Not at all! I am often puzzled by the amount of hater comments on QPs. Honestly, if properly maintained (as with any car), they won't let you down! I thoroughly enjoy mine!
I can't believe the cam variators haven't destroyed the engine by now. I applaud your willingness to ignore them but everyone who ever talks about them says they must be addressed. Good luck.
There’s a chap on RUclips called SV Sailing Pipedream who’s got a cheap Granturismo . He’s done a temporary fix for the variatior issue by installing an oil charge reservoir that primes the engine before start up .
@ the oil thickness is not the issue . The oil drains down from the variatiors when sat . The proper fix is to modify the oil feed with a ball valve to stop the oil from draining out the cam housing . The work around is to fit an oil charge system that primes before starting. Thinner oil will just drain away quicker
I 'd been looking for a 986 Boxster S for a long time now but living in the middle of nowhere in Scotland anything of decent value was always a million miles away or sold way too fast . Anyway I recently picked up a 2004 S on 92k that had been stood for around 7 months and had only done 200 miles since the last mot 18 months ago . The car was around a mile from me when I saw the advert on Face book just as it came up for sale . It has masses of paper work for parts replaced, suspension all round etc..etc.., 2 keys , a decent car cover and just needs a couple of tyres and a bit of paint on a door where a buffer has gone through the paint at one time .Oh and no oil leaks or noises on start up . Its Seal Grey with a Boxster Red interior and I love it .... The price ? well it was delivered the next morning to me and I handed over my £1500 ! I 've had some bargains in my time but this car's up their for sure . I've nearly done going through it and have found nothing needed apart from a couple of tyres . It seems the unlucky seller had parted with it due to not being able to insure it anymore . I must say I "almost " feel guilty about what I paid for it . I watched your videos on your Boxster S at the time and have watched again since and they were very good and informative to say the least. Thanks Joel...
Get everything under the passenger seat sealed up - water ingress will cause you potentially expensive issues - look at @latebrake's Boxter. That said, a nice purchase.
I love the Maserati. I would never be brave enough to buy one, though. So thank you for letting me enjoy the experience through your videos. I have owned a V8 version of your Cayenne, many years ago, and it was my daily, and I loved it too.
Another great video and series. I have owned a 4200 coupe for 5 years and love it. I always get compliments from all sorts of people, from white van man, teenage lads, mature ladies and older gentlemen, they all love it. The Ferrari M138 engine is a great lump and capable of serious mileages. These Maseratis are seriously undervalued and provided they are maintained regularly, are very reliable. Glad you're enjoying yours, well done!
Glad to hear you are loving the Quattroporte experience. I had always kept an eye on the 4200/GranSport market and bit the bullet around 18 months ago with a 2006 Maserati GranSport. Absolutely love the car! Has been very reliable and the music it produces is simply amazing. I honestly can’t believe how cheap these cars are for what you get. Mine has the CambioCorsa transmission rather than the ZF and it has been fantastic. It has that real mechanical feel when changing gears as you can feel the clutch engage and disengage. Overall, couldn’t be happier with the GranSport. Absolutely love it!
I did this in 2021 and bought a TVR Chimaera that was a CAT N purchased sight unseen, never even driven one. Now totally repaired, usable classic and hasn't put a wheel wrong since I purchased it. It has become a lifetime project car as it was modded (stage 3 engine topend and mappable ECU) when I got it and I will continue on my quest to improve it incrementally.
I'm loving your videos with your Maserati. Ever since I was a youngster and saw one in Monaco, I've secretly loved them. I can't justify buying one now - I can barely justify having my Jaguar TBH. Your locations bring back memories: my wife and I moved from the Camberley/Guildford area to SW England a little over two years ago. I can understand the attitude of some regarding your Maserati in your locale even though I don't agree with it. Most people around here would have no clue what a Maserati is!
A late friend had a 2005 Quattroporte. His children have now offered the car for sale, and I'm trying to screw up the courage to bid for it. The car's done barely 35000 miles, but it hasn't been driven for a while. Reliability has been a fear, but I've run an E55k for 14 years doing much of the maintenance work myself. Your experience with yours is also serving as encouragement. I'm not sure adding it to the AMG is entirely wise, but I do have a Hyundai Tucson to use as a daily. I guess I'll have to mull it over a tad longer. Meanwhile, thanks for the lovely content. Been subscribed from your Z4 days. Particularly enjoyed your recent Nurburgring trip...
Forget the Karen who had a go at you. Her reaction says more about her than you. The car I'd love but know would kill me financially is a GT Continental Coupe. Early one.
@@itsjoel I remember Sam (Seen Through Glass) inquired about the logic of buying a 'cheap' Continental at a supercar garage....they all just burst out laughing and then grimaced to him and begged him ".. please don't even think about it".
Joel, your videos keep on getting better and better. I love that you have the courage to do what most of us only dream of. Your current two car garage is just a deal of the century. 1st gen cayennes are still superb and capable SUV's and this quattroporte just isn't a car at all, rather a piece of art. If it does let you down, you can always keep the car to use it as a decoration as it is gorgeous from any chosen angle!
Definitely a ticking time bomb. As Maserati (4200 Manual) owner myself all I can say is you've been lucky. Anyone can buy cars and run them for a few months. Report back when you've owned it 12 months and put it through an MOT. I just got stiffed with a totally unforeseen £4750 bill to repair the entire clutch system (on a car that cost £8k). I'm not up on Quattroporte but I believe rusty subframes are also an issue as they are with the 4200.
@wrapdump was under mine today. Front has been replaced and rear just showing a few areas of surface rust. I try not to use it in the wet if can be avoided although it is parked outside all year
These cars are incredibly under valued because of that you get people buying them cheap thinking they'll be cheap to run. They are sports cars and all sports cars can be expensive to run repairs clutch are a consumable part that requires alot of work to replace. This is the same with Ferrari, astons, lambo 's and many other high end sports cars of this era. It's not a ticking time bomb if you understand exotic cars. In fact my Maserati has been the most reliable one.
@@sycostylie1 I was referencing more the creator that buys one cheap runs it a few months, creates enough content and sells it before they have to face any significant running costs. It gives a false illusion about genuine long term ownership and running costs. My clutch was unforeseen as it supposedly had a new one not so long before my purchase. Lesson learned on my part.
@@russellbird7543 Was the clutch job because it was worn, or because of a mechanical failure? I bought mine with a part-worn clutch at 42k miles. It's at £92k miles now, same clutch giving no signs of slipping yet.
Beautiful car. I would not let the jealous lady in the petrol station ruin my enjoyment of a Masserrati. Joel you are a decent guy , stuff the begrudgers My cars are Jag XF , Jag Stype, RR Vogue, and Merc SLK. They may not be supercars but I like them . Life is for living Enjoy every day.
I really enjoy the content you put out, I like the cars you’ve featured the Range Rovers the Jag V8, Audi TT, Volvo xc90 the Cayenne and now the Maserati, I often think brave lad but good on ya for doing it. Keep the content going mate. Ignore the selfish muppets out there they’re only jealous all the best
Oh, great question, thanks for asking 😅 I'm currently saving for a 2019 Mercedes E200 full option diesel import from Germany with about 380.000km's/237k miles for 6.7k euro's, which is insane! It's newer than my main car, a C220 from 2015 and my 'project'/fun car a 2013 E200 CDI station wagon (which I got for 4k). (The reason I'm going for the newer one) LOVE how handy the huge space in the back is. So if it's not too bad (unlike the 4k car, which turned up to have a cam chain issue, which will cost 1k to fix) I might make that my main and sell my C220. I want to start learning how to take cars apart and put them back together with the 2013 E class. Worse case, it's just 4k, but I'd count is an education cost.
Thank you so much! I have a Cayenne S like yours and on Saturday I am going to buy a Maserati Quattroporte 4.2 Duoselect to use it little. Since I am in Switzerland I wrote to Quicksilver and they confirmed your exhaust with 3 weeks production and 125 Gbp shipping! So again Thanks for convincing me to take the Quattroporte!
@itsjoel yes I will let you know, on Saturday with the confirmation of the purchase of the Maserati, I will place the order for the exhausts. For now I have taken a risk and taken the 20 inch Neptune wheels of the Granturismo
My English husband finally brought his dream car …a Maserati MC sport line GTS and he can’t wipe the grin from his face. I am so thrilled for him. Great video btw. From Australia
What your dream car changes I think dependent on what stage of your life you’re in. When I was a young lad in the 70’s it was a TR6. Much later in life it was a TVR and I did buy a Chimaera. Last week I bought a car I have coveted for a while - a 2008 Jaguar XK 150 4.2 . It’s a truly beautiful design and drives wonderfully- a “ gentleman’s express) which suits me now I am in my 60’s. Road tax is a rip off but insurance is reasonable ( it’s 3rd car in the household and is on a classic car policy with limited mileage) and on my trip home when collecting it ( about 80 miles mostly on motorway) it did 32 mpg. About 15mpg around town though. Really enjoy your videos Joel 👍.
For the sticky buttons, use petrol on a rag and give them a good wipe down,it works great, better than isopropyl rubbing alcohol 😊,keep up the great work mate👍
Like your Maserati story, hope to see more! Intersting to see how the car holds up and fares in the future. I drive a cheap, non special, Jaguar, which is a rare brand where I live, with loads of miles on it (my dream car). It is amusing what people come up with sometimes, just because of a badge. 😂
The cams get oil through a narrow valve opening in the cam cover. I once saw a mod to get this valved opening wider pushing more oil to the cams at the start.
I liked when you said that life is too short. I completely agree with you! I bought this year a Volkswagen Touareg 4.2 V8, because here in Brazil Maseratis are VERY expensive. My dream is a Maserati 4.2 V8, but now having a VW 4.2 V8 is already a dream becoming true! I did spend a little bit of money to fix some leaks, but man, what an amazing car and what an exciting sound it makes! Folks, if you want to live your dreams, do it now!
I took the plunge on my dream car a few months back jaguar xj351 v6 i love it, had to spend a bit but i knew that before i parted with the hard earned, diesel it may be but it flies and 40mpg all the time more on a run 45 plus. Unbelievable value for money and loaded with goodies, ensured the belts had been done and its fsh, hopefully she keeps going like it has been.
Maserati 4200 Coupe GT 6 Speed manual owner here since 2022 and I couldn't agree more with your perspective on Maserati ownership. There's so many naysayers and people who only want to believe in tired, old cliches about Italian cars when the reality is anything but. My 4200 has been rock solid since day one and that included a 1,900 mile roundtrip to Tail of the Dragon and back. I semi daily it and it's never once thrown a check engine light or given me any issues that have stopped me from driving it. Build quality is excellent, fit and finish are excellent and to your point, it imparts something very special every time you sit inside and you see and smell the hand sewn leather. Is there a better sub $30K, Ferrari engine, manual transmission car bargain that exists? I don't think so.
Glad to see you enjoying the Maserati. I bought a Granturismo MC Stradale a few years ago. Still have it - cannot see me replacing it any time soon. Where would you go to find a more sonorous experience. It may not be the best car in the world - but it is an event every time you take it out.
My personal risky dream car would be a Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph or Bentley Arnage - both from the early 2000s. Daily driving one of those would be very interesting!
I've had Jaguar saloons, both XJ6 and XJ8, but I keep looking at the XK8. I almost bought one a couple of years ago and I have been looking once more, despite not needing a V8 and already owning 3 cars. It's just, well as you said " lifes too short not to".
Ignore the ignorant jealous petrol station lady. I sometimes get similar with my gorgeous 2011 L322 Autobiography. It’s worth £10k but people assume it’s still worth the £96k initial price tag. Really winds me up that buying something you really want has such an impact on their lives!! 🤷🏼♂️
Never understood why people buy blinged up farm trucks and claim they are cars. Unless you own a farm or regularly tow heavy trailers you are just wasting space, especially in Chelsea. The mazzer doesn’t pretend to be anything other than a toy.
At long last I have subscribed Joel and I must apologise for the delay. Always liked your content. Just your reminder and ask for a comment at the end of your video there made me. If I was going to motor it up "It's Joel" style, my choice would have to be a Audi Q7 V12 TDI. What more of a disaster could you bring into your motoring life? 😂 Think of the parts prices every time, nevermind having to work on that beast!
I wish I'd had that 'you only live once' ethos and bought an E39 M5 when they were attainable. I so nearly did, I was offered a carbon black / caramel heritage interior with full BMW history and 60k miles, for £6995.
I really miss my Maserati 4200, it was the most reliable car I have ever owned. 6 Speed Manual and the most mpg I got was 22 MPG. Only had to sell due to Job issues thanks to Covid 😒
Great vid. Dream car? Wish I knew. Got a 360 Modena, E92 M3 and my wifes 987 Boxster. All are amazing. Will keep the 360 & M3, may switch the Boxster for a Cali T, or a newer Boxster 718 GTS. Real dream? Prob a RHD (lol) Enzo. Might be a few quid short.!
Another excellent video Joel! As for dream cars, mine are an absolute mish-mash 😆 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, Volkswagen Phaeton W12, another 955 Cayenne Turbo with a beige interior, definitely a Volvo S80 V8, as I truly miss that car, Chevrolet SSR (don’t ask why, I love how weird they are) MG ZT V8, Bentley Continental Flying Spur, just to name a few from my weird and wonderful list 😆
Got a non-cat 34k miles, extensive history etc for £5.2k a few months back. Had to change a steering boot, oozing thermostat and tpms sensor is all that reared up when i had it extensively inspected.
Glad you are loving the the Maserati, they are very special indeed, sorry to hear about the encounter at the petrol station with Karen, hopefully this is a rare thing. I certainly have never experienced anything like that with my Granturismo, I get smiles, waves and general happyness every where I go. people are scared of the old stories of Italian cars being unreliable and expensive, agree the parts costs for a Maserati are somewhat eye watering, but the engines are generally prety reliable. They do like to be used, I think ones with low mileage and laid up tend to cause more issues then those that are driven. I've not had to spend a penny on mine bar the normal service items in over 2.5 years, and like you I took a trip over to europe for 10 days. Life is short, live it while you can.
I agree. I think regular usage and temperature cycles does these engines well. My QP seems to almost get healthier the more and more I drive it. She had been sat for a number of years beforehand!
Im choosing a car at the moment, narrowed down to a Jag XJ Autobiography 5.0 V8. Jag F Type R or an Aston Martin Rapide....... I dont know which i dare buy yet!
I was seriously flirting with the cheap QP idea myself this year. I wanted a cheap continental cruiser that had classy curb appeal. I think I'd still like one and your story is more likley to make me swallow that brave pill. If things go the way I hope with work, I might be in trouble sooner than I thought, fingers crossed🤞
Aha good vid! I’ve wanted a QP for my whole life before getting into an R35 GTR or a post 05 gallardo. The QP and the gallardo though I am most terrified to experience though, due to maintenance. I have an 09 cls63 amg Mercedes atm and it’s been about 12k CAD to maintain it 2.3 years. Mainly due to the neglected condition while buying but I dread maintaining the QP would be worst, which is why I haven’t gone for one.. ahaaa
E46 M3 would be the one for me. Just doesn't make sense for me tho as I do alot of mileage and the repair bills would be astronomical 😢😂. Great video, love to hear your getting hate in your Masterati - that means your now a true Masterati owner 😅
From my extensive experience they are mechanically very strong. You should however budget about £1000 a year for an average of one ECM (Electronic Control Module) to fail per year. Could be for the wipers, windows, interior lights, wing mirrors, etc.
Lovely car joel but you really need to get them cam variators done and until then ease off with the lead foot or its a financial headache on the way stunning looking motor 👍
Ran one for 11 years did 70k in her and can agree that they are reliable, until they get older on the electrics and rubber items which all seem to have specific faults (window regulators break, the tpms ecu gives up, certain rubber hoses in the cooling system can burst, and as you mentioned parking sensors are intermittent) Sold to we buy any car for much less than you paid a month ago as just didn’t have space for two cars
You talked about a bigger budget would buy a nicer spec QP. I honestly think that your QP with the combination of color, wheels and interior is beautiful. I mean, the newer spec is more modern, but this one has more elegance.
That's an awful lot of car for not alot of money... Have really enjoyed this series of videos. Best of luck from Dublin..where the road tax alone on that car would be over 2K per year !!
My current dream car (and has been for a while) is the 5.0 V8 lexus ISF as I had a IS220d and miss it dearly but want the big daddy V8 version of it now! It should be reliable being japanese but a good example now costs 20-25K in the UK and fuel insurance tax costs dont make it an easy purchase to maintain
You need to try a later 4.7 Sport GT S - the box in manual is manual so you can hit the limiter and it won't downshift (except into 1st). Snappier, sharper and a tad more power....
Actually the previous gearbox (duo select) is a better ‘manual’ drive in my opinion because all the gears can be held without ‘kicking down’…. But otherwise, great video and I will always be keeping one of these cars in my shed 😊
An interesting and enjoyable video 😊 I had a Maserati Granturismo 4.7 S for 2 years and 12000 miles, other than fuel and insurance it cost me 2 new rear tyres, it was completely reliable and I loved it. Mine had the MC shift gearbox which was great fun on country roads but a bit of a pain in town. The only properly bad experience was when a guy started shouting abuse at me when I parked in a child space and I had my 1 year old in a child seat in the back. 😠
Same. Had my GranTurismo 4.7 S for 3 years. Nothing went wrong and never broke down. Standard servicing. Completely bullet proof. Happily sold it to some chap who took it abroad. He’s still running it years later. Ok it was more expensive to service than our Porsche 911 but I knew that before we bought it. Lost £10k on it over 3 years and sold it with 18k miles on the clock after a few European drives
@@itsjoel Unfortunately he drove off before I could get him to look in the back but I am sure he would have been surprised, there is much more room in the back of a GronTurismo than you would expect from looking at the outside.
Joel, I have to ask this again. Your car has had noisy cam variators since day one when you bought it, and over the last two months of driving the car frequently, you have made no effort to repair them. On cold start, has the variator noise gotten worse, or stayed the same? Does it occur with warm start ups? Do you wait until the oil pressure rises and silences the variators before you start driving? If/when they cause massive cam failure and destroy the engine, will you just sell it in that condition? Not trying to be negative, it is just that you seem to be the bravest and luckiest man I've ever heard of. John I.
Still lovely and a lot of car for the money. Try some 'Dunlop ultimate lemon oil' (for guitar fretboards) on those sticky plastics. My 'really shouldn't do that' car would actually be another Masa but the gorgeous boomerang rear light clustered 3200.
Thinking of the forecourt incident, I can't understand why people feel the need to always be confrontational mate. Whatever happened to a bit of give and take? Maybe it's just me being old and stupid, but I'd sooner give someone the benefit of the doubt, and just wait a couple of minutes. That said, I'm not TOO old, to appreciate a nice car that makes a brilliant sound. Enjoy it while it lets you. (Y)
Joel, if it makes you feel any better, I just bought a lotus and the engine blew itself up on the drive home. It needs a new engine at the cost of around £5,000. All in all, I still love the car.
Lovely car I used to own a 4200GT Grand sport loved that exotic v8 burble it had tan leather interior over gregorio grey or something like that 😅, I currently have a mix bag of cars , Saab , bmw , CLS63, 997 911, & supercharged Xjr
N54 BMW 335i for me..... I've always loved how cheap they are but I know they have so many common issues that it scares me! I can't believe you can get them from 3-4k now
Don’t worry Joel about other people. She wanted to have a pop at you because she realised you had a lady in the car and she wanted to have you. With regards to an attainable car, what about a M3 E46 for you Joel
Try changing the brake light bulbs as a pair I have same issue with my transit custom on start up mine said headlight malfunction I found out ther wer a very cheap budget bulb once I changed to a decent name the warning went
Cars like this in the UK obviously are incredibly cheap. Out here in Oz, the cheapest Quattroporte would cost you $22K for a 2004 model. A 2006 model you’re looking at around $33-46k +. In short you could not get one for less than $20k, regardless of condition, unless perhaps it was totally knackered.
So what happened with cam variator did you fixed it? I heard that Ceratec from Liqui Molly it's an aditiv that reduces friction between pistons apparently, I use it 2x on my Citroën c5 2.0 hdi , it does run smoothly
Just fix the issue yourself. I also did it myself. It is some work, but it is doable! You can ruin the engine by not fixing it! You have much bigger chance to get broken chain tensioners. If that happens, your engine timing will be off which can lead to a broken engine.
You could lease a car for say 250 per month which will be nothing special or buy this, 5k spread over 24 months £208 per month after that you have paid it off have it 3 years and the monthly works out at £138 per month, what can you get for that kind of money, even if it does pop the has has to be work £3000 in parts alone, my opinion is drive it enjoy it and see how you come out of it when you get bored, roll on 100k mate
My dreamcar also is Maserati Quattroporte. I own 3 cars, alfa Romeo gtv 2.0 1995, alfa Romeo 159 1.9 jtd 2005 and a Porsche cayenne 4.5 v8 NA tipronic 2006. All 3 were bargains the Porsche cost me with repairs 2000 euro, this year, the 159 also 2000 euro back in 2018 and the GTV cost me only 500 euro back in 2020. If you do your homework, use your brain got a little courage you can do it. I'm sure I'll buy the right Quattroporte very soon.
Car that I’m eyeing up at the minute which is a possible money trap is a 4200GT but hey you only live once so just waiting for the right one to come up
I really fancy an L322 even just to borrow for a week, it's probably a lame choice but ive driven Ferraris and Aston Martin DB 9 and Porsche 944 , 911 gtrs and boxsters. I like the commanding road position of RR'S
Hey joel. First thanks for the videos. I really like them. I saw a few times the vids.abot the quatroporte and like the car a lot. There is just one question ❓ I saw another video from you from 2 years ago abot rhe gran turismo were you said you wouldn't buy one. My question where is so much difference between both? They have same engine and other parts.
I expected more from the granturismo as it is a more compromised sports car. It didn’t drive as well or feel as exciting as I had expected. Whereas, with the QP as it’s a much cheaper saloon car it exceeded my lower expectations
Love seeing the confirmation I made a great decision a few months ago to buy mine, privately, which Ben at Dadcars enjoyed in his ‘money pit?’ video of it 😂… (spoiler… it wasn’t what he thought it might be) I’ve done over 5k miles in mine now, it’s growing on me!
I think you might find this surprising!
Not at all! I am often puzzled by the amount of hater comments on QPs. Honestly, if properly maintained (as with any car), they won't let you down! I thoroughly enjoy mine!
glad you now know how to pronounce Quattroporte LOL
Joel it's time to shine the camera on the cayenne dude. Glad you haven't sold it now you have your Italian stallion 😂
Jaguar XK or indeed a Maserati Q are the ones I'm thinking of next 😀

There’s a chap on RUclips called SV Sailing Pipedream who’s got a cheap Granturismo . He’s done a temporary fix for the variatior issue by installing an oil charge reservoir that primes the engine before start up .
Or a remote control relay on the fuel pump fuse , you can spin the engine , build oil pressure, start it with healthy oil everywhere you need it
Just use 0W/40 oil. Thin enough for cold starts

Should go for it! Thanks so much for watching
Forget the Karen who had a go at you. Her reaction says more about her than you. The car I'd love but know would kill me financially is a GT Continental Coupe. Early one.
Ooooo I’d love a continental GT! Maybe even a flying spur!
Totally agree, it’s great to just look at!
Correct the subframes are poorly protected from the factory. I had to have new metal welded into mine. Best to get them protected.
Joel you are a decent guy , stuff the begrudgers
My cars are Jag XF , Jag Stype, RR Vogue, and Merc SLK. They may not be supercars but I like them . Life is for living Enjoy every day.
Exactly, great collection of cars
I really enjoy the content you put out, I like the cars you’ve featured the Range Rovers the Jag V8, Audi TT, Volvo xc90 the Cayenne and now the Maserati, I often think brave lad but good on ya for doing it. Keep the content going mate. Ignore the selfish muppets out there they’re only jealous all the best
Thanks mate
That’s awesome! So exciting. Let me know how you get on with the car and exhaust!
@itsjoel yes I will let you know, on Saturday with the confirmation of the purchase of the Maserati, I will place the order for the exhausts. For now I have taken a risk and taken the 20 inch Neptune wheels of the Granturismo
I confirm the Maserati has already arrived, I replaced the wheels with those of the Granturismo. I ordered the Quicksilver exhaust today. Great!
My English husband finally brought his dream car …a Maserati MC sport line GTS and he can’t wipe the grin from his face. I am so thrilled for him. Great video btw. From Australia
That’s great! Thanks for watching
So glad you’re enjoying it mate
I’m so tempted to buy a cheap 80s roller or Bentley! Have always loved the Arnage too.
I've had Jaguar saloons, both XJ6 and XJ8, but I keep looking at the XK8. I almost bought one a couple of years ago and I have been looking once more, despite not needing a V8 and already owning 3 cars. It's just, well as you said " lifes too short not to".
The intro is so good 🤭 looking forward to this one...!!
Well done Joel, loved the video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Sounds awesome.
Porsche Panamera?
Your presentation skills have massively improved. 👍🏻
I love the panamera. Really early ones with high mileage are looking like a bargain now
I’ve got a 56 plate quattroporte , 70k , launch spec for £1800, no cam issues , so far so good
£1800???
@ yes
Loving this and I'd like more of the cayenne please
Ignore the ignorant jealous petrol station lady. I sometimes get similar with my gorgeous 2011 L322 Autobiography. It’s worth £10k but people assume it’s still worth the £96k initial price tag. Really winds me up that buying something you really want has such an impact on their lives!! 🤷🏼♂️
Agree!
Never understood why people buy blinged up farm trucks and claim they are cars. Unless you own a farm or regularly tow heavy trailers you are just wasting space, especially in Chelsea.
The mazzer doesn’t pretend to be anything other than a toy.
@@robgraham9234 you ok hun?
At long last I have subscribed Joel and I must apologise for the delay. Always liked your content. Just your reminder and ask for a comment at the end of your video there made me. If I was going to motor it up "It's Joel" style, my choice would have to be a Audi Q7 V12 TDI. What more of a disaster could you bring into your motoring life? 😂 Think of the parts prices every time, nevermind having to work on that beast!
Thank you. A Q7 W12 would be insane, although they’re like flying pigs!
New subscriber here, fantastic and varied content!! Good job, well done.
I’m not into sports cars but I have to say that Maserati do a really good exhaust note..
I wish I'd had that 'you only live once' ethos and bought an E39 M5 when they were attainable. I so nearly did, I was offered a carbon black / caramel heritage interior with full BMW history and 60k miles, for £6995.
Wow!
4.7 lt. Motor tax on that in Ireland is 2000 a year.
I really miss my Maserati 4200, it was the most reliable car I have ever owned. 6 Speed Manual and the most mpg I got was 22 MPG. Only had to sell due to Job issues thanks to Covid 😒
Sorry you had to sell it! I hear from so many people about these Maseratis reliability being strong
Audi B7 RS4, cat N, had to do a bit of work to it but don't regret buying one bit!
Great vid.
Fantastic collection, the Enzo is my all time dream too.
We are the same person
@@NathanMannin yes love the 612 Scaglietti, smiles per mile off the clock 😄
@@itsjoel Love that! Well I’m glad I can live some of my dream purchases through your channel, hopefully one of my next ones will be one of yours too!
Maserat 4200, Maserati GT, Bentley Continental GT W12, Maserati Ghibli. And I've loved every one of them :D
Ran one for 11 years did 70k in her and can agree that they are reliable, until they get older on the electrics and rubber items which all seem to have specific faults (window regulators break, the tpms ecu gives up, certain rubber hoses in the cooling system can burst, and as you mentioned parking sensors are intermittent)
Sold to we buy any car for much less than you paid a month ago as just didn’t have space for two cars
You talked about a bigger budget would buy a nicer spec QP. I honestly think that your QP with the combination of color, wheels and interior is beautiful. I mean, the newer spec is more modern, but this one has more elegance.
Beautiful Maserati 🇮🇹👌🏻 glad I found your channel just subscribed
I got one of these. Tbf it’s been reliable, just niggly electrical issues. I’ve owned mine for nearly 8 years now
That's an awful lot of car for not alot of money...
Soon smashing 100k subs🎉
Top tip the fuel icon on your dash has an arrow that points to the side your filler flap is on
@@danieljordannicol9937 on the Maserati it’s on the wrong side. Italian logic…
You need to try a later 4.7 Sport GT S - the box in manual is manual so you can hit the limiter and it won't downshift (except into 1st). Snappier, sharper and a tad more power....
I’ll have to try one
Actually the previous gearbox (duo select) is a better ‘manual’ drive in my opinion because all the gears can be held without ‘kicking down’…. But otherwise, great video and I will always be keeping one of these cars in my shed 😊
Yes I agree, duo select much better for an engaging manual drive, but ZF much better in auto.
An interesting and enjoyable video 😊
I had a Maserati Granturismo 4.7 S for 2 years and 12000 miles, other than fuel and insurance it cost me 2 new rear tyres, it was completely reliable and I loved it.
Wonder what the look on his face was when he saw your child! People jump to conclusions way too quickly!
@@itsjoel Unfortunately he drove off before I could get him to look in the back but I am sure he would have been surprised, there is much more room in the back of a GronTurismo than you would expect from looking at the outside.
I love the way the engine and exhaust pipes try to push themselves out the back of the car under hard acceleration. 😂
I would enjoy owning Cayenne but havent been brave enough to buy one (in Spain).. also been looking at Alfa Brera's
Warranty company will never pay out. Dealer was 100% a rubber dinghy rapids bro
Such a good film…
Joel, if it makes you feel any better, I just bought a lotus and the engine blew itself up on the drive home. It needs a new engine at the cost of around £5,000. All in all, I still love the car.
Ahh man, that doesn’t make me feel better, that sucks! Hope you can get it sorted
Don’t take any notice today, silly people don’t know what they’re talking about, keep up the good work on your channel
Much appreciated
Have you tried acetone on the buttons and dash surrounds? If not then it might be worth a go (but test it first on a little hidden section).
I would love a BMW 850i such a classic looking car
Try changing the brake light bulbs as a pair I have same issue with my transit custom on start up mine said headlight malfunction I found out ther wer a very cheap budget bulb once I changed to a decent name the warning went
Old people are getting so bitter these days. They are just jealous they don't drive one Joel 😂 it sounds impeccable now ❤
I love these maseratis I've had 3 now everyone I've had has got the sticky buttons issue if you watch mike brewer doing one up he solves the problem
Traders should make their warranty paper the same size as a sheet of bog roll. It's about all it's good for.
My dream car is a BMW i8. Loving the Quattroporte though!
Agreed..forget it…I can’t drive anywhere in my Porsche without people ‘interacting’ with me🙄. I’d love a Ghibli actually.
So what happened with cam variator did you fixed it? I heard that Ceratec from Liqui Molly it's an aditiv that reduces friction between pistons apparently, I use it 2x on my Citroën c5 2.0 hdi , it does run smoothly
I've never been the biggest fan of the styling but it's a lot of car for the money
Just fix the issue yourself. I also did it myself. It is some work, but it is doable! You can ruin the engine by not fixing it! You have much bigger chance to get broken chain tensioners. If that happens, your engine timing will be off which can lead to a broken engine.
The GTS model rectifies the gearbox flaws
Joel, are you filling it with Vpower.. a little burn from that exhaust tip
Those are some nice tyres Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is the absolute best!! Got some on my Golf R Wagon

I really fancy an L322 even just to borrow for a week, it's probably a lame choice but ive driven Ferraris and Aston Martin DB 9 and Porsche 944 , 911 gtrs and boxsters. I like the commanding road position of RR'S
Something really special about the L322s. I’ll get another one soon!
Hey joel.
First thanks for the videos. I really like them.
I saw a few times the vids.abot the quatroporte and like the car a lot.
There is just one question ❓
I saw another video from you from 2 years ago abot rhe gran turismo were you said you wouldn't buy one.
Thanks for your response. It's about because I'm looking about a granturismo. I think from design one of the most beautiful cars ab so timeless.
Fantastic!
