Good video....but Japan didn't event that...my uncle had a very very similar rig except he used a piece of 1/4 copper to weight it..25 years ago....this isn't new
Me and one of my high-school buddies did something very similar to this using the old gas station coffee straws and three bracelet beads. We were quite successful getting strike when the bass were finicky. Anyways, we took our lure and showed it to the owner of our local bait and fishing shop. He just laughed at us. No sale was ever made from our wiggle worm idea. 27 years ago. 😆
The creme worm rig for me about 30 years ago. You could hook it so the worm was wave shaped with 2 hooks. It would make it spiral giving a sort of barber shop pole illusion to wiggling. Tied it to a swivel. Very similar concept. Did have some 20 bass days on it. Had a group of people at a heavily pressured forest preserve following me around asking what i was using 😂
I saw an early video of this and was like "No way, no one will have heard about this, i'll be able to use this all spring... Then one video.. and two videos.. and five videos... This community is never slackin, ya gotta love it. Great video, man.
Thought the same. No secrets anymore. From i see We may have been caught, Yesterday every sunfish in the river got a message. Come see this, I gave up !
I spent time in Japan and other Asia counties and learned this some time ago there. Also have seen and noticed the other videos popping up over the last week. Then yours popped up on my feed and yes you are rigging it pretty much the way I learned. I make a lot of them at once, so you have them ready to just tie on. A variation I do to some is instead of the ring eyelet at the end I use a hook and put it in weed less at the tail end for short strikes, so what I have is a hook tied at the of the line and a sliding hook for the top. Is this the new great rig? I don't know but I do have fun playing with new ideas. Nice video and I think the stir straws are a good idea.
I watch a lot of content creators on here and my top two are you and Milliken fishing. It would be awesome if you two could collaborate, because unlike a lot of guys not only do you put out content, you also explain why you're doing what you're doing and how to do it properly.
Yup, I'm gonna try this rig very soon. I live and work by a bass lake that is kinda small(just a little over 100 acres) and gets some heavy pressure and the bigger fish get harder to catch because they have tasted just about every lure and bait. I did get a nice 4 pound largemouth after work today, first nice fish of the season for me.
Yeah, I tried that in potholes Washington state. I killed it. Only problem is once I caught a fish it destroyed the rig superglue. It’s not enough I had to make a bunch of rigs , had to change each one every time I caught a fish. Not sure about the straw. Maybe I need to sand the straw for the glue sticks, but once I caught fish, the straws came out. The whole thing came apart, but I caught a nice bass. This definitely works, but just know that you have to make a bunch of these rigs because every fish will destroy your rig. 😢
I have a tip for the tubing, if you’re in the north where people float fish they make surgical tubing to fix floats onto peoples line, easily found 1/16 inch tubing that way
Pretty Awesome! I'm gonna give it a whirl! This may be the bomb for bed fishing to be able to wiggle a worm on the bed. I know alot of guys are against it, but if your fishing that time of year your bed fishing, so many of them make their beds deeper, especially spot, you just don't realize they're bedfish.
when i 1st saw this rig i thought it wld be a pain to rig but once u broke it down i understood exactly how it works. i watched other videos but they wld leave steps out so thanks for the breakdown
I saw this done a good while back. It is complicated because you have to use a small tubing so the line moves freely. But yes it does work. I used the tube from a wd40 can.
The straws that come on WD 40, brake cleaner cans ect, work really well. Also I put a small treble hook on the split ring for short strike. Then buried one of the trebles into the worm so it stays put. And it does work. Got fish on it and got a couple by the trebles at the end of the worm. Just thoughts for you.
Great setup walkthrough. Thanks for posting. I'm wondering if adding one of those VMC Crossover rings for the hook would be a good idea. They help go through less plastics and jf you're spending the extra time to construct this thing any extra uses you can get would be nice.
Sweet concept. But I can’t see it being a viable option because of the set up time. Maybe some company will start coming out with the worms already set up. Then googan will copy it 😂. Kidding of course. Great video!
Definitely a longer set up but after I did it a few times it was a lot quicker than doing a demonstration. You could probably set up 5 in about 10 minutes. But is it worth it…still have to figure that out
@@BassFishingHQ just like anything practice makes perfect. A quick idea for on the water rigging. Have several straw sections pre cut at an angle and you can individually pierce each section. Just dab glue on when its nearly seated on the flat end. Once you do that you can push it the rest of the short distance and cut the angled end piece. Rinse repeat and then thread your line tie off on the ring and presto. (Of course have your hook already on the line or you just wasted too much time lol)
You can always prep a bunch of worms ahead. thats the time consuming part. i think rigging it with prepared worms wouldnt take much longer than anythinf else.
First of all you could pre-rig a bunch before you get out on the water so you’re ready to go. Second of all I saw a icast 2021 video with this rig in it. It appears you can or will soon be able to purchase this pre-rigged. However you might not be able to choose your own worm or hook. Therefore experimenting, finding what plastic and hook combo you like, and making them at home seems like a viable option to me personally. Just my two cents.
Really cool idea. I wish I could get it to work right for me. It doesn't slink around very well the times I have tried to do this. Good thing worms are cheap. Going to try again tonight.

Grabbed 5 stirrers from &-11 with my coffee. I figure 250 is a bit much LOL. Thanks, bro. Been over 20 since did freshwater so trying to catch up on new stuff and ideas.
I saw a video the other day on this rig, but I have to admit I do not have the patience for all of the moving parts and the time that it takes to put together. I would literally have to sit down the night before and pre rig about 10 of them in case I were to either break off, flinging my bait across the lake in real in just a hook, etc etc etc and I just don't know if I have the patience for that because this bait, even though it looks really easy to try to rig, I DID RIG ONE, it's not anything you can do on the fly on the boat in the waves with the wind blowing if you don't already have some pre-rigged ready to go. But I can also see the upside an all of the cons on the bait itself because of the action it in parts and how realistic it actually looks. I promise you man these Japanese guys that come up with some of the most basic but outside the box techniques that's ever came out are so simple but ingenious!
you would have to setup a bunch of worms with straw already in it the night before. and also after fish tears worm you have to cut ring off and re-tie each time

@Jon Randough Better than expected, and I expected a lot. Let me just say that catch & release has been the norm for a couple of months now, because there's no more room in the freezer. The White GULP worm version scores highest, so far.
Two concerns---1st is hook set and keeping them hooked on a free-floating hook. 2nd, what is the action truly like in the water when there is nothing to hold the head in place while the tail is moving. Guess I'll play around with it and see.
You could premake the worms with the straws or tube and have them on hand. Since there’s no real knot but at the split ring end, its would actually be pretty fast in my opinion
Love the Channel....Everyone is throwing up videos, but only the orginal guys seems to have fished it. I think zhb485 is asking the right question. Hook up and boating. This is not a hard set bait. Its not great that you have to compress (or ripout) the worm before you can put any tension on the hook. Might be worth the trade of for the great action. Maybe I am just having a hard time visualizing it. I am not a hater. I tied up 4 and am heading out in the AM.
Curious…How did they work for you?? This is the third video that pops up on my feed in less than 24 hours. Every video is of how to rig it, haven’t seen (or looked for) a video of someone actually fishing with it, YET
@@ptothe0 Not much help here. I rigged up different alternatives. Unfortunately today I tried a thinner (ill-advised) worm. Going for a leech look given the action, but the diameter was too small to spring back well. Just cant picture hooks up. Wonder if anyone ever fishes a free floating drop shot between split rings or swivels?
I was having trouble pushing the straw through the plastic, so I put a toothpick inside it. Hope that helps somebody. Also planning on running it with a spinner on the split ring to give it some flash.
Not a bad concept the make the wacky more wiggly...but...where's the actual field test? is there a part 2 where we see the rig in action? Is it better with a Carolina or Texas or is there a preferred/better way to weight it and retrieve it? - I know I am seeing it for the 1st time but...TYVM for teaching us the rig :D
This is definitely an awesome rig...crazy movement will certainly attract and catch fish....but, companies need to commercially mass manufacture this. Ain't nobody got time to be making a supply of these to last through a full fishing season!
As a side note on the rig...rather than use the split ring at the tail end of the worm, one can use a second wacky hook, to increase hook-up possibility. AND, rather than skin hook the worm, an o-ring can be utilized, to help keep that time consuming creation of a worm from being destroyed so quickly.
Older anglers out there might remember a worm th Creme sold that was similar to this that came with two weed guarded hooks. This worms action is much different though.
So just wondering, I just rigged up a couple of these I'm going to run out and try them at my local pond, but if I catch a fish is it just going to destroy the rig each time? I mean it just threads through that hook so essentially to get pressure on it it's going to have to bottom out on that split ring which with enough pressure from the fish, I would think would tear the worm right off by those tubes. Then again those tubes May possibly save the worm I don't know I guess it depends how big the fish is.
So does that straw, in any way, Frey up the line? I would think you may have to use a lighter to take away the sharp edges. And would it be possible to use a Palomar knot so the hook is taking all of the stress of the weight of the fish?

@@jayc5373 I’d be interested to see a) if this rig gains popularity here and b) if so, how it evolves as people make their own variations.
Yes it is and the worm essentially gets destroyed from down pressure from the hook. It's a one fish bait for the most part
Fished it today, answer YES makes a mess. Had a stinger hook instead of a split ring. Every sunfish in the river hit it. Needs more work !

Yeah, I think that’d help with a better hook set incase the other on doesn’t catch👍🏾
Treble hook, no skin hook needed. Also leaf spinners are an option, weights or feathered trebel hooks.
My biggest concern would be hookup. Seems like you would be jamming the whole worm up towards the hook while you set the hook.
You are correct That is exactly what happens ! I am attempting a fix by a 2nd line from the hook to a swivel. Not convinced this will work.

Going for a leech look given the action, but the diameter was too small to spring back well. Just cant picture hooks up. Wonder if anyone ever fishes a free floating drop shot between split rings or swivels?
Solid stuff saw a previous video on how to rig it but you go into much more detail 👍
I was having trouble pushing the straw through the plastic, so I put a toothpick inside it. Hope that helps somebody. Also planning on running it with a spinner on the split ring to give it some flash.
Excelente vídeo. Estás de parabéns pela demonstração. Simples, fácil, prático, tudo muito bem explicado. Parabéns. Valeu!
I can't wait to try this
I used the straw from a WD-40 can. And I use a treble hook instead of a split ring.
I looks like if you took some bobber stops and a split shot so it works a little quicker just an idea though
Will you make a vid of you fishing it? Are there any vids of anyone fishing it?
Thank you for sharing.
Awesome job need to try this.
Older anglers out there might remember a worm th Creme sold that was similar to this that came with two weed guarded hooks. This worms action is much different though.
I seen some people say it hooks the fish deep. For that reason i won’t fish it but it looks pretty interesting.
Wd40 straws work great
So just wondering, I just rigged up a couple of these I'm going to run out and try them at my local pond, but if I catch a fish is it just going to destroy the rig each time? I mean it just threads through that hook so essentially to get pressure on it it's going to have to bottom out on that split ring which with enough pressure from the fish, I would think would tear the worm right off by those tubes. Then again those tubes May possibly save the worm I don't know I guess it depends how big the fish is.
I wander how it would move under water ? Don’t think it will move exact like it does in your hand ..... but I’m willing to try something new tho
What if I wanna put a sinker on it? Where should I put it?
Dollar store Q-tips are made of plastic tubbing …. You have the choice of using new w-tips or recycle used q-tip by cutting of the cotton ends.
Great Job, Thank You!!!
The new 🔥 setup apparently. I'm too impatient where's my trick work amd EWG hook haha.
Good call on the coffee straws, can’t wait to give it a try
So does that straw, in any way, Frey up the line? I would think you may have to use a lighter to take away the sharp edges. And would it be possible to use a Palomar knot so the hook is taking all of the stress of the weight of the fish?
Use carp tubeing what you get for fishing carp
