  • In this video, I show how to build a c-table. This Modern Sofa Table was a ton of fun to build! It is a perfect sofa side table and fits the mid-century modern style to a T. To build this c-shaped table, I used many different woodworking techniques. The slats are held in with dominos, but you could use dowels or attach a thin strip on the underside to support the top. I created router templates and used a flush-trim bit at the router table to create the shapes for the tapered legs and base.
For this c-table, I used walnut and maple hardwood, and the contrast from the tabletop to the base looks great. I designed it to sit right above the height of the arm on my couch. If you decide to make it, be sure to measure your couch height and adjust it to fit your setup. I made this one go right over my couch's arm, but your size probably differs. So keep that in mind.
I had a ton of fun building this side table! If you want plans for this woodworking project, check out the link below. And if you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them in the comments. Enjoy the build video!

Wow!! This is exactly what I’m looking for in a base. I am building a circular walnut end table and thought that a squared off c-table would look tacky given the circular top. This rounded over base may just be what I’m looking for!!!

I’m just scrolling through the archives. Looks like this was the first one with the saw stop! Im so close to pulling the trigger. The sawstop testimonials got me on their website of people who got injured on the table saw!

Yeah, I think you’re right! I still think it’s the best investment I have made in the shop. Not trying to twist your arm, but if you have the financial means to make it happen, you won’t regret it.

Awesome videos man. I don't do woodworking, but I've been getting a kick out of watching them lately. It is really relaxing. Oh, and nice touch with the LoFi music.
If I could give any feedback, it would be to consider giving a little more info on the tools you use and why they are helpful. I understand that I'm probably not your intended audience so feel free to ignore my feedback. Either way, consider me subbed. Keep making videos!

i love this project and the finished result. I loved it so much that I bought the plans. Unfortunately they are pretty lacking, no material calculation, no cut list, just difficult to decipher outlines of the table.
