I would just like to imagine a prankster making plasters of a footprint and starting this. Then realized how much bigger this had become, and thus had to continue the bit. Might have even gotten his buddies in on it, creating nearly identical footprints.

I was in Mexico taking a walk a couple years ago. I was walking on a dirt road when I noticed their were footprints on the ground. They were hoove shaped like a horse or a goat. The footprints were straight just like in the video. Then all of sudden the footprints stopped like if it just flew away….. I’ll never forget that. It was so creepy!! I believe whatever made those footprints on February 8, 1885 is the same thing that made footprints in Mexico….

Very interesting - especially as I live in Devon and have never heard of this. Devonport dockyard is in Plymouth - I live in the city of Exeter, which is about 70 miles from Plymouth. These days you would rarely find any footprints in snow, as the last time we had any significant snowfall in Devon was about 12 years ago... also, I was a bit confused by the mention of Dorset. The county of Dorset borders Devon. We're both in the Southwest of England, but Devon isn't in the county of Dorset.

there actually is a very scientific theory on what caused these tracks: people. as in, it was all faked. in victorian england any farmer wouldve been able to make a little wheel with fake (or even real) animal feet on it and rolled it for dozens of miles whilst wandering the area. making these marks on houses is also easy with some mud or paint.
why? bc it's a prank. people have pranked eachother forever. guy probably thought he was hilarious.

harmless walking and vanishing foot prints that cant be explained can be creepy for back in the days when things like that had less appearance and why they feel that way when seeing them, but now a days there's alot of myth creatures and unexplained things and why would the devil walk on cold winters and disappear if he consider to be so evil leaving foot prints on houses too x.x" i think there is other mythical creatures that have 2 hoofs aswell. just cause in that time period that all they believed in was christianity means it was that, but interesting story.
