    Do you think we are headed to an economy of using bugs as fertilizer?

    • @timturk1899
      @timturk1899 2 года назад +1

      Yes! I know adding 10%(or more) of EWC to my Pro-Mix HP/Sunshine Mix#4 really has an incredible effect on growth. Not just as a fertilizer, but mostly the life it adds to the mix. A Super compost (Vermipost..?)! I usual put some charged Bio-char and extra Perlite to keep the mix porous.
      Insect Frass has been on my list for quite awhile now, but was always very expensive at my local store. Another brand, usually quite large amounts, at least for the price, so I still haven't gotten around to trying any, though I have seen some others lately.
      Now I have to get some, and the fact that Down To Earth has Insect Frass is fantastic news! They've always had the best supplements and dry amendments in the business, IMO, with great looking and highly degradable/recycled boxes.
      I always have some of their Oyster Shell meal, shrimp meal, around. Their Alfalfa meal is great to mix or top dress, especially during flowering. While not high in Phosphorus, it contains Tricantonal, A natural Plant Growth Regulator/hormone that stimulates all stages of growth, many more flowering sights and much larger blooms, especially when dialed in! Very interesting info around this.
      Now I have to check my favorite online sources for this new Down To Earth Insect Frass. Don't think I've noticed it on Amazon with other DTE staples of the industry? But I'll have to check in a few.
      First I'm going to see if you have a link below, Simpler, and hopefully you'll get a little something for it. I know some do, so I'll have to check just in case!
      Really great video, explained perfectly!!!
      Forgive my rambling, please. If any one made it this far. DTE's Insect Frass really has me psyched!👍💯🙏✌️💚😙💨💨💨

    • @timturk1899
      @timturk1899 2 года назад +1

      Yes! Hopefully not for humans though. Living in The Metaverse and eventually not knowing reality. Small, individual rooms with us eating crickets, other insects, but while in The Metaverse you're tasting the finest food, whatever we love.
      I believe that's the later plan/talk around The Word Economic Forum, i.e. Klaus Schwab..?
      Not gonna happen!!!
      But Down To Earth Insect Frass? If you see my serious comment here, I ramble on some about my great experience with DTE supplements, but I'm going to find some DTE Insect Frass right now. Thanks!💯👍🙏✌️👌

      YESSSS!!!!Bugs are FOOD ...for animals including humans ....the oil extract is medicine...(lauric acid) .....the frass is merely the waste product that we can upcycle for plants.
      I 100% believe Frass production to be completely inline with the regenerative modalities of economy necessary to counter the degenerative practices instilled in us by extractive capitalistic mindsets ....It is vital that we support this industry!
      furthermore given the advances in production methods i believe it to be more effective and efficient than worm farming ...thus making it quite easy for the regular citizen to compost even the wettest of kitchen scraps ....rendering a uber chitin rich compost for the garden that leaves nothing to waste. The flys are already buzzing around your trash can ....now get out there and apply some regenerative ingenuity and BOOM....you are now a STEWARD that defeats entropy ...the single most powerful thing in the entire universe aside from HUMAN COMPETENCE

      @@jeremyschissler337 Ordered some Down To Earth Insect Frass last night.
      I was surprised how many companies are on the "Frass wagon" these days. Most are still quite expensive(the original Insect Frass, 2-2-2 I believe, used to be around $30 for 2lbs, still is), and they don't all seem to be from Black Flys, I believe some mentioned other insects?
      Quite surprised, and happy to see this more widely available, and at better prices than ever!👍

    if you live anywhere where white pines grow, do this...... go find a big pine that has been down for 2 years (they are everywhere when you start looking)....... bring a large, dull knife or some kind of scraper........pry the bark off the dead pine, and low and behold...... you will find gallons and gallons of great frass..scrape it, mix in some lime or pulverized egg shell (just a bit)...mix with some soil and let sit for 3 weeks (I call it conditioning)..... mix into your top soil layer or use for compost tea, or if you are building soil, mix it in in small amounts in entire batch. A logger left of bunch of butt end of big dogs in a pile at the skid load site.....2 years later I had 30, 5 gallon pales of this white pine bug frass.... in the subsequent years I collect about 20, 5 gallon pales each summer when I go for hikes with my dog.... good stuff.

    Wow! Rich with information! I'm just getting into it.
    I just learned this info from a Matt Powers video:
    Adding insect frass/chitin to composting worms makes the worms generate chitinase -the enzyme that dissolves chitin-. That is what has been used to destroy tree borer beetle larvae and other pests while also strengthening the plants. The company that made that claim was sued by pesticide companies, but after years of litigation the pesticine companies lost and the company is still in business. I'm intrigued by that story, so will look into it further because I have two worm bins and have just received 5lbs of black fly larvae frass and another product that is 10lbs of compost with frass in it from the company that supposedly was involved in that legal fight mentioned. From looking further, I realize that adding cellulose to the worm bins is another part of that formula that makes the worms generate another enzyme. I'm not sure if the cellulose enzyme would be good in that frass tea for pest control also. Would you know the optimum formula for frass in a worm bin?

    plants cant run away, plants are very aware of whats around them, do they know the bugs are dead or not, i think not, i think they kick in 2ndary metabolites, few things a weed plant can do but produce more trichomes to protect the bud, ive tested tents with and without using insect frass, always less out of the tents i dont use it in. a must have for any organic growers, makes your plant taste bad to bugs as well and used with silica gives you a edge vs bugs all day that are alive.
