Valeria Mazza became famous as a model because she looked similar to the famous supermodel Claudia Schiffer (who was the highest paid supermodel of the 90s) so a lot of designers ended up hiring Valeria just because she looked like Claudia, but Valeria cost cheaper, without designers having to pay her a ton of money 🤣 but Gianni Versace was the first big designer to hire her in a fashion show (Valeria said her first big show was with him) and I think Gianni Versace was one of the few designers that actually valued her as a talented new model (and of course I think Gianni was also attracted to her blond European beauty 🤭 because Valeria was a beautiful woman from Argentina 🤣 and Gianni always had an incredible eye for spotting beautiful women 😝) but the funniest thing to me is unlike with other designers hiring Valeria Mazza wasn't about saving money for him, because Gianni Versace could afford to hire both Claudia and Valeria at the same time. 🤣🤣🤣 (as well as many other supermodels) who he would often spend millions to work with on a regular basis 🤭 but Valeria became one of his many muses because she was a good model, I like her, it's a shame she's so under-rated. 😭
She was a Guess? girl. That's what gave her exposure and boosted her career. Claudia was still working plenty when Valeria was around and was still working when Valeria stopped getting booked as much. She wasn't hired because of any similarities to Claudia as if she needed a replacement. Valeria had her own look that worked out for her just fine during her career.
Claudia Schiffer became famous because she stole the whole look from BRIGITTE BARDOT, do not forget about that! Claudia STOLE Brigitte Bardot's PERSONALITY!!!! Claudia's career was a COPY-REVIVAL of BRIGITTE BARDOT!!! What a COPYCAT!!!! Nothing about Claudia is REAL! She stole EVERYTHING from BRIGITTE! EVERYTHING!!!!
Let me 1st say that I love Valeria's look. However, I feel personally that when she walk on the runway there is a lack of that umf factor, the pazazz, the energy that captivates the audience. She just moves very casually and simply. This is just her style, which is understandable. However, people do call her great, extremely beautiful, with a nice walk. Everybody is entitled to their opinion, however, I don't think that Valeria is all that great of a runway model. Now, she does take great photos, has a interesting sultry, yet soft look to her. I think a lot of photographers and other industry people noticed that and that is why she did well as a model. However, there are plenty of models that are physically beautiful, that can take great photos, have a great and more refined runway walk, and have the charisma, e.g., Karen Mulder. Compared to some of these models who have all or most of these attributes Valeria has has 2 for the sake of this example. I think Valeria is just decent. However, I say this from the outside looking in (I don't personally know her). I also think race and how idealistically European she appears also plays a part in her success. She's White, blonde, thin, tall, and beautiful and has the "exotic" air to her since she is Argentinian...this is at the top of the beauty hierarchy unfortunately. So where she lacks in other areas, I believe her holding this position in an industry about looks and beauty, trumps what she lacks. If she had similar facial and bodily features but was Indian, East Asian, Black, etc. I do not believe she would have been as successful or popular as she is (in terms of her modeling career).
