Ah, when Clapton is on fire I don't think many guitarists can compete. But it isn't about competing, it's about soul, feel and ultimately entertainment. Clapton has a rare gift that even Hendrix can't beat. That's only my opinion.
ha più musicalità di tutti è questo che gli dà il primato su tutti la sua mesicalita musicalità negli assolo è questo che l ha fatto durare nel tempo ai vertici
man do i love Jimi, but as no disrespect, he cant match claptons touch on the strings.I get how many boundaries he pushed, he gets credit for it..But what did cream do? Umm ok..Anyways, in the end, how you play and how consistent you are, mean about the most, when you solo. And this guys has licks he still hasnt hit yet!!! Hes never ending
Clapton in the 90s to early 2000s is too underrated... I’d put that up there with any of his earlier stuff. It’s like he needed to get a bit older to combine the fire from his youth with the decades of learning licks and styles.
The finest rendition of this song ever recorded. Andy has the perfect voice and range for this song. As for EC, he does what he normally does, moves you to tears.
This song has more feeling and soul in one note than entire songs that are done today do. Great matchup with Eric and Andy, just absolutely beautiful sweet music, no bullshit gimmicks or props, just great music.....
Gary Clark That true, the blues is easy to play, but hard to feel (to play out the feelings on any instrument), but E.C can do that, better than any one. Can't wait to 8.July to see you,Winwood,Santana and Clapton..
So you probably can t compute the amount of soul in Nina Simone version. Their is no need for a big guitar solo to wake you up after 4 bland minutes of sleepy blues with forced vocals..
Andy is a Welsh Treasure and Mr. Clapton isn't to shabby himself. It is wonderful to see two Artists share the stage the way they did with total respect for each other. The listeners and the viewers are the winners. You got to love it!
this is one of the best solo's by clapton, ever!!! ever!! and andy has one of the best rock voices ever, ever! thank you for this clip. this is what music is all about. pure, raw emotion.
Thats about as good as it gets for more. Top three solo ever, that was just tremendous. I felt like every emotion on every string he hit. Unbelievable. Its like i knew exactly just how he felt
So much for the younger generation of fools that say CLAPTON's leads are boring. They seem to think shredding has to be included. While I can respect those that have a shredding ability, to me it's NOT music. It's a jumbled mess of noise with no melody. Fitting in a melodic lead solo into a great song takes much more talent, and if he wanted, CLAPTON could do justice to any song with any musician. Yet he’s perfectly content to take the back seat and let others step out and shine.
When you watch Eric Clapton, you get a complete package. He is surrounded by a coterie of superb musicians who he could learn from and from whom they could also learn. It is musical symbiosis at its forefront. Andy Fairweather Low is an understated musician but if one would keenly observe, his rhythm playing exudes nifty nuances. His vocals are great on this one and right on the dime. And Eric? what one of his TRANCE-LIKE EXCURSIONS.
I can't believe people waste the time to argue over who's the best guitar player.... Listen & enjoy the magic of the moment. Players at this level don't care.
Every version of this song is teasing my heart and soul.... Andy Fairweather Low & Eric Clapton did it often ... also wonderful at Baloise-Session 2013 ... It is one of the greatest songs ever ! This says 68 aged fan !
This demonstrates what a great singer and understated (a word that does not necessarily apply to Eric)guitar player Andy Fairweather-Low is. A brilliant version of a classic.
I first head him sing Gin House at the Albert Hall in 1967 when Amen Corner played and Hendrix topped the bill. For me Andy Fairweather Low and the saxophones of Amen Corner performing this were the highlight of the night, Hendrix a very close second.
I remember being absolutely blown away by this when I got a dodgy audio recording from somewhere back in the days before discovering RUclips (the year known as 2000).
He certainly has the “spark”. But gotta remember this was recorded 20 years ago. Having seen Clapton recently, he flashes his brilliance infrequently now.
What a voice!! I grew up through my teens watching these guys both live and on TV. I bought Amen Corner singles and the first edition of the Beano album. I saw EC with George and Delaney & Co. I saw A.F.L. on the same bill as Hendrix. Look, Listen, Feel and Learn!! F**K Strats, Tele's, LP's or whatever. See if you can do this good. This is a stunning performance, especially from Andy, try to appreciate it
Just love this groove 👌 today’s my 57th birthday 🥳 and two weeks ago I bought my first guitar and had my first lesson 🤟 Slow Hand and his pals are my inspiration 👏👏 here’s to an old blues rocker 😆
As an easily led 14 yr old, House of the Rising Sun was the first 6/8 blues song I fell in love with. Gin House Blues, was the next, and probably the more influential, as I still play it even now. I didn’t realise at the time, but even a lullaby I wrote for my baby daughter was in 6/8 time. Such was the influence of Gin House Blues. I still love it to this day…
This was done by the Animals (eric burdon) 45 years ago. It is a great version, worth finding. Always been huge on Clapton and what a surprise to find him doing this. Love it !
I know you went through loss..I did too..mine was named Jennifer Lynn Hudy born 03/19/92 and drown at Iverson Park in Stevens Point, Wisconsin on August 8, 1995. Bless you and stay strong.
Forgot what a tremendous singer AFW is. awesome clip. I'd not seen in a while. Having fun watching some great artists tonight. thanks for posting them guys!
That's down to his his unique vibrato, from the elbow. Who else has so much range in one note, only Clapton. Some gypsy jazz players do however use a lot of elbow vibrato.
The song now most usually called "Gin House" or "Gin House Blues" - with the opening lines "Stay away from me 'cause I'm in my sin / If this place gets raided, it's just me and my gin..." was originally entitled "Me and My Gin", and was recorded by Bessie Smith on 25 August 1928 It was written by "Harry Burke", which may be a pseudonym of the pianist and songwriter James C. Johnson. It is this song which has been recorded by many musicians over the years under the title "Gin House Blues"
I saw AFL in a small venue 5/6 years ago. His playing style is one like I had never seen before. He was very aggressive in style and had a different approach to chord playing. It was like blues on steroids, and very memorable for that. I just noticed Andy is playing chords without a pick, wow he must have extra layers of skin on his fingers. Clapton soloing at his best.
Shadowfaghost! You have echoed my thoughts for years. I adore Clapton and many other guitarists, drummers, keyboardists, etc. I have always said...There are no greatest anything! So odd and so real. I thought you were me! Thanks for saying it though.
Superb version. But I always did like Andy Fairweather-Low's original version with Amen Corner which came out in 1966 or 1967. Lovely guitar work here, matching soulful singing. I love the guitar reverb at the beginning and end and the harmonising guitars.
...and I believe it has actual 'tremolo' on it, meaning pulsing changes in volume, which usually you only hear in surf music. And for the old Fender amp tremolo/reverb discussion (they mislabel), here's a rare chance to hear tremolo.
@bennyhaist Yes, Clapton played slide also on 461 Ocean Boulevard and other 70's albums. He played it on Tulsa Time and on Money and Cigarettes and of course on the great From The Cradle-album. He also uses slide at some point on almost all his concerts.
Just a masterclass of building musical tension and releasing it.

I think most people are coming around to this idea. He was in exceptional form during this period.
funny, bc by then he absolutely mastered it when he got sober sound 90
Mid 70s late 80s was a "lazier" Eric
he needed to get sober imo..Imo thats when he really became the master of guitar imo.24 nights/Journeymen Album, thats when it happened for me
This song gets better and better! Love the way EC takes a back seat when he's not doing his solo. Go AFL, go!
yeah and then he gets up and goes bonkers lol
I love how Clapton and Andy bow to each other when the guitar solo ends.
The finest rendition of this song ever recorded. Andy has the perfect voice and range for this song. As for EC, he does what he normally does, moves you to tears.
On my God! That's ridiculousoly brilliant!

Too right !!!

Clapton in the 90's was *FIRE*
Clapton is on fire!
MAN!
Clapton entered with such class, he couldn't have started his solo any better
I LOVE this song. Andy is criminally underrated.
amen to that
this is one of the best solo's by clapton, ever!!! ever!! and andy has one of the best rock voices ever, ever! thank you for this clip. this is what music is all about. pure, raw emotion.

Brilliant Clapton on guitar and wonderful singing by Andy Fairweather Low! For me one of the very best blues recordings ever!
Agree - it's the one song I never saw performed live - before and after our dates.
Just hearing it today😮😮😮 dam!❤❤❤

This was one of his favorite songs.

Andy has made this song his own!!
I can't believe people waste the time to argue over who's the best guitar player.... Listen & enjoy the magic of the moment. Players at this level don't care.
I always tells them there is no best... They best is who YOU like best.
One of the most beautiful and expressive solos ever, amazing clapton, simply the best...
I'm sure the old blues guys would be proud if they knew that the music they founded had spawned a guitar break like this ! AWESOME!!!
It just doesn't get much better than this !

Andy Fairweather-Low is going for it! excellent
Hey it’s you. Love your videos.
absolutely amazing. Andy singing. He can definitly sing. The solo of EC is not from this world. Wished i Would be there.
Untouchable solo,great vocals,power,passion,look no further.
This demonstrates what a great singer and understated (a word that does not necessarily apply to Eric)guitar player Andy Fairweather-Low is. A brilliant version of a classic.
No question about it: Eric at his very finest.
British blues players of the 60s/70s...excellent.
Truly great blues!!!
OMG AMAZING !!!! Whoever posted this video should get a gold medal for outstanding service to humanity !!!!
what a godly solo
Died and gone to heaven ... this is GREAT.
No comment. Just listen to Eric Clapton.
Yay. Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you.........................................................................................................
Oh yeah!
I first head him sing Gin House at the Albert Hall in 1967 when Amen Corner played and Hendrix topped the bill. For me Andy Fairweather Low and the saxophones of Amen Corner performing this were the highlight of the night, Hendrix a very close second.
I wish Andy would tour with him again, I love what he brings to the table. This is one of my favorites along with "If Paradise is Half as Nice".
Stunning piece, stunning playing. E.C. is a baaad man!
This is nothing short of incredible!
Staggeringly good. One of the many examples that show EC at his career peak during the 90s decade. Awesome!
and then Clapton stood up......
Sharon, I think that is great when a person can sum up the whoe situation in four or five words. You did it then. Tony Robson
@Sharon Yep! And then a nuclear explosion!
And ThE slide started It up
Wow that solo from ec was gargantuan the hairs on my arm were standing on edge the whole time.
Slide with reverb , masterpiece & AFLs voice
I remember being absolutely blown away by this when I got a dodgy audio recording from somewhere back in the days before discovering RUclips (the year known as 2000).
AWESOME!!!! Nothing else needs to be said!
Just me or does Clapton have a extra spark when doing these Japan shows?
Nick, I agree with you, I think he does.
Absolutely!
He certainly has the “spark”. But gotta remember this was recorded 20 years ago. Having seen Clapton recently, he flashes his brilliance infrequently now.
Well yeah I get your point but what other guitarist at his age has been flashing their brilliance longer? 50 plus years.
Sokie

Dan, good luck with the guitar. I’ve been playing on and off for 50 odd years and the guitar has been my friend through good times and bad.
@@davidbrown5152 thanks mate, I know it’ll drive me crazy early on but sure the pain in my ears will be worth it 😆
This is the only video I've seen without a single dislike. How appropriate!
Great one :) Haven't heard AFL like that before, and eric solo is just splendid !
This is Andy’s song
What a powerfull guitar have Clapton!

Okay this heals ! Clapton and Andy rocking it out!!!!! How dare u dislike this !!!!
Nobody and I mean nobody bends the strings better than Clapton! It,s like Santana said, "Eric get,s inside the note" !
That's down to his his unique vibrato, from the elbow. Who else has so much range in one note, only Clapton. Some gypsy jazz players do however use a lot of elbow vibrato.
This is so good on so many levels 👌
si no es el mejor creo esta muy cerca de ser uno de las mejores interpretaciones y solos de la historia.
Ain’t this just the best blues track you ever heard?
Thanks for posting this. It is a great performance of Gin House.
Andy I still love you! Gin House made a woman outa me. I was a mother at 16 in 1970. I'd do it all again Andy. I absolutely love this. Thank you.
let this man live for ever

That bow after the solo... awesome
AFL has played rhythm for clapton for eons. Cool to see him finally get to step out.
GREAT !
