Many do value the educational system.. its been in a deep erosion since at least the 1990s: bringing corporate programs into schools, mediocre standardized testing, balancing local budgets at the expense of schools and teacher salaries. The Charter schools movement. These policies are usually driven by conservatives and GOP who want to break down all government functions. Then they say, "See! Government doesn't work!". THEN all that govt funding goes into the pockets of their cronies in the private for-profit sector.

You have to remember, Trump lost the popular vote in 2016. He won the election in 2016 through a convoluted and archaic election process referred to as the electoral college. That means more Americans voted against Trump than for him in 2016. Even more Americans voted against him in 2020. The Republicans know this and see the pattern. This explains the new tactic of discouraging voters that are on the fence about even getting out to vote, rigging the ballot counting process and pushing election doubt. They cannot win a presidential election fairly. A minority party has no choice but to keep all eligible voters from participating or change the rules. Basic math proves this.
Sane Americans will be impacted too. And we are trying as hard as we can to bring some rationality.

The only time i’ve seen this sort of intense, emotion based belief system has been with fringe religious types and thankfully that’s quite rare in the UK. The scary thought for me is you cannot debate or rationalise with fervent belief and in our own history in the UK, it rarely has turned out well when fundamentalists get power.

As a Canadian, I don't quite understand why Americans think they can just come live in Canada whenever they feel like it. We have our own laws around immigration.

As Americans, it has been programmed into us over and over that we are the greatest most righteous people to ever walk the earth. So, most (without ever doing a scrap of research) just think that Canada (or anywhere else really) would roll out the red carpet despite having little to no skills (or anything useful) to contribute to the country they want to escape to.
We might humbly request to take refuge there if Kari Lake secedes Arizona from the USA and declares all border crossers an enemy invasion.
