I think the command thrust models have a "self trim" if its to high when you wot. Dont know if im right but thats what ive heard 🤷♂️ i have a 2018 merc 115hp nothing special and im currently trying to diagnose a "lack of fuel" issue. Did you by chance ever get the scoop on what this trim situation was?
The engine is designed to lower itself if in the tilt position (beyond the 15 degree trim range) above an approximate 1800 rpm while in gear. As long as it is not bleeding down while under power on plane and you have full trim function, the trim/tilt is fine.
Sounds like mercury has their head up somewhere is doesn't belong. Unacceptable for an engine to not maintain its tilt & trim. Major deal breaker when shopping
My 75hp is a 2016 model that's the same motor yours is. Mine is just detuned to be a 75hp. Everything is still perfect. Have you tried another dealer? Some dealers have more clout/more charismatic and convincing than others and a bigger dealer isn't always the best dealer. If a little more legwork on your part doesn't work I would just get it fixed right on your own dime and see what you can do in small claims court as a last resort. Sometimes you just gotta bend over and take matters into your own hands to save your sanity. I run a Tracker so didn't have a choice but no regrets owning another Mercury knowing the 75-115 4-stroke is pretty reliable.
I have a Mercury 115 pro XS 2020. Disappointing they would not warranty that. So far so good for me, but definitely not a good look. I feel like I should have gone with Honda
What sucks here is that Yamaha and every other outboard manufacturer is jumping on crap like this to destroy the quality control at Mercury. Call me what you please but I'd prefer the inline 6 cylinder tower of power. The best motors ever made from 90hp to 150hp, then the real Mercury dominance began with the V-6 2.5L screamers.. Sorry, I digress...
Common sense here. Your trim cannot handle the torque when you increase RPM at a high angle. It gets forced down, that’s why you don’t hear the trim actually working as if falls down. Perhaps a power trim system will get you running again.
It's a hydraulic system, if it is moving without the pump activated it is leaking and therefore not rebuilt correctly. Replacement, proper rebuild or a different system are the options. Would common sense tell you that a skid steer picking up rocks in the bucket would have the bucket fall because it can't handle a load?
Trim pump can't hold motor up, starts dropping at 1100 rpm. Dealer replaced o rings, used to drop at 900 rpm.... it's still not right, I have to worry about smacking my motor every time i drive on trailer.
That's terrible!!! I have the 2019 Pro XS 115 and have had no issues thank God.
Hi. There has since been a warranty statement from merc. It’s the valves in the power trim pump that need replacing.
So when you give your motor throttle trimmed that high up my 115 pro xs will self trim down
So lets out the dealership so the rest of us don’t support their bs, and let’s find another dealer that will do the right thing...

Dealer said it needs a new trim pump, seal kit didn't fix it.. Merc wouldn't authorize it
I had a problem with the fuel fitting cracked where the line comes into the motor
The pump is fine but the cylinder is most likely your problem.
I think you'd be happy with a 115 Yamaha SHO Vmax 4 stroke!
Next boat I'm going back to yamy
@@daddypickle Well Said My Friend!
Hate to tell you this, Yamy’s have issues at times. I sell bass boats and hear the stories first hand.

It drops around 1100 rpm. It drops overnight. It drops while running.

Merc has an updated check valve kit for bleed down such as yours. Have your local dealer look into it.

@@Resistculturaldecline I'd love to be able to tell you the "other" makers are problem free, but won't......
So any update on what was wrong? did you fix it?
Dealer says trim pump needs to be replaced, mercury warranty dept doesn't agree.
Do you have an update on you motor trim problem? I have the same problem.
Unfortunately no

Wrong the 115 is different. 75-90 are the same just detuned.
so how is the motor useless? It looks like your problem is your trim hydraulics
Just sucks not being able to drive on trailer, or cross shallow water.

You are safe, you have the improved trim unit :-)
@@mcplutt Ok. just getting this for some reason. thats good to know.
So do we think the hydraulic pump can’t leak down on a Honda or Yamaha. Dayum.
Mine does the same thing. Nothing is wrong with it.
That is completely normal , we had a 2014 optimax pro xs 115 , it did it on its own

Does it have enough hydraulic fluid?
Yes. Dealer recommended replacing pump, mercury warranty department didn't agree.

Yes.
But mercury only replaced seals, they won't replace pump

The trim system should hold that power setting all day. There's a problem with thr unit, mercury should've handled it

Wasn't an option at the time. I do wish I chose the Suzuki
