Thanks for this Steve. You’re the reason I bought one of those cheap DMX controllers for my laser and then a whole new laser. Cheers my friend
Thanks for watching this one Mark!
Very good work-around! Great job, thanks! Detail were awesome!
Really appreciate the kind words- thanks for watching!
That is amazing, we had no idea you could do that.
Thanks for making an amazing product!!
Very useful video. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful and appreciate you watching!
educational and helpful! and that's good for me. I am just new learner of laser lighting 😎
Glad it was helpful and thanks so much for watching!
Thanks this is a super helpful video. This cube looks great and great for a novice like me. Couple questions 1)can you operate more than one cube at a time to make things a bit more complex? 2) what other simple to use
Compatible lighting devices would you recommend pairing with this cube?
Hi- yes the LaserCube is really awesome! You can definitely operate more than one at a time. There is a wealth of info on these on this reddit thread: www.reddit.com/r/LaserDock/
In terms other, simple to use compatible devices you can combine laser effects with conventional DMX stage lights which I will be demonstrating in an upcoming video- appreciate you watching!
Pretty Slick!
Thanks for watching!
amazing! thank you (:
Thank you for watching!
Great channel, great content. Instant subscribe. :) I love music-synced light shows with haze. :D I've installed and operated some in the past. :)
Wow - thanks for those kind words!! I've been fascinated with light shows since the first concerts (and Laserium) I went to back in high school. Always gives me a thrill to see lights synced to music :)
@@LearnLizard Cool! :) The more videos I watched the more grateful I was - thank you for your work. :)
I'm super happy I found your channel. I'm not a pro, I just want to make my house look like a dance floor. You are a good teacher. You have inspired me. The price on this laser though, not today.
Appreciate your kind words! I will be posting a video soon showing a laser that is much less expensive. Please stay tuned...
thanks I love it because I want to do it with lasercube and apc40 mk2
Thats a great controller! I'm planning to do more videos showing how the LaserCube can be controlled with Ableton and a an Android device. Stay tuned :)
@@LearnLizard I will be very aware of your videos ... I would love to teach me how to map and handle the apc40 mk2 with the lasercube
Wow! I need one. Pity they not available in South Africa.
I love your work and thoroughly enjoying all your videos even though I don't own a single fixture :)
I really appreciate your kind words of support!
...and I hope Wicked Lasers is able to ship product into South Africa in 2020. Its an amazing little device.
@@LearnLizard here's hoping.
Thank you for the concise and informative tutorials.
Kind greetings to you and your family for this time of year. Your music compositions are cooker.
@@metafuel Thanks for noticing the music! Happy Holidays to you and yours :)
Do you run a DJ/Light shop or something? These tutorials are awesome, I just wish there were more of them lol.
Thanks so much for your kind words! I have a small lighting business but mainly have enjoyed doing lighting for various bands thru the years-- Bottom line: I just love DMX lights!
Really appreciate you watching
Hi! thanks for the nice tutorial. Can I export some of these laser designs to my other laser scanners? If so, how can I do this because my other laser scanner uses .lid files? Is there any way that you can make a tutorial on exporting files to other scanners---that would be awesome of you.
Hi and thanks for the kind words! The lasercube documentation says that the operating system can load .lid files but I haven't seen any descriptions of how to export them. There is a great thread on reddit where people discuss all kinds of tech related issues and you may be able to get a better idea of .lid capabilities here: www.reddit.com/r/LaserDock/
I love your videos Steve. I'm not a DJ or do lighting for anyone but think this lighting stuff is really cool😎
Is there a way you can program lighting and laser to come on and off for a specific song? In other words, song starts and you hit start and light show is timed to the song's length? Lights know to turn to specific colors at chorus or solo of song?
Thanks for the kind words. You can definitely sync your lighting scenes to a music track. Here's how to do it with an iPad: ruclips.net/video/TlQPGW-gHGE/видео.html
The key is to create a guide track (with either a simple click or drums) that you can play on top of. Other than that you could also use a foot switch to change scenes while you play. Hope that helps and good luck!
Usually we call it a Time based lasershow or Timecode, (TC for short)
QS usually are the most widely use software for lasers as beginner..
While #BEYOND are definitely FTW c:
love it ! we a have a few Full color animation DMX lasers , and we are getting over the (presets) , >.< hopefully we can accomplish something like this :) ty
The LaserOS software has tons of amazing looking patterns and they regularly update with new content. I'm always finding something new and inspiring. A definitely recommend!
@@LearnLizard thank you !!!
I have a question, how long does the 1.2W lasercube run for (is it cooled enough to keep on a charger or should i blow a fan on it
I've run mine for several hours with no problem. The Wicked Lasers website says: "There is a built-in temperature sensor which shuts off the laser at 104°F / 40°C to protect the LaserCube from overheating" Maybe for long periods in a hot environment you would need to worry about overheating, but it does have its own built in cooling fan.
This is so cool, are there any cheaper (under $100 usd) programable laser shows options?
Hi- You can definitely find different options for budget lasers that can be controlled by dmx for under $100. As long as you can select different patterns via dmx, and have a dmx controller setup (software or hardware) you can program a show. Here are some different budget lasers to check out:

Are you able to create your own animations in LaserOS for the laser cube to project?
You can create simple pattern animations in LaserOS with the Abstracts app (and you can import images and draw static images that you can add effects to) There are also compatible 3rd party apps (such as Modulaser) that will let you create more complex patterns and animations.
i have question,, i have buy 4 moving head DMX 512 ( Laser 1.5w ) how can program and created program laser with computer
What kind of laser do you have? Is it DMX capable? There are a few different computer apps (for both Mac and PC) that can control DMX fixtures if you have a compatible interface.
So how did you get your hands on one of the cube lasers? I would love to get one. Thanks
Hi- (Assuming you live in the States) At this point the way to get one is to purchase outside of the U.S. and get it shipped in as a gift using a parcel forwarding service. Its definitely worth it!!
LearnLizard is there a service you recommend??
Great video, do you how to get this in the US ??
Hi- You can finally get these in the US now - YEAH!
The distributor is X-Laser.com (866-702-7768)
...and thanks for the kind words
is there a way to do it with win 10 not a mac
Yep- LaserOS works on a Mac or PC and instead of Logic you can also use a free DAW called Waveform Free. Here's a video that shows how to set the whole thing up: ruclips.net/video/DURfeqnBMGw/видео.html
Will the laser OS do beam shows to music??
Great question. Although LaserOS has pretty sophisticated audio capabilities (visualizers can be synced to mic or other audio sources) audio doesn't seem to have any effect on the beam patterns. That would be a great addition as the beam effects really look awesome (especially with haze)
LearnLizard I’m reading you can use a software called LSX for beam shows!!
ok you show how to do this on a mac but can you make a video on how to do it in windows I'm lost trying to find apps like what your using
There is an easier way to do this now using a free DAW call Waveform Free that works on both a Mac and a PC. Here's a video that shows how:
ruclips.net/video/DURfeqnBMGw/видео.html
Also, since making that video, Wicked Lasers has updated their OS so you no longer need to use a virtual keyboard to program the hot keys. Check it out and let me know how it goes...
@@LearnLizard THANKS FOR GET BACK SO FAST ILL TRY IT OUT AND LET YOU KNOW
Hi Steve. Also everyone else out there. I've just purchased a 2nd hand Laser cube. USB 2 watt. It all looks to be running, but nothing is projecting. I can't get onto my network . All it says is No Laser when I look at LaserOS desktop. I'm hoping I'm just an idiot and not the other possible answer. That I've bought a duff laser cube. I downloaded the new update from LaserOS and installed.
All I get is the 2 white flashing lights on the cube and the 1 white flashing light on the emergency stop. As it's 2nd hand I didn't get any instructions manual. I use a MacBook Pro also my iPhone and neither get a connection.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Especially as the holiday seasons are drawing ever closer
Many thanks
Boz1070
Hi- First off you say its a USB 2 Watt (great unit) but you can't "get onto my network"
Of course this one doesn't have WIFI so the connection is completely with the USB cable. You need to make sure you have the interlock connected, then turn on the power switch and then the turn the key on in that order. When you see the "Laser Off" bar on the desktop click on it and it should turn to "Laser On". If that doesn't work, Wicked Lasers has good tech support and there are also many users exchanging info on reddit www.reddit.com/r/lasers and the facebook users group. Hope you get it up and running soon!
Many thanks Steve
I posted out to several forums and you all came back with the same answer. Thank you to you all. I have a working laser😁👍
@@boz1070 Awesome!!!
What about ordinary lasers with DMX?
There are some very simple and inexpensive lasers that can be controlled with DMX. Here are a couple videos showing you how:
ruclips.net/video/LJ3KqGUwi9c/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/pjcIotk0sbQ/видео.html
Appreciate you watching!
Is there a strobe feature
There's not an exact strobe effect that you can set, but when some of the patterns are synced to music they definitely act like they are strobing..
how would do it on pc
The LaserOS software is available for PC. You would also need a PC based DAW with good MIDI functionality such as Cubase or Cakewalk. Thanks for watching!
Does this work on garage band?
The desktop version of GarageBand won't output MIDI in real time (at least I can't figure out how to) so I don't know any way to have it control LaserOS directly. However there are 3rd party plugins that allow GarageBand IOS to output MIDI to external synths, so that should work to trigger LaserOS scenes, however I haven't tested yet. Planning to do a video on this if it works...
LearnLizard that would be great! Also if there was a way to program with just your keyboard using hot keys or a virtual midi controller
What music is that at 8:46?
I try to write/produce a little bit of music for each of my videos so thats something I put together for this one. (its actually one of my more favorite ones)
@@LearnLizard It's very nice :)
@@codacoder Thank you so much!
How-to for android video 🙏
I'd like to do a video on that- thanks for the suggestion. There is a version of LaserOS for Android so you can set up playlists and do some really cool things, but it doesn't have hot key functionality so at this point I don't know how you can sync it to a timeline - maybe Wicked Lasers will add hot keys to the OS in the future. Thanks for watching!
You can write an sentence to laser .
You can send MIDI messages to the LaserOS software that will trigger hot keys on the Laser. Sort of like writing a sentence to it!
i understood nothing at the end :( thanks anyways :)
Ha ha! - I wish I could have made it easier to understand, but its a bit complicated to get the LaserOS app completely synced to Logic. I have plans to make more videos in the future that explain it better. Thanks for watching!
