Heard about dry amendments from another grow channel they were using gaia green since that’s a Canadian product I found the next best thing which to me was down to earth. I have four years of outdoor gardening under my belt and just harvested my first indoor garden with great results and very little tweaking! I used the 4-4-4 and 4-8-4 with a little bit of extra kelp, alfalfa, and silica added to the mix. I top dressed twice and was good to go! Terpenes and strengthen harvest was great. THANKS!!!
That 484 is tricky you have to amend every 15 days…plus it’s just not as good as gg … I used both I was originally a down to earth fan boy but when I compared the two then added the cost of the other dte amendments that I’d have to buy it was cheaper and more convenient for me to make the switch gg is just a better product
@@jcli1829 my first couple of rounds I topped with that 4-8-4 and realized that kelp and alfalfa attributed to my fox tailing, so on my third round I just topped with worm castings and bone meal. Much denser structure. I have moved strictly to outdoors and mainly use compost, worm castings, and that Alaska fish fertilizer, been the best medicine yet!
The rose and flower mix works great as well, they have a lot of really good products. Their fish meal is absolutely amazing for pot in every garden, should have a little it’s great stuff. I absolutely love the video.
I've always used Dr Earth's dry amendments but I'll have to try Down To Earth. Dr Earth's comes with mycorrhizae and pro biotics and it's made of food waste and I grew an awesome garden last year using their stuff. My pepper and tomato plants were my best yet and the herb garden was awesome too. The amendments definitely helped but so did compost and worm castings. Lots of biological activity made a huge difference.

Yes you can: 4-4-4 and 3-9-4 ( Dr Earth) or 2-8-4 ( Gaia greens) is used for the fruiting stage. At 30 days amend with 1 TBSP per gallon of soil with Dr Earth or 2-8-4 Gaia. I don’t know if DTE makes a 2-8-4 product 🤷🏽🤷🏽 I suggest Azomite and recharge the entire life of the plant. Four products is all you need to buy. The rest can be made in the kitchen: Lentil SST, Corn SST, bean wash water, rice wash water. Happy growing

I bought 10kg on amazon for 80$ still happy with purchuse because it's great stuff but a few months lather my grow store had it for 55$ before you had to buy from sellers that would hike prices, it's still jacked high on amazon which needs to change
You mean too much wind? Too much wind wont burn your plants, its a cause of heat stress and nute burns. Although too much wind can also give you ackward leaf structure on sensitive plants. But nothing much you can do if growing outdoors, unless you put a safety green house or net around it. Indoors would be much easier to handle just have the fan pointing on the wall for the air to bounce back on the other direction.
I think a lot of people do!! I personally really like them and feel the manufacture prob mixes all this better than me. We all look at the soil and add a few extra scoops 😁, happy growing 🤙🏻
I’m new to growing one thing I fear is burning my plant if it’s not asking to much what other down to earth products can I mix with this to ensure my plant gets all that it need

What you really want is a diverse population of bacteria, fungus and nemotodes and other little bugs eating eat other and pooping out the digested fertilizer thats ready to eat by the plant. Otherwise this stuff just sit there doing nothing. You find those in compost, worm castings and insect frass. I have been growing for about 9 months. This is what I have learned.
@@anthonyromano8565 not sure what you meant, i think he is reffering to burning his plants, although you are correct with beneficial bacterias and fungus for the root system being said you can just use Mykos products, i recommend xtreme mykos, but this 4-4-4 will just do the job done by itself as an addition to your soil base, it dont just seat there, its a slow release as like any organic fertilizers. Im guessing you are growing outdoors as you said you welcome insects eating each other, its good that you have beneficial insects eating the pest away, but its a bit alarming to have both in the 1st place (of course we all know we cant prevent it growing outdoors), still i think a clean garden is always better. Adding Neem cakes to your soil and foliar spraying with neem oil can also prevent insects and critters eating your plants away, a good airflow inside the grow room is also recommended. Back to burning your plants, any fertilizers has the potential to burn plants specially seedlings with weak root system, although a good organic fertilizer like down to earth will most likely not burn your plant as it is a slow release and would take at least 2 weeks for results. Seedlings doesnt need any fertilizers! being a fertilizer of any kind is only used such as down to earth ammendments is pre mix to a soil when transplanting or use as top dress. As most organic fertilizers are compost readily for you, as oppose to fresh dungs could be a more potential burns on your plant whether its chicken, rabbit or cow manure its too hot for fir some crops to handle.
@@anthonyromano8565 also not all fungus are helpful to your root systems like trichoderma and ectomykos, endo (glomus intradices) is what you want on your colony but adding a few competition would also help that they work and not get too lazy for food uptake to support your root growth. So adding or replenishing there colony weekly and feeding mollases is a good consistent way to ammend them.

Down to Earth is an organic dry amendment. if you mixed it with water and poured it in the pot, the ingredients would just stay on top of your soil. In healthy soil, microbes slowly break it down over 2-3 weeks, then the microbes/mycelium in the soil help deliver the nutes to the roots.
You mean making a tea? Yes of course. But what you mention doesnt work like that since its not soluble, but as a tea you can do it but i dont see the point of doing so as this are pre-mix or top dress (slow release) in soil which would last you a good few months without having to feed your plants with nutes. Slow release is a good way for plant build uptake to a well rounded established plant. But making it as a tea doesnt hurt your plant as well, something like a cheese cloth or a good filter with air stones to make your own tea, i only make teas from banana peels with mollases.
I’d just stick to amending your soils with it and or too dressing for longer duration plants. You can mix in with a tea, and somethings might come more available but I think best under the soil, happy growing 🤙🏻

This is one thing I seek to understand and keep falling up short. I’ve asked many competent people and no one gave me a good answer. I’m in the same boat, organic soil and dry amendments. When I checked PPM run off was over 3k but plant was fine. Needless to say I stopped 100% measuring the PPM in my grow. Just one less thing to worry over and think I need to change something, happy growing 🤙🏻
Why would you test the ppm’s when it’s a slow release product? Checking in the soil is more valuable ( organic growers) than the ppm’s ….. Testing ppm’s is for adding extras when going organic. SST’s, Rice wash, bean wash etc - then you will need to test the ppm’s at the mix is ACTIVATED and immediately bio-available. Salts are all the food at once - organic is the same food split up over days …some days the plant eats more some days less.
I asked a question so obviously I don’t know why. Hints why I’m asking a question. If you know then you should go into more depth about your comment. Maybe a video or an article for people to read. Don’t just post a comment like you know everything and your not willing to explain exactly
@@bbrewster1986 realistically you don’t understand how dry amendments work. Bacteria and Fungi break down the dry amendments OVER time. Usually one will re-amend soil every 30 days. To keep stable levels in the soil. As long as the media is kept moist, the bacteria and fungi keep working. The plant will only uptake what it needs and the remainder is left for future usage. Running water through it will read between 2000-3000 ppm’s …but your plant is not absorbing that amount - that’s the run-off from the water going throughout the media. What’s more interesting is that is obvious you don’t even comprehend growing tbh because of the TYPE of question you asked. If you even read the package - it give instructions on how to be utilized. With those two bits of info, I can tell you get low harvest, hay smelling products, and don’t get soil biology. Stop asking questions and just read more - A LOT more.

Way to much alphalpha meal the quality isn't there anymore. I've got pics of the old 444 and the new 444 list of ingredients is diff and the grind is super corse now. Really not the same line it used to be. It's ok for outdoor but not fast enough acting indoor. Takes to long to activate

Why would you test the ppm’s when it’s a slow release product? Checking in the soil is more valuable ( organic growers) than the ppm’s ….. Testing ppm’s is for adding extras when going organic.
SST’s, Rice wash, bean wash etc - then you will need to test the ppm’s at the mix is ACTIVATED and immediately bio-available. Salts are all the food at once - organic is the same food split up over days …some days the plant eats more some days less.

@@bbrewster1986 realistically you don’t understand how dry amendments work. Bacteria and Fungi break down the dry amendments OVER time. Usually one will re-amend soil every 30 days. To keep stable levels in the soil. As long as the media is kept moist, the bacteria and fungi keep working. The plant will only uptake what it needs and the remainder is left for future usage. Running water through it will read between 2000-3000 ppm’s …but your plant is not absorbing that amount - that’s the run-off from the water going throughout the media. What’s more interesting is that is obvious you don’t even comprehend growing tbh because of the TYPE of question you asked. If you even read the package - it give instructions on how to be utilized. With those two bits of info, I can tell you get low harvest, hay smelling products, and don’t get soil biology. Stop asking questions and just read more - A LOT more.

Way to much alphalpha meal the quality isn't there anymore. I've got pics of the old 444 and the new 444 list of ingredients is diff and the grind is super corse now. Really not the same line it used to be. It's ok for outdoor but not fast enough acting indoor. Takes to long to activate

Used to be great stuff until they changed the formula and also its way way more corse then it ever was. Used this stuff for almost 10years until the quality went away. Now I'm using Gaia green veg and bloom and it's wayyyyy better. Sorry DTE it's just the facts.gaia greens is way better quality. But also Cost alot more. Still I choose Gaia green
