climbs before it's time to go home because my grip is so shot and my forearms are done. I can't wait to get over that bump and start learning more technique.
@@Koraxus He's doing much harder problems than Eddie Hall did.
@@Koraxus No eddie Hall started from beginner walls and that made him look good since it's 3/4 of the video until i think he got to 5a.
Sonde is starting from 6a and tries much harder climb, i realized that in the video as it made him look bad and incapable to do anything which is misleading,
How humble these both gentlemen are!!! Loved their conversation and mutual respect ❤️
Scandinavians are generally, not arrogant people.

@@johnssmith4005 you mean hollywood viking-movie beard
Exactly like me, apart from the body.
Wow. It’s not everyday I see something that I didn’t think was possible in the fitness world. Those body weight feats are absolutely insane.
No joke, yesterday I was searching for a tutorial on handstands and found Sondre's channel. Immediately wondered how he would perform at climbing because dude's core strength is absolutely insane. And Magnus delivered this video today. Talk about coincidences..
Its that RUclips algorithm you're being watched 😎
Ur an npc
the universe made this video for you my friend.
haha that's great! I only found Magnus' channel a couple of weeks ago and I'm hooked.
Core strength plays much less of a role in calisthenics than people think (and climbing too, for that matter). Sondre's strongest point is his pushing strength, especially his absurd shoulder strength in bent-arm moves ; of course his core strength is good, but that's not where the money is made.
I stumbled across this channel, and Magnus is so humble and polite and has no ego at all. I have to say, as an American, I am so glad that there are channels like this, without any ego or arrogance. The humble attitude seems to be missing in many American RUclipsrs.
I love how wholesome these dudes are to one another. Teaching each other. Learning from each other. Always seeming stoked for each other.
10/10 would Europeans again.
No way this collab just happened. been following you Magnus for a couple years and Sondre has taken me on a handstand journey this past year and a half. So stoked for this!
its the exact same for me... I couldnt believe it when i saw the thumbnail
It takes you a year and a half to learn how to do a handstand? Canada sucks. They restrict their people from self defense Trudeau is an idiot

The hardest problem I’ve ever done is a v7 and I don’t think I’m that strong (in comparison), I can barely do 1 arm pull ups with support from the other arm. But seeing this, it shows how truly understanding your body and technique is so important.
I think finger strength is probably the biggest bottle neck. No amount of body weight training on a bar/rings will ever train your fingers to the degree that climbing will.
'i can barely do 1 arm pull ups'. thats pretty strong mate.
@@rorycannon7295 with support from the other arm, without I can’t. To climb a v7 you need some physical ability, but relative to this guy, I’m not strong. We can climb the same grade cuz of my 2 years more experience than him was all I was saying, it’s interesting and kinda made me proud of myself

this is one of the most interesting videos ive seen in like the last 5 years
seeing the different kinds of strength one can achieve and still struggle with a different one give me a lot of confidence
Great video Magnus.
Nice
Excellent
Super
Yes
Very good
Unreal how Magnus achieved a near 10 second handstand hold with great rebalancing capabilities after just a few tries and cues from Sondre. Really shows how athletic he is and how good his proprioception is to start of with: very few people could learn this as fast.
I thought the same. Magnus could blow an artistic gymnast' s mind due his proprioception, spacial orientation and speed reflex. I' d love to see him attempting MAG, especially rings and *horizontal bar* As the cherry on top of the cake, Magnus has naturally hyperextended knees so imagine what an elegant lines!
@@sebumpostmortem I think Magnus barely had balance training, but he have extremely good body coordination, surely he could learn fast, not very fast but faster than average person
Edit: magnus actually trained handstand years sgo
What ever happened to Magnus Scheving? From that show lazy town? He was magnificent
I loved this video so much! The way you learned from each other feels rlly inspiring to me and you both seem so down to earth. Since I have troubles to allow myself to fail - especially in sports - it felt good to see you casually try and have fun :)
No trace of ego with either of them. Just having fun and challenging their bodies. The mutual respect shown by these superstars towards each other is inspiring.
I want you to know Magnus, that watching your videos have spurred me to get back into climbing after 17 years without. You are an inspiration.
With me it was the other way. I had decided to take up climbing as a sport. I picked up a lot of gear (for over 16.000 NOK) and put it in the shopping cart at the rungne web-shop. Then i saw how insanely good they were and emptied the shopping cart and went to rema-1000 and bought chips and hot-dogs.

I absolutely love that this is so high on RUclips's trending list. You deserve it brother. Your content is always of such high quality. Truly.
Very nice video. I'd love to see a series with the two of you teaching each other climbing/calisthenics. Lots of potential I think. You are both excellent teachers.
This video shows how effortless Magnus makes climbing look! He makes routes look far easier than they are
Climbing makes it so blindingly obvious who is just strong and who can actually command their body in space. This guy clearly did better than most other super strong guys would, because he has the control to back up the strength.
He has also been climbing for fun for years by his own admission. Nothing beats experience.
Good grief, you two are absolutely extraordinary. I am always amazed what the human body can achieve with enough training and patience.
It just goes to show how technique is just as important as strength. Both guys are supermen.
Magnus I have no idea why, because I have no background or interest in rock climbing other than being a generic gym goer, but I am loving your channel! I love how authentic, calm, and genuine you are. It's very addicting to watch.
Thanks Mark, keep watching!
14:40 was the most relaxed transition into a handstand that ive ever seen
A lot of strength comes from flexibility aka flow of energy. As esoteric as it might sound. Much respect to both of you. Salute!
Only bodyweight and height doesn't translates to strength always am I right?
Do you have any books to recommend or type of yoga or exercises for that? I become tense and lock my shoulders and sometimes have weak hands because of that. I try to do some calistenics every other day, walk a lot and do a phisical job, however i feel like my energy isn't flowing as it should.
I love this man, and how he not only shows others try his speciality, but makes sure to include and try himself other person’s abilities (sport). Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, and no one can be the best at everything
Oh, wait, I can be the best at everything.... But I dont...
ever since Ludwig introduced me to you ive been watching your content nonstop. I wanna try climbing now but I know it wont be as easy as you make it look!
I hope you try it!
Go for it bro
Yes go for it! I watched Magnus for 3 years then went to the climbing gym with a head full of knowledge, zero finger strength, and forearms that pumped in seconds, but I still had the best time!
climbing is so fun! Get a couple of friends together and don't worry about the grades, just hop on whatever looks cool. If you're confused about anything i've never met a climber in the gym that doesn't want to help newbies (and show off a little in the process). Just ask around and give it your all.
Same
I feel like there’s so much potential to do more videos together! Watching both of you learn from each other skills that you have the strength to do but not technique is great fun!
You guys are so inspiring, thanks for the video! And I will start to learn hand stand now
Yall are so positive and encouraging with each other. Love it.
This is literally so wholesome. Two incredibly talented, insanely strong, hardworking guys encouraging each other to get better. Love this!
I loved your content before but recently you’ve been continuously pulling out my favorite videos and collaborating with a bunch of fun people.
It’s crazy how strong you are Magnus. It’s so fascinating to watch you climb. 🤟
So interesting to see the different muscle types and the constructive tips and tricks
It's crazy how different the strength requirements are for climbing than other general strength exercises
yh anyone he gets on who isnt used to climbing seems to find climbing hard even though they are good at most physical activities
Probably more a matter of technique than strength in their case.
@@Cangaca777 Not just technique really. The body has so many muscles and if you do the same routines most of them will not develop that well. What you need for bouldering isn't the same you need for Sondre's exercises/stunts.
When I still climbed I had a number of routines and tools to develop my grip, for example. Certain hand-muscles you rarely need in our lives but are crucial for a strong grip on the wall.
@@OytheGreat That makes sense yes! so your body kinda "designs" itself based on the activities you do.
the key is light weight, the bigger you get the harder it gets, even if it's all muscle mass (strength), the strength cannot overcome the weight and gets weaker the heavier you get.
all pro climbers and short skinny people..
Awesome vid Magnus! I love it when you feature people that are already intermediate climbers (and maybe strong in another sport), and seeing you take them to the next level. I think having a basic understanding of climbing technique allows you to work with them so much more (as opposed to having to teach them "arms straight" every time).
Love bouldering haven’t done it for years though. Love handstands and all the stuff on show. Loved the teaching and humble way both went about sharing. Excellent video for any want to be somethings.
Its always very interesting to see people from other sports coping with bouldering/climbing. What I haven‘t found so far is a collaboration with a professional (ballet) Dancer, I imagine it pretty cool =D (also because those two sports seem pretty far apart from each other at first glance). Keep up the cool and accessible work!
Not sure if you already saw this by now, but I gotta say I really liked watching the "pole dancers try to keep up with climbers" video (on another channel)
Super interesting video, Magnus, thanks so much for having Sondre on - and thanks to Sondre for taking part, and those handstand tips. I really like these kind of videos too - bringing in experts from different disciplines.
I've never watched these types of videos before. It was very interesting, how you guys can do that sort of stuff is amazing. Great video mate 👍
I loved the coaching! Great results very quickly.
Great video Magnus! It was awesome for you to both learn tips from the other! :D
Fascinating how you are both so strong and flexible but still have a lot to learn and teach each other. Makes for a good friendship!
Your content has grown an insane amount in a short amount of time, keep it up!
I'm glad to see Sondre getting recognition everywhere now
"Just pause for a moment and think about the next step..."
That's actually some amazing life advice.
i found your channel yesterday, and i have been hooked on your content, im currently watching through all of your recent videos, and all of them have been amazing. Keep up the great work!
That first boulder he got was so cool to see. Especially when it seemed he was beginning to get a little discouraged. Fast learner!
Thank you so much for such video, Magnus! As artist and ninja turtles fan I always think that "ninja" trainings with just fighting sparrings and weight lifting is not enough (that comics love to show so much). After this video I have so much ideas and inspiration about true ninja training (how it must be).
This guy is amazing! its nice to see your heroes conquer new challenges! Great job!

that was just such a nice depiction of muscles doing what they are trained to do... great video
I love how humble you both are but at the same time just enjoy showing the skills that you've learned over the years of training
flashing an 8a with unfastened shoes.. you’re insane magnus. seriously. it would make my heart so happy if you’re secretly training and trying out for the coming up olympics. you out of all athletes i follow truly deserve the gold
9:11 i'm only partway through but this is amazing. i'm a beginner who hasn't started yet, and getting to see basically a training session but also how to THINK through these and problem solve, AND just to get familiar with everything is sooooooooooooooooooooo invaluable. (that's excitement.)
i'm afraid of heights (falling, not all heights in general) and decided this would be a good way to push myself. but also because i found that i LOVE watching people climb. i've seen vids of competitions and stuff. nerve-wracking, AMAZING, just incredible. so i wanna see if i can overcome my limitation.
strength is obviously needed, so i plan to get that beefed up then start. but vids like these are such inspiration. and that the teaching is very laid back and.... idk collaborative? i do worry about not being good enough, for a teacher to not be annoyed. i know a good teacher wouldn't show that and would be understanding and patient but..... well, not every teacher lives up to that ideal. i want it to be fun, not an exercise in inadequacy.
Watching you coach helps to show how difficult some of these climbs are and how important and easy correct technique can help make a climb
Just found out your channel a few days ago and I can't stop watching! You are hella inspiring even for a couch potato like me lol! Keep it up Magnus.
Such humbleness and mutual respect ! Two great figures ❤
the power and strength in both of these guys, amazing
Magnus is a great teacher, he saw every little bit of technique that was missing to succeed that 7A and explained it nicely!
E: So was Sondre in the end :)
Whenever you upload a video I always get the urge to just binge through all your videos. But I've already seen them lol
What a couple of wholesome dudes. I wish I knew people like them.
I really appreciate this video which involves comparisons and communication
Amazing!! Sondre is a beast and a massive inspiration for me. Been following him for ages!!
This collab vs the last one. This is sooooooo much better, calmer and less annoying! Thank you!
Watching two capable bodyweight strength badasses be so nice and respectful and civilized to each other while challenging each other to perform in such a humble fashion just makes me laugh deep down inside with such a full heart. Two kids in a candy store having a great time. Awesome. God bless!
Its so funny as a norwegan to hear norwegans speaking english to eachother
As a native English speaker it was funny to me too!
Knut has the best Norwegian accent so far to me hah.
Magnus videos are amazing.
He always finds a way to make each video feel fresh and new.
Have no strict format for the channel allows all kinds of ideas to fit in. As long as it's fitness adjacent it always belongs.
He's such a genuine person, I've never cared about athletes much.
But he ls managed to inspire me to pursue and complete fitness goals i would have never had the confidence to even attempt
I love that you do this sort of 90/10% trade where you teach the guest and the guest teaches you. Really awesome.
Magnus' grip strength is just off the charts!!!! So impresive.
This just goes to emphasize what a top tier athlete Magnus is. Great collaboration!
Really enjoyed watching you together giving tips each other, this viking seems like a nice person :)
You're the first youtuber I liked just because of the way you talk and the way you sound. It's just I felt nice about it. I subscribed your channel.
This video kicks ass. love the hand stand techs.
Started handstands in middle school, and never once was tought to balance with fingers. bruh
Definitely one of the most, if not the most impressive athletes you have featured on you channel!
Incredible to see how a small technique change in the handstand, focusing on using the fingers, made such a difference!
In 4:46 he looked so confident going to the wall that I laughed hard when he felt with his arms wide open hahah
This was the colab I was so surprised hadn't happened yet
Guys thank you!! What a treat to have you both in a video; times two!!!
More of this please 🙏
What I like about Magnus is how he loves it when other people succeed at their climb. So enthusiastic about other people's success.
Yes, though to be fair I’ve never met a climber who isn’t that way - it’s part of what makes the sport so special
I love how well he takes advice and instructions
Great video Magnus. The quote “the reward for training hard is playing hard” stood out to me. I feel this for my training in running. I train my butt off and then I can go out and have amazing adventures “playing” in the mountains! Similar to Jocko Willink’s quote “discipline equals freedom”!
Magnus literally wasn't kidding when he said he's got some amazing content coming up in the next couple weeks a while back. Crushing the content!
Bouldering is so fun… love watching new people climb. He could easily be doing some really harder problems, above a V10 in little time.
Amazing video guys! I'm starting climbing and I realized that my arms are getting stronger to maintain the handstand, but now the challenge is to get out of the wall and find the balance...
Thank you for all this tips!.
