I add a tablespoon at the bottom of the pot, another at the rhizosphere, and 3 weeks after I topdress with another 2 Tbsp and a thin layer of more happy frog. This usually gets me through to early flower when I switch up to npk industries bloom all in one formula along with DTE sea bird guano 0-11-0 which works til mid to late flower when I add a late bloom formula (5-15-24) also from npk mixed with the flower 3-12-12. The only pests or diseases ive ever encountered are fungus gnats which are easily dealt with by bottom watering and a few fly strips and cider traps. I run between 74 and 80 degrees and 45 to 55 rh. I'm on my first run in a long time I ran coast of Maine and some blood meal and worm casting for veg. I'm now in week 5 of flower and I was working with fish bone meal from down to earth, with great results now I'm switching to seabird guano dte as well. I also utilize banana tea during flower with egg shells for cal and Epsom salt for mag and whatever dry amendments I'm using at that time. I have to use 1¼ four pound bags every two weeks, which adds up, but my ladies are loving it, and 10' tall.
I've used the Dr. Earth's kelp meal with success. I like to use the individual ingredients personally. That way I can whittle the list down one by one each grow to eliminate the ones that I don't see value in. I'm down to about 6 ingredients. Kelp is definitely a keeper for me.
Started my first outdoor grow. I hope I got smart. Don’t feel like playing mad scientist with my Advanced Nutrients. I pre charged my soil with Dr. Earth Homegrown and Flower Girl. Look forward to hopefully just top dressing every twenty one days and watering when needed. If things work in pots outdoors we’ll see if I’ll incorporate this style into my indoor winter grow. Thanks for pointing out that you can use the Dr. Earth also as a tea.
For outdoor using the Gaia Green I just run the 4-4-4 and 2-8-4 at a 50/50 ratio through veg and flower. I imagine ring that indoor would be great too. Just running the 2-8-4 in flower I always end up with the plants looking a little sad as far as color.
I just finished my latest run using nothing but Dr. Earth tomato and vegetable and the bud and bloom with genetics from Blimburn seeds. I had great results. I did run into a magnesium deficiency in mid flower so i had to add Epsom salt to correct it.I also used a compost tea every couple of weeks throughout. I am going to continue using Dr. Earth amendments for my autoflowers this next run.
I've used Earth Dust for years and now they went out of business so I have been looking for a decent replacement for it. Tea made from compost is used as a microbe boost and tea made from fertilizer is a nutrient boost. They have different applications. I am going to try some Dr Earth and compare it to my home-made mix. My own mix has alfalfa meal, neem seed meal, crab meal. oyster shell flour, Azomite, kelp meal, malted barley, biochar, and sea bird guano. If Dr Earth performs similarly, I will start using it because my mix costs a fortune to make.
Hey. I e grown 35 years. It i still eatch every person I can, to add to my repertoire. Smoked out with Arjan from GH seeds, Dj short, marc Emery, and got seeds once from DJ Short. Its like guitar playing. Its a " pot of gold at the end of a rainbow!" Always something to learn. No matter how good you are. Keep it up.
I love both! I use both regularly. because of the courseness of Dr Earth I typically use it after a big grow to rebuild my used soil then let it compost in the sun for a few months and I love using Gaia for the top dress throught the grow. I also load up on microbes and micoryza when rebuilding with Dr Earth.
Dr. Earth tomato & herb works . Amend to start & top dress twice . Add cal-mag , micros , and any treats that you feel are right . Smoked every bit of it .
older video but im a returning grower doing an outdoor run, im trying a lower cost local home made mix from city compost (yuck, but free) wiggle worm castings and commercial peat, then ive top dressed about 3 inches with an amended compost mix that i amended with a 1.5lb mineral and nutrient mix from a local company called country roots, then ive been mixing in their additional amendments in with my kashi, cover crop, and straw mulch layer, and now most recently i top dressed with about a half cup of dr earths veg tomato and herb mix, thats all going to decay until flower. after top dressing I planted an abundance of cover crops and grasses, and once im in flower im going to top dress with higher quality worm castings (probably Colorado Worm Company) and another 1/2lb-1lb (18sq ft, inground) of the country roots amendment and mineral mix, as well as a heavier P K dr earth mix if i cant find one im going to want to order build a soils top dress kit and potentially even their water soluable P K fertilizer, just to get me through this first run. once i let the cover crop grow a decent bit more on either bed, im going to split the cuttings and chop and drop it into the mulch, let it decay for a bit, then im going to let that ride out with maybe a microbial compost tea to help break it down and return it to the soil. im hoping the kashi starts to fruit under these conditions and aids in the breakdown of this organic matter and put compost over all of this and the add another amended mix the compression from the inground beds has allowed for so much more room for activities
I'm using Gaia Green with excellent results. Coco and worm castings, 2 TBSP per gallon of soil to start 70/30 Base and Bloom. I add Basalt Rock Dust for cal, mag, iron, etc. After that just microbes and a flower booster compost to top dress in week 3 of Flwr.
I'm new to growing so my only perspective at this point is ppm to kind of understand how much nutrients are being used. I'd imagine a tea could be tested and work out a fairly accurate ppm chart per Tbsp added to really have control of how much the plant gets. I'm curious tho, if the ppm in liquid form is a direct 1 to 1 with the dry form. With dry mediums the uptake is much slower. I understand that u can test the runoff ppm to kind of understand the amount of nutes in the medium your using. With DWC I can see the daily uptake and adjust on the fly. So even at a slower rate, the uptake is still happening. I understand that you can top dress and/or spray the leaves. But with dry mediums there doesn't seem to be any quick way to monitor and adjust daily to keep the plant right on the edge of too much nutes. I wanted to try coco and Dr earth. This video and so many great comments for Dr earth being great stuff, maybe next round I will. I love the idea of organic too. May I ask if autos or photos and rough estimate on yields just for more perspective.
In my 4x4 tent under my hyphotonflux hpf4000, I'm averaging a little over a pound per 4 plant grow in 5 gallon fabric pots. I only grow photo periods personally.
I personally use a mix of FFOF, worm castings, composted chicken manure, mushroom compost, and Dr Earth. That will carry my plants throughout veg and I'll to dress with Dr Earth Flower Girl in week 4 of flower.
@@blackherc1914 Good info to try and measure up to. I'm doing a single auto dwc to learn but it seems pretty straightforward. Seems anything over 100 grams per plant is pretty good. My northern lights auto is 2 foot tall at 34 days from seed and only just now showing signs of flower. Do you do any special training? Topping etc How long do u veg ur photos typically to fill a 4 x 4? This is where I'm hoping to get to eventually and figure 4 plants in 5 gallon or bigger was exactly what I'm thinking once I know what I'm doing with a single plant. That's an awesome light! I have a ViparSpectra TC600. Its a decent light but about a 3rd of yours lol.
This last grow I went with Roots Organics over Dr. Earth because 1) Price (Roots Organics was $17.99/3#, needing 2 bags (Grow and Bloom), Dr. Earth was $15/4# needing 3 bags (Tomato, Gold, Flower) seems like a wash right? Well 2) Roots Organics calls for 2 Tablespoons every 2 week and Dr. Earth calls for 4 Tablespoons every 2 weeks.
If you’re growing organic, throwing salt fertilizer to help a deficient plant may help immediately but it will be at the cost of destroying the natural microbes / soil web the plants used to. The book I learned my organic method from really recommended against doing that and being patient. I’m going through this right now and I’m waiting for my girl to rebound before I flip!!! If you’re looking to source smaller amounts of organic amendments check your local farm/feed garden store. Mine had all the different ones that you could get however much you need of each variety (kelp, fish meal etc) and saved a ton of money over buying DTE.
I use doctor Earth with a few other dried Amendments like bat guano , bone meal , worm castings , micro risen. It's really affordable growing on a budget.
This is my first grow and I’m using Gaia green and it’s working great no burn issues at all! But now I’m out and running low on funds I think I’ll get the dr earth next! If I switch will anything happen
Went with Dr earth , decent price looks good , first indoor grow , G 13 auto , one month in , all is well . Top dressed 2 tbl spoons per plant , no complaints.
@@apex4201 OF for the indoor stuff and for outdoor fruit and veggies I just use a cheaper soil and add the Gaia green 2-3 days after it put it in the pot, then water with FishShit ever so often to add the good stuff back into the soil.
I haven’t tried Gaia green. I’ve heard of it plenty for me it doesn’t fit my pocketbook just not heard of Dr. earth thinking about trying it and I mix my own dry ingredients from down to earth I get bat guano, seabird guano, fish bone meal, kelp meal, alfalfa meal, worm, castings, and I also use Epson salts… but only two times do I use it I get one box at a time it’s $20 definitely adds up but it lasts me two growing seasons. because I only use it as a organic tea and whatever’s left over in the brew bag I use for a top dress my plants are in the ground, and they are above my knees already and they haven’t been in the ground a full three weeks.😎 and the leaves are larger than my hand… My grow is gonna be better this year than it was last year. I’m learning more and more from you and everyone else thank you for your content I find the shows very informative every time… peace from a blind Gardner 😎
Try dr earth life blend in veg dr earth flower girl in flower you wont regret it I add some stuff but I dnt have to I get absolutely amazing results with just the dr.
I’ve used Dr Earth tomato herb and veg and Gia Green and have had good results with both. Currently using GG but will probably switch back to Dr Earth because of costs.
im dealing with organic burn as we speak! Any tips on how i can help the issue? Thankfully its during flower for some of the plants, but even still i have a few weeks to go before harvest.
If you have a burn i would take it you went hard on the feed so cut back on the feed. Just use water for a bit. From my understanding. If you top feed with organic nutrients then you can always remove the top layer of soil. If bottle nutrients cut off nutrients and feed water for a bit. From my understanding. Just trying to help. From what i have learned. You can always do more research or ask one of theses dudes like Mr. Grow it. That will truly answer you back with more experience. Or even ask Green Magic Gardening. He gives free help 24/7. You can add his channel and he gives his email address. Hope this helps. Or the enzyme solution might help like the other person said.
@@Springfield-eo8jl why dont you help the person. Give your advice or knowledge. Why laugh at them for asking a question. Help others Man. Thats what theses channels are for.
fun fact: animal bi-products ARE organic material and are therefore part of organic gardening. if we called it fun meal instead of blood meal everyone would be using it. theyre simply turned off by the word "blood". worm castings are poop and everyone is fine with that because they named it something other than "worm poop"......
The beauty of these types of blends, is it allows everyone to grow organically with a touch of ease! Personally I have never used synthetics as simple amendments has always made sense! These types of blends with bokashi added or water in grows spectacular. But one thing when growing organic, always try to have close to 2 or 3 inches of mulch to easily work your amendment in and to prevent the top soil getting hard like concrete! Good stuff!
Im using coco coir with earthworm casting mixed with 4-4-4, 2-8-4 and spirulina powder. This is my first grow, so far so good. What are your thoughts on using spirulina powder ?
@@beautifullydifferen1 Going amazing no nut problems and 4 weeks into flower now looking very frosty. You will have to water more frequently but other than that amazing resuls. I did however add 50% fox farms soil to the next grow to see the changes. It helps with retaining the water.
DR Earths is a really decent product for the availability and how well it works. I reuse my soils for 6 years now and I don’t even dump the pots I’ll leave the cut stalk and root from harvest top dress heavy with Dr earth 4-6-3 organic. And till in then I’ll mix and pour all my ferments together on all the pots. About 1 month before I gonna transplant back into the 25 gallon pots I’ll top dress again with 4-6-3 dr earths and cover the pot with card board to cook. I. 24-48 hours to take lid off and the Hyphea is everywhere. PS I also alway add extra Shrimp 🦐 meal 6-6-0 in soil after harvest and a little when the plant are about to flip into flower. The result speak for themselves. Gaia green is / was hard to get in my area and I rather make JADAM and KNF then spend that $
Dr. Earth will do the exact same for you as Gaia green. For people that saying it don't have calcium and magnesium in it. That's where kelp meal plays a role.
@@Pure_Presha I'll be putting up posts on my IG and a select few reddit groups. I have to finish flower on my current grow and the immediately following up with a new grow as I always do with uploads to IG and reddit
Yes! Their "Craft Blend" is really great. No Blood meal or Bone meal. Just Fish bone meal. And 14 other amendments, used in equal amounts (3X Fish bone meal though). "Mr Grow It" is a big fan and user of "Craft Blend", as well!

How long would organic dry amendments stay good in your soil if you’re growing outdoors? I started living soil last summer and added amendments 3 foot down in the hole 3‘ x 5‘ bed with one plant.
First time growing. I used Dr. Earth 2-2-2 during veg and have been using Dr. Earth Flower Girl 3-9-4 now that they're in flower. I always mixed up 1/3-1/2 strength tea's since I'm growing in MG potting mix.
Gaia Green all day!!! 💪 I couldn't imagine an easier way to grow. Not a big expense with only four plants. Cost is not a factor. I like to throw some Gaia Green Mineralized Phosphate on top in the 3-4 week of flower. C'MON !! Thanks for the content ✌
Dr earth is listed on the cdfa and Gaia green veg and bloom isn’t. Can’t find any heavy metal analysis for Gaia green anywhere online. Dr earth is within a acceptable range. Reammending without testing leads to accumulation of heavy metals 💯
I got 50lb bag of Roots Organics Bloom and a 50lb bag of Veg, I’m currently in the process of switching from Nectar For The Gods bottles where I was getting 5 gallon buckets using 4 bottles from the line… Herculean Harvest (I’ll continue to use) Gaia Mania, Medusas Magic Zeus Juice
I LOVE GAIA GREEN! ONCE I STARTED USING GAIA I DIDN'T HAVE TO PH MY WATER WHICH IS GREAT FOR ME. IT'S PRICEY BUT I DON'T HAVE A HUGE GARDEN. IF I DIDN'T USE IT IN MY VEGETABLE GARDEN I WOULD HAVE HAD ENOUGH FOR 3-4 RUNS 5-7 PLANTS. I'M NOT CHANGING IF I DON'T HAVE TO. ALSO, THE NEW MARS GROW LIGHT LOOKS GREAT BUT IT IS TOO BIG FOR MY LITTLE GARDEN. IS IT ADJUSTABLE OR ARE OTHER MARSHYDRO LIGHTS WORKING WITH THE APP?
Trying different mixes of the Dr Earth. Use a little of the 4 4 4 along with the veg/tomato 4 6 3 and the flower girl 3 9 4. You can burn plants, especially with a fertilizer tea. That tea was some nasty crap!
Man I am glad you talked about the Dr. Earth, I may experiment some with it this next auto grow I just put in the living soil i put together! I like the organic route, the flower seems to be fresher and have a better profile than the synthetic grown flower.
"A lot of companies dont get the OMRI label due to the cost" which IMO is BS due to the fact that they charge an arm and a leg for "premium" fertilizers. So its not like they wouldnt make that back VERY quickly.
About to start my first auto grow using GG for the first time I got some 420 fast buds strains to run fingers crossed all goes well shyt ain't cheap I'm doin exactly what they say to do on the can 3 TBLS per gallon I'm running 3 gallon pots I'm adding castings, kelp meal, myco+ into promix hp soil hope these ladies come dressed for the party lmao. I'm going to try dr earth. so far i've only used my own compost tea from kitchen scraps, bone meal, and blood meal and I've had great success. No need to break the bank but dr earth looks super affordable. I can do that.
DR EARTH Pure gold all purpose 2 2 2 i top dress the hole garden in the spring For compost tea i use one cup just for the microbes for a 5 gallon bucket along with my own compost and worm castings that i make Just picked up two 8 Lb bags 50% off at home depot

@drearthorganics Does the Bud and Bloom Booster contain any calcium? And same question for the 444 All Purpose? I usually mix in a healthy amount of the Veggie Tomato to ensure the calcium is there, even during flower. Sound about right? Thank you, Dr.! 😊
By the years i have seens alot of times nutrients cost like 10bucks doing the same job like 100buck nuts😊 Just look what you are buying dont buy stuffs that promise big buds without writing what they got inside to feed your plants
I always add it to my soil mixes. If using gypsum, no REAL need for adding calcium, and it buffers the PH. I have a rule that anything that goes into my soil has to have at least 2 purposes, it really cuts back on adding/purchasing/remembering 25 differnet ammendments.
Craft blend #1 bar nothing. I have used dr earth and pennington organics, and I think they are a great cost-effective alternative. But nothing offers a complete nutrient package like craft blend.
@@allseeingguy5485 I'll say that BAS sources better materials but if you look at the ingredients in Craft blend and compare them to Gaia Green you'll see that they are almost the same except GG has a few extra ingredients that BAS doesn't add. With that being said, I still think BAS is far superior to all other companies because of the quality of material sourcing
I used a cup of GG 284 to top dress mistakenly and I was so worried it would burn but I decided not to flush and my plants handled it well. But lesson learned.

Kelp meal, alfalfa meal, malted barley powder, neem meal, fish bone meal, and aloe are all in the current rotation@@freethegreat
Earth also as a tea.
sounds like u got a plan!!! 😎👍
I use the same mix, but i also add kelp meal for the ALL the micros.
Keep it up.
Gaia or Dr. Earth for outside grow 15 plants? Or not recommended for outdoors? Trying to stay organic and healthy!
Smoked every bit of it .
i went and got miracle grow potting soil and my plants are growing like crazy ,,, they are in pots sitting outside getting lots of sun
older video but im a returning grower doing an outdoor run, im trying a lower cost local home made mix from city compost (yuck, but free) wiggle worm castings and commercial peat, then ive top dressed about 3 inches with an amended compost mix that i amended with a 1.5lb mineral and nutrient mix from a local company called country roots, then ive been mixing in their additional amendments in with my kashi, cover crop, and straw mulch layer, and now most recently i top dressed with about a half cup of dr earths veg tomato and herb mix, thats all going to decay until flower.
after top dressing I planted an abundance of cover crops and grasses, and once im in flower im going to top dress with higher quality worm castings (probably Colorado Worm Company) and another 1/2lb-1lb (18sq ft, inground) of the country roots amendment and mineral mix, as well as a heavier P K dr earth mix
if i cant find one im going to want to order build a soils top dress kit and potentially even their water soluable P K fertilizer, just to get me through this first run.
once i let the cover crop grow a decent bit more on either bed, im going to split the cuttings and chop and drop it into the mulch, let it decay for a bit, then im going to let that ride out with maybe a microbial compost tea to help break it down and return it to the soil. im hoping the kashi starts to fruit under these conditions and aids in the breakdown of this organic matter and put compost over all of this and the add another amended mix
the compression from the inground beds has allowed for so much more room for activities
Been using Dr Earth for a couple years and I absolutely love the results. 2 Tbsp/gal of medium and just add water or a good tea after that.
Topping etc
How long do u veg ur photos typically to fill a 4 x 4? This is where I'm hoping to get to eventually and figure 4 plants in 5 gallon or bigger was exactly what I'm thinking once I know what I'm doing with a single plant.
That's an awesome light! I have a ViparSpectra TC600. Its a decent light but about a 3rd of yours lol.
@@Rizik1986 i usually veg for about 4 weeks. I top my plants once during veg and that's it. The rest is LST.
Fukn false. U can use beneficial bacteria with salts. Ever heard of synganic growing? If not look for yourself
Love ur show bro. Real is always the best way. Right on keep keeping great 411 always!
Top dressed 2 tbl spoons per plant , no complaints.
sweet!!! 😎👊
I use Gaia green for my top dress and Down to earth products for brew teas. I’ve had amazing luck using the Gaia green for everything I have in pots.
@402 SHO what are you using for soil?
@@apex4201 OF for the indoor stuff and for outdoor fruit and veggies I just use a cheaper soil and add the Gaia green 2-3 days after it put it in the pot, then water with FishShit ever so often to add the good stuff back into the soil.
Walmart "expert gardener" actually has a decent 444 they offer that also has calcium and magnesium. Its worked beautifully for me for so far.
No joke! I just grabbed 2-8# bags for $12/ea a couple weeks back. Even has all the good microbes and bacertias!

Roots Organics is more cost effective than even Dr. Earth
im dealing with organic burn as we speak! Any tips on how i can help the issue? Thankfully its during flower for some of the plants, but even still i have a few weeks to go before harvest.
Get an enzyme solution
@@wademacdonald106😂😂😂😂
If you have a burn i would take it you went hard on the feed so cut back on the feed. Just use water for a bit. From my understanding. If you top feed with organic nutrients then you can always remove the top layer of soil. If bottle nutrients cut off nutrients and feed water for a bit. From my understanding. Just trying to help. From what i have learned. You can always do more research or ask one of theses dudes like Mr. Grow it. That will truly answer you back with more experience. Or even ask Green Magic Gardening. Hey what about dr earth 2-2-2 can I substitute it for Mycorrhiza well can I use dr earth 2-2-2 as mycorrhizae
fun fact: animal bi-products ARE organic material and are therefore part of organic gardening. if we called it fun meal instead of blood meal everyone would be using it. theyre simply turned off by the word "blood". worm castings are poop and everyone is fine with that because they named it something other than "worm poop"......

I’m thinking of going the same road. How was this grow for you?

Gaia green is / was hard to get in my area and I rather make JADAM and KNF then spend that $
Ive made Boogie brew teas. Recharge worked just as good and instant.
Can you do a side by side grow comparison?
Is the Bud bloom okay to use for weed?
Do u have to use coco or organic soil for organic nutes
Dr. Earth will do the exact same for you as Gaia green. For people that saying it don't have calcium and magnesium in it. That's where kelp meal plays a role.
Been using Gaia, I've been eyeing up Dr earth and the Alaskan fish emulsion. I'm deff gonna do a grow to compare. Dope content as always!

How long would organic dry amendments stay good in your soil if you’re growing outdoors? I started living soil last summer and added amendments 3 foot down in the hole 3‘ x 5‘ bed with one plant.
Depends on how much you add, less will last shorter periods of time than heavier dosings
Ummmm..... how would they go bad, in the soil?
@@Springfield-eo8jl not that they go bad but get used up by the plant.
First time growing. I used Dr. Earth 2-2-2 during veg and have been using Dr. Earth Flower Girl 3-9-4 now that they're in flower. I always mixed up 1/3-1/2 strength tea's since I'm growing in MG potting mix.

I've been using Dr earth for a long time with great results. I mix both veg and bloom and make a tea, plants love it
Dr earth is listed on the cdfa and Gaia green veg and bloom isn’t. Can’t find any heavy metal analysis for Gaia green anywhere online. Dr earth is within a acceptable range. Reammending without testing leads to accumulation of heavy metals 💯
Has do to with the fact they are a Canadian based company and they are working on the American side of labeling currently 🤙🏻
I use the Dr Earth, Back to roots Premium blend and worm castings.
I bough 22 pounds of gaia 444 for $50. Dr earth is 4 pounds for $12. Do the math. Gaia is cheaper. Yall welcome

If your soil ammendments include dolomite lime and/or glacial rock dust and/or gypsum you never have to PH your water.
I tend to ground the dr earth further into a powder like gaia green
interesting!
"A lot of companies dont get the OMRI label due to the cost" which IMO is BS due to the fact that they charge an arm and a leg for "premium" fertilizers. So its not like they wouldnt make that back VERY quickly.

Just started using Gypsum..I can say the trichomes at day 30 are off the hook.
Anyone else have any experience with Gypsum ?
I always add it to my soil mixes. If using gypsum, no REAL need for adding calcium, and it buffers the PH. I have a rule that anything that goes into my soil has to have at least 2 purposes, it really cuts back on adding/purchasing/remembering 25 differnet ammendments.
It's cal/ mag basically.
Used both and both are fire. Just add worm castings to either of those
I am seeing less Dr Earth and more Down to Earth, the retailers say the distributor raised the prices on Dr's Earth and DTR is cheaper to supply
