At the end of last year, Jean Arnas took 20 business class and economy flights in just two weeks in order to reach British Airways Gold status.

Employee: Travelling first class? 😄
Jean: No, economy.
Employee: You have a gold card? 🤨
Jean: Yes.
Employee: Absolutely, enjoy your lounge! 😄
Gives me the idea to try and blag my way in. Seems as thought they didnt even check for his gold card. Nice vid Jean!
@@submariner1695 There is always a desk inside the lounge down the corridor where they will actually check your pass/card.

With BA it's really not a difficult thing to get

It’s not a Jean video without a cheeky Bloody Mary
👍😆💜🥁🐉🎤
*JEAN IS THE PERSON WHO AIRLINE COMPANIES CONSIDER AS A PROFIT*
There’s loads of (corona) deals he’s taking advantage of, it might be much better to fly either these economy or business flights for the miles & price value. For instance with Lufthansa you have to fly 30 flight segments to get frequent flyer status, would you rather fly those segments only on first or take the most low cost economy flex for it. It’s more like these frequent flyer programmes are profiting on the second you sign up on it. Currently with the pandemic you can book some amazing business flights for really cheap.
c Jones it might be better to have a job that covers your travelling expenses. Look at for instance Vicarious Voyager, he is an university student and the university’s sponsors pay for his flights. Credit card perks are one of the best ways to get status quickly. Travel blogging like RUclips is a great way to earn more money if you’re popular enough.
@@henriaunin Really, I assumed he was some Tech guy travelling for business, never realised he's so young. But how and why does the university sponsor BUSINESS class flights?
@@sonicyouth1915 I remember him answering on his Q&A. It was some american company (who was sponsoring the university) paying for his flights, since he has to travel a lot because of his doctor’s.
User He started in December so this was before all the COVID deals
This 10 minutes video alone gave me jetlag.
Hello Parikshit i have finally found someone as same name as mine. Nice to meet you.
@@parikshitkaswan5133 nice to meet you bro!! Cheers.
Fan of India.. love from Singapore and Philippines
Jean: "As you know, I always fly Economy."
Us: What is with the 5 business class flights???
the others travel on first class and buisnnes more than jean
in the same flight comparisons, jean is almost always in economy
The style of this video is very reminiscent of Casey Neistats 2013 video “Free Business Class Upgrades, every time”. 20 legs in 2 weeks in a grind! Worth it 👊
Aditya Shah true!
I was thinking the same thing! But even that one is outdated since AA changed its loyalty program, and now it's also based on spend.
Boilermaker yea. The new program is hot garbage 🤦♂️
OMG I was thinking the same thing!
Zakari Emura the moment he pulled out the paper to draw 😂
Fun fact Finnair Intra-European business class from Helsinki to either Lisbon, Portugal or Malaga, Spain is over 2,000 mi in distance so these two also earn 140 Tier Points each (280 TP return).
Good to see you back! I loved my one trip I managed with Emirates when I was Skywards Gold... The international lounge access, The hello from the Purser on board. At priority check in I had some judgmental dude tell my family were in the wrong queue, because we obviously didn’t look the premium type, I loved it when we were ushered forward and he was redirected as he was “only” silver.
Jean is a beast
Aviation 16 MMMMMOOOOONNNNEEEEYYYYYYY lol
Agreed
SHHHHHHHH WE DONT SAY THAT
This was a cool video man. A lot of cool tips in it, like the 2000 mile= long haul thing etc... What I would like to know though is what was the total cost of the milage runs to get to the 1500 tier points? Including the flights you had to do to get to the start points: Dublin etc...
This seems a lot of travelling. With Qantas you have Double Status Weeks where for any booking you make (unlimited) if booked in that well you’ll get double the status credits.
You can fly Melbourne - Auckland Return in Business Class for 320 Status Credits with the Double Credits. And that’ll run you about $1000 AUD. You’ll also earn points bonuses ect. So for $4000 AUD or about $3000 USD you’ll get Qantas Platinum Status (Oneworld Emerald) for 12 months. Seems a lot cheaper than this :)
no way it's Jean on all them flights
The evidence is there.
S
There’s literally a video of it
How else is he going to earn the points, if it's not him?
I really miss Jean in the newer videos. Hope he’s doing great.
What happened
Perhaps one of my favourite videos so far.. Finally, someone who keeps it short and simple and gets straight to the point
So you basically spend 20K on flights, To get a free breakfast at the airport. Where do i sign up
That crazy
I pay for an AMEX Platinum to get lounge access 2-3x per year flying US domestic first class. Yes, I hate people enough to eat the annual fee just to not have to wait in the gate area for my flight.
@@jblyon2 yup same. I fly out of JFK or LGA about once a month to visit my mother and having the platinum card is great. Either Centurion in JFK or just the Delta Sky Club
It can be done for £3-4k
The flight seats are definitely better
Hi points guy do you think you will do another race like London to Spain train vs plane
Definitely! Watch this space
OH yes you gotta do that!
@@ThePointsGuyDepartures oooh
The plane would obviously winc
Yh it would
“How’s it going jetsetters Its Jean here with the points guy UK and today we’re going to stick it to OneWorld”
I love how many people are talking about my italian passport 🤣
I am Brazilian though 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷💚💛
How do you even acquire all these passports? 😂
Great video as usual. May I ask how much all those flights cost ?
Jean! No reply needed, just rewatched the video. I’m taking this challenge as soon as i can find some flights as cheap as The ones you got. Very valuable video.
Jean I am also Brazilian !!!!!! i love your videos
I didnt know you were brazillian
Now that’s what I call dedication for Jean and this channel!
Missed you TPG UK! Time for a cuppa TPG while I watch this ❤️
☕️
Most British thing I’ve ever seen.
Great video! As someone who is a Gold card holder and has done exactly this twice last year using Qatar (LON-BUD-TOK & LON-OSL-SIN) I always love explaining this to anyone I can find but don’t think they really understand it! Lol
Except I flew Club Europe (Business) from london to the connecting Qatar departure points. I also used the First class lounge at Doha.
Being Gold is awesome!
A video full of 'Jean Arnas' was ALL I wanted!!!!.
3:34 never knew Nicky was a Norwegian model for watches
I got upgraded to Bronze a couple weeks ago out of the blue, but I think now that it was cos of the 25% deal 😁
It makes your day to see TPG back
Yes
TPG UK should make a video comparing flights and airlines’ COVID-19 precautions, seeing how travel looks in this current state of pandemic.
Jean is Brazilian with an Italian passport, living in The Uk and has a German accent. it doesnt get any more confusing
have you ever heard german accent..? i highly doubt that!
A tip , I buy black luggage, paint my name, address and email in white paint on all 6 sides. It helps taxi people who meet you to take you to your hotel identify you. Less chance of anyone steeling your luggage by accident on the carosel.
Whenever I feel down I watch some point guys for two reasons;
- I'm a big fan of aviation
- They show us the comfort of first class and business class lounges and seats!
May you guys hit 250K subs and more, with ease and...
Great Vid Jean!
Who thinks that he has such a nice voice it is so soothing
love what you guys do. It would be nice if you let us know how much it cost you for your 20 flights to reach Gold.
Steve. C.
Can someone explain the point of this? Skipping the economy line I guess is nice, but a lot of airport lounges are only £20-30 to enter and if you have a good credit card it's free. I don't understand why he's spending thousands of pounds for perks that you can mostly get for free.
@Jukka Pekka yep
@CryptoJack I might be wrong but I saw in one of the tier welcome letters that you get 50% more avios as you level up so I'm assuming that also pays off in the long run
Gold members can get up to three bags at 32kg, upgrades, miles = free flights, priority check in and bags, better seat options, having status gets you various benefits and once your sapphire and emerald you can use any one world lounge and being in groups 1-4will give you priority boarding ( there are 8 groups). I’m sure I’ve missed out a few more perks but as someone who works in the industry i see the advantage. I’ve travelled in all cabins without lounge access and I can tell you I wouldn’t mind being sapphire (BA Silver) just to use the lounges as I always travel standby (staff travel)
Just some tips to people wanting to do a tier point run of their own:
It's going to be much more efficient to do ex eu flights (Sofia, Warsaw are normally best or OneWorld hubs like Madrid or Helsinki) to the east coast of US with a stop over in London and west coast, and then while you have time before your returm to Europe to do a return east to west coast. All in business class this will cost considerably less if you can optimise the flights with matrix.
Also at the moment, untill Dec 2024 BA holidays will double your tier points if you book 5 nights of hotel or car hire, you don't need to even collect or check in so you can hire a car for 5 nights in Sofia for likely much cheaper than America and just leave it in the car hire place while you're in the states.
It is possible to get gold status for £3000 this way, and easily for under £4000.
My goodness. I don't even have 1500 euro's to spend on a flight. Just flown twice in my life also! Wish I have the money too to travel that much just for fun or work!
He writes his trips off as business I'm guessing
Great video. I’ve been doing it all wrong , here I was enjoying my 14hr non-stop flights where I could have been breaking them up!
without viewing: mileage run... - now: offset emissions for that run...
YESSS they finally uploaded!!!!!!! I’m so happy
It's like upgrading levels in a game ; Only he just flies business class flights
Two words im loving from this channel. Jean and business(class) 😂 Stay safe guys!
LOVE your videos!! Congrats to you Jean, you certainly earned it. Hate Covid which affects seeing more of these!!
Two things: (1) I kept hearing Greta Thunberg in my mind: "How dare you?!" (2) This kind of flight pattern might get you body cavity search in customs...
2:53 why do you have the Italian passport? Lmaoo I’m Italian too!!
To be honest, i would rather say: “nope, economy today! I have a gold card!” Then “flying first class”
Remember: Mileage Runs aren't the thing if you're not already fly quite often. It's something for you if you'd usually fly just about, but not completely to get status.
Jean are you Italian??!?!?!? I didn’t know that, it’s amazing. 😍
Jean is my favorite points guy! 💙
Even better: I have Flying Blue Gold, which I status matched to TAP (Star Alliance) Gold. Now I can literally get those perks on over 35 airlines… Work smarter, not harder.
Wonderful job as always Jean 👍🏻😎
I'm still 90 TP off the Silver mark with only a month to get the missing TP. Likely to need a TP run so that I'm not stuck in the rusty Bronze lane 😂
Finally I have been missing Jean he is my favorite ❤️💙💚💛🧡
I genuinely thought that was Nicky on that Huawei billboard at 3:34.
I have been waiting for this moment for months 😍 so glad you’re back!
LOL! I used to do these tricks, on U.S. flights. Back and forth to Texas, Cali etc. Works like a charm.
Nicky : " Lets take the bus to go to the next street "
Jean : I'm gonna catch the flight
LOL
What was the final cost though including hotels?
About as high as Snoop Dogg a while back I presume
I am exhausted just watching Jean take all those flights. However, it's a TPG video featuring Jean, so I'm delighted.
Bro since you already are gold tear on BA , maybe you can give Royal Jordanian airline a review ? They are also a part of one world and it would be good for you to earn miles as well .. please keep that one in mind :)
Amazing Jean, great video, love it. Looks like you had fun! Thanks for your great work.
he needs to do audiobooks his accent is amazing
Impressive! Between October and November of this year we are taking one U.S. domestic flight, one flight to Germany and another to Spain. Hopefully, that will be enough to keep us at Executive Platinum on American Airlines. If not there's always December!
ive seen nick on a flight before when i went to new York
Finally, they are back! Time for my Netflix and chill! 😂🤩
Great video!
Because most relevant bloggers are invited, which is something great :-) It helps me to see lots of great videos. And no in some cases, in higher categories "elite points" are for ever. Like Iberia Platinum Infinite. But you would need 200.000 points. With a flight to NY in coach, you just get 175 elite points. You could be your entire life collecting this points.
I used to do this.....chase them points....then I realized it's easier, less stressful, and cheaper to buy lounge access or upgrades in the long run.
YESSS THEY'RE BACK
You can take Biman Bangladesh airline IT very good you can flying on Business class from LHR to DAC then you want back London or still travel if you want
It your choice
Fair play to ya. I would consider that as a horrific ordeal!!
These guys are really underated. I really love this channel . Awesome quality and hosts. There videos get views occasionally but idk y not everytime. Anyways keep it up guys 🎉🎉
Reminds me of Nate's points run before him and Kara started traveling
Ultimate Flex of 2020:
I did an LHR-ARN, ARN-DOH, DOH-BKK return trip in February to get my BA gold too 😎
Great video!
Good to have you back!
Jean is the best!!
Came here from Josh Cahills live with you. Love it!!!
Thanks Anton!
I didn’t manage to watch since it wouldn’t load
We all missed you for a month ! Who else agrees
Or is it just me
Thank you TPGUK for giving us the idea and important knowledge !!
You Guys Rock !!
JEAN IS FINALLY IN BUSINESS HALLELUJAH. Corona ruins everything though :P
GabesDaBomb hes been in business several times and first class once
H Evans yes but barely compared to all the other ppl
imagine just having 1500 euros to drop every time, I wish lmao
Missing point guys videos in lockdown
You should definitely do a guide on star alliance member airlines too! After all, it's the biggest (?) alliance and has arguably the best airlines (e.g. Singapore). Too bad there are like 7 different mile types, lol.
It’s better
I'm confuzzled!!!
Really like the video, but 2:05 threw me off, x and y axis description should be switched :P
I'd have totally worked myself up to bronze by now if it weren't for covid!! Though currently my two BA flight a year won't do much. But as I registered as a blue member before my last flight, I had cabin crew personally welcome me as a member and offered me free water and things, my first solo flight to visit my brother in bulgaria and it made me feel so good. I know it's free to join but little things like that make me choose BA :)
Which flight price comparison site did you use to book your flights??? Thanks 😊
Great informative video. Well done.
I only counted 16 flights 14 of which were business. A really important point missed is that once you've achieved any level of status during your membership year you will retain that status for your following membership year. After that if you haven't requalified for that level you drop to the level below.
How about DEL-Kuala Lumpur-Tokyo-ORD - all J. It was fun. And got to experience 3 airlines - Malaysian, Japan and American Airlines.
This takes the catch flights not feelings motto to a whole other level
Love the Videos
Business travellers could earn airlines and hotels status easily. Nobody would fly 20 flights in few months for holidays. I am always silver or bronze, up and down depends on how frequently I pay for flights. Most of the time I redeemed point for flights which doesn’t give any tier point even I have to spend £1200 for 2for1 rewards flight to BKK twice a year. 😾
I luv this early mornin time... Especially at the airport it's so fancy....ugh and seeing u guys it's just 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Love the points Guy column online and your great videos... bringing a bit of fun to travel..... with lots of great tips... I'm a pretty frequent flyer myself.... missing the airport and that business or economy seat sooo much 😕.. keep up the good work guys ... this video is great... I almost copied the whole thing 2 years ago 👍👍👍
It really works! if you don't have a job or actually want to enjoy your vacation inside a plane.....
I don't know how BA works, but Finnair lets you swap reward points for tier points, 3-to-1. And you can buy reward points, so technically it is possible to buy tier points at
Finnair. But there are limits. Only half of the points needed for a tier can come from this exchange, so you still need to fly, just half the amount.
The price however is steep. Finnair Gold, giving OW Sapphire, requires 80.000 tier points, so you would need 120.000 reward points to get the 40.000.Those would cost 1500€. So it really isn't worthwhile. But it is a great way to get status, if you are just a little short and don't have time to fly, especially if you have a lot of reward points. Sometimes they have discounts on points, like at the moment, those 120.000 points would cost "only" 927€. Cheaper to get than by flying, but not as much fun of course.
Defo think someone should start a tier point run travel club where groups get together on a few routes to get the points. Beats sitting on your own in a hotel overnight when you could have a group to go out a have a few beers.
This man is the bravest man I've ever seen in my entire flight. How did he sit through 6 consecutive long hauls? Business class or not!
it's not that difficult if you enjoy flying. Even economy can be tolerable during international flights
This is definitely surprising video as I expect it as another Nicky and Jean flight, this video is more informative than entertaining tbh, nonetheless loved it! Is there going to be more detailed review of those 20 flights though?
Jean is always taking fancy flights and hotels when no one is there lol
Love from INDIA...
