In this video, Vinh Giang performs an incredible routine known as "The Lie Detector". The great thing about this trick is that it requires absolutely no technical skill at all. It's pure showmanship and presentation, and when performed well it's extremely powerful. It's an excellent way to use a deck of cards to explore human psychology and personal connection.

52Kards I love his passion in this. I think on of my biggest downfalls is not using simple tricks because I don't think it's that effective, but this guy however opened my eyes to it.

52Kards that's what I love about magic because of the showmanship especially if you can make it yours. I feel majority of aspiring magicians take a package effect and use as is rather than making it theirs and giving it flavor.

One thing about Vinh that's always stuck out to me is his ability to weave a story around a trick. He seems to talk just the right amount and it always seems like every word he's saying is important. It's mind boggling how he manages to take a simple force and turn it into a really powerful effect. good stuff

Please, please give us more actual performances to a live audience like this!
These kind of videos are tremendously instructive regardless of the trick. It teaches us the approach, the hook, the patter, the reveal, and even how to leave gracefully. I'm sure a lot of awkward beginner performers like me gained a lot from watching this.
    Thank you Vinh and Asad.

The trick is at 0:31 seconds. It’s the switch to the card he knows, then when he lays the cards back on each other, there is a slight turn on the deck where the split it. Genius switch…so quick

Amazing trick, great content as always Asad. I think the reaction would be better if he'd hold the card with him, maybe on his pocket. I personally always feel when a trick ends like that ppl kinda think "is this a lie? Maybe this guy is a friend of the magician". I certainly do think that. But maybe it's just me.

That's such a brilliant presentation ... Amazing involvement of the group of people ... Hats off bro .. I will dedicate more work on my presentations from now on on the very few tricks that I know ..
Although would like to know one thing from you guys ... sometimes the trick itself is a bit lengthy ones, like a card turning trick by the professor (don't want to give the name, hope u understood) ... Would you recommend to add more presentation to tricks like that ... as the those tricks have a triumph effect in themselves ...

The fact that a spectator guessed the card was between 6 and 9 even before Vinh was great : it means that Vinh's presentation of the trick is logic and very well designed so that even spectators can try (and in this case succeed) to guess; and on top of that, it was a great convincer for all the other spectators because it proves that it is really cold reading/body language (when it's not).
It shows that presentation of a trick, even a simple like this one, is everything. Great video !

Actually - looking at it again, it looks like it doesn't matter what card is on top. When he spreads the cards out at 0:23, he just looks to see what card is on top and keeps it on top with the criss cross cut.

Theres so many ways to force the card but i created one in my mind when i watched the video... when the cards have been shuffled and you spread them on the table, you can bend half of the cards where you want and before that you have to spread the card face up to remember the last card thats gonna be their card and when you bend the half of the card WHILE YOU SPEAK TO THEM (misdirection) you will know exacly what are the card...becouse they will cut the deck exacly where you want...
