2000watt in a laser beam? There's 1000milliwatt in 1 watt. The lasercube is 2000 milliwatts or 2 watts. 2 watt output is considered large nightclub standard. Indoor festival and stage application starts at 4 watt. Outdoor lasers start at 15 watt if there's eyecontact or 30 watt when the laser runs complicated patterns or shoots over the crowd.
I had a X Laser Caliente years ago for $1000, with haze it’s crazy how it shoots across the whole venue and puts on a amazing show. Add a strobe and you got a mini concert.

Man its crazy to see how things have changed from when I threw raves in '99/'00 and my laser guy's rigs (Argon, YAG etc) were gigantic gass powered lasers that required a desktop pc to run and were so powerful that the 5w yag could actually make the cinderblock wall smoke at point blank distance and actually burned the wood and fabric moveable divider wall that split the arena we used. I know one of his lasers was from the medical field and was gigantic even compared to the "smaller" argon unit. But I do recall that the rule back then for any laser over 4.9mW was that it had to be placed high enough so that even on a downward sweep the beams stayed at least 8ft from the ground so that it wouldn't hit anyone in the eye (though that wasn't always adhered to as I took a 1W argon to the face multiple times at an event but luckily never head on/in the eyes. Also those rigs were often amaturely built to save money cuz a new high power model capable of doing full color and/or animation could cost $100K
can you lay your hands on any of the old laser controllers?? especially PM 21/22/25s ? or even laser innovations MIrage....I had both back in 00/01, wish i'd never sold them
Used to use Krypton/Argons up to 10w, even old Spectra Physics laser n optics bed! Thing I always remembered was the cooling fets for power supply, was like 100kg, use to call it the pig, had mains water running through it. That was late 80s early 90s, good times 😃
I like the lasercube. I saw it before it started in the US. I'm glad X-Laser got involved with selling them. This would be great for basic small shows, parities and home usage. I like that it comes with an E-Stop. The scanner being at 30k pps which gives pretty nice images at the end. The specs is really where you see why some lasers at the same wattage is more or less. Take the laser Cube specs. Blue 445nm / 1400m Green 520nm / 400m Red 635nm / 450mW. Red is always the weakest color to produce. Overall its the bast compact, battery powered and easy to use I've seen to date. I've had to buy lasers with more power rating just to get the RGB closer to the numbers I want instead the peak number.
It really depends on the class of the laser, not necessarily the power of it that determines how damaging it is to your eyes. A 0.1mw telecomms laser shone onto a regular brick wall has enough potency for the reflection alone to cause irreversible damage to your retinas or corneas. That is why as soon as the laser is disconnected out of circuit, an alarm will kick in and cut off the power to the laser. This stops engineers from being blinded. My biggest concern is that a 2000mw laser in the hands of somebody that has no laser safety training can and will cause serious eye injuries to party goers. My knowledge is a bit rusty, but I've 2x city & guilds qualifications ( 3466/3 and 3466/4 ) in singlemode and multimode fibre optics. Both also cover the basics of laser safety. My advice is that if you do not have a clear grasp of the basics of the dangers of lasers, then you should be nowhere near them.
