An entire tree of firewood for our new kid - The 12 Days of Newness | Ep 5

- NEW KID FIREWOOD: Our second kid has landed, a beautiful little girl we’ve called Charlie. She also arrived in winter which meant my winter supplies of firewood were chewed through twice as fast as normal. So as winter rolled through spring into summer, and the last and worst wood got used up, I decided to take down a dead tree on our nature strip. It was the first time in a single session I’ve cut down, bucked up, split and stacked a tree in one hit.
This is Day 5 of 'The 12 Days of Newness'

G'day tubers. Thanks for following along all the newness. This is the second last new day (6 eps) before we take a few weeks off to gather our thoughts and get some sleep- and head to the YOUESAYE and CANADIA for a few weeks. Day 6 will be along Chrissy eve and that will wrap the first chunk of newness. Eps 7-12 are shot and on the way and will get you early in the new year. Mitch and I and Jodi need a few days off to eat cake and watch Cricket while packing. Thanks everyone.
have a good time!
Are you going to USA and Canada? If so have a nice white christmas.
You are in for some real snow bro. lol. You seen the forecasts?
Hope you had a good Birthday Beau.
Enjoying the Adventures of newness. Stay Rad Sir.
happy birthday, Beau! that fell was satisfying. hope the pear tree survives. 🤞🏼🤞🏼
Nice to see Helen's still talking to you after not getting that date from the lack of roundabout money!
Yes. A keeper that one when I don't bring home the bacon
@@BeauMiles Who needs bacon when you have bolts?!
Ya man all she needs is him that all you need for a date just a woman and and a man for a hot date doesn't matter how broke you are
@@BeauMiles bring home the beans
They're such a wholesome couple, I love it ! ♥
“I just didn't factor in this guy”, says Beau, referring to the pear tree that Helen specifically told him to factor in.
Nah he was talking about the arm of the tree that hit the pear tree
I was just thinking that this guy must be the meta when it comes to husband material and then I see a comment like this..
This is somehow the first I've known of their new kid, happy for both of you!
and new job apparently - was surprised to not see him triathlon to the university in melbourne
The kid was credited in an older video!
Well every man has a kid eventually they just need to find a good woman first then naturally a baby happens obviously
This is the Miles’s second child. His daughter - their first child - has been in numerous videos. This is the first I’ve seen if the new child. Evidently I missed an earlier video with Charlie.
Welcome to the madness, young Charlie Miles. You are in good hands, loving hands. And you have a quirky guy that can do lots of stuff that your mum calls hubby. Good on you Beau and Helen.
How lucky are we to have these frequent uploads from Beau! Loving it!
I could happily get used to the new schedule, I will miss it when it ends.
@@littleadventures6280 Me too!!
Not only is Beau a super cool and intriguing dude, but I don't think people realize how physically strong he is... Like he literally cut and chopped an entire tree, the guys a beast
In one day too !
he literally kayaked around the edge of Africa. he is nearly super human.
Must be a magical moment for Charlie when she is all grown up and watches this exact video. A glimpse from the past. Heck, maybe then she will understand why the pear tree in the garden has such a weird shape.
These twelve days of BeauMas videos are just excellent. Thanks mate.

"And you can vizualize thoose warm nights" Spoken like a true Swedish person. Whe have a saying that the firewood makes you plenty warm and plenty of times.
please keep us updated on that pear tree!
Yessss, we need a tree update video. All the trees planted on runs, the forest he planted, where's mom's olive tree?
This is the man we want at end of world, innovative hard working, humorous.
True lol
Wait, you have 2 kids? You sneaky bugger. I guess congratulations is in order hahaha. She's adorable

Beau, just an FYI ... the Eastern European tile stoves use a fraction of the wood and effort of their metal cousins! It's saved us a lot of hassle in the cold Hungarian winters on our homestead. Not sure if you can find them over there, but if you can, they're ace 😁 Happy Christmas! X
Yep, much better, and heats thru the whole night without fire.
we have one of those in Austria in our farmhouse as well
There are different types of metal stoves now that last much much longer. It has a catalyst combuster inside the stove that the wood you throw in heats up. And somehow, the catalyst reburns debri that would normally be exhausted through the chimney. So it makes zero smoke and you'll find very little ash. One large peice of fire wood can provide heat for 4-5 hours where I use to need 3 or 4 to last that long. Big game changer
@@WFshorts Great info, thanks. The smoke is actually quite an environmental issue.
Congratulations on the new baby! Maybe other folks knew, but it's the first time I've seen him mentioned. What a lovely family and wonderful life😍
may must be so happy to have a little sister 🫶🏻
That b-roll of you tucking Helen's hands into her pockets is one of the cutest things I've ever seen, and it fit your narration perfectly too lol
12 days of newness, more like 12 days happiness for me. It's always such a joy to watch your video's. Thanks Beau.

Helen's disappointment at how long the tree will last is priceless 😂😂😂😂 jesus christ, that post mortem karate chop from the big tree really did the little pear tree in ay?
Totally. Pear tree doing beautifully in the aftermath- thank heck
@@BeauMiles hows the olive tree you got your mum during your marathon bday goin?
Standing dead trees are really good for the forest ecology. Tons of creatures move into them that keep the forest healthy.
Dear Beau, I have found this video thoroughly entertaining and charming. I love the things you do and the attitude you have doing them, when people tell me to stop being dorky, gross and quirky (as someone who wears sunsmart shirts and hats and loves picking up random things I find) I think about you, a genuinly fair dinkum bloke who refuses the status quo in place of practicality, honesty and just being all round grouse human being.
Buddy, never let people stop you from being a Good Thing. Keep doing your quarky dorky thing, this world need more levity, and thank you for providing your helium.
"She's not cold cold." - nice contrastive focus reduplication right there mate. :D

Very impressed with how well you cut that tree to fall in the right spot. Good job Beau.
Too right!👍
Beau is good at many things, but he needs a chansaw class! The way he felled this tree gives you very little control, which is dangerous. The sloping back cut is definitely not a good method.
I find it therapeutic collecting firewood for my mum and mother in law a day out in the bush in one of the designated firewood collection areas away from it all and as a bonus it keeps me fit.
My mums planted nearly 5,000 trees on her block and most will be for the next generation her regret is she didn't plant more when they first bought the block so she could have enjoyed them closer to their full height.
As someone who got their chainsaw licence a couple of months ago, for me, this is a new type of video from you. Usually, I watch you as something to aspire to or to lament my inability to do the things you do due to location, experience, funds or imagination. But this is something I can do. And I do do it, a lot. Watching you go through the same steps I do to take a tree down, from justifying its felling to organising the felled wood, is really encouraging for me and makes me feel like I am a bit of an adventurer and can maybe try some of the things you do on a regular basis. So thanks, and great job with the tree.
Never heard of a chainsaw license, what is that and where are you?
@@kerberos623 I'm in the UK. It was a five day intensive course followed by an assessment and now I'm allowed to take down small to medium trees without supervision. I don't know what requirements they have in other places.
Didn't realise there was such thing in the UK. Is that only so you can charge people for your tree cutting service?
I'm a licensed chainsaw user for job and my study and I dont understand a few things. first of all why was the tree felt so high? And doesnt he know about personal safety equipment? helmet, gloves, work shoes and special pants. Also you shouldnt throw your chainsaw down to start it, always either on the ground, or in between legs. cross your arms so your dominant hand is pulling the cord.
Oi! You got a loicense for that chainsaw do ya?!
Just come across this video and it’s hilarious because I have a 2 year old son and he is obsessed with trees haha and it was actually his first word and he goes around pointing at anything that is wood and calls it a tree 😂
Hahaha I love your relationship with your wife
Are we all going to ignore the fact that Beau, in one afternoon cut down, chopped and stacked an entire tree?
And to follow it up just says "thats a good sweat, and I could use a cup of tea"
Absolutely incredible.
(Yes I do know his other accomplishments as well, It really does speak volumes of his character to be able to pull something like this off so casually)
The biggest timesaver in a job like that is probably confidence. I could cut down a tree, but I'd spend half the day staring at it and making sure it's going to fall in the right direction.
Second timesaver is making the great decision of splitting the firewood where it fell down, and stacking it in pretty much the same place. Being fit enough not to need a break every 30 minutes is probably the reason Beau can do it within a day while also making a video about it :P
Who's ignoring it
So we just watched a vid containing exactly what you described and we're ignoring it? Get off tiktok
@@tomalophicon are you always miserable?
I’m sorry for your friends and family.

Split & stacked wood on the roadside. You must have trustworthy neighbors!
Thank you Helen for letting us borrow your husband for these videos
I live this guy!! He's the Aussie Casey Neistat... Awesome bloke with a positive attitude!!
I hated gathering firewood with my dad when I was a kid. Now it is my favorite thing to do.
0:31 The best way to live life - making memories, telling stories!
On the fifth day of newness,
my true love gave to me,
Fuel for the winter
Centrifugal treasure,
My mug on a canvas,
A run, walk and swim,
And a donut, a trim and striped tee!
Beau man you've inspired me to get back into life and live it to the fullest and enjoy and appreciate every minute. I've had a rocky few years and despite pressing through I just came out the other side a different person, and not for the better. Getting back into exercise and physical recreation as well as a renewed thirst for knowledge done wonders for my spiritual and mental health...who would've thought it would be initially spurred by watching a random recommended video on RUclips. You, my fellow flame-bearded friend, are the best! Cheers from Florida!
I love Helen. She needs her own video! I imagine she has some pretty cool stories to tell also if she’s anything like you
"Every man looks at his wood-pile with a kind of affection. I love to have mine before my window, and the more chips the better to remind me of my pleasing work. They warmed me twice, once while I was splitting them, and again when they were on the fire, so that no fuel could give out more heat.” - Henry David Thoreau
I don't know why but it's a special feeling when you see something from your small part of the world (I live close to Huskvarna/Husqvarna) beeing in a far away small part of the world.
Your life is like a Shaun Tan book, Beau. The Lost Thing meets Tales from Outer Suburbia
I'm checking to see if this Scam dissapears
Well RUclips - If I have been compromised because of your incredible lack of due diligence. I'm going to expect compensation.
Wood is good value, it warms you five times.
Cutting up, chopping, stacking in the heap, bringing it in then finally burning it!

I love the fact that you paused and said thanks to the tree before you helped it begin it’s next purpose in life.
I shall plant 85 replacements for you tomorrow.
Thanks for the fascinating video.
Your new look after your trip to town makes you look uncanny like Glenn Maxwell
Hi Beau!
If I go out of my front door in suburbia, turn roughly left & keep driving for an hour, I end up in your neck of the woods. Our lives couldn't be further apart, but it's fantastic & somehow comforting to know that such an awesome being as yourself is nearby, just being awesome. Have a great Christmas & very best wishes to your wonderful family ❤️
Hey awesome vid mate, I’m a local chimney sweep if you ever need, always good to get done every couple of years for safety purposes 👍👍

Wood can warm you three times.
When you get warmed cutting it.
When you are warmed by the accomplishment and then when you're warmed by the burning of it
Geez I miss doing this each year growing up on king island as a kid. I bloody hated it back in the day, but now as a 40 year old stuck in suburban sydney, I really miss it badly

Really good idea lining them up like that. Thanks for the idea.
Beau is in such a focus zone, he forgot to remove the ear-plugs when he chopped wood :D That's bloody hardworking, mate!
Didn't even tell us she was pergo. Congrats. They way she looks at u bud, keep it that way.
I laughed pretty hard when he put her hands into her coat. 😂 Very good felling, by the way
Good freaking drop man! Holy cow, that could not have gone much better!
Thanks Beau, your spirit is infectious
That was a good stack of wood. nicely done.
Always one thing I forget to do....take the wedding ring off. Bugger gets me everytime. Great drop of the tree old boy 👍
The fact that the tree *perfectly* missed the fence is some bearded Aussie-Man witchcraft if I ever did see!
Cant say the same for the pear tree but witchcraft never strikes the same place twice.
What a father to have

My favorite part was seeing you put Helen’s hands in her puffer jacket pockets to keep them warm. So cute!
I just can't express how much I love this series. Amazing job Beau!
Renewable alternative, as you have the sun a lot in Australia: Put solar on the roof and heat (and cool) with a heat pump!
Imagine not liking these films. So glad I stumbled on them. Thanks Beau.
I was born and raised in a city. My wife and I moved to a remote-ish multi-acre 700 sq ft cabin recently. Our little piece of heaven on earth. I reveled in the hunt and processing of firewood all Spring thru Fall. It felt therapeutic to do good honest work. I reached five cords of beautifully stacked firewood this summer… multiple winters worth for our little cabin. My wife says I'm addicted, I say no such thing as too much seasoned firewood! I think she may be right.
Just a thought if you put the stump inside an old tyre you can split it without it moving about as much 👍🇮🇪
Pear trees are super fast growers. It should be fine.
It's one the things I loved doing as a kid. Chopping and stacking firewood. There's something cathartic about the physical exertion, the joy of completing a task and seeing how big of a log you could split in one swing.
I’d watch any Beau video. I didn’t really need to see someone split and stack wood-or almost any of the things in old videos, yet I’ve watch them all, multiple times.
That's a good lot of wood from 1 tree! Congratulations to the family on Charlie's entry into the family and the films.
Well dropped Beau. Don’t worry about the pear tree - they’re $4 a kilo at Aldi.😅
The drone shot of the tree being cut with the sawdust stripes made it look like a whale skeleton. Very poetic imagery.
God chopping wood is so satisfying, and your video is amazing, please keep em coming Beau!
Best of luck with Charlie. If she is anything like her father then the world will be a better place.
On the fifth day of Newness, Beau Miles gave to me...five cords of wood! A really cheap date, ginger mug a grinning, broom stick up the bum, and a new look with a pastry!

Nice cord of wood - absolutely LOVE chopping wood, really do love it. Tip - go round the outside of large circles of wood, releases the pressure, then cut into the radiating cracks.
