- Here's Everything GREAT about Ultimate Spider-Man! Stick around till the end for my mini-review of the game. I kinda can't believe this game came from Activision and Treyarch, I mean really. A Spider-Man game from the developers that would go on to be... well what they are today. Ultimate Spider-Man is a treat and such a fun blast to the past of the PS2 era. Especially because we get to play as Venom. Nothing better than being able to do that.

The best part is how this game uses dialogue from the Ultimate Spider-Man comics. It was actually written by Brian Michael Bendis and made to be canon to the comics.
Cool
Crazy how they could print money if they just adapted comic book storylines exactly as they are in the comic. No need to change things like MCU. It would be something new and similar at the same time.
My understanding is that it is officially an issue of the comic. I have never read the comics so I can’t say. But I do really love how they do things things a little bit differently
Unfortunately, @@aaronworthing1023, this game isn't canon to the comics. USM is the return of Venom and that's about it. Carnage comes in as a clone of Richard Parker then Gwen Stacy and Sable knowing about Peter being Spider-Man is completely forgotten.
@@SuperRONDALEwell sometimes you need to change things to adapt to a storyline
They need to either A re release this game. Or make a second one. This game was fantastic back in the day!
Eu acho que não seria muito difícil trazer uma versão mobile
remaster it or something it was amazing
I second that ❤
this is quite possibly one of the best spider man games of all time
I remember spamming the air attacks to beat the goblin and venom boss fights. Those were good times.
I can’t believe you actually talk about this game it’s one of my favorites
5:38 I was reminded recently that those first few generations of console games owed so much to the arcade-generated, quarter-based gaming loop. ln other words, you’re *supposed* to lose bunches - the trick is to engage you exactly rewardingly enough that you’re really immersed in the experience, but challengingly enough that you keep shoving those quarters in.
Playing Marvel’s SM2 on Ultimate right now, and continually getting hosed by the Flame acolytes on basic app-alert feels pretty much the same.
8:22 of course, I didn’t think I was saying anything *you* didn’t know, but glad you mentioned it too!
Still my favorite Spidey game, even with the new competition thanks to Insomniac. The memories, the music, everything about this installment holds up for me to this day.
I remember it fondly. Never beat it, but back in the day me beating a game was rare and to be cherished.
This honestly was one of the first games that I can vividly remember completing multiple times. That racing sequence with the human torch lives in my mind.
I absolutely love how this game adapted the Mark Bagley art so perfectly. This game and the comics it's based on are why he's my favorite Spidey artist
10:08 I like how if you read this as a comic (which it is), this shot of rhino would be a splash page
This game was my childhood when it came too spiderman games. Loved the comic panel swaps in cutscenes, playing both hero and villain was awesome, and the story was cool as hell. So glad you guys covered it. 👏🏻🔥💯
This game was great, the box it came in was really cool too, it was a reflective plastic surface and red with spider logo and on the back was the purple black with the venom logo. Truely a very unique box
This game is pure nostalgia and i loved this game so much and i hope one day it comes back to newer consoles
I have poured thousands of hours into this game from the time it came out to this day. My PS2 still works and still has the save, so I can swing around in the Sybiote suit to my heart's content.
Man I’d love a feature film in this style
This is probably my most played PS2 game from when i was a kid. Great memories of trying to figure it out and asking for help because i was too small to do some of the fast bits. I never expected you to cover this game, but boy am i glad you did
Dude this was one of my favorite games as a kid!!! SO stoked that you’re covering it
Still my favourite Spider-Man game. I’m ecstatic that you’re converting it!!
I remember the comics. I remember the game. I rember my childhood.
Thanks
I immediately clicked this. This game was absolutely amazing, thanks for winning this one.
I remember playing the hell out of this game and having a blast playing as Venom. Good times 😌
This was always my favorite Spidey game until the Insomniac ones came out. To this day it holds a special place in my heart.
God this was such a great game I remember being stuck on the boss fight with goblin for months it was so frustrating
11:40 ayoooo!....you not wrong 🤣
First video game I ever played- and after a whole bunch of revisits, it’s stayed in my top ten even after like 16 years. Still ticked that just one piece of concept art is all we got for the sequel.
FUN FACT. You saying Venom felt more like a victim then a villain is exactly the intent. He was used, abused, and treated like some dangerous evil animal by Trask and furthering that point is Eddie being kept in that weird cage thing. Plus Venom being allowed to be an Anti-Hero instead of a villain legit is always a huge bonus win to me since it proves that despite his dark start he DOES care about others and his spiel about protecting innocents isn't a lie and something he's serious about.
Note that Venom's last boss fight isn't just to get control over the Symbiote but also to stop a FAR more dangerous Carnage transformed Peter Parker from getting loose and hurting others. A symbol of the wild animal Venom started as and no longer will be.
Classic! Loved this one as a kid and still love it now!!❤️❤️❤️❤️🕸️🕸️🕸️🕷️🕷️🕷️🕷️
It is crazy how much if this game i remember even tho i had completely forgotten it before watching this video.. the more I watched this video the more i rememeber every single thing about this game... why did my brain repress this?!?!
I played this game so many times as a kid, I even replayed it in high school and afterwards. I was fan of the ultimate Spider-Man comics so seeing it come to life through this game was a blast!!
I 100% this on the run up to SM2 and man it was such a nostalgia trip and made me realise I little of the story I actually played as a child.
The races were sick, combat tours low-key sucked and the tokens were just tokens. I love the story, I love the symbiote suit, I love all the characters in this game. 9/10 for me
One of the absolute bangers of old spider man games
One thing I loved about this game that I can’t remember any other Spider-Man game ever doing is having it where occasionally actual villains like Shocker and Boomerang will be the crime you have to stop.
THIS GAME WAS MY CHILDHOOD!!!!
I never realized how close I was to beating as a kid, I was at the Carnage boss fight and my brother and I were stuck for so long until we got rid of the old Xbox for a 360.
Cut to years later when I look up gameplay and find out I was on the second to last mission, and the game was LONG gone lol
This was my favorite spiderman game after spiderman 2 back in the day. The snappy dialogue, the venom segments and the new idea of carnage. everything was Chef's kiss for me.
My favorite childhood and my all time most played game with close to 5k hours
The amount of soul this game has truly makes it a game i will never forget
The venom sections are something I wish we would've gotten more of in the new game and then being able to free roam as him in the post game is truly incredible
What a pleasant surprise, while I never got the chance to play Thai game I read the first few comic issues and I was enjoying this incarnation a lot
man this was my first spidey game and it’s a core memory of my childhood
I think a daredevil game would be awesome, but they should make it look like he’s using echolocation, and you can only see people every couple days of secomds
I loved swinging around in Peter’s regular clothes as much as his Spidey suits. Never unlocked the black suit though. Wish more Spider-Man games let you do that.
All of my cousins had this game, and all of them beat it and replayed it numerous times, yet they never got the black suit. Its super difficult to get.
That was a nostalgic little trip down memory lane
I was 14 when this came out and it was my favorite PS2 game. Probably the only game I ever remember 100% completing multiple times. I want a remaster or something just to dive back into some nostalgia gaming.
I like that this game had a real comic-book feeling. Even by a look of your surroundings
7:15 - ahh, yeah. The moment where the whole game ended for most players due to game glitch
The Ultimate Spider-Man Video Game is absolute perfection because of the dialogue, the story, the gameplay, and the art itself. But most of all, you get to toss cars and Consume people as Ultimate Venom. Not to mention Sean Marquette's Awesome voice portrayal of Peter Parker/Ultimate Spider-Man.
But for me, my favorite part of the game is listening to the soundtrack OSTs and the Venom throw down OST is my favorite.
That Rhino joke made me laugh out loud. Loved this game. Played it endlessly on the GameCube.
Hey is that a horn in your pocket or..are..i am so scared I cannot finish my joke 🤣
It's nice to think back to a time where Treyarch was allowed to do more than just pump out another COD every other year.
This game was sick. I also lost to human torch about a million times when i was young
Dude’s bringing back a childhood memory of mine…
Played it in middle school, loved it so much.
That rhino crane part brought back an aggravating memory because I couldn’t figure it out as a kid myself. It took me so long.
First real game I played along with Iron Man, and Transformers. Could never get past Human Torch but boy did I have fun with this one everytime I played it on my dad's PS2. Hoping once I get mine fixed I find a copy.
Play and do more videos on classics like Metal Gear franchise, these ones are heavily story driven games, + Master Collection vol 1 was released recently that includes MGS1 MGS2 and MGS3.
Y'know, there actually WAS a Daredevil game on PS2. It never got released officially, but you can find the prototype online. I'm not expecting you to cover it, but as a fan, I figure you might enjoy it
i just started replaying this on my PS2... GET OUT OF MY MIND GamingWins
I'm following this channel for the last two days, and the videos that brought me here were the Arkham series ones. And this timeless jewel was not something i expected to find here. Amazing job.
Please, make a video about the first Watch Dogs. It would be amazing to see your analysis of the game...
I unfortunately missed out on this on PS2 and there is not a day that goes by that I regret not playing this game it looks so fun not to mention it lets you play as venom and the characters and everything just looks really cool
I got to play USM 10 years ago on my old friend's PC. The rhino boss fight was so stressful to my 5 yr old ass when I first played it back in 2014. I can't even reach the space key back then
YOOOOOOO THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE CLASSIC
it's also a better story then what bendis wrote in the comics for venoms return
This is the only Spider-Man game I had, so this brings back a boat load of memories.
If you liked this game, I'd recommend going back and reading the original Bendis run of Ultimate Spider-Man, which this game (or the first few minutes of it at least) is a direct adaptation of. I loved playing this game as a kid (even though my main Spider-Man childhood game was the Spider-Man 2 movie game and Neversoft's PS1 Spider-Man before that--showing my age here, lol) specifically because I had a big hardcover omnibus compilation of the USM comics up to and including the initial Venom storyline that I used to read religiously, and I loved how true to the Ultimate universe this game was, right down to the comic book aesthetic and the character models nailing the look of the comics' art and dialogue.
Also, this game doesn't really go into it at all (probably because it was targeted toward a slightly younger demographic), but the Eddie Brock in the Ultimate universe, while still a victim, wasn't actually innocent either. In fact, Eddie was actually kind of a sleazy piece of shit, unbeknownst to Peter (even though Eddie's college roommate and Gwen tried to warn him). It made the dynamic between naive, innocent Peter trying to reconnect with a childhood friend and Eddie the lazy college drop-out/sleazy SA-er waiting to happen pretty interesting to read. As an aside with regard to canon, I actually prefer what this game did with Carnage than what the comic ultimately (pun sort of intended) ended up with. If you know, you know.
Played this on GameCube and was always amazed by how long your nets stick to the wall even after leaving and coming back :D
Got such a joyful feeling seeing this on my feed
Bro I played the Game boy version of this, the soundtrack hits hard!
Speaking of older games, I challenge you to do a series for all the Final Fantasy games from 1 to 12 (skipping 11).
OMG!!!
To this day I go “hungerrrrrr!! Feeeeeeeed” like venom does in the game when I’m hungry
I spent HOURS eating people as Venom in this thing lol. So much fun.
I want a spider man game where web fluid needs to be collected as you are playing or you can run out mid swing would make a whole different experience
11:36 he has that tentacle attack that we cant do sadly
You could also try Spiderman Friend or Foe. It's a very interesting take on a spiderman game
I immediately had to click on this. This was one of my favorite games to play. I honestly couldn't pick my favorite part. But I would have to say is my least favorite parts are the repeat dialogue lines that are now seared into my brain. Like that one the rhino says in the video or Electro's "what are you doing? I thought this was a chase not a frickin walk in the park!" Or peter saying "stupid silver hottie threatened my family. I should let Eddie eat her. He'd be doing me a favor."
what’s great about this game is that it’s meant to be be a comic portrayal. a lot of people don’t get this and instead bash on this game but this one and spiderman 2 were the absolute pinnacle of the ps2
Bro you’re awesome 👏🏾
You should play Devil May Cry series one day
From DMC3-DMC1-DMC2-DMC4-DMC5 (The third one is the prequel but makes sense if you go for DMC1 first, the third one can be brutal)
You got to try spider-man shattered dimensions if your a fan of spider-verse
I lost the Rhino fight like 7 times.
One version I don't see anyone talk about anywhere is the DS version. I understand completely, since the DS only offered linear 2D levels instead of the huge open-world-esque map we get on the consoles. But something I enjoy more is the visuals. Again, its DS, so no animations. Instead they used dynamic comic panels and put a ton of work into the sound design. The Carnage transformation scene? Oof...
I remember playing this when I was a kid
I played this game so much i ended up messing up the disc somehow, on the OG xbox. God i miss it
I honestly think it will be cool if you revisit a classic game a month and we give you the suggestions so you get to see some of the stuff we talk about
Good video, but I'm more than a little sad that Peter's _brutal and epic_ beatdown of Venom after his final fight isn't featured.
You love to see such an unexpected but pleasant upload :) keep your energy and stay healthy m8
Finally this underrated Spider-man game get some recognition! Cannot wait for Web of Shadows and the others 😊
MY CHILDHOOD GAME!
This game will always be nostalgic and goated to me.
The ultimate universe is making a comeback
I really wish you would take a look at Spider-Man shattered dimensions.
It may not be open world but it is still very fun.
I actually still have my original copy from when this game released
Holy molly my childhood is back!
Had no idea this game was made by Treyarch as a kid. Makes sense why some of my favorite games of all time are Treyarch titles.
I raged so much at the electro venom chase
This video is a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one
0:40 its not a radioactive spider its genetically altered but you'd know that if you read the comics
The Rhino is not hard to face which I successfully did it for the first time at once.
Actually if you break all the screens before damaging electro, he never reaches full power blue.
missed opportunity to put the title as "Everything ULTIMATE about Ultimate Spider-Man!", this was a part of my childhood
oh man!! i spend DAYS playing this as a lil girl
I feel like the 60 fps patch you got for the game is making the spaz out cutscenes do that.
Greatly under appreciated game, thank you for this
My friend Gave me his original Xbox so I Got this Game and am so happy I Did
This game is SO underrated
I forgot just how good this game was, guess it's time for a replay
The Venom chasing electro level was so hard I couldn't Do it so I Gave up
