    The idea of using a duplicate corner as a receipt in restoring the card is an old principle that has been published by numerous magicians over the years. The handling of using the box to restore the card is inspired by Jay Sankey.

    Wow, one of the best tutorials I've seen on RUclips. Clear, planned and structured layout. Intro, actual performance, breakdown of the moves, variation, tips. And a BIG thank you for keeping everything you say relevant, not rambling on or doing unnecessary things like adding jump cuts to your face.
    Subbing just for the quality of this video. I thought videos like this died out on RUclips.

    Love the trick and great tutorial. Your variation of torn and restored is so much simpler yet I have found that it has a greater effect on audience as there is less need to worry about angles and the whole routines flows more. Keep up the great tutorials.😄

      Use a piece of paper with the same dimension, just to make sure that you do the correct moves. After practice a lot you try with a real card, with a cheap deck :DD (sry for my poor english, hope you understand the message)

      Or just buy a one way force deck

    • @tuckerwarlock
      @tuckerwarlock 8 лет назад +11

      You only need 2 decks of the same color. You can perform this at least a dozen times before needing another pack of cards. Most people wouldn't know the difference between 52 cards, and 40 something cards.

    • @patrickdeviney904
      @patrickdeviney904 8 лет назад +15

      Try buying Bicycle pinochle decks. They come with two of each card (A,K,Q,J,10,9) and have the same back design as a standard bicycle deck. Always helpful when you need duplicated; plus you don't need to worry about destroying a full deck.

    Nice effect and excellent tutorial. One weakness in my eye is there's no reason why the observer needs to sign the card piece. Obviously, from the effects viewpoint it's to give a reason to put a hand into a pocket so you can drop the torn pieces as you pull out the sharpie. How about, after doing the shaking the card box "can you hear the pieces" thing you add the signed fragment to the box and then do the magic move?

    p.s. for those who didn't like the force, you have a ton of options. Check out "40 WAYS TO FORCE A CARD", "The Classic Force" by Paul Green, & lastly, one of the most "foolproof" forces; "The Way of Shinobi" (yes, weird title) by Emran Riaz. All are in-print DVDs.

    Great trick. I have a torn and restored trick that I've been using for years, but you are left with a piece at the end and have to ditch it. With yours, you start with the corner and end clean. Even though the other way looks a lot more realistic because you actually make the card restore in front of them instead of a box, and I've yet to be caught with the piece, I'd rather end clean like yours, well done.

    This video made me subscribe to your channel immediately!
    Not only is it such a powerful effect.
    Your routine is composed so well, it provides for all difficulties, which could occur doing this effect.
    And finally your teaching is so good, because it is clear, detailed and even considers the small, but yet so important subtleties in perfomance, which create a miracle from a trick.
    Beautyful !

    If you fold the restored card in a particular way it will actually look like card pieces inside the box. Shaking the box from side to side you can actually show them the restored card at the bottom of the box with a quick peek, their persistence of memory makes them think its the pieces of the torn card. THIS makes the final effect even more profound.

    Great tutorial. I think a powerful reveal would be to slide out the card slowly as you did in the alternate reveal, and actually make them think the pieces are in there, by pretending to be careful to not let them fall out as you pull out the folded up card. Make it obvious. Then they'll probably say "I think the pieces are still in the box". Hand them the box at that point, or drop it on the table in front of them. Extra wow factor.

  • @DonCooper96
    @DonCooper96 8 лет назад

    Will try the Sharpie route myself and judge the reaction, but may also try: Going for a lighter in my left pocket and handing out to the spectator to verify it/test it (Gives a reason to ditch the pieces). Then you can take it back, warm the box with the lighter/do a move. This would be good for people who feel the signing doesn't make sense

  • @zalikster

    Thanks for the vid, great effect!
    At the part where you fake out for the pen grab, you could maybe stabilize the box with your right hand while you curl your left hand's fingers around the torn pieces, and then let the box rest between your left index and thumb, then go for the right pocket as usual, but then when you swap the box into your right hand you already have the torn pieces covered (in your partly closed hand). it's almost the same thing, but it breaks the unsafe part into 2 smaller bits, plus you don't have to wrist kill at all...
    Just a thought, I'll have to go and try it though. Thanks again :)

    This is similar to Missing Evidence by Jay Sankey. You can use the patter for that effect to justify the signing of the corner. Great video!

    Really nice voice I have to say. Very cool card trick as well. I like the points you have mentioned and the different topics. For me the best topic was the angle topic because I think nobody does it in that detailed way.
    I really look forward to new videos with you and the tutorials you hopefully will keep doing and in exactly that way :D
    Have a nice day

    Very Nice! One suggestion: I'd let the SPECTATOR pull the card out of the box.The more spectator interaction, the better. Plus the fact that your handsdon't touch the final "restored" card, is an extra bit of a mental convincer. (imho).

    VERY cool! 😎 Okay, I'll admit it: even staring at it I kept thinking, "Okay, obviously the card has to be forced, but WHICH force is he using??" It wasn't until you started into the explanation and said that the forced card had to go on TOP of the deck that it hit me. Then I just felt silly. 👍👍

    This is a great trick that I love to perform. The only difference I would suggest is keeping one or two pieces with the Gimmick card. When you pull it out and it is folded with a few loose peices in front it is a lot more magical because you can show the few loose peices and then they can see the card being restored right in front of them. For tips on how to hide the loose peices look up a standard Torn and restored card or newspaper trick :) Enjoy!
