Ban books, completely re-write history to fit the desired narrative and simply believe what you're TOLD instead of seeking the truth...all those pesky facts only cause confusion and get in the way, so we obviously don't need them, right? Despite the rhetoric, reading "The Communist Manifesto" won't make you Communist or Marxist, but it will make you informed aka WOKE aka awakened from the slumber of ignorance. Sure there is corruption too in democracies, but at least here, we have some fighting chance to oust them from power, try doing that in a dictatorship, good luck with that.
"Which means the possibility of the corrupts and extremists reaching power"
HAHAHA! Yeah, because no one has heard of dictators doing the most appalling and horrendous crimes and atrocities to their country's populations, in addition to a tendency to going to war with neighboring countries and subjugating more people... man, have you ever picked up a single history book?
Sure there have been some benevolent dictators (as there have been dozens of presidents who actually try and do the right thing), I won't try and deny that, but focusing on that is stupid, the point is that, no one should ever be able to wield that much power, because the potential for disaster and downright enslavement of swathes of populations becomes a matter of what mood, this single person is in... that is nightmarish!
      "Prosperity of non-democratic countries"
Obviously you don't even know what GDP is; democracies have overall the strongest economies.

      1) Our politics has only two parties. So, politically speaking, there is an obvious dichotomy (are you with me or are you against me).
      2) US Media has been very focused on this dichotomy for a very long time.
      3) There has been a very explicitly controlled and extremely well funded effort by right wing groups to push a right wing narrative which most definitely includes propaganda. They are using this effort to enact change (politically, financially and socially). People who don't like this have no choice but to support the Democrats (whether they actually like the Democrats or not).

If you’re not a lawyer then you’re not going to know how to read laws correctly and understand the ACTUAL meanings..

There is a reason we have people who spend their lives studying ONE subject and relaying that information to us.

I was raised in a pretty middle of the political spectrum mid western family. We all moved to Texas in the 70's when the economy in the midwest went to hell. My brother and his family have lived in College Station tx for 50 years. His family has become very evangelical and very pro Trump. (As an economics professor, he has remained fiscally conservative, but balks at Trump republicanism. I have a super conservative Dallas sister and a super liberal Fort Worth sister. I"m a left leaning centrist, or try to be. I'm certainly a social liberal if nothing else. We can't even get together as a family anymore. My sisters haven't spoken to each other in 10 years. A visit to my brother's family includes Fox News 24/7 on the tv. We were all raised in the same family by the same parents. My dad worshipped JFK although he leaned pretty racist and classist economically. My mom was a liberal high school English teacher. We used to enjoy each others company. Now, if I talk to one sister the gets angry. I can't even mention the other one's name in their presence.
My own experience in Texas is that it didn't used to be this way. When I moved here we had a Democrat governor. In the 90's we had a Democrat female governor. Today we have one of the most conservative Republican governors in the country. I don't understand what's happened.
I don't think we are witnessing the end of truth. I think we are witnessing the end of trust, which is even worse.

It's a myth that the general public ever had democracy, but that is not to say that democracy did not and does not exist; it definitely does but only for the corporate and powerful elite class who are the ones who fund campaigns, control elections, and who basically have bought out Congress and the State Houses. Yet it should be noted that throughout American history, in lieu of our government not acting to help people, individuals have continually acted on their own to change public policy and society,. If fact, all of the major social progress ever achieved in our nation's history has been initiated and primarily fought for by individual citizens who were able to recognized a certain social injustice, join with like minded people, figure out a course of action in order to resolve the problem, and then proceed to do it until a practical and logical resolution was achieved, and even though this could be called anarchism, it is also democracy, but these achievements often took decades to achieve and often at a cost of people's lives. And so, when I say we don't have democracy, I am referring to not have a safe and secure democratic structure in which the general public can express their public voice, unite, and exert and wield real democratic power upon society. With most phones now having internet access, we now have the means, along with our personal computers that many people, to implement an online, democrat, public platform for the general public so that ordinary concerned citizens could have the ongoing opportunity to participate in the political process in a very meaningful and constructive way. znetwork.org/znetarticle/on-establishing-an-online-democratic-platform-for-the-general-public/
