- I wanted to share how easy it is to break in the Mercury ProXS 4 Stroke Outboards. In this video I'll show you how I break in my ProXS, include screen shots of the Mercury User Manual Instructions and walk you through the steps I take. Just a couple of hours on the water, and the main break in period is over. Super simple!

I don't like break-in. But my new boat is being rigged, and if they ever finish I'll have to do it. And it's cold.
I may wait a month or so.

Why would you say to keep it trimmed down for wide open bursts?
I was told the opposite by a factory tech. He told me, Full throttle full trim but don’t let it cavitate.
I wouldn’t go against the factory. My thoughts are that it puts a greater load on the motor and keeps the RPMs down near 4500 as the manual instructs.
